#me thinking about something other than teen wolf and dob

hi!!! question - do u think Dylan is gonna surprise us and make an appearance in the teen wolf movie? it just feels insane to me that they’d make it without him??? and also dying to know your thoughts and opinions that they announced a character as “Derek’s son” ?? It’s all very wild to me and idk how to feel I need you to tell me how to feel
[I'm going to state some of my opinions because they were directly asked of me. I'm not interested in arguing with people, so if you don't agree with things that I say in this post, just keep scrolling.]
Heyy!! Hopefully my feelings on these things will help you figure out your own lmao ♥
First things first, I don't think DOB will be in the movie. As much as he has said in interviews that he loves the show, he's also expressed a lot of negatives about how it was run. I don't really think he wants to return - regardless of his excuse of liking where the show ended. He's mentioned that the show "has his heart", but I think he means that he has a nostalgic feeling about it because it was where he started as an actor, more so than his love of Teen Wolf as a series. And since he was likely being pressured to do it by fans, I'm glad that he's not forcing himself into a situation he's not excited about.
That being said, I don't think the movie would be stupid enough to pretend he doesn't exist. I'm sure there will be mentions of him - along with maybe an email, text, or phone call where the audience can't hear the other side, so they just pretend Stiles is on the phone.
Eli Hale!! Let me tell you, I am ecstatic.
Looking at the timeline and his appearance, I think the most believable mother would be Paige. He definitely looks like her and that would be a very interesting twist. Maybe a Peter situation, where Talia took memories of a baby? But I would also be very bothered, if they reused the same storyline twice in the show, so... Also, I like this idea because I've had a WIP in the works for months about teenage Paige having a baby and Sterek raising it, so this would play into my worldbuilding quite a bit haha.
The other option would be Kate, which also intrigues me. A hunter-trained werewolf, breaking free of his deranged mother's lifetime of brainwashing when he finds his father's old 'pack'? Give me that!! I would love a storyline like that and it would actually be something that would make sense for why Derek wouldn't know. He would've left to New York before Kate started showing. This could also open up the possibility for getting more information on the Argents. Maybe Eli was raised primarily by Kate's mom or some other relative, with Kate in and out of his life? I think there would be a lot of room to play around with this idea and I'm here for it. Shit, if Eli isn't Kate's, then I might need to start a new WIP.
I know people are all upset about the idea of Eli and who his mom might be, but I really don't see why. Derek is not a real person - he's a character - and it literally doesn't matter how often his past comes back to haunt him. If he's Kate's kid, then there's a lot Jeff Davis can play around with - and fanfic writers, too!
As far as I'm concerned, this movie will do three things:
revive old fandom members, along with bringing in new ones
provide and inspire new content to play around with for edits, moodboards, art, fanfic, etc.
build the Teen Wolf universe
There are no downsides to this movie. We gained a new Hale character to play with! We're getting inspiration for our content creators! We're getting to step back into Beacon Hills! And if it's horrible? Who cares?? Just pretend it didn't happen, like most of this fandom pretends seasons 4-6 didn't exist.
Why stress about a fictional movie, when you could be excited for this new Teen Wolf content?? I'm so ready for it. I'm ready to need to rewrite the whole thing and probably double my WIPs while trying to fix the dumpster fire that the movie will undoubtedly be. You bet your ass I'm getting Paramount+ as soon as the movie comes out.

Jealousy Is An Ugly Disease

@lukessideboob:
Since people always use Stiles’s many over the top moments to prove DOB is the better actor I think it’s worth meantioning that I can’t think of a single instance in which Scott gets to lose his temper. I can easily think of the many times Stiles is able to have an outburst. In the hospital, In the rain, in the police station, and I can point to say Crystal getting to really act when Victoria Argent dies or Holland Roden getting all those moments within her banshee arc. It goes without saying that Derek and Peter have big moments but the closest Scott ever getting to losing his head is when he tells off Rafael and while he’s clearly seathing in that moment he doesn’t yell, so if your metric for “good acting” is big hammy emotions than Tyler Posey was never even given a chance to impress you in Teen Wolf which is a shame because especially in Jane the Virgin he has a lot of subtle moments that blow me away.
(It’s also a commentary on the way the show progressively heaps more and more emotional burdens onto Scott without ever letting him process it but that’s a whole other can of worms)
@alan713ch: Please, based on the string of jobs O’Brien has had, and how safe they are, you can tell he’s acknowledged he has a very niche range
#they tried to make him the in boy a la tom holland right now #and it didn’t stick #because he doesn’t have the range #posey on the other hand does have it #even if he is still being passed over #just look at the jobs he’s done after teen wolf #o'brien would never
//
Lmfao the jealousy and delusion are strong within the Scott McCall Defense Squad circle jerk
Everyone acknowledged that Dylan O’Brien is the star AND the breakout star of Teen Wolf and that he’s the best actor on the show. Even Posey:

Antis always bemoan the fact that Scott McCall wasn’t given any complex, “juicy” emotional scene to impress the audience with in Teen Wolf. But they conveniently forget that the only reason Tyler Posey wasn’t given any complex, emotional scene to work with is because Tyler Posey is an objectively shitty actor who can’t act to save his life. The truth is that Tyler Posey couldn’t deliver any complex, emotional scene. So the Teen Wolf writers didn’t give him any ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dylan O’Brien and Tyler Hoechlin are out there having successful careers, getting praised for their phenomenal acting talent, and booking major lead roles in critically acclaimed movies.
Meanwhile, Tyler Posey shows his below average dick on OF to be “relevant” and keeps begging his buddy Jeff Davis to bring Teen Wolf back for another season because he needs a job and no one wants to hire his talentless ass. (And based on the few minor gigs Posey has had, and how safe they are, you can tell he’s acknowledged he can’t act for shit.)
Tyler Posey and his stans thought he was gonna be the next big thing when he booked the role of Scott, but that never happened because he can’t act and doesn’t have the range, and Tyler Posey went from “Teen Wolf” to “Teen Flop” right after the show got cancelled.
***********************
I am publishing this anonymous message I got purely because obviously a lot of work and effort went into collecting the sources.
But please, please let’s not turn this into an argument. I honestly love movies, and I go deep into character analysis and debates about the actors are useful - they can point something out that we have missed in the first impressions we got.
Let’s keep this a debate, not an argument.

Idk what antis are even whining about to be honest. Even their bitter idol Tyler Posey thinks Scott McCall is a shitty character – that’s why he keeps gushing all over fan fav Stiles Stilinski completely unprompted and admitted that he would have wanted to play fan fav Derek Hale instead. As for Teen Wolf fans preferring other actors/characters to their whiny fav Posey/Scott, well... it is no one’s fault Tyler Hoechlin and Dylan O’Brien eclipsed Posey’s talentless ass without even trying 🤷🤷
_______
Nomi:
I mean you can’t really blame Posey for wanting to play Derek. If I had to choose between if I’d rather play Scott or Derek, I’d choose Derek too. And of course he gushes over Stiles, most people love Stiles. Him included obviously! I wonder how the antis factor Posey himself being a Stiles fan into Stiles fans being racist? Lol
You know, it’s always been normal for me to like side characters more than the main character of a series or franchise. Like I’m sitting here trying to think of something where I genuinely love the main character more than a side character and I can’t even come up with anything. It seems that way with a lot of other people as well, but suddenly with Teen Wolf we aren’t allowed to like side characters more. Scott must be our favorite.
As for people not liking Posey as much as DOB or Hoechs, I can’t speak for everyone but it’s probably because he likes to put his foot in his mouth so much. I prefer my celebrity favs to not call me bizarre, weird, or twisted for liking a gay ship, you know?

