MLQC Lucien's S2 Plot Review/Summary (Season 2 Chapter 1-43)

While there’s indeed an official summary, it’s not really specific and doesn’t explain shit so I made a fan-made review about the S2 Lucien plot in general. Keep in mind that since it’s fan-made there might be some bias but I’ll try to keep it as objective as possible. Feel free to correct if there’s some wrong info here :D. Lastly, spoiler alert! This post contains a very heavy spoiler about the S2 main story and R&S.

[Pre-Main Story]

9 years old Lucien met Kid! MC under the camphor tree again. MC gave him a peace knot. After MC failed to convince him to leave BS together, and he apologized to her for not fulfilling the promise he made back then, they promised that they would definitely meet again in the future. (S2 prequel - 1-3).

After that, his childhood is more or less the same as S1. He studied abroad in England and America. Then got his Ph.D. in neuroscience.

4 years before the main story started some changes were happening in Black Swan, and he left the organization. Hades sent a spy to monitor him (R&S - What The Eyes See). Although he left BS and was even labeled as a traitor, somehow, he still has access to the BS database (R&S - Hidden Agenda).

MC joined BS after Lucien left.

After leaving BS, he joined the NW project (not the organization). Because of his traitor reputation, NW didn't trust him, and he was placed at STF as R&D chief advisor for a test of his trustworthiness. (R&S -Catching a Glimpse)

He frequently gets lucid dreams about his life in S1 and MC. It puzzled him because he has no memory of S1. And so, to solve the mystery of his dreams, he's cooperating with Hypnos. (R&S Hidden Erosion)

Lucien returns to Loveland city 4 years before the story starts. (R&S - What The Eyes See)

2 years before Main Story started, MC found out about his whereabout when she accidentally caught a glimpse of Lucien’s surveillance report at her dad phone. MC immediately went to his newly built Research Centre and is reunited with Lucien. MC invited him to be her program consultant and he accepted.(Fortuitous date)

Some time ago before the Main Story start, he became her neighbor by moving to her next door apartement.(R&S - What The Eyes See)

Once, Lucien tried to take her away from BS, but she refused. (Binding Promise date)

[CH 1-9]

Chapter 1

MC used Lucien's card pass to get through the STF security system. She went into his office to get information but doesn't get anything before two STF officers came. MC hid under Lucien's desk and Lucien comes in.

After the two officers were gone, MC tried to persuade Lucien to collaborate with BS but he refused. MC leaves afterward.

Chapter 3

When MC was shopping, she met a little boy who accidentally awaken gravity power using a small syringe. The boy's power was uncontrollable and turned everything into chaos.

Lucien appeared in time, copied the boy's power, and resolved the crisis. After that, Lucien invited MC to take the subway home together.

The subway that Lucien and MC took isn't a normal subway. It actually brings them to a "dream world" created by Hypnos and Lucien's collaboration.

There, they meet kid Lucien in the middle of a snowy camphor tree and wheat field. The reason why Lucien brought her here is to confirm his guess about time regression and memory loss from S1.

After they part at the subway station. Lucien received an invitation to Hunter Game.

Lucien met with Victor after receiving the invitation from the hunter game. They had already known each other in the past. In order to find out the source of CORE and what's wrong with the world, they have reached cooperation to find a way to break the world destruction cycle.

He joined Hunter Game and was thrown into the ocean. He managed to survive using the gravity evol he previously copied.

Chapter 7-8

MC's company that was involved in the 'syringe incident' got some bad rumors, her 'miracle finder' show is rumored to be evolver propaganda. Lucien, under the name of Ultima Bioresearch center, posted a video that indirectly defended her.

MC thanked Lucien and invited him to the hospital that studied the effects of small syringes on the human body. It turns out that a small syringe can cause organic disease. And it can't be cured only can be alleviated.

Lucien invited MC to an underwater museum to listen to one of his lectures, here MC saw a stone from an unknown era engraved with the number 8. Lucien replied that the number 8 could represent "infinity" or "Mobius ring". Then he went on and talk about the cycle of civilization, where it starts and end with an explosion.

After his lecture, he and MC wandered on the beach and accidentally got into a hunter-game zone. They both become special players, and other players who attacked them will get bonus points.

In the process of escaping the hunter game, Lucien and MC fell into illusion. Lucien hallucinates for a while and questions MC's existence. MC cleverly managed to clear his doubts. Someone killed the player with the illusion ability and the illusion disappeared.

Lucien and MC met with two other players, and with their tacit understanding, they defeat those players and then left the game. Don't worry, despite the bloody CG Lucien didn't kill anyone here-

Joker's lackey appeared and told Lucien and MC that they can continue to play in Hunter Games as players, but both Lucien and MC refused his offer. Joker then told Lucien and MC that they'll definitely meet again.

