I gotta say the tags you left on that reblog on why you followed me are by far one of the best collections of tags I've ever gotten.
but you've awakened my curiosity. What was the Twitch chat that started this? What did I say???? I'M SO CURIOUS BECAUSE BOY HOWDY I'VE SAID SOME INTERESTING THINGS-
I couldn't remember exactly, so I went back and searched Discord for images I sent and apparently it was just a super tame message.
The thing that made it significant, however, was the fact that I had never heard the Diggy Diggy Hole song before this year... despite having watched minecraft youtube videos since 2012. Somehow I missed that. A month or two ago I mentioned something from a different Impulse stream about diggy diggy and my friend @bibliobasilisk forced me to watch several iterations of the song (which I'm grateful for. It's a bop. As you would know).
So anyway I sent that screenshot to her like "hey look someone in chat said this" because i thought it was hilarious and then I was like "also I recognise their name from tumblr. unrelatedly". And then she was like "ah swedish tumblr, just looked them up" and then, being half swedish myself, I got hella excited:
And then I proceeded to scroll on your tumblr for like 20 minutes before unpausing the Impulse vod to continue watching. And I've been following you ever since then.
So a combination of me recognising your name, and my friend sussing out that you're Swedish (and the fact that diggy diggy is still relatively new to me) and bam. I'm here now.
Also in looking for that screenshot, it turns out that I screenshotted a second message of yours from a different stream:
Because Hermitgang my beloved

This week’s Monday Philm is one of the all-time greats, Boogie Nights (1997), dir. Paul Thomas Anderson. Despite being one of my favorite movies, I’ve never really written a true review of it. Not sure this is gonna count either, but I have a few things to say at least!
Starting strong with Hard Eight and Twister the last two weeks and getting even better with Boogie Nights now, we’re finally entering the real breakout phase of PSH’s screen career. Within a few weeks we’ll start seeing some starring roles, and even his supporting performances will be emotionally deeper and more substantial than just bit parts. Earlier today I was thinking about that shift he’s making at this point, the mid-to-late-90s, and Boogie Nights is probably the most perfect example of the maturity he’s reached as an actor and the gravity he’s developing.
In Phil’s earlier performances, the first thing I notice is his enthusiasm, this unbridled energy he’s throwing around. Think My New Gun, Scent of a Woman, Hard Eight, When a Man Loves a Woman — he’s practically buzzing. He’s demonstrated emotional depth — sometimes beyond what the script itself deserves tbh! — but his parts are limited, unsupported by other aspects of the film, not enough room to reach his full potential as an artist.
With Boogie Nights and through PTA’s writing, he gets the chance (and the space and screen time) to really sink into Scotty J’s vulnerability, his awkwardness, his confidence, his longing. On this watch, for some reason, his two solo scenes with Dirk hit especially hard. That hallway walk — just wanting to be near someone so badly, barely restrainable lust, the discomfort, so desperate. And then the car scene — Scotty has so much confidence (one of the few ways I can’t relate), he wants to be good enough so badly, he has this hope. His nervous groans, restless hands, the way he pleads even after he’s rejected, so needy. I’m a fucking idiot, I’m a fucking idiot, I’m a fucking idiot. But he sticks around, still loves Dirk, still wants to be there for him. I can’t watch a single scene without thinking of what Phil said about what goes on inside Scotty’s mind:
“What’s it like to just, you know, what’s it like to obsess about somebody? You know, what’s it like to want somebody so bad? What’s it like to go through the day and not be able to think about anything else but this one person.”
Scotty J is funny with his short shorts and too-small tank tops and Valley Girl parlance, but he breaks your heart, too. Phil is finding a way to take that bubbling enthusiasm he unleashed before — and I’m not just talking about how his characters appear, their dispositions, no, but the very force he’s drawing from himself — and ground it, to channel it into an equally intense yet more developed and subtle emotional palate.
All of this and I hardly wrote about the movie itself, jeez. “But doesn’t it make you nervous when you’re dealing with all those evil forces?” “Horses? What?” got the biggest laugh from me on this viewing. The pool party is the best scene ever filmed. The soundtrack is unmatched. I hooped and hollered (alone in my room) at Phil’s name in the credits, as is custom.