I think you misunderstood me. The reason I never mentioned TH/DOB in my ask is because it was not about either of them. It was about Tyler Posey and Scott McCall and how fandom ignored TP’s dedication and all the hard work he put in his character and made him want to quit the show to find another one that didn’t make him fell like his acting had been wasted. TP got ignored, sidelined, bullied, and treated like shit by his own fandom,
who was too busy fawning over his white co-stars to pay attention to him aka the actual star and leader of the show. And then people are surprised that Posey snapped, like that wasn’t just a direct result of him having to put up with injustice, neglect and abuses for years
_______
DW: Except it wasn’t his fandom. It was the Teen Wolf fandom. He had no more entitlement to it than any other character on the show. So he wasn’t the fan fave? Boo fucking hoo. You don’t see Holland bitching about it.
What fucking injustice and abuse and neglect? Where is the contract that I signed that says I have to like the main character the most? No character or actor is entitled to my, or to your, adulation.
And bullied? Send me the links please, because if you’re referring to the incident I’m thinking of, that has been debunked many times over.
And if we’re talking about being treated like shit, imagine when an actor in a show you love says that he thinks your actions are “bizarre, weird and twisted.”
And while we’re imagining things, imagine being paid pretty fucking awesome money to star in a TV show for six years, and somehow still finding something to be pissy about. So you’re not the most popular kid in class, huh? Grow the fuck up and be a professional about it.
Edited to add: Oh, and you can call it “fawning over his white co-stars” as much as you fucking like, because you’ve only got that one dog whistle to blow, don’t you? But guess what? Posey’s not a great actor and Scott’s not a great character.   A plate of oatmeal is more expressive. But keep trying to claim it’s about race when in fact it’s all about entitlement–Posey’s and yours. I know that’s all your argument has.
Just, you know, something to think about.

What do you think is the best single episode of Teen Wolf, and conversely, the worst single episode?
Oh, this is legit a hard one to answer because here’s the thing.....I honestly think Teen Wolf brought their A game to almost every single one of their finales?
Like, most of their season will be a complete disaster in a trashcan on fire being shot from a cannon without any attempt at aiming for a precise landing position.
And then along comes their finale and I’m like....goddamn, THEY DID IT AGAIN. I’M EMOTIONALLY MOVED BY THIS STUPID SHOW.
Also probably has to do with the fact that like....the finales, almost without exception, are the only times the show TRULY manages to let Scott shine. To be in the spotlight, on full display, with all his talents, competence, intelligence, and the many reasons he’s the heart and leader of the pack all given their due in ways they’re usually taken for granted any other time.
Like the S1 finale? A+ drama and emotional stakes, with special acknowledgment to the fact that they managed to give pretty much every character a good showing, all without devaluing Scott or taking away from the focus on him as the clear protagonist.
The S2 finale? As much as I wish we didn’t have to put up with years of bullshit from anti Scott fandom because of it, and for all the wrong reasons, on its own merits, it was A+ BAMF Scott showing exactly why he could hold his own with bigger and badder of all types, human and werewolf, and foreshadowing his future as a supernatural force of nature who refuses to be swayed by thousands of years of ‘this is how this works’ and endless instances of hunters and supernatural creatures being all ‘this is how this works.’
The 3A finale? Might be the ultimate winner, because I just....guh at Scott’s moment of ascension to the role of Alpha, all on his own merits, because it might have been cheesy as hell as befits this show, but it hit all the right story beats and emotional notes, and was a clear pinnacle of his journey of personal empowerment and getting justice for himself and his place in the world his assault had thrust him into, whether he wanted to be or was ready or not. And it doesn’t hurt that it was some of TW’s actual best writing and storytelling too, with it actually tying together all that had gone into building up to this moment, building SCOTT up to this moment, and this role. Aaaaaand then it was all downhill from there.
The 3B finale doesn’t work for me for the same reasons the 6A finale doesn’t....its centered and framed around the wrong character. And this honestly has nothing to do with me not liking Stiles! Its about the fact that every other character on this show managed to have their own subplots and storylines that found resolution without ever derailing the show from being Teen Wolf, specifically. Only Stiles consistently broke the mold, the entire framework of the show....because ensemble shows that are nevertheless assembled behind one singular protagonist simply are not STRUCTURED to occasionally dip aside and make the protagonist a supporting character in someone else’s show. Every show built around a central tentpole character, no matter how much they showcase other characters, still benefits from the narratives all rippling outwards FROM that central tentpole, the one embodied by their singular protagonist.
When you make entire seasons about another character, from plot, to character motivations, to emotional resolution....its like if you throw a rock into a pond and then film the ripple effects of that splash....and that’s the show.....like, call that your art project, your supposed to record the impact of the rock on its surroundings (the pond) and the resulting behaviors and changes to its surroundings that stem from its initial splashdown (the ripples).
But what 3B and 6A do, and other seasons of tentpole protagonist shows that do something similar with one of the members of their supporting ensemble casts - its like if midway through recording the ‘show/project’ that’s entire premise, its reason for you doing it is ‘chronicle the resulting effects of the rock on its surroundings, after events (the throw/splashdown) happen to it’....
....without warning or explanation....you suddenly switch to filming the splashdown of another SEPARATE rock, somewhere close by, but still very much NOT emanating from that initial, central rock/splashdown....and then you switch back to filming the initial splashdown’s aftermath and the remaining ripples still emanating outwards because of that throw....all without any explanation or context for WHY your project suddenly became focused on something other than its initial premise....and then ultimately presenting all of that as one singular project that’s still titled and said to collectively be about...the one initial rock throw/splashdown and its effects on its surrounds.
And that’s why I always will maintain that 3B and 6A just flat out don’t work as seasons, nor do their finales, even though Scott had great moments in both.
But then, even though S4 was mostly incomprehensible plotwise and made very little sense or was even of interest on a plot level, lol, I still think the finale was its best episode, because again....they brought the focus back to Scott and WHY he’s not only the leader, the Alpha, but the heart of his pack and the center figure of his show. Valuing and validating everything he values and believes.
And even S5, as much as I hate it because of how much I think the show misfired in even tackling what they CLAIMED the central premise of their season was...like by building it around the tentpole idea of it stemming from Scott’s mistakes as a leader...but without ever really making a strong case for where he even can be described as messing up, rather than having been the victim of expert manipulations that had been aimed specifically at manipulating him, to these very precise ends...I still think that the finales of both 5A and 5B were the peaks of the season, with fairly strong resolution of the majority of the things they’d sown throughout each half season, and strong emotional beats for the most part....and again, with Scott’s role within his pack and the show highlighted and validated, and with his competence upheld and not the reason for his initial defeat.
Like, he got outmaneuvered. That’s what happened in 5A. Theo ‘beat’ him. But there’s not really any shame in that, is the thing? Losing to a competent foe because that opponent’s strategy was just genuinely better, in the context of everything else going on....that’s not shameful, that’s not proof of bad leadership. Its simply proof that....this time Scott lost. Temporarily. It had nothing to do with him or him not being good enough....its just, this time he’d come up against a foe who was more prepared to defeat him than he was able to adjust to and counter in time.
And although it wasn’t actually in the 5B finale, but a couple episodes prior, Scott’s whole fight against the Beast in the library.....like, that episode as a whole wasn’t all that great IMO, but those specific scenes are hands down probably my favorite moments in the whole show, other than the 3A finale. Or maybe even more than it. *Shrugs* Close call, either way.
I honestly can’t really say much in regards to the 6B finale because like, I watched it, but very little of it stuck with me, but that’s more because of the way its filming and airing had been dragged out because of DOB’s conflicts with the Maze Runner sequels, like....left me not really that invested by the time it actually aired. Its not really a reflection on the writing or structure of 6B’s finale, I’d say, because I probably would have been similarly unable to sink into even the best writing of the show, had it been in that episode. I just....for external, non-narrative reasons, was already one foot out the door while actually watching that finale.