[CH 10-21]

Chapter 10

Lucien appeared at the NW experimental facility of the Special Task Force, and the researcher introduced him to the experiment with children as samples.

One of the subjects has a time-loop ability. The researcher takes the opportunity to ask Lucien to join their experiments, but Lucien refused them politely and left. Probably because he's disgusted at their use of children as 'experiment product'.

Chapter 13

MC probed one of Joker's lackey's memory and find-out that Joker and co have been to Black Swan's old research institute. MC think back about the orphanage incident 17 years ago and finds that they are looking for the experimental codex.

With that in mind, MC went into BS old research institute and met Lucien here. MC, seeing a floppy disk in his hand asked him if it's related to the orphanage incident 17 years ago, and he replied no, there's no way it's related to the orphanage incident because the report was already lost. But the floppy disk is still related to Black Swan.

Interlude: Flashback of Lucien tricked Hades to get the floppy disk

Using an old computer, they opened the floppy disk, and a string of numbers (24.782073) appeared on the screen before the machine destroyed itself.

After that, MC went through six time-loop, repeating what happened to Lucien and her again and again. Lucien cooperated with MC to analyze the time loop step by step and judged that there would be loopholes caused by human factors.

MC ruled out the door, the research institute as the location, the telephone connection, and other media that may cause the cycle, and finally came to the cycle time period of 14:03-15:03. The existence of the “mobile phone” becomes the trigger for the start of the time loop.

Using Lucien's theory that-i-wont-bother-explain-here-bc-its-complicated MC managed to get out of the time loop.

The next day, to express her gratitude, MC asked Lucien to go for a walk. They went into a park together, talking about yesterday's incident and the promise of flying kites before the end of spring.

When MC walked towards him with coffee, the CORE recognition bullet hit her left chest, Lucien watched MC gradually lose color and temperature in his arms. He desperately tried to stop the blood flow from her chest but to no avail, and the experience of the word "fear of losing" became more real and familiar.

A door in his dream opened slightly. The door is possibly a door to his ‘emotions’.

Chapter 14

MC woke up in BS's old research institute and realized that the date is wrong. MC immediately called Lucien and then he quickly went to the abandoned Institute.

Lucien took MC directly to his house, he explained what happened the day she got shot. It turns out that after MC got shot, she disappears into thin air and Lucien also got dragged into this new 'time loop'.

Lucien told MC NW may be the cause of the time loop. When MC asked him how he knew all of this, he stayed silent. He was feeling guilty; Although he wasn't the direct cause of the time loop, NW also used this experiment as a way to pressure him into joining their experiment project.

MC suddenly died again in the same way as when she get shot. Time passed and she got transported again to the old BS building. Lucien immediately called her and ask her to wait for him.

Lucien dialed one of the NW researchers, he requested the experiment on MC to be stopped, but the other party doesn't listen. He hung up the phone, not wanting to listen to their nonsense.

Lucien then brings MC to Ultima Bioscience because there is more medical equipment here. When she's dying again, he tried using the medical equipment to stop her from dying, but he's failed and the time loop restarts again.

The time loop works by each time MC lives again, it is only half the time of her last life. And every time MC dies, time will jump forward by the same interval. For example, MC is first only alive for 6 hours, then the next loop she is only alive for 3 hours, and the next she's only alive for 1.5 hours, and so on.

insert Lucien's time loop theory that again I can't explain here bc it got complicated.

Because the time of her being alive kept being shorter, Lucien can't bring her anywhere outside the old BS building. It got to the point where MC experienced constant pain because she was dying and alive within less than one second.

Lucien tried to solve the problem by calculating the force needed to break the time loop. MC who keep dying countless times making him forced himself to think faster and faster.

Unknown time passed before MC finally escaped the time loop with his help. They went home together. Lucien didn't leave her house before sunset.

Then Lucien drove to the NW research room and tried to wrestle control over the experiment to prevent things like this from happening again, ensure MC's safety, and fulfill his ambition.

Joker made another hunter game, this time it involved the whole of Loveland City. Because of special fog, now people need to 'hunt' each other to survive.

Lucien and MC head to the Ultima Bioresearch center to study the fog with other researchers.

A supply point that provides aerosol appeared near the research center. There's a disagreement between Lucien and MC on who's going to get the aerosols because they're both worried about the other's safety. It got resolved with the two of them compromising to take 'risk' together.

When the research on the fog gained progress, Joker, not wanting the game to end in a boring way, appeared and kidnapped Lucien.

Chapter 20

MC is drugged, then wakes up in the NW Laboratory. MC was then brought to the laboratory by NW because they wanted to continue the CORE research and prove definitively whether the MC contains CORE or not.

