20-24 Game Changer (Seasons 1-5)
Tumblr media
The first season has a couple...strange episodes, but the really find their footing in the second season and it becomes so fucking funny. The ideas this crew comes up with are actually genius, like the episode where they fool their contestants into participating in an escape room involuntarily. Or the many iterations of Sam Says where they push the bar further and further as to what can be considered a command. I don't think there's a better game show out there than Game Changer, worth the subscription to Dropout on its own.

77 & 78. Class of '09 + The Re-Up
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the worst games I've ever played. Not in terms of quality, but solely in terms of how fucked up every single character is. Like, you skip class, sell crack, and get at least four people arrested for sexual misconduct.
And it's so fucking funny. The main character, Nicole, is just as snarky as I wish I was in high school. She doesn't take shit from anyone, does things her own way, and depending on your choices, ends up anywhere between dating a lesbian after her house catches fire—or succeeding in the most heinous pro-revenge story for someone who probably genuinely deserved it.
Also Jecka is definitely a repressed lesbian and has the hots for Nicole.
10/10 highly recommend.

100. I'm in Love with the Villainess
Tumblr media
I'm so happy this got the anime it deserved. I was really worried it was gonna be a cheap thing they made just to make a quick buck but it was thankfully so much more than that. While the light novel is ahead by a considerable margin, this just feels like the best way to experience the story, as if it was meant to be told through animation all along. Praying we get a second season. Yuri anime never gets second seasons, but god does this one deserve it.

66. Sleepless Domain (Chapters 1-21)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am IN LOVE with this comic. It's such a cool take on magical girls, with them being influencers and celebrities while trying to be the city's protectors. You immediately see them more concerned with their status and popularity and the ramifications of them not taking the "protector" part very seriously. The society they live in is party to blame—that whole setup is just very very intriguing. They're nailing the execution too, I can see where some of the payoff for the lore is heading. I am so excited to keep up with this series.

16. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Tumblr media
What a POLARIZING experience this was. Really high highs, very low lows. Overall I think I enjoyed my time with the game more than I disliked it, but this is absolutely a one and done experience. I don't think I ever want to play it again fghgfghj
The first thing that jumped out to me was the story—it's better than any of the more recent Zelda titles that have released in the last ten years (I'm looking at you TotK). The characters are so fun and expressive, and it even gave us the best version of Link and Zelda's situationship. They are SO cute in this game, that even as a raging lesbian I can appreciate them. It also gave us Byrne—he kicks ass.
I hear a lot of people complain about them but I never had much issue with the touch controls. They were responsive and the enemies are just slow enough to get around the bit of discrepancy you'd have as opposed to having button controls. I think we need more games with silly controls, that's kind of a lost art, and it brings charm to a game.
The pan flute was fun at first, it was just a silly little instrument that you blow into the microphone to use, but then I got to the fire sanctuary. That. That right there. That's the reason I will never play this game again. The fire and sand sanctuary songs are SO finicky, it took me HOURS to complete both. Everywhere else it's fine! The first three sanctuaries? Not a problem. Using it in the overworld? Not a problem. Just. Those last two sanctuaries make my blood BOIL.
Train's fine. I didn't really see much issue with it aside from the stupid one-hit kill demon trains. (Especially that last area, jesus christ why are they FASTER than you?) But oh my god it is impossible to upgrade your train in this game? I got three parts. THREE. I DIDN'T EVEN COMPLETE A WHOLE SET. You don't even unlock the ability to customize your train until you unlock the water realm so I just didn't think you could do it! Also you don't unlock fast travel until way too late. Like it's appreciated but they're so out of the way and come in so late that I basically never got to use it.
That's another thing, this game is so backloaded with sidequests, that I did like three before making it to endgame. Once I realized that you were basically forced to marathon all the sidequests in one go if you wanted to 100% it, I lost interest. It's all bunnies and ferrying people around anyway so who cares, I'd probably just get another pearl necklace for my troubles.
I do like that you can wear the conductor's outfit tho.
Anyway this game is definitely fun and worthwhile if you're a Zelda fan—especially since it comes packaged in with Zelda's most important role in the whole series. Seriously Nintendo, why can't we play as her yet? Why is she always being sidelined as a damsel in distress? Her name is in the fucking title for god's sake.

This manga is beautiful. If you're a crier, you're gonna need to drink several gallons of water to stay hydrated. A heart-wrenching experience through and through.

92. The Boy and the Heron
Tumblr media
Absolutely stunning movie, probably the best animation from Ghibli to date, and that's saying a lot. That being said, the story...wasn't all there. It was long and meandering, and things just kinda happened and kept happening. There is a lot to process, and I still don't think I fully understood everything. I get that most Ghibli movies are like that to an extent, but even this felt extreme. I'm sure if I thought about it more and did some research I would come to have a greater appreciation for it. I don't really feel like doing that though, because despite all that, I still did really enjoy the movie. I may not have understood a lick of what was happening, but it still appealed to me on a level that even I don't think I understand.

60. Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion
Tumblr media
I think if I saw this movie before knowing there was another movie coming out, I would've been a little peeved at the ending lol That being said, because I know there is more, I can appreciate it for what it is. Especially the character writing, the PMMM characters are really compelling—Homura specifically. Watching her twisted character arc was very satisfying in a weird way. Also Bebe was silly, I liked her.