As far as my least favorite episode goes, that’s an easy one. Even though in general I didn’t like 3B and 6A as a whole, my least favorite episode is 5x11, the premiere of 5B....because of how massively it highlighted the show was throwing Scott under the bus that entire season, and how he was consistently called out for failure, when the failings being cited each time were more accurately how his pack and friends had failed him, by not having faith in him or ever giving him the benefit of the doubt or cutting him even the slightest slack for circumstances WILDLY beyond his control. The way the show made the entire first half of 5B about Scott going and groveling to get his pack to forgive HIM, when THEY were the ones who did far more to him than he ever ‘failed’ any of them, like....its honestly the worst the show has ever been, IMO, and nowhere is that more clearly in evidence than in 5x11, where Stiles is literally written crossing fully into abusive friend territory while venting HIS hurt and pain and fear with zero regard for anything Scott was going through or recovering from, and wrapping it all up with Scott apologizing to Stiles yet again, and not a hint of accountability from him for any of his actions or his part in what happened to them all, let alone Scott specifically.
I don’t know. My ultimate conclusion, looking at all of that is its weirdly like a show is best when it actually....focuses on its protagonist and uplifts them and upholds them and their actions and choices?
SO WEIRD. MUCH CONFUSING.

below is christine’s sample application for ned stark. applications won’t be posted in full with acceptances. this is to provide another example of what i’m looking for in applications. a big thank you to christine for providing this sample, and making me cry over papa wolf! hope this is helpful and enjoy!!
OOC.
name: Christine
age: 26
pronouns: they/them
timezone: EST
triggers: {omitted}
in the game of thrones you win or you die, would you be open to your character dying?: as much as the idea crushes me, it would feel DISHONEST to say no (and I’d be more than happy to play another character after Ned ofc)
anything else: n/a
IN CHARACTER.
full name: Eddard “Ned” Stark
gender + pronouns: nonbinary, he/him    it’s only recent that Ned’s felt comfortable exploring his gender identity and sexuality; raised in a family of cops, there were certain standards of masculinity that were expected of him and he never felt fully comfortable opening that particular box of worms. but within a supporting and loving relationship with a woman he trusts entirely, he’s felt better about exploring that side of himself and admitting that he never fully fit into the boxes he tried to fit into when he was younger.
age & dob: 35, July 21, 1983
faceclaim: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
personality: + he’s reliable, above all: he can be counted on to do what he says he will do, no matter what it is. it makes him easy to trust, easier to understand. straightforward and loyal to those he’s promised his loyalty to. + a compassionate person, he has an understanding and empathetic soul. always willing to listen, to provide a word of advice. x being honorable is a double-edged sword, a coin with two sides: it endears him to some, makes him valued by those who have reason to value him. but it also makes him easy to manipulate – he is not playing the game that everyone else seems to be playing, which means that more often than not he ends up a pawn. x as a father, a husband, a brother, and a friend, he is protective; he’s lost too many people not to be. he’ll defend those he cares about as far as he needs to in order to keep them safe. - with all that, though, comes a naive optimism that can be dangerous in a world like this. it’s not that he expects anyone to be as honorable as he is, not that he doesn’t understand that people lie, and cheat, and steal, and kill. he knows this better than anyone. but he sees no point in going on if he can’t have some kind of hope, can’t let himself see the best in people. - his morality is inflexible, with no shades of gray: there is what’s right and what is wrong. and he knows the world is not so simple– knows people do wrong things for right reasons and right things for wrong reasons, knows there is always a way to blur the line. but that blurring is a slippery slope, and it’s easier to keep focus on that simple binary of right and wrong and let everything else fall into place around it.
headcanons:
( trigger warnings: pregnancy complications, death )
1. His father is a cop. His father is a cop, and his father’s father is a cop, and his father’s father’s father was a cop before that. He grows up in the shadow of it, never a question in his mind of what he would grow up to become: the men in his family, they protect the city, they always have, and so will he, when he’s old enough. Just like his father. Just like his older brother does, a few years before he can.
High school, college, the police academy. He is a star student. He prides himself on being a just and honorable man, just like his father. Just like Brandon. He models himself after them in every fathomable way. He admires them. His father, chief of police. His brother, charismatic and well-loved and engaged to a woman he so clearly adores. They are his heroes: he lives happily in their shadow, feeling a little like a child among giants, like he’ll always be reaching up to try to be as tall as them, like he’ll always be tripping over the shoes they leave to fill.
When they die– both of them, at once, as if one wasn’t enough to shatter him into pieces, as if one wasn’t enough loss to have him grieving for a lifetime– when they die, trying to subdue the riots, to stop the chaos, he tries to fill their shoes. He becomes a part of things, not just a rookie cop but a voice for the people, or, for Robert maybe, or– god, but he gets lost in it. The violence, the chaos, the city in turmoil. It is impossible to see a clear way out, through the fog and the confusion and the grief.
He’s not proud of it. But at the end of the day, all he’s got is the people he has left – Benjen, Robert, Jon – and a determination to never let it happen again.
2. She’s dying, when he finds her. His sister, little Lyanna. She’s always been little Lyanna but he feels it now more than ever, holding her hand in bed, thin and shaking. Complications with a pregnancy he had no idea existed. Complications that an adequate doctor could have fixed, if they’d gotten there in time, if she’d given birth in a hospital where the doctors would have had files about her history of blood clotting, if someone had been there to catch the signs of a pulmonary embolism, if only, if only, if only. If only she hadn’t felt the need to run away, when a pregnancy test confirmed her fears. If only she had felt like she could tell anyone. But she’s dying, already, and he’s not a doctor; he’s barely even a cop, 23 years old and only six months on the force.
There’s nothing you can do, she says, her voice weak. It’s okay, it’s not your fault. Just– promise me something, please.
And he’d promise her anything, in that moment, his little sister, promise her the entire world and do anything he could to deliver. When the doula hands him her son– premature, too small, tiny hands gripping at nothing, tiny mouth searching blindly in the air for a mother to latch onto– he promises.
He leaves Dorne with the baby in his arms, and when the baby starts to cry, he finds that he is crying, too. Can’t stop himself. He has buried too many people, for his age, and all in a year. A father, a brother, a sister. He knows it isn’t true– knows there’s Benjen, still, knows there’s Robert, knows there’s Jon– but for a moment it feels like his world has shrunk down, and the only things left in it are himself and this baby boy and the snow falling around them.
He is a good man. He will be a good father. He will keep every promise to his sister he ever made. He will keep her child safe, call him his own. Tell whatever story he needs to, so that no one knows what Lyanna didn’t want them to know.
3. Cat is… a revelation. An unexpected surprise. He knew her, of course, before it all. Brandon’s girl. He’d looked forward to calling her a sister-in-law, once. She is bright and she is clever and she is kind and she is too much, for him, too good to be true. He’s… trying, as far as fatherhood goes, but he never meant to be a father at 23, at 24. He’s quit the force, living off the meager inheritance his father left behind until Jon is old enough to go to school, because he can’t bear the though of leaving his son alone, of hiring someone else to watch him, of doing anything that might separate them. Because what if something were to happen? What if he were to lose Jon, too?
He agrees to dinner with Cat because he’s always liked her. He’s never thought of her as anything other than Brandon’s girlfriend, Brandon’s fiancee. Never wanted to: they were so in love. Brandon was so happy. Brandon would have done anything for her. He agrees to dinner with Cat because he needs someone who is sharing in his grief, and because she says she knows a great babysitter who can help out for the night.
He doesn’t mean to fall in love.
But she’s not Brandon’s anything, anymore. But Brandon’s gone. And they get along in so much other than their grief. More than he expects. And dinner one time turns into dinner once a week, turns into nights spent together, turns into moving in… and Catelyn makes him a better man. Makes him a better person. Makes him feel like maybe he can actually do it all.