Here, MC meets with Lucien, who turns out to be the conductor of the experiment. Lucien was initially surprised because he didn't expect to meet the MC at this place, but he took advantage of this situation to clear NW's suspicions about MC. Lucien acted cold and cruel towards the MC so that NW would not suspect his plan to save her.

But this made MC even more suspicious of Lucien. She thought that Lucien was the one who caused MC to be constantly experimented with by NW. Even though Lucien wasn't actually in charge of the previous experiment, he remained silent when the MC accused him, causing their misunderstanding to get worse. Lucien ambigous answer made everything wasn’t so helping either.

Lucien stopped the entire experiment. But suddenly, two people experimented on MC without Lucien's permission. The two of them conducted a painful experiment on MC, making Lucien furious and threatening anyone who touched MC without Lucien's permission to suffer the consequences. He decides to experiment on her personally.

Lucien conducted experiments on the MC carefully, ensuring that she did not feel pain during the experiment. MC, still angry and hurt from the 'betrayal', scratched Lucien's hand with her nail. He hid the actual result from NW. From the experimental results, he found a way to prove to NW that MC did not contain the CORE.

The actual results show that there is something special inside the MC's body. Some kind of artificial membrane protected that special something. Well, it is this artificial membrane that causes abnormal MC experimental results.

In the last stage of the experiment, Lucien shot MC with a CORE recognition bullet 2 times. The first shot removed the artificial membrane, while the second shot simply passed something special inside the MC's body.

Of course, Lucien didn't report the special thing inside MC's body to NW and only focused on explaining why MC didn't contain the CORE. He used evolver's special handcuffs as an alibi as to why the MC experiment results were abnormal. Lucien injected something into his body to substantiate his claim and shot himself, showing abnormal results just like MC.

This succeeded in convincing NW to let go of their suspicions of MC (temporarily). MC is still angry with Lucien and threatens Lucien to release her using iridescent, almost stabbing him in the neck.

MC went home using Lucien's car. Lucien went after her to retrieve the iridescent pen because 'he lost his luck (MC), so he need the pen'. MC decided to move apartments for some time. But not without nailing Lucien's car tire first rip.

[CH 23]

Chapter 23

Someone controlled MC's car using their evol, driving her car into the sea, and drowning her. At the bottom of the sea, she spot a familiar stone tablet and entered a lighthouse.

There, she met Joker here who was investigating the place with Lucien, she was still wary of him because of what happened in chapter 20.

The lighthouse (or rather the AI within it) apparently can talk with some kind of electronic sound and has its own consciousness, 'he' was rather fond of MC and kept calling her 'babe'. His name is 502

502 asked MC if Lucien and Joker is her friends because if so he would spare them. Not wanting Lucien to be hurt, she said that Lucien is her friend but not Joker.

The place was crumbling down, 502 took Lucien and MC to a safe place although not without MC getting hurt. It was ...awkward between the two of them, the wound of betrayal and cruel remarks still fresh in their mind.

Lucien was shocked that MC call him his friend and ask her “aren't we enemies?” alarmed 502. MC hinted to Lucien to at least pretend to be one and told 502 that it was a joke between friends.

*insert Lucien being jealous of the lighthouse AI (502) because he keeps calling MC 'babe'.

502 brings them to some open space. With simulation, 502 turns the space into a futuristic spacecraft cockpit. It turns out that 502 is actually the consciousness of a young researcher from an old advanced civilization that is already gone. A group of people uploaded their own consciousness into 'lighthouses' before their civilization get obliterated by meteors, wanting to see the future and waiting for someone special to come. That someone was MC.

Joker suddenly barges in, he told MC that she is the CORE that they all trying to find, and he offered her to cooperate with him. MC refused bc she knows that he just wants to use her. Also from what she believed, she wasn't the CORE according to the NW experiment.

MC was wondering if Lucien would take Joker's side, but Lucien decided to end his cooperation with Joker and siding with MC, helping her to fight Joker. He gave MC a gun created by his ice evol to fight. They fight together against Joker and co. side by side.

Joker is defeated and Lucien sent him away with Yi’s transporation evol. MC and Lucien talk about their relationship, what happened in ch 20 (It turns out that back then, Lucien didn’t trust MC enough... and MC realized that S2 Lucien is in fact a different people from S1 Lucien) and reconciled after that. 

502 told them that his time has come to an end because he had already seen what the future looks like. When MC and Lucien see the windows of the simulated spacecraft, there were meteors falling down, wiping out 502's old civilization.

MC and Lucien got out of the eroding lighthouse. Lucien took her into a safe house he prepared for her, giving her the choice to stay forever and will guarantee her safety or to fight.

MC chooses to not hide and fight because she believed that she still has a lot to do. Lucien encourages her to get stronger so that one day she could defeat him, her enemy. Just like in previous season, he always guiding her to grow rather than blindly protects her.

