If you're broke and living in the US, reminder that December and Easter season are when fully cooked spiral sliced hams go on sale for about $1/lb. Grab that and some freezer bags and you can get a whole lot of protein for very little money

Cheapskate tip to Uber eats, Postmates etc- claim that your food was stale or that's something was missing from your order. You will usually have to post a photo, I'm sure you can figure that out. If you don't immediately get an email with a confirmation of your refund, contact support and if you didn't already get a full refund you will get a full refund if you request a refund receipt via email. Don't do this to locally owned restaurants, keep it to chains.
Cheapskate Amazon tip - if you order food on Amazon, they cannot accept returns. For instance, I used to order two 24 packs of monster every few weeks. If you claim that one or both were damaged, they will refund you. If you ordered them at the same time, they will refund both of them. This also applies to EBT purchases. EBT purchases that are refunded will automatically be refunded to the EBT card. They can also refund cosmetics, although I'm not sure if that applies to expensive cosmetics like tatcha.
Thank you. This has been Kira's how to be a cheap and broke bitch show.

Homeowner's protip: you can save $30+ a month by getting a blu ray/cd player off of Facebook marketplace/Craig's List and buying used dvds from your discount DVD store and mooching off of public wifi at libraries. (Also coffee shops if you have spare change.) Point is, wifi would've cost me almost $50 a month and now I can put that towards food, cause you know, the economy and shit.

Cutting Costs on (Some) Financial Expenses
Here are a few simple, easy ways to save on personal expenses and make some extra money: FINANCES  Bank any unexpected or “windfall” money (but take some and get something you’ve always wanted to have or plan for something that you’ve always wanted to do; then bank the reminder). If you have to use an ATM, only use those at your own bank to avoid service charges (if you’re able to; sometimes…

Want to get into 40k but don’t have a lot of money? One of my tips is hang out on eBay and look for unpainted models and sprues. Most of my current army was obtained that way. I’ve managed to obtain figures for about half the price of brand new.
Also use a wet palette. You can make these yourself (you can find guides online) or buy them, but they’ll help your paints last significantly longer.
Take care of your brushes. Wash them with soap frequently, they will last longer. Avoid getting paint in the ferrule (the metal bit at the base of the brushes).

I'm not vegan not even vegetarian but people do learn some vegan recipes
There's this coconut cilantro chickpea recipe that is just as good as any omnivore meal and it's quite cheap AND nutritious. Or substituting meat for TSP in meatballs or sweet-sour meat recipes is also cheaper and very nutritious.
Also vegan cakes, pancakes or crepes aren't that complicated and we use animal derivates just for pleasure no nutritional value in those cases and it literally doesn't kill us to substitute.
Substituting animal protein for plant protein is very beneficial in most cases (fiber and almost zero fat), is much cheaper and EVERYONE benefits in slaughtering less animals

I hate articles that claim they're full of tips about saving money and then you look and it's things like "cook from scratch", "buy in bulk", "don't let food go out of date", "start a veggie garden", "reuse boxes and jars but also don't let things get cluttered", and of course the "make coffee at home"
Like jesus fucking Christ there's literally a dozen reasons why people can't do these things. Especially the "start a garden" like 1 - not everyone can physically do that and 2 - do you know how much tome and effort gardens need????
For example:
I'm mentally ill, so the process of: choosing what I want to eat that week, writing down ALL of the ingredients I need, going to the store & buying Everything I don't already have, coming home & putting them away, & then remembering to cook them all, takes up just so much energy and emotional bandwidth that i can't do it. I use dinnerly which is expensive but it literally cuts out the shopping part. I choose the recipes I want out of a selection so it's not "every recipe in the entire world" it's "pick 3 out of these 50 but since you're such a picky eater it's actually like 15 options".
Then my only other problem is that if I'm working, I won't be able to cook cuz I can either work or cook and not both (tho thankfully I only work part time and I share dinnerly with someone else who can also cook)
I know a few people are gonna think I'm making a big deal about nothing but I know a lot of disabled people who are like "yea it costs more when you're disabled" and these "money saving tricks" seem to forget that disabled people exist. I mean even people just working more than 1 job probably struggle with this.