She’s the one who encourages him to start something new. To build something from the wreckage. And so he starts Stark Security – he’s got the skills he needs, after all, even if he isn’t willing to risk his life anymore. Even if he isn’t willing to risk his family.
And they start a family.
4. Fatherhood suits him, it turns out. First Robb and then Sansa, and then the twins so soon after. And Jon, of course, a few years older than them all, and growing up so well. Just entering his moody pre-teen years. Stark Security means he can sit behind a desk, keep a regular 9-5, pick the kids up from school and be home in time for dinner every night. He takes up cooking, old family recipes. He reads bedtime stories and helps kids out of baths and into fleece footie pajamas. His face is sore from smiling, his voice hoarse from laughing. His chest feels warm, and large, and full, when he hears his childrens’ voices.
The loss still hits him, sometimes, like a wrecking ball. He wants to tell his father about something funny Sansa said. He wants to show Brandon a picture of the twins. He wants big family cookouts on warm June evenings. He wants someone to tell him they’re proud of him.
But there are better things to fill the gaps, better balms to salve the wounds. His kids, they give him purpose, give him a reason to get up in the morning and try to be a better person every single day. And his family gives him something to fight for, something to protect. They make him want to make Westeros a better place again.
INTERVIEW
vi. do you feel fulfilled in life?
“I do. I really do. When I quit being a cop, I thought I might never feel that way again. You know how it is: you grow up around all that, you start to think there’s one right path towards fulfillment or whatever. But my kids– It’s worth everything else I’ve ever lost, just to have them.  They make me feel fulfilled every day, even if they’re a handful sometimes.”
vii. have you ever lost someone you loved?
“Yeah,” he says, and it comes out more as an exhale than as a real word, hardly any voice behind it. Just the word is enough that he almost gets lost in it, the memories. Dad and Brandon’s funeral – one funeral, two caskets, and the way the sky opened up as soon as they’d been lowered into the ground like the world knew how impossible it would be to go on without them. Lyanna, and all the secrets she carried with her when she went, all on her own. Sometimes, he remembers it and he thinks for a minute it might break him. It might, except that he’s got people now who will help him keep going.
“Yeah, a couple a’ people. It’s– it sucks, doesn’t it?”
Tumblr media
ix. who was your last text to, and what did it say?
“Let’s see,” he says, sliding his phone from his pocket and unlocking it with his thumbprint. Opens texts, scrolling back through one or two unanswered ones to the last one he sent…  CATELYN 😍 displayed across the top of the screen, and a few messages in a row below it, hey babe omw home / picking up dinner want me to pick up anything else? / 😉 /  maybe–
As he reads the messages that follow, he can feel his cheeks grow warm, blushing slightly. Maybe not the most appropriate series of messages to read out loud… He clears his throat, scrolls back one message father.
“It was to Robert,” he says, before reading it out loud: “The good donut shop or the cheap one?”

Mitch Rapp Fic Recs (July 28th, 2018)
all of these fics follow the theme of Mitch meeting the main character during training or the main character being Mitch’s partner:
Tumblr media
“Driven Motive” - @lovefilledtragedy
Mitch Rapp x fem!reader series (4/? chapters)
i fucking love this series. i wrote it the first time i wrote anything about this series but the moment i read DM, i was instantly jealous that i hadn’t thought of the plot first and then was instantly impressed at how clever Audrey was for coming up with something so god damn simple: the reader lost her significant other in the same attack that Mitch lost Katrina and they both find themselves and each other at Stan’s training base. LIKE??? that’s genius, and so original and i honestly love this story so much because of how randomly unique it is to this genre of Mitch stories. she writes her characters flawlessly and the plot so cleverly. this is a must read, 100%.
“Following Orders” - @perlocutionary
Mitch Rapp x fem!reader series (10/10 chapters)
this was the first thing i read by this author but i had seen her around the DOB tumblr blogs a ton and so i figured i’d give it a shot and boy did it pay off. if you’re looking for a really quick ten chapter series involving Mitch and tons of fluff and smut, like lots of smut and good sexual tension and some great fight scenes and training and bickering, look no further. seriously, stop looking. i’ve found it for you. this was the perfect lunch break read for me. it didn’t take me forever and i didn’t want it to end. i will definitely be reading more by this lovely writer because this was so fantastic.
“Gone” - @all-alone-he-turns-to-stone
Mitch Rapp x reader one-shot (1/1)
I love Audrey. i fell in love with her writing when i first read one of her Teen Wolf rewrites/Stiles series, and have faithfully read her work since. my love for this short, angsty as fuck, quick little piece is no different. sometimes you just wanna feel the pull of a missed love and this fulfills that desire in spades. please read this. it’s so good.
“The Missing Piece” - @imagines-by-ilana
Mitch Rapp x fem!reader series (9/9 chapters)
okay, at the top, i’m going to rec this with a *WARNING* - if you cannot read something that is unfinished and will absolutely not be finished, do not read this. the author already said that this has been abandoned and for good reason, her heart is not in it, and that’s fine. but if you can handle that and you want to read something that is so fucking phenomenal, PLEASE READ THIS. basically, the reader becomes Mitch’s partner, way after he’s become an assassin for the CIA and has since defected, and their mission is to rescue Stan and i cannot express enough how incredibly talented this author is. but also, seriously, don’t bother her about this, i will be personally annoyed if you do. but also read this.
“Semper Occultus” - @thelittlestkitsune
Mitch Rapp x Reader/OFC series (2/? chapters?)
Lau is, i think, the only person i know who does as much, if not way more, research than me when it comes to writing fics. i can just imagine her at home with her binders about the CIA and MI6. she’s the cutest. she’s also the most talented. it’s stupid. this girl has such a way with words. such a penchant for crafting a scene and creating rich characters that you want to read more about, you need to learn what makes them tick. Lau manages to bring angry trainee Mitch to England and pair him up with angrier MI6 agent Y/n and the result so far has been just the best fucking read. i can’t wait to see where she goes with this.
“Warriors” - @susybird (but if you want more DOB stuff, find her at @dylansbird)
Mitch Rapp x OFC series (3/? chapters)
so Susy is admittedly not on nearly as much as she used to be so i have no idea when or if this series will be finished, but that truly does not diminish the validity of how fucking phenomenal she is as a writer. it’s painful how talented she is, and she writes Mitch so well and she creates such powerful original characters and god. this series really runs the gambit of only woman at the Orion training camp and Irene sees something in the OFC and they pair her with Mitch and a trust builds, but like, there is a very obvious underlying trauma that Susy starts to delve into that makes every chapter of this rich and rewarding and beautiful and heartwrenching and she’s an incredible author. please read this.

TW Script liveblog - Season 1 Episode 1: Wolf Moon
Or, as it is otherwise known:
Tumblr media
Teen Wolf Scripts!
Check it out, Wolfiends. This is a loooooong post consisting of screenshots of the Teen Wolf script alongside my own rambling commentary. I'm not here to review the show; finer minds than myself have got that covered. Nor is it a photo-recap; that has been done by crazier bastards than myself. What I am here for is scraping the bottom of the barrel so hard I'm eating splinters, give me that Teenage Lupine content, give me ALL OF THE CONTENT--
*ahem*
Excerpts have been selected based on the following criteria: 1) It did not make the final cut; 2) It substantially altered; 3) It offers extra detail not apparent from the show, such as description and direction; and 4) I felt like including it.
Fun times (and, obviously, a hell of a lot of spoilers) below the cut.
(What the heckie do these colours mean? We may never know)
Tumblr media
So let's get started.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Answering the real questions here: Scott's shirtlessness was script mandated, not just a case of Posey being slightly allergic to clothes. Let's all take a moment to think about Scott's lithe frame and then go to jail reminisce over how it felt when we had no idea what he would come to mean to us. Sigh.