[CH 28]

Nothing much really happening. I think this batch is more of interlude lol, basically this chapter is a ‘play’ between Silas (NW Commander) and Lucien. Silas was testing Lucien’s power by sending him into missions, while Lucien was holding back his power to fool him.

MC asked Lucien to be her program consultant for her newest program. They got attacked by unknown people when filming.

On the side, Lucien did some job for NW (catching/finding information about spy) in exchange of NW experiment information. He got hurt in the process. Someone recorded his bloody back without him knowing.

Video of Lucien getting hurt because of evolver spreads in internet. To quell the ‘rumor’ Lucien show his wound-less back in a livestream. After the livestream ended, MC sneakily stripped his shirt, it turns out that Lucien is indeed hurt and he was using illusion to hide his wound from MC.

They went to orphanage for the show, here MC teaches Lucien how to fold crane origami. Although the crane origami that Lucien made is sucks Lucien and MC exchanged the paper crane that they made.

After filming, Lucien gone to handle some matters, worried about him, MC tried to find Lucien. Then, she found him in intersection, soaked and drenched in blood, MC tried to persuade him to go to hospital, but Lucien refused, saying that treatment is on its way he lied. Realized that he’s too stubborn, MC made him promise her that he’ll contact her once he feels better.

The still bloody Lucien meet Silas from NW to give him the information about the spy in exhange for NW experiment data.

Two week passed by so quickly, just as he promised, Lucien met MC again when he looks fine and uninjured. Lucien said that he still believe that evolution is the future of mankind, in response MC promised him to be his ‘best opponent’.

[CH 30-33 “Zero-sum Game”]

This whole batch of chapter is about ‘blood disease’ that quickly spreads between evolvers, in Evolver's body there will gradually appear the symptoms of the destruction of the body's hematopoietic function. According to Lucien’s observation of previous experimental records, the root of the deterioration of Evol and Blood disease is that the Evol genes in all Evolvers are incomplete, so in order to complete all evolver genes, she needs to find the CORE.

Also in this chapter there’s something called “Mechanical box” that gives normal people evol power in exchange of deterioration their body.

[CH 30]

Gavin’s experiments exploded NW Lab next door. Lucien calmly drinking his tea as he observed some experimental record in his hand.

Kiro form a cooperation with Lucien. In exchange of information of Blood disease, Kiro will give him NW’s lab report.

[CH 31]

MC called Lucien to talk about the blood disease. Somehow he wasn’t affected by deterioration. He was planning to experiments on himself, but because of some special situation (his evol gene is already a failure) he couldn’t use himself as reference sample.

Lucien told her about his findings on blood disease, suggested that CORE might help ‘cure’ it. From this conversation, MC also learns about Lucien imprisoning holding off Joker in some kind of pocket dimension. Joker might be one of the key person to prove that the blood disease is caused by external virus.

Someone rescued Joker from that pocket dimension.

[CH 33]

I translated this chapter here. This one is long bc it has so many plot points oof definitely not bc of my bias.

Shaw suggested that she might find what she needs in the Orphanage. So she went here and met Lucien who was notified by the Dean. Lucien reminds her of the danger of acting alone now that Joker is free from the pocket dimension. 

Not wanting to see her sacrificing herself for the world, Lucien tried to block her path, but after seeing her determination he reluctantly let her be. Silently following behind her as she looking for clues.

MC keep feeling piercing pain as she walk, worrying Lucien. He holds her to keep her from staggering. He reminded her again that she doesn’t have to do this, sacrificing herself and acting strong in front of him.

MC expressed her heart to Lucien, saying that she doesn’t want to get left behind by him who always running. Lucien giving her his hand to hold on as silent invitation to ‘run’ together. MC placed her hand in his, as if she had placed her heart firmly on it as well.

MC picked up a researcher old work ID. Lucien certain answer when she’s asked him about the ID made her realized that Lucien was also one of the children who were experimented. MC ask him if it was painful, and after some pause, he told her that “it doesn’t hurt anymore.”.

Changing the topic, MC tried to find another clues by guessing what kind of person the researchers from 17 years ago experiments are and what will they do to hide something as important as CORE. Lucien answered those researchers are someone that wouldn’t let moral shackles their journey on exploring the world. When MC ask him if he would become like that, his answer was:

“I thought I would. It wasn’t until later that I realized that, there is a certain special presence in the world that will come out of nowhere and catch you off guard. She made me realize that in the path of exploring the world, there are some things that cannot be abandoned besides persistence.”

Lucien and MC went into the camphor tree, and MC just realized that something is wrong. The location of the tree is the opposite of what she remembered. After observation and experiment, Lucien concluded—that this is not a real orphanage, but its mirror image. The researcher from 17 years ago must’ve hidden something important in the real orphanage.

