🖊 Harald (hope it's the right way to do it haha)
(Yes it is :3)
So at first I didn't know what to talk about and then three things came to mind and I didn't know which one to pick so I let digital chance decide.
Tumblr media
Harald's voice (being Psyker Loner) goes all over the place, we know that. Either he is screeching so high he's producing ultrasound and breaking glass or he's using his suave normal deep voice which shocks everyone almost more than his screeches. All in inconsistent intervalls.
And despite that, or maybe because of that, he's actually a good singer. Not the best of the entire squad of Hab Unit CR1-PT1D5, that goes to someone else of my characters but he's pretty good. His dancing is also solid. Again, also not the best, that once again goes to another another one of my characters (why my Squad so talented lmao) but still good. Where he excels tho is playing the piano. Due to his upbringing of seeking shelter in many different places and with many different people during his turbulent youth he ended up working in in basically a pub for some time. Before they found out that he's a Psyker he got taken care of pretty well. For him it was a happier time of his very harsh life, though short-lived.
The owner took him in like a son and taught him how to play and entertain the crowds with song and music. It's nothing Harald brags about or brings up much. It takes a lot to get him to open up about more emotional parts of his life already so singing and playing is too precious to just show off to simpeltons.
But he very much enjoys playing, since it's some of the very few things that can calm his mind and drown out all the voices and visions that constantly flood into his brain.

I was very uninterested during the aeor arc and was hoping another arc would start after that I would be interesting in. I disliked Molly as a character so while I'm glad that people are happy about this I have zero emotional investment in it at all. Next episode might change my stance but right now still not feeling great.
So, let's unpack that for a sec because I'm actually kind of curious and nothing about what you said is coming from hostility unlike other asks I've been sent about this or takes I've seen, so thank you for that. Like, srsly its refreshing lol. So, because of that, please don't take what I say next personally, its really more me using this as a springboard because its been on my mind (and you did also, like, make a point to tell me about your disappointments lol)
Why do you think the Aeor arc wasn't interesting to you? For me, it was one of the MOST interesting, but I also really love exploring new places in Matt's world. I would sit for an entire month or more of lore drop/architecture description. A lot of people really have been vocal about hating the Eiselcross arc and I've had a theory that it might be because it has been slightly less RP focused, as in like between the PCs? There's been more RP walk-n-talk - like the West Wing of DnD.
I am also not a big Molly fan. I didn't like him when he was alive and I didn't like dead fanon Molly even more. But there's something really profound about the impact he had on the M9 regardless of my own personal issues with his character and his resurrection this way was so god damn poetic. I love that for the cast too! Look how happy they were! I'm curious why some people can't look past that inherent dislike and see the story for what it is, or at least enjoy the improbability of how it all played out?
I guess I have a hard time understanding like,, I dunno. I don't know how people, many people, can sit through almost 550+ hours (add another 447 for cr1) but only be 'satisfied' altogether if you personally vibe with every single hour of it? every single arc?
Like. I know I'm supposed to say that I 'understand' why people might feel disappointed, and I do when it comes to sadness the campaign is ending and that we won't get to see these characters as much outside oneshots, but I genuinely don't understand the disappointment in storylines that maybe you just don't generally enjoy when you have THAT much content to sift through.

Talks Machina Highlights - Critical Role C2E55
This week’s guests are Laura Bailey and Taliesin Jaffe! This week’s theme: leaning hard into the post-con tired. This week’s conspiracy: beards. Why? How? WHEN?!
Tumblr media
Announcements: General Admission tickets for Gen Con on August 2nd go on sale tomorrow at 10 AM Eastern Time! Everyone was really blown away by the love at ECCC (over 200 people were at one of the CR cosplay meetups!). Kickstarter update: with 30 days left in the campaign, over $7.6m has been raised thus far. If the next stretch goal is hit, there will be an entire 10-episode series. Brian and Laura also know Ashley’s idea for a one-shot and he’s excited to see it happen.
There will be no episode on Thursday, March 28th and no TM on the following Tuesday due to family commitments and half the cast being out of town.
Without further ado, it’s time to discuss Episode 55: Duplicity!