Aaaaand paydirt! Here is a lovely little scene we never saw on screen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Doesn't really tell us anything we didn't learn soon enough, but any McCall family time is time well spent. And I'm not sorry they deleted the casual clumsiness from Scott's intro, so I can keep my headcanon that he had mad lacrosse skills from all his practising but just couldn't play due to asthma.
A wild Stiles appears!
Tumblr media
And it is the perfect intro to his character, easy to see why they didn't change a thing. DOB nailed it.
Before long, we are introduced to--
Tumblr media
-- Wait, hold up, who? Looks like Stiles's dad got a promotion sometime between "Double Buff" and filming. Congrats, John  Michael  Noah!
Seriously, though, consider the extra layer of politics and secrecy that would have been going on if he was just a deputy rather than Sheriff.  What a different show it would have been, especially in later seasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHY, JEFF DAVIS?  WHY ARE YOU COMMENTING ON THE ‘BEAUTY’ OF A GHASTLY SEVERED CORPSE?  HOW IS THIS WOMAN'S ATTRACTIVENESS OR OTHERWISE RELEVANT TO THE SITUATION?  DID SCOTT PAUSE MID-PANIC TO THINK "WOW SHE IS HOT (ALSO DEAD AND BISECTED)"? /end rant
But now it's time for--
Tumblr media
--and that means
Tumblr media
Back to school time!
Tumblr media
Setting the scene. Californians, is this a fair representation of your high school experience? Asking for research purposes.
Also, petition for girls and girls also to be able to hold hands. Down with the patriarchy.
Tumblr media
It's everyone's favourite juice enthusiast! Looks like the Sheriff wasn't the only one who moved up in the world over the course of the script revision process - Jackson only had a BMW here instead of his Porsche.
As with Stiles's intro, we achieve Peak Jackson in his very first scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*snort*
And while we're doing intros--
Tumblr media
But wait, this is a game changer -- you think you know how it does, right? Breezing past Stiles as if he wasn't even there, completely ignoring him? Well THINK AGAIN!
Tumblr media
Yeah I lied.
Tumblr media
So this is new - Scott's hearing was going to be much stronger here, perceiving the caller's voice as well from that distance! What secrets shall be revealed from the other half of this conversation?
Tumblr media
Huh. Yeah, that contributed nothing, and would have had absurd implications for werewolf hearing. Also would have been a totally banal first glimpse of Victoria Argent, which is just unacceptable.
Tumblr media
Did this happen? I don't recall it. Would have been a cool shot.
Tumblr media
*Curiosity is piqued*
Tumblr media
I confuse. Is this an editing fail? Two versions of the scene that got smooshed together? Or does Lydia swoop twice (possible Banshee prefiguring)?
I like the book-spilling version. It establishes Allison as kind.
But this bit --
Tumblr media
-- I do not like. It seems to suggest that there was always something about Allison that helped Scott control his shift, or even suppressed it? Rather than it being his feelings for her that reminded him of his humanity and strengthened his will. Nopity nope.
Now for another intro:
Tumblr media
It's Harley!
Tumblr media
Yeah, I didn’t know either. I guess she got shafted for some reason…which is a pity, because the girl has got snark.
Tumblr media
SHOTS FIRED.
Meanwhile…is Harley into Scott? Were we going to have a triangle of luuurve? Not sorry we didn't, triangles are an overrated romantical shape (unless they're equilateral ones, but for some reason teen shows are all about the isosceles and I am over it), but Harley could have been an actual character. RIP, girl I could have liked.
Also RIP Harley's heart, because
Tumblr media
Thus far we have had character intros that were Peak Stiles, Peak Jackson and Peak Lydia ('s queen bitch façade). Now we have one that is a massive understatement:
Tumblr media
Oh, sweet summer children. We ain't seen nothing yet.
Tumblr media
Do you sometimes forget how mutually toxic Lydia and Jackson's relationship was? Ugh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Excellent priorities, Scott. But so far so canon.
Tumblr media
A FIGURE
Who's it gonna be, ohmigosh mysterious figure--
Ohmigosh, is it--
Tumblr media
*ahem* sorry
Tumblr media
Okay I think I'm beginning to understand why we absolutely had to know about the ravishing beauty of corpse-lady:  Jeff Davis is simply incapable of giving a description of anyone without reminding us how attractive they are. HEY EVERYONE!  THIS IS A SHOW FOR HOT PEOPLE!  EYE CANDY OVER HERE!
…waitaminute, back the truck up.
Tumblr media
WhaaAAAAAT?
*thinking forward to skeevy Kate plotline, Hale fire was 6 years ago, runnin' the numbers, doin' the math*
19 minus 6 equals …KATE you EFFING PEDO GET in the BIN RIGHT NOW--
--nah just kidding, they obviously decided to age him up sometime after this edit. Also, as has been observed, Jeff Davis inhabits a world blissfully innocent of such things as calendars.
Now I hope I have sufficiently distracted my audience with squicks and figures, because I want to sneak this one through without getting crucified.
Tumblr media
Okay we're done here, on to--
Tumblr media
Really, there's nothing--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One million hardcore Sterek shippers:  *collectively lose their shit*
One innocent liveblogger:  *hides*
All twelve Scerek shippers:  *are validated*
Someone sensible:  It's just one line of direction in a first meeting, it doesn't mean--
One desperate liveblogger:  OKAY, MOVING ON
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is such a great scene -- the terror of all those panicking cats, Scott wanting to calm them but, realising he is the problem, freaks out himself -- and it just got even better, because there's something missing here that we saw on-screen.
While it could have come in a later revision, I choose to believe that singing "hey, kitties!" in greeting was just Tyler Posey's natural instinct upon walking into a room full of feline friends.
But now Allison is here, and Scott has passed off the panic baton to her.
Tumblr media
Woooo Scott is getting his wolf on! But he doesn't seem to know it yet. I wonder from whose perspective Scott's calm is supposed to be 'odd', because I wouldn't have expected him to get worked up about an injured dog given his job. And how many wolves has Jeff Davis met? I don't think their eyes typically glow, outside of tapetum lucidum reflections. But what do I know, I'm not a zoologist.
Also -- they were supposed to have an umbrella? Budget cuts are brutal.
Tumblr media
Do you ever forget how adorable Scallison were before things got complicated? Can I get an "Awww"?
It's also nice that they gave Allison reasons to be interested in Scott beyond 'he's cute' and 'he noticed me'. She admires him for his competence and gentleness here, she's seen him excelling at sports without being a douche about it, and their first interaction was one of generosity. This is why it's disappointing that they cut the bit where Allison helps a stranger with her books -- it's a pity they didn't show us Scott's reasons for liking Allison beyond 'she's pretty'. A sadly typical imbalance in Hollywood: boys are admirable for what they do, girls for how they look. Thank all the gods and little fishes that Allison subverts the hell out of this trope later on.
Tumblr media
Is this or is this not the cutest interaction? It gets better:
Tumblr media
Cats are one thing, Scotty, but you gotta think about your choices when dogs are judging you.
Tumblr media
Now who’s being judgemental
'Litigious', Scott? And before the word-a-day calendar regime, too. Insert comment about American litigation culture here.
Tumblr media
Scott is definitely talking about the dog not at all about himself why would you say that--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so Scott's having his weird woodsy sleepwalking dream now, and I have to go back and check because -- white? Why are the Alpha's eyes white? Sure enough:
Tumblr media
Did they retcon the Alpha red eyes thing after the Pilot/Wolf Moon was shot Even in the earlier scene where Scott was bitten:
Tumblr media
White eyes. What gives, Jeff?
While we're here, let's just take a second to appreciate Peter the Cartoon CGI Gorilla-Wolf. LOL.