After analysis, Lucien seems to have figured out how to solve the puzzle, and said that to enter the real orphanage, he needs to ‘die’ so they can enter the real orphanage. MC was against this because there’s a risk of Lucien actually dying. Lucien managed to convince her by giving her pills that he said will ‘wakes him up from his death’. She reluctantly agree and made him promise her that he won’t be dead for real.

Lucien stopped his heart from beating. As his whole body start to lose his warmth a circle suddenly appears, and his dead body fell into it before MC even had a chance to give him the pills. She instinctively hugs him and fell into the circle together with him.

MC wakes up in a train and saw Lucien that looked blurry. Because of her blurry vision and the fact that she didn’t give him the pills to wakes him up, MC thought Lucien was truly dead and what she saw is only her hallucination. She remembered what happened in S1 chapter 25, when the same thing happened to Lucien... It turns out that they’re the same.

Lucien, definitely alive  was aware of what’s happening. He hold her head close to his chest, making her listens to his heartbeat to convince her that he’s not her hallucination. That his heart still beats and he’s still alive. They snuggled together until MC calms down.

They arrived in the real orphanage. MC went into archive first, discovering Lucien experiment’s file when he was one of the children test subject. All 121 experiments has one constant result: failure.

Lucien arrived at the archive room as well, asked her if she finds anything. Not wanting to reminds him of his painful past, MC throws the file into back of the deepest part of the self. Pretending that she didn’t find anything. Lucien was doubtful, but he stayed silent.

After some rummaging MC found “Experimental Log No. 0”. That said MC is indeed the CORE. Lucien seems to be not surprised, as if he already knows about it since a long time ago. MC confronted him about it and Lucien admited that he’s already has a guess that MC is the CORE, but wasn’t sure because he didn’t expect such technology to exist 17 years ago. And even if it’s true he need to hide this fact from NW.

MC realized about what actually happened in chapter 20, he was trying to sabotage the experiments for her. And had to act cold so his sabotage won’t be discovered so easily. She felt really bad and apologized to him. Lucien doesn’t want her to apologize because he also was at fault. The 10 chapter long misunderstanding has been cleared.

Walking out of the orphanage, they find Silas and the NW team standing at the door. For various reasons, Silas became suspicious of Lucien, which would hinder Lucien’s future actions in NW. MC told NW that there’s also cooperation between her and Lucien, making the other party stunned.

Not wasting the chance, MC took out the mechanical box, and with the tree power that she gained from it, she caused chaos and then stole the CORE recognition gun from Silas’s hand. In a trance, she shot herself with it. Lucien immediately ran into her, calling her name with a panicked face.

In the haze last thing MC saw was her S1 self, their figure overlapped with each other.

[CH 34]

MC wakes up in a white space, experiencing pain and realizing that she is in the NW lab. She remembers shooting herself in an attempt to break the barrier of the CORE. MC’s dad appears, explaining that she’s in a dream world and that they can only wake up when the power of the CORE is fully absorbed or sealed forever.

Lucien came to MC’s dream and met her dad after not seeing him for 17 years. In the face of her dad’s warning, Lucien still decides to chase after her who have fallen into the dream. MC witnesses a future where the CORE awakening leads to the end of the world and Lucien sacrificing himself by killing himself and be brain-tube machine thingy so he can be more effective on his work to explore it and saves her from dying. This causes MC to question the consequences of awakening the CORE.

When MC almost collapse and feel lost, Lucien appeared in her dream. She tell Lucien that you are afraid that the CORE awakening will lead to tragic consequences, but Lucien says that she can do whatever you want. Even if she want to stop awakening CORE and not saving the world, that’s okay too. He respect her decision, no matter what it is. This choice belongs to her after all.

During their contemplation, Lucien encourages MC to be open to any possibility and invites her to see a special sight. She witness a comet that destroyed the world and are guided to release her burdens and pressures. She feel that you have to make a choice, and that this is her destiny, but Lucien tells her that she don’t have to choose anything, because everyone will eventually have to face their mortality. But it’s okay because they will always be a part of the universe.

MC finally see the situation in a new light, realizing that she finally have the answer. Her answer is that she’ll always choose him unconditionally.

At that moment, Lucien invites her again to another place, and after pushing open a door, she see a familiar field of flowers. This is the place she once dreamed of on the subway (back in S2 chapter 3), but something has changed since she came here again, there is a field of chinese bell-flowers in a once snow-covered wheat field, and Lucien asks her if she like it here, and MC’s answer is a thank-you hug.

Lucien bring MC here because he wanted to try to see if she could open his door (opening his heart/emotions), or speed up the changes in his dreams, so that the truth under the heavy snow could be seen again. And the result was just as he expected, she let the snow melt, let the spring come, let his emotions start to revive in him. Lucien gave her a riddle that will be answered in S2 chapter 40:

“MC, what sound can you hear now?”

