Telling myself stories. and never ending gratitude for the exciting adventures in my studio. This is a part of my recent project on Salman Rushdie.From his book “Haroun and the sea of stories”. For years I worked on and off with his novels. I was lucky to meet Rushdie in person and got a signed book in 2017 at a reading in Cologne, Germany. Then I sent some samples of my collages with his words to his office and got a friendly reply that he appreciated my artistic work and I was free to use his books. Cleaning up my studio some precious treasures show up. This will be part of my “Familyalbum revised”. To my surprise. In life and during critical moments I always imagine my inner critique on my left shoulder and my helping angel on my right shoulder. Here finally, she shows her face, kind of beautifully sad: My mother, who would have imagined? 🙃 In these days I m reading #gabormate again, my various physical ailments give me the strong feeling that the underlying cause is a kind of traumatic body rigidity. listening again to Haroun And The Sea Of Stories, one of my all time favourite book by #samanrushdie on creativity and much more. Quote from H.Segal in the National On another level, it could be seen as an internal conflict between the creative forces derived from the life instinct and those which are destructive and self-destructive deriving from the death instinct.