Get back to the scripts woman, the photo recap thing has been covered, stay in your lane
Tumblr media
AWKWARD. Anyway that's the same as in canon, but I initially read that as 'mysterious smile' and freaked because was that pool owner person supposed to be significant??, but no, never mind, carry on.
Meanwhile, this ep is just FULL of iconic moments.
Tumblr media
All together now,
Tumblr media
*sighs happily*
Was it as good for you as it was for me?
Later, at the lacrosse scrimmage:
Tumblr media
I checked the episode, and…nope. No Derek stalking around on the field in this scene. That we saw.
Tumblr media
Oh good, we hadn't seen a naked torso in a while, I was starting to worry
Tumblr media
Who can get enough of Melissa--Scott moments? Not me, that's for sure. But wait--
Tumblr media
Voices becoming TINNY what is happening
Tumblr media
Someone's  creeping
Tumblr media
*sings* ‘Who can it BEEE no-ow?’
Tumblr media
*snort*
In other news, Jackson is not the only one who got a vehicular upgrade. I don’t know enough about cars to discern the mystical significance of these changes. Experts please?
Tumblr media
Ah, can't believe they cut this! Is he just embarrassed to have an inhaler in front of Allison, or does he realise on some level that his asthmatic days are over?
Tumblr media
Oh yikes, is this another scene of which we were ROBBED? I want my absolute and agonizing awkward teen silence!
Tumblr media
ROBBED, I say! Robbed of canon confirmation of Scott's dorky music taste!
Tumblr media
Awww.
I liked Scallison well enough, but if these scenes had been included I would have been 200% sold on it from ep 1.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Confused Scydia moment! I wonder if Lydia greeted Stiles like that too, and if so how hard he flailed.
Tumblr media
Harley again! In the version that made it to screen she and Stiles both ask Scott if he's okay. That girl should have stayed a character. *grumpy face*
Tumblr media
"Deep black eyes"? "Strangely hypnotic"? Preeeeetty sure he was just standing there with his regular (insanely pretty) ambiguously green-hazel eyes; and while that was a fair attempt at a charming smile (for Derek), "hypnotic" it wasn't.
Tumblr media
That would have been a cool visual.
Tumblr media
“Powerfully muscular”; “strangely seductive”; “He's given into it”
I'll tell you who's into it, Jeff Davis is into it And you know what?
Tumblr media
So am I.
Tumblr media
*Curiosity intensifies*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A nice little moment of realisation we never got to see
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is changed up a bit -- in the show the dialogue comes before the wrestling, there's no throat-gripping (Derek holds Scott down with a hand on his chest), and we have yet to see those shiny blue eyes.
Also, demonic. *shivers*
Tumblr media
That's interesting - obviously was going to be more support to the false lead of Derek being the Alpha, but they walked it back.
Tumblr media
A bit of added urgency here
Tumblr media
"Steps out of the darkness" -- from what we saw, Derek was just standing there next to Scott, no added drama. Add this to the 'hypnotic deep black eyes' we never saw -- can it be that the creeper-wolf that graced our screens was actually the less spooky version??
Tumblr media
I guess they forgot to talk to the sun’s manager about their filming schedule.
Tumblr media
Well that answers my question about how Stiles knew where to find Scott. Sort of.
Also: Aaaaaaaangst.
Tumblr media
Aww, my heart. The bromance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love how it's "instantly recognisable," but in the final cut they can’t help throwing in a flashback to all of three minutes ago just to make sure we recognise him. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Teen Wolf.
Tumblr media
Yes, apparently that is Chris Argent's idea of a 'friendly smile'.
Also, sworn enemy. Lol.
Tumblr media
Great ending to a great pilot episode! And what extra-delicious and not-at-all mouth-perforating splinters of teeny wolfy goodness does our script-reading scrape up for us?
Well, we have extra delightful domestic scenes with the McCalls; extra adorable baby flirting between our star-crossed lovers (not that they know the heavens hate them yet, shhh); a wonderful character who could have been in Harley (will she show up more in future scripts? At what point did they decide to consign her to the trash can of oblivion? Or did she just disappear because she realised she had no chance with Scott now that Allison is here?); and honestly, it ws worth it for Jackson’s favourite word alone.
But clearly the most important thing we leaned from the Teen Wolf Pilot script (Double Buff edition) is that the
Tumblr media
we know and love is NOT, in fact, the creepiest, most melodramatic, most stalkerish version of himself. He could have been worse. Watching Scott at practice earlier than we knew eavesdropping on him shirtlessly discussing sex with him mum, using strangely hypontic deep black eyes on unsuspecting teenage girls, emerging theatrically from the shadows -- just imagine, if he'd been behaving like that from the get-go, no way would Scott have trusted him. Good job toning it down, Jeff Davis!
Tumblr media
Exeunt.

Pictures of You and Us, part 1 - the photo
He sees the photo while he’s at a lunch meeting, and he knows his agent has important things he should be paying attention to, but all he can see is gold flecked green, tan skin and a shy smile.
He stares at his phone long enough that his agent leans over and peers at it and she smirks, sitting back. “He’s pretty.”
“He’s a friend,” JR says, and he isn’t sure if he’s trying to convince her or himself. All he knows is her eyebrows do something supremely unimpress and she shrugs.
“I know all about your friends, JR. Now pay attention, for like, five fucking minutes.”
He glares at her but pockets his phone and tries to act like a professional who gives a damn about his career.
~*~
<Bobo> Did you see?
<Bohan> of course I saw. It’s fucking splashed across Twitter.
<Bohan> it’s not fair that anyone be that good looking.
<Bobo> you should tell him.
<Bohan> you should keep your mouth shut.
<Bobo> that’s what you want me to do with my mouth? Really, babe?
<Bohan> for god’s sake, Ian.
<Bobo> you miss me yet?
~*~
He did miss Ian.
He always missed Ian, when they were apart. He missed Ian, when the other man drove the mile away to his house and left JR alone in the big bed that felt too big, too empty, without Ian’s loud, constantly moving presence to fill it up.
He missed Ian in a deep, abiding, familiar way, the ache of longing when he spent too much time away from home. It hurt in way that was easy to breathe through, if only because he knew how long he would be without Ian, easy to breathe through because he knew this was normal.
Part of being with Ian meant so often he was without him, without each other.
Tyler asked once, when Ian was in LA and he was busy filming and they'd spent almost a month with only phone calls and texts to sustain them. He asked, his eyes trained on Dylan, half asleep leaning against Holland, how they did it.
He asked, his voice soft and almost desperate, if it was worth it.
JR told Tyler yes, sitting on a lot and missing Ian like a fucking limb, and he meant it. He still means it.
~*~
<Bohan> you should go to the country more often.
<Hoech> you saw those?
<Hoech> god, i can’t believe--ha. Thanks.
<Bohan> you look good.
<Hoech> a talented photographer will do that.
<Bohan> fishing for compliments, kid?
<Hoech> would it work, if i did?
<Bohan> probably better than you think.
<Bohan> take care of Bobo for me.
<Hoech> always.
<Bohan> good boy.
~*~
He can't quit looking.
It's always been a problem, but it's worse right now.
It's worse because Ian is sending photos, Hoech half asleep and smiling, Hoech grinning shyly from behind a cup of coffee. Hoech, unaware and sunlit.
There's one of them leaning into each others space, and Ian looks happy, his usual shit eating smirk softened into something warm and it makes him ache with want.
He keeps cycling back, unable to look away from Tyler.
He's grown up since Teen Wolf. Grown into himself, but there's still that sweet earnestness in him that makes JR want to pull him into bed and protect him.
It's the same sweet earnestness that makes him want to drag him to bed and fuck him senseless.
It used to worry him because he was happy with Ian. They'd been together long enough that even the idea of fucking someone else was distressing. But Ian--Ian was a smart asshole, and dragged Hoechlin into their trailer, into their hotel rooms and houses until Hoech knew what they were, and it didn't startled him to see them together.
