Mother's Day
Mother’s Day
Summary:
Sun, Eclipse and Moon work to give their dragon mother a perfect mother’s day! Sun places himself in charge of the perfect day yet…things don’t go entirely according to plan.
It was an early Sunday morning. No children, the megaplex was closed. Yet Sundrop was still hard at work. The daycare animatronic was busy cooking in the Fazbear Cafeteria, staff bots kindly letting him do his work.
He stirred over the steaming pot sitting over the stove, reading a bag that rested in his other hand. Behind him, soft slippered steps accompanied by bells, sounded quietly against the floor. Moon looked over his brother’s shoulder to study the handiwork. “Everything ok?” He asked, voice as soft and raspy as ever with the knowledge that there were still sleeping forms in the Pizzaplex. “I think so.” Sun answered, not as quiet as his naptime counterpart, but still keeping his volume low. “I’ve never really made grits before…I hope I’m doing right. The instructions make it sound easy enough.” Sun hummed looking at the milk filled pot before glancing back at his brothers. “Mom still asleep?” Moon nodded. “Out like a light.” Eclipse gave a hummed chuckle. “She shouldn’t be waking up any time soon! We should have plenty of time to finish prepping!” “Oh good!” Sun whispered-shouted with a spin of his rays. “I hope I can get her breakfast done before she wakes up.” Moon took a moment to look at the small spread Sun was preparing. Eggs mixed into a bowl, ready to go. A good bit of homefries sizzling away in a pan, bread waiting to be toasted with butter out and being guarded by a butterknife on top of the container. And of course, the milk slowly coming to a boil for that mushed up oatmeal looking stuff. “Where’d you get all this?” “Marie.” Sun answered, taking a moment to stir and flip the potatoes. “She helped me get all this, told me it was some of mom’s favorites back before we knew her.” Moon and Eclipse looked at each other before they gave a chuckle at that. Neither were all that surprised. Their shadow wolf friend was always willing to help…and knew their mother better than anyone. Heck if it wasn’t for Marie begging for food from human children…Moon would've never chased after her…and they never would have met Ana.
“So a big breakfast and just spending the day together?” the night animatronic questioned, leaning against the counter. Sun gave a proud smirk as he poured in the corn mix. “Oh you know me better than that dear brother~! I got a lot planned today!” “Shhh.” Moon gently hushed, Sun giving a squeak and shrinking his rays in shyly. “So what is planned? You didn’t exactly fill us in yesterday and just told me to make sure Mom didn’t wake up too early.”
“Oh yes! You did rather take charge.” “Oh right! Well first this breakfast of course! Then with it getting hotter, I think we should give her a haircut so her mane won’t make her overheat, then we’ll watch a movie together and then-”
His brothers  listened with a smile, he wasn’t surprised Sun had a full itinerary. He liked to have things to a very specific dot. But their eyes caught something, both looking over Sun’s shoulders as they watched the pot beginning to boil over. “Uh Sunny-” Eclipse tried to warn. “Then maybe we could pull out some games! Play some balloon world-” “Sun-!” Moon began.
“Oh do you think we can get her to take us outside and fly?” “SUN!” The two shouted. “Huh?” “You’re burning!” Sun jolted and spun around. He gave a yelp and immediately turned off the stove, coughing as the smoke entered his workings. No fire, thankfully, however, the grits were noticeably burned. “Ohh…” Sun sighed disappointedly. Eclipse placed a hand on his shoulder while Moon took his hat off to fan away the smoke. “Maybe it’s still salvageable? Just…needs a little salt!” The eldest tried his best to remain positive. Sun gave a sigh.
“I don’t know…it’s supposed to be Mom’s favorite and I burned it…”
“It might not be that bad, Sun.” Moon assured, picking up the pot. “Look, only the bottom is black, we’ll just scoop out the good parts for mom.” Sun gave a hopeful look. “O-okay! There’s still a chance for this to be perfect!” “Let’s get the rest of this finished and go wake her up huh?” Eclipse suggested with a smile. Sun nodded and his brothers helped him finish the rest up and plated before carrying it back to the daycare. Sun stopped by the desk to pick up the hand made cards. “Alright, I’ll go get her.” Eclipse volunteered as he attached the wire to his back and flew up into the loft where their mother was sound asleep. The elder attendant slowly moved by her head and knelt down, reaching out to stroke one of her long ears. “Mom, time to wake up. We got a surprise for you.” A soft rumble escaped the sleeping beast. Her eye fluttered open, the slit pupil immediately dilating to see one of her adopted children beside her. Eclipse watched with a smile as the dragon lifted her head and let out a yawn, fangs extruding from their spot and her black and pink spotted forked tongue sticking out and curling. “G’mornin sugastar…” she greeted with a smile. “Where’s yer brothers?” “Down in the daycare waiting for you. Sun’s got quite a bit planned for Mother’s Day.”
Ana blinked at that but chuckled lightly. “Huh…kinda forgot about that…” She stood and stretched, her wings popping a bit. “Alright, let’s go hun.” Eclipse hummed a giggle, going to return to his brothers before being scooped up in his mother’s jaw and carried out. “Oh! Mom you don’t-EEP!” Eclipse squeaked, feeling a lick to his side. “Mahaham!” Ana chuckled lovingly as she jumped down to the daycare floor. She set Eclipse down as she laid in front of her boys. “Happy mother’s day!!” Sun cheered, holding up the tray to her. Ana tilted her head with a smile. “You boys make all this?” “Sun did really.” Moon chuckled. “Eclipse and I helped toward the end.” Sun placed the tray down in front of her. “I may have…burnt things a little…I hope it’s still good.” He went to pick up the card the three of them worked on. “But we got a card for you too!” Sun’s hand just barely brushed the glass of orange juice but it was enough to knock it over and spill over the paper. “Ah! No no no!” Sun cried out trying to save the paper but it ripped in his hands from being soaked. He whined and shrunk in his rays.