72. Little Goody Two Shoes
Tumblr media
Coming off the heels of Pocket Mirror GoldenerTraum earlier this year, I was very excited to see that LGTS would be releasing so soon after it. I quite enjoyed my time with Pocket Mirror, it wasn't my favorite RPG horror game, but it did have a lot of what I was looking for from the genre, so it quenched my thirst for a time.
That being said, Little Goody Two Shoes is LEAGUES better than Pocket Mirror ever was. I had only found out recently that PM's story was written on the fly as they developed the game, and while that method can work in some situations, I don't think it quite worked for Pocket Mirror. It did, however, do wonders for Little Goody Two Shoes.
Somehow, the lore they crafted specifically for Pocket Mirror works a million times better in LGTS. Rather than being drip fed Elise's story in Pocket Mirror, you get to play out her journey—see everything she went through, and it's just so good.
The overall gameplay is a huge step up as well. There's a whole life sim aspect during the day, with people to talk to, mysteries to solve, and minigames to play. During the night is when the game most closely uh...mirrors Pocket Mirror. It's you usual RPG horror game—something I'm quite fond of—with puzzles, enemies to avoid, and things to collect. It's still a formula I quite enjoy, even long after the RPG horror craze has passed. But there was one "puzzle" in the crow woods that I just fucking LOATHED. There were these shaking trees and birds that would pop out and peck you if you did the wrong thing. But I never figured out what the "right thing" was no matter what I tried. So I just ended up bolting through and tanked the damage. Terrible. I hated it. Thankfully that's the only part about the game I genuinely did not like.
The game isn't really all that scary (barring the serpent woods), but what I felt beyond that was this deep-seated dread. I knew what happened in Pocket Mirror, I knew what was coming, and yet I was powerless to stop it. I just had to sit and watch as Elise ventured further and further into the woods... Okay well there's some alternate good endings as well, but we all know what the true ending is.
The addition of the dating subplot is actually ingenious. You get to know these girls, really understand them—all while you watch their romance blossom. But you still know what's coming. You know what you'll have to do. It really gets you to care about each and every one of them, to really savor every moment you get with them.
Also can I just add how funny it is that there are no male suitors? Like, that kinda shit never happens outside of yuri VNs or lesbian dating sims. Elise is a LESBIAN and there's nothing you can do about it.
Little Goody Two Shoes is a wonderful return to the classic RPG horror genre, with some modern touch-ups, a fantastic story, wonderful characters, GORGEOUS artwork, and a killer soundtrack—anime opening included! (More games should do that.) Absolutely recommend to those who love horror games, lesbians, or Pocket Mirror. Hell, even if you haven't played Pocket Mirror, it works very well as a standalone title.

15. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Season 1)
Tumblr media
Frieren is a delightful series. The opening premise of an elf watching her friends die around her is already compelling enough, but the themes and storytelling that follow it just brings the whole thing together. My favorite part of the whole thing is the mother-daughter relationship Frieren and Fern have with each other. It starts off kinda superficial, but watching them warm up and get to know each other on a deeper, almost familial level is just so sweet.

13. Spare Parts (Episode 1)
Tumblr media
I knew basically absolutely nothing going into this game. Not the art style, not the general premise, nothing except for just two lines my friend kept repeating. "Trans robot brain problems" and "homoerotic disassembly scene". My expectations could've been literally anything, but I settled on something dark, gritty, and surprisingly relatable. Something akin to Signalis, but a visual novel, and more mundane. That's not at all what it was, it's like a silly 4-koma turned into a visual novel. And it's SO funny. Every character has their own little stats screen with shit like "cool," "nice," "shy," or "dumb." Dumb is my favorite. The main character, Lucy, her dumb stat is maxed out. At first I had a few questions about the plot and how the hell she didn't figure out they were robots—but then I realized—she's dumb. Literally issues I have with her not piecing things together can literally all be explained by how stupid she is.

19. Monkey Man
Tumblr media
This movie feels so important right now, given everything that's going on in the world. It was really nice getting a peek into the Indian trans community and the cultural significance, especially when I wasn't expecting it at all. It also started off pretty slow which was a nice break from the constant key jangling of most modern films.

2. How Do We Relationship? (Volume 10)
Tumblr media
This series once again shows its mastery of the craft. Sae and Miwa are still closely entangled in each others lives and provide more of a supporting role, helping each other figure out the difficult parts of dating. It's a fun dynamic! We also got some interactions between Sae and Tamaki as well as Miwa and Yuria. All in all this volume was real feel-good, even despite the angst sprinkled in there.

89. Regarding Saeki Sayaka (Volume 2)
Tumblr media
It took me a very long time to finish this book, and I think I figured out why. This novel is telling us all stuff we had already known from the manga series. It's basically just Sayaka's retelling of what happened before the events of Bloom Into You. It really is just kind of Sayaka going "woe is me, take pity on what I had to go through." And it didn't even include the part of the manga I was hoping to see the most—Sayaka's encounter with her ex, Yuzuki. Overall this novel was just very unfortunate, since I did quite enjoy the first volume a lot. I'm still holding out hope though, the final volume covers completely new material and it was the one I was itching to read from the get-go.
