what's the building in the background of childe's splash art?
when we first saw this artwork, i found myself thinking about the building more than childe himself. most of the details on it are obscured, and it's hidden behind both childe and the whale.
my first thought for what it could be was the dainichi mikoshi--but i don't think that's right, the shape's all wrong for it. then i thought, hm, maybe it's part of the inverted city? getting closer, and it could still be it, but something tells me that it's not the answer either.
the whale is almost definitely linked with the primordial sea and everything happening in fontaine. following that train of thought, what if the building is one of the narzissenkreuz ordo's? we know that the ordo is at the centre of everything in fontaine: it was there for the building of the opera epiclese, and the institute of natural philosophy seems to have met with both furina and neuvillette at various points; sinthe and the confrerie's investigations into the primordial sea are derived directly from jakob's research; and jakob himself is working towards something linked to it that we currently don't know about.
but, then, what is the building? is it one of the ruins at petrichor which first gave direction to rene and jakob, part of the old nation of remuria? is it the 'seal of chymical marriage', which we know nothing about? is it one of the four orthants rene had constructed, or something else?
(it's entirely possible that it's just a building in the abyss or snezhnaya too, but i think that positioning it to be almost within the whale means it's probably somewhere in fontaine, since that's where the whale currently is...)

It always seems like such a good idea in the moment (Patreon)
The first four are in reference to a great idea I had of - since I’ve finished my lower-limit page number testing for making books; shorter fics take up less page space, and just increasing the font size isn’t as handsome! - simply making a mini book! All it would take would be to halve the pages again, right? Just cut them right down the middle! Easy peasy!
As I’m sure you can tell by the second, no. Not easy peasy. Difficult painful un-fun >:(
Obviously I still did it tho! What do you take me for, someone who could have the idea of an even tinier book and then not do something about it?? No
It’s also the only one so far to have a paper bookmark rather than a ribbon!
All told it’s a bit smaller than your average manga (I love the monochrome covers on these under their dust jackets haha <3) - you can see even with effectively doubling up the pages by halving their size, it was still very small-spined!
A quick shot while it was still being made hehe ♪ It’s Out! Paired here - and the earlier one, just without its dust jacket haha - with my Zarla SC2 collection (ft. Family, Negotiations are Going...Well, and With No Obligation) - I absolutely kicked myself after the fact for not including Out as the run-up to everything, I was really trying to make a full collection in probably-chronological order! Out would’ve been a perfect start! And it only would’ve taken like four pages!!
Ah well, it was still quite a learning experience - I probably wouldn’t make another standalone of under 4k-ish just for formatting reasons but I did get some good ideas of how to do so if I wanted to! Although, my next project is going to be even more of a formatting nightmare........I’ll get there when I get there! Lol

You really think void termina is going to care about you? A world destroyer? You'd be exactly like the rest of the people they'd be crushing. You do all the Work and void termina will be the only thing remembered. You'll end up as a footnote in the history books If That. Honestly? Typically CEO behavior. You should Unionize.
Ester: "Wrong again!! I mean, think about it! After all we've been doing to revive him...once it happens? Heh..."

... i feel like the easiest solution to the whole ~but migrants keep coming here with nothing and then expecting us to feed and clothe them~ thing and whining about the cost to the coast guard of trying to find the boats they arrive on would be
offer free shipping? station a number of reasonably big ships near or at where migrant ships usually leave from, kind of a schoolbus version of a passenger ship, nothing luxurious or pretty, but staffed and equipped to transport as many people as possible in safety and dignity while being as cheap and low-maintenance as can be. and then get barracks set up as close by as possible, where people can stay until the ship sets sail, with the same low-cost, low-effort setup
and then anyone who wants to cross the mediteranean, instead of having to pay exorbitant amounts of money to some shady entity for a space on an overloaded ship, can just. report to the official coast guard ship, which will make the trip the same time every week, and if they missed it, they can get a bunk in the nearby barracks and wait for the next one
and then! everyone who shows up can get basic medical treatment and at least temporary papers if they haven't any, and there can be co-ordination with the european ports, so everyone knows when and where the next ship will arrive, how many people are on board, what immediate assistance they will need, and any other relevant information
hell, if there's something stressful or expensive or otherwise troublesome at one port, they can contact the coast guard and go 'yeah, we said we'd accept the next ship, but there's been [thing] and we're overwhelmed as-is, but the next port over is set up for your arrival', and then no one needs to deal with the unexpected arrival of several hundred injured, ill, or starving people that need immediate help in a million ways
just. we know migrants will cross the mediteranean. it's a thing they've been doing for decades at this point. we also know it's a source of stress and trouble for everyone involved. might as well accept it and make it as safe and controlled as possible, reduce the amount of emergency something-or-other to react to and ensure that the people who arrive are fed and clothed and ideally can actually migrate with their families instead of having to figure out who they can afford to pay the fare for and make their situation even worse