“Hmm?I”

I held my breath a little and listened to the sound of this world.The rustling of the wheat fields, the wavering of the petals, and even the distant sound of the tide.They are rhythmically interwoven, like a moving piece of music.

“I heard… The sound of the wheat field, the sound of the flowers, and the sound of the tide.”

“Do you know what these sounds mean?”

Before waking up, MC entrusts Lucien with the experiments at NW, showing her unconditional trust. She say goodbye to their father and wake up in the NW lab.

Upon waking, MC informs Silas about the impending end and makes three demands in exchange for volunteering for the experiment. Silas eventually agrees, and the experimentation begins with Lucien by the protagonist's side. However, strange shadows appear, and the lab becomes empty, indicating a time-space overlap centered around NW.

Lucien believes that MC can find the answer and she leave the lab with determination. After MC disappears, Lucien warns Xiao Yue about the changes caused by the CORE, and MC embarks on a journey to discover the truth.

I translated Lucien’s part of this chapter here.

Note: this chapter is a bit complicated since many things happened at once. I reccomend to read chapter batch summary or just read the chapters themselves. The main thing is that in S2 chapter 39 he reveals his feelings to her and in S2 chapter 40 MC’s CORE power is fully awakened. Lucien recovered his memory from S1 and recovered his ‘spring’.

The answer to his question back in S2 chapter 34 is that the sound of the wheat field, the sound of the flowers, and the sound of the tide is his heartbeat.

Lucien meet with Silas on his office. Silas was refelecting on various phrases written in his notebook: "Overlapping Worlds," "CORE," and "Comet Doomsday." He notes that something called "The New Year Change Coup" didn't happen, but he's unsure about it. Suddenly, fuzzy information enters his mind, appearing both familiar and unfamiliar, like fragments of his own experiences but without any accompanying memories. It was a memory from S1 but Silas didn’t know about it.

Facing with Lucien, Silas ask him if there have been any new developments in the CORE experiment. Lucien remarks that infiltrating a powerful force takes time and criticizes Silas for being too impatient and neglecting other important information. Silas, sensing scrutiny in Lucien's eyes, maintains his composure and asks Lucien to sit down. Lucien then points to his temple, implying that Silas should observe any changes within himself. After a moment of contemplation, Silas expresses his interest in hearing more about it from Lucien.

a lot of things happened after this, but just for background info:

MC’s precognitive dream is back.

It turns out that MC and the boys aren’t the only ones who remember their past lives in S1.

Leto, in particular, is very interested in this phenomenon, in chapter 41 he meets with MC as the representative of the City Hall. He tells her that he’s looking forward to their future cooperation (a very important detail!). He also tells her about his dreams’ where he fight MC and lost his life in it. MC brushed it off as nothing, and Leto seems to be not fully convinced but decides to not dwell on it.

Some people (especially GR people) are trying to kill/kidnap MC after discovering she is Queen/CORE.

In chapter 43-1 she learned from Shaw that many people have been inquiring about her recently. She proposed to join in his information exchange, Shaw sent her an address. MC left her home after disguising herself, but then she met Lucien on the first floor. Lucien recognizes her disguise immediately because she’s the only color SOBS. And tease her about it. They part ways afterward, MC meeting with Shaw while Lucien meet with Leto, discussing their cooperation.

In the morning, Anna suddenly calls MC, telling her that the TV Station wants to talk to her about a project. It’s something that struck MC as odd because usually, the TV Station always produces its own program. Even though there is some external cooperation, it’s usually not THIS easy and straightforward. The program is about a social education program, and in addition to funding, the TV Station will support them in terms of venue and so on. This cooperation can be beneficial to her company if it’s successful.

In the meeting room, MC meets with Gao Xin, the program director of the TV Station. The theme of the show project is the current phenomenon of “overlapping memories”. Because this phenomenon caused minor panics and might cause even worse things, the TV Station wants to work with her to eliminate the negative effects.

MC notices that the project commissioner is The City Hall, which means that Leto may be behind this. But since stopping the phenomenon from causing even more chaos is more urgent right now, and TV stations have more power to influence people, she decided to consider it for now. After the meeting, MC sits back at her desk and opens the submission mailbox containing emails from people affected by this phenomenon MC sorts and reads the submitted email individually, realizing the phenomenon’s effect is more severe than she imagined. If it doesn’t get dealt with in time, the chaos will only snowball, affecting more people. She then clicked the next email from a Loveland University student. She decides to meet with the student to interview him.

In her way to Loveland University, she get approached by a man that adress her as “Queen”. MC, wary of the man's unsettling behavior, tries to keep her distance and reach for a taser in her bag. However, before she can act, Lucien, holding an umbrella, intervenes and confronts the man. Lucien warns the man to stop dwelling on unsubstantiated memories or face consequences, he also threaten the man with his ice evol. Having no choice, the man giving up pestering them and ran away.

