i talk abt/ draw summer so little but she is like. my fav fav i love her sooo much n i love the specific niche she presents to the story that i rarely ever see in media but also rnm does a LOT of casual things u rarely see in long form media I LOVE HER!!!!!!!

For me that’s Beth Smith, she just reminds me too much of my family as a whole, especially in the later seasons with Space Beth and stuff, like the way she’s such a distant mother to Morty but so loving to herself? One problem I have with the Rick and Morty season 6 finale is that they didn’t fix Rick-Bot. And I don’t mean physically, I mean they didn’t let him tell people he was a robot. That’s where his suicidal tendencies came from, the guilt of deceiving people he loved. Well, if he can tell people he’s a robot, then he’s not deceiving them, and he can become another member of the family like Space Beth.

Or is the only reason the family loves both Space Beth and Home Beth is that they’re in a kind of Schrodinger's cat situation? As long as they don’t know which one is “real” then they’re both equally real and unreal and therefore both equally deserving of love? But as soon as the waveform collapses and one is revealed to be a clone that Beth would be hated and potentially ostracized?

People have a weird obsession with someone being “real” or “the original” in media. Both Beths are worthy of love because they’re alive. Rick-Bot is alive as far as I’m concerned (well, he was) because he’s a sapient individual. This gets into the robot life debate, but if you think Data’s alive, Rick-Bot is alive too. He’s got Rick’s memories and a desire to love Rick’s family, the only difference is he’s nicer about it. If the family can tolerate both Beths, it should be able to tolerate Nice Rick and Dick Rick.

I was rewatching the bethcest episode with @richiemorty and I mentioned how some of space beth’s dialogue comes off so demeaning to home beth, like she looks down on her for (possibly) choosing to stay (“I don’t get it, you’re the house wife I’m the space lady but you’re the one who chewed me up and spit me out” & a lot of the dialogue from the s4 finale/s6 premiere as well) and they hit me with pointing out that the two beths are kind of like the two sides of feminism to a certain degree, with one saying being anything close to a house wife is demeaning and the other side saying doing whatever you want to as your choice as a woman is fine

#my mind was blown call me morty [I am booed off stage] #anyway as far as the beth love goes and it connecting to her self love I really hope we explore more into space beth learning to understand #and respect home beth for staying/being a present parent and putting effort to make it work in her family life #home beth shows signs of not being envious but in awe of space beth and how independent she is #but it’s clear that her independence has gotten to the point where she doesn’t think she needs her family at all #that’s slowly changing this season but she still tells them all to fuck off at the slightest thing #home beth respects herself and is comfortable and happy and proud of where she is with her family #she knows and us as the audaicne knows it’s not as simple as ‘woman gives up dreams to be mom and wife’ #but space beth still looks down on her almost like she is ashamed of any part of herself that still needs or wants to be there for her fam #anyways let’s get that self respect ladiessss #rick and morty
