Meet the Maker, 3/20: Marketing Here's a pic of my somewhat unique business cards. I get these folded ones from PS Print and love them so much. They give me more space to put info on. I have photos inside of some of my products so people can remember why they grabbed my cards at events. The fold is a tabbed fold which means when it's closed the website still shows on the bottom. Best of all, when folded, it's still regular business card size. Quite colorful, am I right? ❤ For Day 11 of #marchmeetthemaker - Range . This is my main range of work for 2020, as well as products that I'm selling on my Etsy shop. . I mostly do illustrations (children's books are my speciality), comics (for @levcomics ), character design and custom portraits. For now, my Etsy shop has prints and stickers, as well as different kinds of custom portraits. . Even if my shop is temporarily closed (due to the Coronavirus epidemic), it will reopen as soon as things will settle down (don't worry, I am fine; I'm just very precautious, since schools and universities closed in Romania, as well as many events were cancelled or postponed) . For the #meetthemaker #meetthemaker2020 and #meetthemakerweek At the age of fourteen I began to take photography seriously and above all to appreciate the magical moments that are generated when printing photographs in the dark room. Much later with a thesis written in Florence, I graduated in photo-journalism at the University of Bielefeld in Germany. I moved to Italy in 1986 and have lived a period of both real and internal travels. In fact, my works are visual travel diaries, basically self-portraits. In a sense, all my images and collages are self-portraits. In 1990, after a trip to Egypt, something changed. For the first time I felt the need to combine two photographs. I noticed that it was as if two images wanted to get next to each other, my gaze was already combining them in my mind. I printed the two images, cut the so-called “frame window image” and filled it with the “photo-scene”. The first photomontage was born and then the volume “From South to North - Sabine Korth” edited by Roberta Valtorta. For many years I taught  photography in different university settings in Florence and hold workshops on collage and experimental photography. A new chapter of my career found me connecting with therapeutical photocollage, thanks to @Judyweiser in Canada. Recently I focus mainly on my studio practice and offer workshops in Tuscany, in a beautiful setting in a small town on the mediteranen coast at #Piombino and online via AC Accademia Della Fotografia di Benevento and in private groups. Day 3 of @joannehawker 's meet the maker week is all about What's New for Christmas What's new this year (aside from my shiny pins and penguin pick me up bundles) is my attitude. Every year Christmas is a mad rush to do as much as possible in an extremely limited amount of time, this year I decided I need to try and break the pattern of the famine/feast nature of the industry I work in. This is why I chose to do a Kickstarter so late in the year, I'd rather spend time making things I enjoy at my own pace then scrabbling frantically to make enough to survive the lean months at the beginning of the year. I'm focused on creating ranges of things like the pins and notebooks that are in stock and I can pop them in an envelope and drop them in the post box. In short I want to work smarter and hopefully not be too pooped to actually enjoy the festive season for once! I'll let you know how that goes! Another #meetthemaker post! I LOVE doing conventions all around the east coast and with everything happening lately, it's making me appreciate SO MUCH all the love and support I've had over the years from everyone I meet...it really fills my heart so much to see new faces at these shows, and some familiar faces again & again. When some of you come back to tell me which pieces of mine you've gotten in the past and are your faves, it really just motivates me to keep on doing these shows and create MORE ART for you all!! 🤗 . Meet the Maker, 3/16: Self Care I largely fail at this, but when I do, this is what I like to relax with - a good book, tea, movie, or some art creation. This is the book I'm currently reading about an American's experience relocating to Paris. The tea is one of my favorites from Kitchen Witch Gourmet - Moroccan Spiced Orange. Alegria is my all time favorite Cirque du Soleil show. Their shows always get my creativity going. Prismacolor pencils - sometimes, I take a break from an art business....by doing more art, lol. I’m currently enrolled at AUB (Arts University Bournemouth), in my 3rd and final year of uni 🥳 I live in Bournemouth on week days and then come home to the beautiful Berkshire countryside on weekends. So I'm attempting to join in #meetthemaker this year (created by @joannehawker). ✦ Day 1 - Story 📖 ✦ I (Lauren) started Lunar & Lux whilst I was on maternity leave two years ago. I was having quite a trying time adjusting to motherhood and PND struck pretty bad two months into having our baby. I needed something to focus on and I do believe starting this brand might have saved my life. I threw myself into learning how to use photoshop, starting a formal qualification into herbalism/skincare formulation and started getting cracking in the kitchen. My son Lux (now a rambunctious two year old) is my ultimate muse/boss/sleep controller and namesake of the brand. I settled on Lunar & Lux as a brand name since I spent many a sleepless night staring up at la luna and because of the obvious synchronicity between our bodies and the moon. 🌙 My original idea behind the brand was to create plant based products that I could use on myself and on Lux's baby skin. I wanted to create natural, vegan products in small batches that I couldn't easily find myself in the supermarket and struggled to find in the UK. I wanted these product to have thought out ingredients with a spiritual influence and more meaning behind them than a big company just churning them out in a factory. Fast forward nearly a year and I have a growing line of candles, sprays, soaps and bath soaks available, all plant based and with pagan/spiritual roots. We've attended countless events, appeared in many subscription boxes and have a number of stockists worldwide. 🌎 My mind is healthier, Lux is thriving and my small brand has grown into a brand for EVERYONE (we've naturally progressed away from just mother & baby as I didn't want to exclude people!). I work seven days a week around the clock fitting in motherhood, working part time for a local charity and turning my 3am visions and notepad scribbles into products. 💡 Every order and review is met with a happy dance and its the ultimate flattery that you guys like the products we make so much that you repeat order ❤️ Here's a pic of my other boss (Ava) and myself 😊...
