MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. – A pay increase of 7 to 10% was still on the table on Thursday for Miami-Dade County Public Schools teachers and already some were celebrating. United Teachers of Dade, which represents more than 27,000 MDCPS employees, announced that the union and the school district had reached a favorable tentative agreement. The school board has yet to vote on it. “Historically, they have always signed every tentative agreement that has been approved,” said Karla Hernández-Mats, president of the United Teachers of Dade. The tentative agreement as it stands on Thursday also increases the pay for the district’s paraprofessionals by 6% and for clerical staff and part-time employees by 4%. “This contract is proof of the collective power we have and what we can accomplish when we work together,” Hernández-Mats said while standing behind a podium with a “Unions Matter” sign.

Шмыгаль бьет тревогу и просит экстренную встречу с донорами Киева

Премьер-министр Украины Денис Шмыгаль бьет тревогу и запросил экстренную встречу с западными партнерами в январе из-за «крайне высокой неопределенности» в вопросе бюджета страны на 2024 год.

Об этом сообщает Bloomberg, ссылаясь на соответствующее письмо, которое Шмыгаль направил координационной группе из представителей стран G7, контролирующей выделение средств Украине (MDCP).

Отмечается, что в письме Шмыгаль заявил, что Украине финансирование нужно уже в следующем месяце и оно должно быть направлено на нужды основного бюджета Украины, а именно на «поддержание работы правительства, выплату зарплат учителям, госслужащим, а также выплату пенсий».

«Для поддержки макроэкономической стабильности очень важно, чтобы мы получали достаточное, оперативное и предсказуемое внешнее финансирование, начиная с января 2024 года», — говорится в письме.

Шмыгаль просит доноров провести внеочередную встречу в январе перед запланированной в марте.

«Мы не можем ждать до марта, чтобы финансировать наши социальные нужды», — подчеркнул глава Кабмина.

В публикации Bloomberg отмечается, что пока неизвестно, как адресаты отреагировали на письмо и согласились ли они на встречу.

Согласно утверждённому госбюджету Украины на 2024 год, плановые доходы бюджета составят 1 трлн 780 млрд грн, а общие расходы — около 3 трлн 350 млрд грн, то есть его дефицит составит 1 трлн 570 млрд гривен. Для его финансирования Украина рассчитывает на получение поддержки от партнеров.

На днях министерство финансов Украины заявило, что потребность Украины в международной помощи на 2024 год была уменьшена почти на 4 млрд долларов — до 37,3 млрд долларов.

27 декабря первый вице-премьер – министр экономики Украины Юлия Свириденко заявила, что без финансовой помощи от ЕС И США в ближайшее время украинцам будут задерживать зарплаты и пенсии. По ее словам, отсутствие обещанной финансовой помощи помощи в начале 2024 года приведет к тому, что украинская экономика окажется в режиме «выживание», поэтому поддержка партнеров «нужна срочно».

Конгресс США вернётся к рассмотрению вопроса о помощи Украине только в январе (и перспективы пока непонятны). А ЕС будет принимать решение о выделении средств 1 февраля.

A two-day summit in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador concluded today. With a focus on clean energy, the Summit saw increased collaboration, particularly in the export of Canadian resources like critical minerals and hydrogen to meet Europe’s rising demand. Prime Minister Trudeau highlighted significant progress in Canadian hydrogen exports and announced the facilitation of the EU's purchase of De Havilland water bomber aircraft, fostering Canadian job growth and enhancing Europe’s firefighting capabilities.   A Green Alliance for a Sustainable Future To combat climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, the Leaders launched the Canada-EU Green Alliance, solidifying their commitment to environmental conservation. Canada welcomed the EU into the Global Carbon Pricing Challenge, emphasizing the importance of pollution pricing in the fight against climate change while supporting the middle class.  

Addressing Global Challenges

Facing Conflict and Supporting Ukraine - In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Prime Minister Trudeau announced Canada's deployment of an official to the G7 Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform, ensuring support for Ukraine's reconstruction. Additionally, Canada is donating almost $60 million worth of small arms and ammunition, part of the $500 million military assistance package announced in June, to bolster Ukraine’s defenses. Standing Firm for Peace - Trudeau reiterated Canada’s unwavering support for the Israeli and Palestinian people's right to live in peace, security, and dignity, without fear.  

Digital Partnership for the Future

Harnessing Digital Power - Canada and the EU deepened their commitment to the digital space with the launch of the Canada-EU Digital Partnership. This collaboration aims to address new challenges in digital transformation, with a focus on increased cooperation under Horizon Europe, the world’s largest research and innovation program.   Trade and Finance Achievements Economic Collaboration - In 2022, Canada and the EU reached a trade value of CAD $147.0 billion in combined goods and services. Military Assistance and Rebuilding Ukraine

Supporting Ukraine - Since February 2022, Canada has committed over $2.4 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, including various equipment such as Leopard 2 main battle tanks, armored combat support vehicles, anti-tank weapons, and more. The Canadian Armed Forces have been actively involved in delivering over 14 million pounds of military aid within Europe from Canada on behalf of Allies and partners. Establishing Coordination - The G7 Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform (MDCP) was established to ensure close coordination among major donors and international financial institutions to help advance Ukraine’s rebuild and build industry capacity.   In concluding remarks, Prime Minister Trudeau emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “When Canada and Europe work together, we create good, middle-class jobs, we grow strong economies, and we make progress in the fight against climate change.” The Summit marks a significant step towards a stronger, prosperous future for both sides of the Atlantic. The day of the fundraiser we will provide you with special colored and “regular skate rental” tickets to hand out as you receive your printed tickets back from your attendees. After tickets have been sold or collected by your staff at the door, we will check in all your guests via our cashier booth window by collecting half the colored ticket in order to enter our facility. At that time, they can purchase an inline rental ticket in place of the regular quad skate ticket. 30 minutes prior to ending we will settle up bill.