Sometimes, JR thought he saw envy in those beautiful eyes before Hoech looked away from them kissing, but he never said anything.
Ian did. Ian would send texts, new pictures that made JR flush and want. Would  murmur about Hoech’s broad shoulders rippling in the cool air on set, the way he always seemed so fucking eager to please them.
Ian fucked him, slow and teasing the way he knew drove JR insane and his voice would be tight and breathy as he said, “You want me to fuck you while Tyler sucks your cock, baby? Or do you want to fuck him? Get him spread out all over our bed, and work him open, while I blow you? He could ride you, while you rim me, you’d like that wouldn’t you, baby?”
He always came, hard enough his vision went grey around the edges, and Ian would laugh, after, and kiss him, sloppy and affectionate.
It settled something in him, when they did that. Made him think--this was ok. Wanting this was ok.
~*~
<Bohan> [image attached]
<Bobo> ooooh, darling. What did I do to earn that?
<Bohan> those pictures of Hoech and you.
<Bobo> i’m calling you.
~*~
“Hey, babe”
“God, Jay, you always sound so fucking good, when you’ve come.” The groan Ian gives is delicious, crawls up his spine, tingles there and makes him wish he could get hard again.
“Fucked out and half asleep?”
“Mmm. Still rumbly and low. It’s almost a growl against my skin. I like it.”
“You’re ridiculous.” If it were anyone else, he’d be embarrassed by the fondness in his voice.
“I’m not the one who got off because of a few sunset candids.”
“You knew I would.”
“I did. Was it good, baby?”
“Yeah.”
“It would have been better if you were here.”
“I told you to stay.” Ian sounds exasperated, but affectionate and JR wants to curl in his arms.
“That’s asking for trouble.”
“Or maybe it's taking the chance you want.”
~*~
He wakes to photos and a good morning text, and he scrolls through them.
Hoechlin looks beautiful, always. But face slack with sleep, hand fisted under his pillow, long lashes dusting his cheeks--he’s flawless, and JR wishes like hell he was there to see him wake up.
He flicks to a different text thread and smirks.
~*~
<Bohan> hear you're in town for a few weeks by yourself.
<Bohan> we should get lunch
<DOB> yeah, man, when and where.

The Tuesday Chat on Wednesday
(1/24/18)
This almost didn’t happen, folks, because my husband is working night shift and I am super tired and I’m expecting my youngest to start crying any minute now. But.
This week’s Chat is dedicated to Teen Wolf. Kind of. Mostly. I have some thoughts.
@slightestcomplication said:  Is Teen Wolf worth watching? I feel like the fic fandom has probably ruined me for the show, as the writing won't be as good and the characterization less consistent. Fair? Or am I being too harsh? TY!
Okay, here’s the thing, I limped to the end of season 4 and then kind of half-assed the beginning of season 5 and literally could not watch it anymore, it was so painful, and there was no Derek. I couldn’t even bring myself to watch Derek come back in the farewell episodes. BUT:
The first season is kind of charming in how awkward and terrible it is? So I’d say that you could probably enjoy that for what it is, a mostly fun introduction to the characters, a baby-faced Stiles to stare at, Derek ACTUALLY lurking, like he just hangs on in dark places for real, it’s kind of hilarious. The plot is simplistic enough that it doesn’t seem too stupid.
Second season: SUPER BUFF ALPHA DEREK SHIRTLESS 90 PERCENT OF THE TIME FOR NO REAL REASON. Vamp Erica. Isaac crying over taking pain from a dog.  Boyd. I mean, there’s also the whole weird lizard Jackson thing but mostly it’s about Derek’s werewolf betas and how bad of an idea he had to turn a bunch of maladjusted outcasts.
First half of the third season, uh, weird alpha pack stuff, honestly not great in a sea of not great, but it kept my interest. It’s worth it to get this far just for:
The second half of the third season.  Look, DOB’s acting as the nogitsune is pretty phenomenal.
And then, THEN, you get Stiles actually going to Mexico to find Derek in the beginning of season 4.
The rest is… I mean, there are only really HIGHLIGHTS through-out the series, but while I did finish out season 4, I think I lasted maybe 2 episodes of 5 before crapping out. The writing is just so inconsistent and Scott’s self-righteousness gets SUPER old and if someone let them write another season I’m pretty sure aliens would have been involved, it just got too wild.
Conclusion: I wouldn’t discourage you from giving it a shot, but the fic is definitely one hundred percent better than the show.
Anonymous (definitely not @lissadiane) said:  What makes you decide to switch fandoms? What fandoms have you been involved in? What did you like best about each one? When will you write Winterhawk?
I feel so attacked right now! Ha ha ha, no, okay, so while I do enjoy the wonder that is Bucky and Clint making out and falling in love, I’m just not into writing superheroes! I guess that could change (especially if a certain someone wants to jump onto that train and I just have to follow).  I don’t know, I don’t like to write anything off completely. Only time will tell.
I’m not sure HOW I pick new fandom, it just kind of happens. I can’t even remember how I got into any fandom except for my first: I liked to peruse this one junk website, “Junk” was in the title but I can’t remember the actual name of the blog. Anyway, they’d linked to a random story, I think it was probably Harry/Ginny. I’d never even HEARD of fandom before, my first email address was from the college computer lab, and the internet confused me until I graduated and got a job at an internet start-up company (that tanked, as they all mostly did, 2 years later). ANYWHO. That aged me, right there.
So, quick fandom history: with a few crossover exceptions, basically I was in Harry Potter (03-05), then SGA (05-07), Bandslash (07-10), Brief Period of Time where I was Out of Fandom and Writing WHATEVER, and now Teen Wolf (12-present). As you can see, I’ve been in Teen Wolf the longest, even though I’ve written more Bandslash fic than anything else so far. I really think it’s the werewolves. I’ve always really really loved them, even before Teen Wolf.
Things that have drawn me to each are…
Harry Potter: wizards and witches!
SGA: SPACE ADVENTURES IN ANOTHER GALAXY, also Rodney and John. Also Ronon. But mainly Rodney and John.
Bandslash: boys in bands? Patrick Stump? Ryan Ross’s rose vest? The Cobra? William Beckett’s legs? Maya Ivarssan’s legs? VickyT? There’s just so many characters to chose from and they all intersect at some point, it was amazing.
Teen Wolf: Stiles and werewolves.
I’d need to find something I really connect with to switch fandoms. I read in A LOT. I can read anything, honestly, as long as it’s well written and compelling, but I can’t write in everything. I’m still kind of settled in sterek for the time being.
Anonymous said: If you could choose any actors and writers in the industry, who would you pick to write and star in TW? (You don't have to recast every role. TH could still be Derek, DOB could still be Stiles).
This is REALLY hard to imagine, mainly because I’ve had 5 years to hone these characters with certain specific faces in mind. For writers, basically anybody but Jeff Davis. Throw TWO OF MY THREE CATS at this show and they could write a better episode than Jeff Davis. It’d just be, like, an hour of Scott and Stiles eating at a diner and hissing at each other.
But, okay, for some reason I keep imagining Dan Radcliffe as Scott McCall, hapless teen wolf.  And he plays it like he’s Dan Radcliffe, not a character. I don’t know, that dude just amuses me to no end. I really want to see him accidentally bitten by a werewolf.
@booklady27 said:  This is more of a Teen Wolf comment than an ask, but whatever. There’s a city in Wisconsin (Holmen) whose street names have a peculiar amount of Teen Wolf references. The one that gets me the most is Hale Drive that turns into Wolfe Drive. NO JOKE! There’s also Hale Road, Hale Court, and Derek Avenue. It just makes me think that the Hale family founded the town and started naming the streets with their names (no Laura, Cora, etc., though; I checked.). [1/2]
It would be their own personal joke that Hale Drive turns into Wolfe Drive. What’s also funny is that there’s a Hunter Court. It makes me imagine that a Hunter family moved into a new subdivision in their town, so they decided to be funny and name the street Hunter Court. I can’t NOT drive through this city without snickering to myself that the Hale family owns it and are trolling everyone! Holmen, WI is legit the setting of a fanfic! [2/2]
I would definitely read an AU about this.  There should be super blatant werewolf references all over town too. And a kitchy monster-themed coffee shop that a oblivious Stiles frequents!
