Originally I felt this might be looking too close to the Fenris. And then it hit me! Werewolf, transformation... it needed torn clothes. It's the little things that make the difference.

Xing Tian symbolizes the indomitable spirit, the will to keep going despite having no head. This guy just didn't want to give up sweets

The thing about zombies is, they just have bad memories. They just want more brains to help them remember what it is they forgot. Also not the best at asking for help, and a little pushy.

Ettin is a kind of giant from Old Norse Jötunn, from Northumbrian folklore referring to a colossal malevolent mythical creature. Ettin (Dungeons & Dragons), a two-headed giant. Cuz 2 heads is more scary.

In some ways making the Hidebehind all dark like this is cheating. In other ways it's even creepier as you imagine the rest of it.

Where are we? You know that moment in suspense movies when things get worse when you pan over? That’s where we are.

The Spriggan. A sort of odd selection for the book maybe. More of a fae than monster, but many stories of this creature are fit for Grimm’s tales than bedtime stories. Just avoid seemingly peaceful groups of stones, that’s all I’m saying.

Misunderstood Monstrous Alphabet book. I think this was my homage to green eggs and ham. This is just a small detail from the book. Creepy much?

Misunderstood Monstrous Alphabet. Another detail from the book I am working on. Gremlins thought the outside could use a remodel too.

I mean really, a house isn't complete without its own sea monster in the water tank. Pick up your own personal Kraken at any pet distribution center and drop it in your water tank. Ahhh tentacles.

This may look like a battle between the Nimerigar and a shrub, but it's not. Don't let this gardening stand-off fool you. There is more going on here.

Sure, drawing monsters is fun, but I geek out over silly little details like that switch we used to have to screw to the TV. That itself was like some Frankenstein monster with 2 posts and wires.

I give you... stairs, a blood bag, and a partial painting of Bran Castle. Perched high above Romania and famous for being Dracula's fictional home.

You sort of have to do a vampire for the letter V. When I finally got to this I went for the classic version in Nosferatu. A creature to be sure.

So I know what you are thinking... how did you keep track of what ink pen sizes you used? Just a simple post-it on my drawing table. Micron 08, 05, 03, & 02.

Like many of the pages the Fenrir has some hint of another creature in his scene. Well, maybe more than a hint.