Following the address in the email, they entered the Physics department and entered the fourth-floor hallway. They meet the email sender; he’s surprised when seeing MC comes with Professor Lucien. Because the hallway isn’t a convenient place to talk, he brings MC and Lucien to the balcony. The email sender is a university student that’s troubled by his friend’s decision of quiting a research. The reason is that his friends saw their research’s future in that abrupt memory. In that future, even after investing a lot of time, they still lag behind others and end up with no results.

*insert Lucien realistic talk about the truth of path of science to see if the boy is really persistent*. 

MC then try to find the student’s friend. Want to interview him and see if she can convince him to continue the research.

During their walk, MC asks Lucien if he has ever had any regrets. Lucien initially responds that he has no regrets when it comes to research, as each decision is carefully considered. However, when asked about things other than research, Lucien hesitates and reveals that he has indeed experienced regrets. MC expresses curiosity and asks about the situation that caused his regrets. Lucien, with a pained expression, admits that it was when he believed MC was gone forever. MC, recalling a past memory of capsules and bloodshot eyes, reassures Lucien that she is still alive and embraces him, offering comfort. Lucien reciprocates the embrace, acknowledging MC’s presence and expressing a sense of relief.

Afterward, Lucien and MC interviewed the student’s classmate who decided to quit. When facing the boy’s question of whether one should continue when knowing there’s no hope, Lucien pointed out that things aren’t always predictable. There is some scientific breakthrough caused by accidents. Lucien invited MC to share her thought. And she frankly expressed her feelings about it. Hearing it, the boy didn’t say anything, but the indifference on his face was gradually replaced by contemplation.

MC invites Lucien to be her guest in the new show. Lucien agrees after some back and forth.

A few days pass after the show, MC is about to leave work when suddenly Lucien calls her to invite her to a banquet. MC agrees to accompany him. Lucien give her a dress to wear on for the banquet and let her change in his car. But MC is having difficulty on her zipper and asks his help. Lucien helps her with it ft. sexy bgm.

They arrive at the banquet, Lucien challenges MC to guess what kind of special banquet is this. After some observation MC guess that the banquet is for people that have a great contrast between their previous and current lives. They’re dissatisfied with their current live and unable to accept it. But Lucien said that it’s only 30% right.

Suddenly, a man that they meet in S1 chapter 13 (The elevator man) approaches them. The man claim to have been interviewed by her and Lucien in a previous episode of "Miracle Finder." Although she initially doesn't remember the incident, a flashback triggers her memory of interviewing the man about an elevator malfunction. The man insists that the memory is real and questions the validity of his own Evol powers. The situation becomes tense, and the guests in the hall start to take notice.

Leto suddenly appears and offers an explanation, stating that the memory is indeed real and that their society is built on the manipulation of information. Lucien also confirm that their previous memory is real. While everyone was estatic, they were also somewhat puzzled, while Leto explains that the show was just a way to filter people (the reason why Leto/City Hall commision her show). The purpose was to find out people with judgement and jointly control the future of Loveland city.

The guests turn their attention to Leto, leaving MC feeling unsettled. She confronts Lucien, who apologizes and explains that he said those things to reduce trouble. They move to a corner to have a private conversation.

MC ask Lucien’s motives for his move a little angrily, but Lucien says that these people already had a pre-set stance, and any further explanation would be futile. And he brought her to this banquet to let her see clearly that the power of CORE will definitely make her a target. But if she choose to move forward, he will become her strength.

Basically- 0n this chap, everyone basically used each other (mutual “borrowing” of power). Lucien used MC’s program to filter out those people and hold his end of the bargain; MC used the TV station’s influence to also protect herself in addition to solving the social issues; and Leto used MC’s program to stabilize the situation. Lucien cooperates with both sides, and they all get what they want, but I think it’s obvious whose side he leans on. After all, even though he appears to support Leto in the banquet, his actual intention is to make her prepare for danger in advance (and lol, the ‘elite people’ that Lucien filters are a bit half-assed >_> 9 out 10 of them feel like they’d easily betray someone if they can).

Victor: Who was the one that excitedly sought out Goldman for the best HD version after seeing the cover photo I took for LFG last week?

Victor: She even kept bragging about how she was the one who styled my outfit, so she needed to keep this meticulously crafted masterpiece as her personal collection.

Victor: It was more than just a contribution. The direction of my hair grooming and the cosmetics that ended up plastered on my face was all thanks to your involvement.

Victor: If the photo is flawless, why do you feel embarrassed about it?

Victor: [sighs helplessly] …the speed at which your heart changes is truly remarkable.

MC: The new wallpaper I switched to was your new photo. How can you blame me for having a change of heart!