Thank you to all who sent me asks!! Please feel free to send me more for next week :))

Hey Dob Stans, Let’s Talk...
So first off, I want to say that I don’t know if Dob is going back.  I personally don’t believe it, but that’s not what this is really about.  Secondly, this is for the stans, I don’t care to fight or discuss with the haters, they’re not worth the time. The only reason I’m even talking about this is because I know a LOT of you are up in your feelings and I just want to hit you with this friendly reminder:
If Dylan O’brien decides to go back to Teen Wolf, the only thing that makes him is a good and forgiving person.
It doesn’t make him a flop, it doesn’t make him a failure.  It doesn’t make him gullible and it says nothing about his net worth, his cache in Hollywood nor will it have any negative impact on his future career and more importantly... my love for him and his craft.
Y’all know I am petty af and this show has freaking hurt and burned me and because of that I would love nothing more than to see it burn to the ground so I can salt the earth it’s scattered on and nothing can grow there again.
I’m not Dylan O’brien.
Dylan O’brien who last year nearly got dragged to death, survived, persevered and shot as a lead in an upcoming franchise making film.  Dylan O’brien who traversed continents only to come back and fulfill his contract to a show that has a character he will always cherish and love.
Dylan O’brien who is now preparing to traverse more continents to film a movie that will directly mirror the set on which he got injured.  Dylan O’brien who has always treated his fans with respect and decency and is always lauded for how kind, and generous he is.  Dylan O’brien who can do whatever he wants, when and however and he wants because he’s freaking earned it.
I know Teen Wolf has used and abused him and treated him like crap. I know about stretching him thin and then using his name to try and hide their complete incompetence.  I know about using him to openly lie to the media and fans about their nonsense. I was there when they hinged an entire season on him knowing he wouldn’t be available and then decided to launch a romance knowing that he wouldn’t be there. I know about the ideas he had that they stopped listening to, about the scenes he had to say no to, about the ones they made him do anyway. I know about the times they told him no just because they could and I know how they’ve consistently shown exactly how little they respect him while denying (and yet somehow exploiting) how much they need him.
What I don’t know is what it would take for Dylan to preserve the integrity of Stiles. I don’t know the relationships he’s formed with the people on set (not just the cast) and how he separates them from the show itself.  I don’t know what kind of pressure he’s getting to return and how it feels to try and preserve the love you had for a project while in the middle of its downfall.  I don’t know what could be said to convince him to come back, but I do know if he does, while I’ll be disappointed, I won’t stan for him any less, I won’t be worried about him.  Our boy is a trooper and he’s gone through hell; if coming out the other side for him means doing Jeff a solid and wrapping up this crap show then that’s what it means. I’ll just probably take a smooth break and wait until Amas comes out!
When Dob deserves to be dragged, y’all know I do so (albeit with great reservation because bae), but there are enough unknown variables involved in making a decision like this, that I don’t think it’s fair.  Dylan has shown us that he has the ability to make excellent choices. I don’t know what could justify him going back, but I trust him to know and understand his limits and the impact of his decisions. Call me a hypocrite, call me a stan, but he’s been through enough with this crap show, that he knows what’s up, even when we don’t.
I’m still under the impression that all of this will be moot, but if you’re starting to waver over something we have no stakes in, and no control over, it’s time to refocus.  If anyone can withstand this mess completely unscathed, It’s Dylan. Rest in that fact and focus on the amazing future he’s going to bring us.

Oh wow A Different World! I’ve been thinking about that show a lot lately. Especially with all that talk about the Roseanne show.
(Sorry this is going to be long and rambling but I have some thoughts. They gonna end in Teen Wolf, naturely, but if this is too much of a long ride you can just ignore me. I just wanted to play with this for a while now.)
For those who do not know (wow that makes me feel old) A Different World was a spinoff from the Cosby Show that was “unique” in a way as that it was a show that lost its main character after the first season and then had to totally reinvent itself and went on for 5 more seasons. It was about a young girl going to college and the people she met: her roommates, the boy who liked her, an “antagonistic” queen bee and her mentor.
Then at the start of season 2 the girl had left college. (I’m not gonna go into the whole ‘pregnant actress, Cosby Show, purity wank’ of it all, look it up if you like to.) And now every role on the show had re-evaluated. Who was the antagonist if there was nobody to *be* antagonistic to? What did the roommate do without a a roommate? The crush without a crush?
The show became an ensemble show for a while (they introduced new students to the college but they didn’t become the new mains), they tried new pairings and let their characters evolve. Some characters left and some became really popular and pulled the focus. It was really interesting to watch.
Which brings me back to Teen Wolf. Fandom likes to play the “what if Scott had died in the premiere” game and I enjoy every version of it. (Mainly because it shakes the staus quo.) But what if Scott had left after season 1? (Now I’m trying to be fair to both Scott and Posey here, neither are my faves but I don’t want to be mean. Maybe Posey got the movie deal of a lifetime or became a musician or something. Bottom line he left after season 1.) How would the show have handled that? (This is of course in reality where the writers can spin *anything* that gets thrown at them.)
Everything that happened in season 1 still happened. Peter was the alpha. He and Kate died. Derek bit Jackson. Allison and Scott got together. And now?
First of all how is Scotts absence explained? Did he move? (His mom still doesn’t know he’s a wolf.) Did he die? Is he just off to the side? (That’s an old Boy Meets World joke)
And how does the show progress? Does it become an ensemble show? Does someone new become the “new” Teen Wolf? And who? Does Jackson? Or Boyd? Or Isaac? Or Erica?
And how do the other characters evolve? With Scott gone, Stiles isn’t the best friend anymore. (And if we go with a “new” wolf, Jackson hates Stiles, Boyd/Isaac doesn’t care for him, Erica had a crush. Every choice would alter his “role” in the show.) Allison isn’t the love interest anymore (esp. if the “new” wolf were Erica, they hated each other). Who does she become? What is Dereks role? (His relationship to his betas and to Scott differs a lot.) Does Deaton still show up? (Who besides Scott has a connection/trust to him?) What is Lydias role? (Is *she* the new love interest? Antagonist? Side character?)
And which story lines continue? Does the kanima still happen? Or Peters resurrection? Gerard? (Or even later the Alpha pack? Nogitsune? etc)
I just find this fascinating. You still have the groundwork of season 1. The rough outlines of the characters if you will. But now they have to reorient themselves. Become more (or less) then they were. (And, of course, if this was a reality were new options were possible, there still would be Sterek, right?)
I know this got very long. I don’t know if you are even still reading this but this was just a very interesting rabbit hole. I could imagine 3-4 different shows depending on how (or with whom) the show would’ve continued. I hope you found this even an ounce entertaining.
I think it would have been easier to replace Posey at the end of season 1 than in subsequent seasons. This is all hypothetical, of course, since both Posey and DOB were contracted for years so it was probably never likely to happen.
But despite the title, Teen Wolf always was an ensemble show and was marketed as one, and the supporting cast would have been well-placed to pick up the slack if Posey had left. There have been plenty of shows that have recovered and redirected after the loss of a main character, admittedly with varying degrees of success:
Spin City
The Vampire Diaries
Nashville
Two and a Half Men
House of Cards
Transparent
The Office
I think there are a lot of really interesting directions Teen Wolf could have gone in, which is why AU fanfics can be so fun to explore!