“Oh honey…” Ana frowned and nuzzled him. “It’s okay, things happen. Knowing you boys, it was sweet and adorable like you three.” Sun didn’t answer. He sighed a bit. Ana hummed and licked his face. “Well breakfast smells damn good.” “Mom-!” Ana snorted at the slight pouty glare from her two rayed animatronics. “I mean really good, sorry.” She chuckled. She took a moment to try the breakfast made for her. Sun’s spun his rays happily at the sound of his mother giving a happy hum. Finally! Something went right! “Mm…haven’t had these in a while…” “Does that mean it’s good..?” Sun asked as Ana nodded. “Course baby, you did great.” Ana praised with a smile on her muzzle before she continued eating. Sun gave a happy squee and spun his rays faster, Moon playfully shoving him. “Told ya.”
“Do you want to tell mom the plans for today, Sun?” Eclipse offered. Sun sat up straight. “Oh yeah! We thought we could cut your mane down and trim your fur before it gets too hot! Then we can play some games, or watch some movies and then-” The four of them jump at a sudden loud crack of thunder, the lights flickered a moment. “Oh my…is a storm starting?” Eclipse frowned. “Sounds like it…” Moon muttered. The sound of rain pounded more on the roof. “Yup..it’s pouring.” Ana rumbled. Sun shrunk in his rays again. Well that put a damper on some of his plans. “W-well that's okay! It just means we can get nice and cozy to enjoy our movie night and games and-” The power went out, causing Sun to yelp out of fear from the sudden darkness. Ana gently hugged him to her chest. “Shhh…it’s okay hun, yer safe firefly.” Sun whined and buried his face against his mother’s chest. “It’s not fair…” Ana blinked, both Moon and Eclipse frowning. “What do you mean suga?” Sun curled up and hugged his knees, nuzzling against her fur. “I just wanted to give you the perfect mother’s day…and everything is just going wrong. I burned your breakfast, I destroyed your card, now we have no power and we can’t even go outside and I’m too scared to even do anything without the lights and…and-” Sun sniffled as the tears welled up. “Sunny…” Moon frowned, reaching toward his brother. “I-I’m an awful son!” Ana lowered her ears. She gently hugged Sun tighter to her chest and licked the tears from his cheeks. “Honey…this was already perfect. It was perfect simply cause I woke up to my boys being as sweet as ever.” “But…But-”
Ana hushed him gently. “You boys don’t know how much ya done for me. You made me so much better, firefly. All of ya have.”
Moon and Eclipse scooted closer to their mother and brother. Sun whimpered a bit. “I just wanted to show you how much we appreciated you…” Ana chuffed lovingly at that and placed another kiss on the top of his crescent. “You don’t have to come up with a whole schedule to make me feel loved or appreciated. You three have done that every day ever since I adopted you. I love you three so much and I can’t imagine my life without you…” “So…I didn’t ruin mother’s day?”
Ana raised an amused brow at that. “Not by a longshot. In fact…know my idea of a perfect mother’s day?” Sun looked up curiously at her, only to squeak as he felt her fingers on his sides. “Simply having my boys in my company and seeing them smile~” She chuffed, nuzzling the rays and poking around his sides and belly. “EEP! Eeheheheeheee! Mahahahamahaha! Nyahahaho fahahair!” Moon and Eclipse laughed too which only seemed to grow as Ana pulled them over to use her tail on Moon and her other paw on Eclipse. “Nuh uh~ none of you are safe sweethearts~!” Ana cooed playfully as she kept tickling up a few more minutes. She gave them a break, having her triplets slumped beside her and snuggling into her fur. “I love you boys…” “Wehehe love you too mahamaha.” Moon giggled while Eclipse snuggled against her side tiredly. “Y-you’re the best mom we could’ve asked for.” Ana smiled and looked down at Sun. “You feel better, firefly?” Sun laid across her forearm. He giggled happily and nodded. “Y-yeah. I’m sorry, mama.” “For what?” “Panicking…and overdoing it.” Sun sighed. “I guess less is more huh…?” Ana snorted and nuzzled his belly, earning another fit of giggles. “Well, sometimes. But really, I just want ya to understand you don’t need to do anything big to show yer love and appreciation. Not with how you boys are every day. Work or not. I can always look forward to playing with ya and seeing those sweet smiles on yer faces.” She chuffed. “Now, how bout we grab some lanterns and grab some cards or board games so we can wait this storm out.” “Yea!!” Sun cheered as he sat up. He stopped realizing the lights were off still and looked to Moon. His twin chuckled before standing and walking with him so he wouldn’t be so scared. Eclipse smiled as he watched his brothers leave and turned back to his mother. “He tries so hard…I’m glad he isn’t beating himself up..” Ana looked to Eclipse and smiled. “That’s what family does after all…assure ya and pull ya out of the dark…and I sure got the best lil family I could have ever asked for.” Eclipse giggled lightly and relaxed against her. “Us too mom…”