This episode sets the campaign 2 record for most player d20 rolls at 211. 230 was the record number of d20 rolls in campaign 1, in episode 114. 752 damage was dealt by the Mighty Nein, 280 of which was against each other. Jester and Caduceus both dealt 44 damage, none of which was friendly fire. By the end of the episode, the M9 had 8 spell slots left among them (of 45 total).
Taliesin’s reaction to last episode: “Maaaan. Ow. That hurt.”
For Clay, Taliesin only keeps notes for things he thinks he’d pay attention to. He occasionally peeks at Laura’s notes, mostly for entertainment value. Sam has the most detailed notes at that table right now.
Laura’s strong reaction to Caleb going bad was partly Laura just “giving Liam a lot of shit, because we’re actually siblings,” but this kind of betrayal was also a new experience for Jester.
Are they feeling betrayed by the M9? Taliesin: “Nah, he had siblings, man. He’s fine.” Laura: “Jester does not have siblings. She was pretty distraught about Caleb doing that.”
Tumblr media
“This doll definitely comes alive at night.”
There is a very strange puppet show with Laura playing Caleb and Taliesin playing Jester until they decide it maybe makes more sense to swap.
Taliesin’s first thought with the explosive arrow was “Fuck, that’s expensive.” He knew Jester had the spell slot and he knew Clay would be okay. “That was not dumb. It would’ve been worse to be at the mercy of that creature there for a moment. I was toast no matter what. Better to do that there so we could get it in right away.” Laura points out that Sam had the explosive arrow prepped for that action regardless.
Jester is “definitely fighting the fear that she faces during battles now, because she feels mortal,” especially after seeing Caduceus fall. But at the same time, she is “at her core, a protector, both physically and emotionally, of people.”
Laura points out that she doesn’t heal in battle as much because she knows that she won’t be able to overcome the damage enemies are doing; it makes more sense to save lower-level spell slots to bring people back from unconsciousness than to heal people who are nearly down.
Gif of the Week: an extensive (and amazing) dice fail compilation!
Taliesin: “Oh man, that vision from the Wildmother was really good. That was Matt just giving me a big hug for everything that happened.” He’s excited to see some backstory hints there. “This is not what rattles him. Other things rattle him.” He’s of the opinion that grave clerics have probably been pushed to this place in ceremony a few times before.
Jester feels good about the revivify spell, but it’s also made the power of her abilities feel a lot more real. “Healing’s always second for her.”
Clay’s death experience was mainly just significant to him because it involved the Wildmother basically giving him a thumbs-up. “He definitely has a philosophy on the notion of destiny that’s very specific.” Taliesin’s excited to see how Caduceus will act if and when siblings show up. “I think he’s a trash fire. I don’t think this is the Caduceus you get when his siblings are around.”
Laura mentions the blood lust that comes up whenever Matt mentions that a baddie is “looking pretty rough”; it tends to make it tough to concentrate on anything else.
Fan Art of the Week: the revivify spell and Caduceus’ vision.
Jester’s bravery pre-dragon came from naiveté. Now it comes from love, and the people she surrounds herself with. “It’s like she’s trying to find the bravery herself.”
A question points out that Percy’s inventions indirectly led to Nott firing that explosive arrow... and hence he was somewhat responsible for killing his own character. “This is literally what the character was intended to do. This is literally what Percy was invented to do.” He absolutely thought last campaign that he may be killing a future character with his actions as Percy.
“Jester believes in the other gods. She just thinks that the Traveler is way cooler than any of them.” In her mind, the Wildmother has the same sort of relationship with Clay as she does with the Traveler. That’s why she immediately took the “go get his mom, he needs help” approach with her plea to the Traveler.
Is Caduceus holding a grudge against Nott? “I think there’ll be a little bit of a ‘hey, little buddy, be a little more careful there going forward’ talk.” But things happen.
Jester has had a bit of a “Fuck, I should have been there for Molly, too” reaction after the revivify.
In Clay’s mind, fiends are slightly better than the undead. “They’re better, but they don’t belong here. It’s like having an infestation in your home.”