Ramble/Rant on Kiro’s New S2 Chapter 26-29 [CN server]

I’m not very good at writing cohesive posts so I’m just gonna try putting my thoughts and feelings about Kiro’s new chapter (released 03/22/2022) into bullet points and hope that I don’t go off on some random tangent. I’ll try to keep it short and only discuss the major points. Just to be safe I’ll be putting this under spoiler cuts so DON’T READ to avoid spoilers.

I cannot believe PG pulled the same stunt twice one year later. You know that famous quote “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us”? Well, that’s exactly what happened although that third part of the quote didn’t occur....at least not yet. A warning to all Kiro stans: DO NOT TRUST A SINGLE KIRO KARMA IMAGE IN THE FUTURE especially this one.

Why? Because what you see is not always what you get. I thought I was finally gonna get a romantic, lovey-dovey scene between Kiro and MC especially after all that has happened in the last several chapters with them, I felt that it was much needed. But NO!!! Instead I got stabbed in the heart AGAIN!!! THAT WAS A WHOLE DREAM SEQUENCE!!! IT WASN’T EVEN REAL!!! ARE YOU FREAKIING KIDDING ME!?!? Talk about dying of thirst and having a glass of water dangling in front and see it being poured out and being soaked into the ground 💔💔💔😭😭😭

I never wanted to strangle a fictional character so much until now and that character is Dr. Dre. Who is Dr. Dre? He is the one responsible for giving Kiro so much trauma and PTSD while being a test subject as a young child. Here’s the f*cked up part. Dr. Dre is an Evolver and guess what his Evol is? It’s healing. Do you see the direction of where this is going? And there was this line:

Kiro: Just do your job. Don’t touch me.

A little off topic but I hope Bian Jiang didn’t lose his voice or got a nose bleed from that voice acting performance during that scene.

In the last Kiro chapter, Kiro asks MC what her stance is on Evolvers. She believes Evolvers are just like everyone else. They’re no different from ordinary people despite them having superpowers. In this new chapter, we found out what Kiro thinks about Evolvers. He straight up tells MC that he wants a world with no Evol. Kiro is not a naturally-born Evolver. He was made into one. The Evol he obtained is pretty much useless. If it wasn’t for Evol, Kiro would not have been involved in those inhumane experiments and as a result obtained an Evol that passively attracts people and control them. He would have lived a ordinary life as a human being without so much suffering and being seen as pawn to be used. He would meet MC and have a carefree relationship with her without worrying about her life or his life being in danger constantly. He wouldn’t need to have to fight so hard and tirelessly for people to accept him for who he is and not what he is due to his Evol. All his life, Kiro never thought Evol was good in relation to his Evol specifically. I remembered way, way back in s1 when MC was in Winter World and she met another Kiro, he asks her if she thinks Evol is this “good thing” that she says it is. MC’s belief is that Evolvers and ordinary humans can coexist peacefully but Kiro (acting as Helios at the time) just mocks her and says that humanity is complicated which leads me to my next point. 

in these past few chapters, we can clearly see the relations between Evolvers and ordinary people getting more and more intense. I understand why MC just wants peace between the two opposing sides but it’s just not that simple. Her efforts to bridge the gap keep getting backfired on her and she starts to question whether or not what she’s doing is right or wrong and if her beliefs are just. She voices these feelings to Kiro and he reminds her of their agreement they made 4 years ago in Never Forgotten date. He tells her that despite everything falling apart around her, it’s normal for her to feel self-doubt but she shouldn’t lose her inner self like him.

Kiro: Hey, I’m Kiro, not a test subject.

She should keep fighting for what she believes in no matter if it’s right or wrong- “choose or you will be chosen”. Since the beginning of s2, MC has put a LOT of responsibilities on her shoulders and take on everything by herself because she wants to be on equal footing with the guys and fight alongside them. Now that she doesn’t have her Evol anymore, she feels like she has to push herself even harder in which Kiro says that it’s okay for her to slow down and take a break and she decides to do just that however...

MC and Kiro get confronted by NW and the chapter just abruptly ends with Kiro leaving the scene and NW chasing after him. From what Kiro was saying to them, it seems like he was waiting for NW to show up because he tells them they’re quite slow in their actions. Before leaving, Kiro tells MC to remember what he said earlier. Now MC is left with a lot of questions like why did Kiro decide now of all times to get his hearing back which makes sense because I thought he already came to terms with it. Also, who’s to say that his ears are permanently healed. Would he have to constantly rely on Dr. Dre if his hearing ends up deteriorating again? Kiro he’s fighting for a world with no evol but yet if it wasn’t for Evol, he wouldn’t have his hearing back. I don’t think Kiro should owe this man anything after what was done to him as a child. 

I’m sorry if this ended up being longer than what it is and not making any sense but overall, I did not expect the roller coaster of pain in this chapter.
