extremely rough day. accidentally dropped my beloved (diamond) axe, "Double Axel" (gifted by a friend), into my crushing wheels. Not even a diamond came out.
Then I discovered my testificate - that I had cured and saved as a wee babe trapped in my walls - Neroy, had disappeared; presumably killed or lost eternally. I'm still devastated.
My friend offered to remake Double Axel at a discount for my loss, to which I was honored and touched. I finally enchanted my first item, which was this new Double Axel, and got Efficiency IV, Unbreaking III, and Fortune II. I had an enchanted book for efficiency IV as well, so now it's Efficiency V. I'm quite happy with it.
I've also hooked up a small steam engine, though it also... Almost killed me. You see, as a blazeborn, I am hurt by water - it has a unique burn against my skin (I can hear my skin fizzle as if dissolving) and it feels a bit like hot oil - except that it's nothing like hot oil ; and no, there's no better way to explain it.
So naturally, a steam engine requires Heat (easy!), Watertight Storage (a tank, also easy), and water (evil!!); and the most sustainable source of the latter, is an ocean or river system of a large size. There's a cave pond near my house I had originally planned on using, until discovering that doing so would damage the subterranean fauna and flora; and that the pond itself had no outside source, and would eventually run dry. The ocean (in this world, anyways) is incapable of running dry, in the way I am pulling water from it.
After the painstaking process of laying pipe for about 100?m - a good 20m underground as my engineer friend had suggested me to, as a precaution against creeper damage - I was finally ready to draw water!! Or so I thought. I'd forgotten I needed a water pump. And water pumps require a source of power - rotation power to be specific. My main source is one - reasonably large - windmill, so I had to rig up all of the pumps with that source of power - and had to use multiple pumps because one pump can only push along so much pipe.
So I had to go back and power the whole pipe with pumps; and axels and belts to drag the force to power the pumps.
Finally I was under my boiler's tank, putting in the last pump, and excitedly waiting for the tank to fill with water - but nothing happened!! I could see there was water in the pipe, so what had happened??
The water pressure had given out, one pipe segment short of the tank. I was devastated. It was a simple fix, but not simple to implement. I had to put another pump in an extremely cramped and busy area under my base, as the gears that shifted the rotational speed were willy nilly in that section, and... well, I'm not a tidy engineer.
I made one fatal flaw: I forgot to turn the machine that powered all of my pumps off, before I took out the section of pipe. My second flaw was not allowing for an escape route, and my third flaw was not realizing an open ended pipe was going to drain somewhere.
Anyways, it flooded that section of pipe and I died. When I came back to grab my items off of my corpse, I couldn't find it anywhere. I was worried that the pipes and belts had wisked it away somewhere, or worse, whisked it out of existence; but blessedly it was just buried into a wall by the flow of water.
So suffice to say, rough day.