“In retrospect, Nugget really should’ve stayed with Momma a little longer.” Sprinkle’s well-protected. “That’s how I’m saying Sprinkle is not dead.”
Taliesin has really been enjoying his first experience as a cleric. "There’s a lot of satisfaction to looking Matt in the eye and ruining something he’s been working on.”
Search for Grog Questions! CR1 SPOILERS ENSUE!
Taliesin and Laura felt like they didn’t miss a beat going back to Vex/Percy: “Fuckin’ power couple, man.”
Laura had no recollection of the joke about Percy losing his arm in the original episode and was extremely confused. Taliesin honestly didn’t believe Matt was going to do it, but he respects Sam’s commitment to the bit.
The Golden Snitch actually got stolen at some point when Matt’s car got broken into. Taliesin now has an Anti-Snitch that’s been working pretty well.
There’s some ideas thrown around about what to do with Percy’s arm. Some sort of greeter/wacky inflatable tube guy is the general consensus.

Critical Role
Favorite character:
In CR1, Percy and Scanlan. And gonna sound so hipster but I did legitimately like Percy prior to the Briarwood arc. I liked his place as the more subdued person that didn’t need fanfare for his support. And then I was scared and intrigued when he was more...forthcoming in that arc since he was quieter before (I think I read this was also because Taliesin was bit shy starting out but got comfortable). And Scanlan, was the man I shed tears for because I kept crying ‘oh god, someone please notice. Someone HELP HIM.’ They both had some serious gut punches and their stories did shift the dynamics (of the story and the party respectively) permanently. They are also great support and yet also had some amazing solos.
In CR2, Caleb and Fjord. I just like me some sad boys apparently. I think Caleb’s bumbling and trying to do right but struggling with doing what’s good for you so painfully relatable. As of writing this, I haven’t caught up yet but I’ve seen him make such leaps and bounds in terms of letting people in and being a support to others. I also think mechanically he’s a show of how the drawbacks like his fear can make for good moments. As for Fjord, he’s just in general how I think a moral compass or herder character can be done without irritating both the player and viewer. I mean morals of this cast is more wonky but in general Fjord seems to put forward a general ‘we all get through this’ and respect towards the team.
Least Favorite character:
In CR1, Keyleth. And no, it’s got nothing to do with Marisha. She’s cool. I honestly felt bad for her because Keyleth had to pick up the moral slack whenever Pike wasn’t there, which was often. Some of her best moments were when she had to draw the hard line. But it was far outweighed with having this moral high horse for some reason even though they promptly do something just as low down as the ones she looked down on. Also, I feel it’s hard to do a character that is naive but also very likable so again, sorry for Marisha.
In CR2, I like so many but I’ll go with Mollymauk. And it was a bit of a shame because he was like the one person I heard so much about. I did like that he was the one that tended to push into some of the best shenanigans I’ve listened to. However, he was just fine. There wasn’t much to push him into love him so much nor much to say I dislike him. I’m a little disappointed of not being able to know what his deal was I guess was what I would choose if I have to say what made him least favorite.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
Vax’limore - Their interactions just oozed banter and playfulness. There was no intro to how that this happened, it just jumps into their flirtations. And it was that cute banter and the real ‘I’d do anything for you, my friend’ that ended up hurting seeing Gilmore have his heart strings pulled as they did. Like if you love him, let him go. For real. Don’t dangle it in front of him like that.
Pike/Percy - Weird thought but I thought it was pretty clear that Pike liked Percy. Everyone sees her as a stalwart beacon but she still has wants and falls off from time to time. But she tries. And she saw something within Percy that was dark and I don’t think it was necessarily ‘I want to fix him’ but ‘I want to save him.’ And Percy find a light in Pike like many do but also seeing her as just Pike.
Perc’ahlia - I mean, it’s canon. Thing is that I can’t pinpoint a moment when it began. Just that it happened and that felt okay. I think they’re both maniacs in their own right and it’s kind of cute how they indulge each other’s passion/excitement. Gifts feels like Percy’s love language and he shows it so much in how he tinkers for Vex and her glee in what new way she can fuck shit up is enough for him. And also it’s really delicious the parallel with them and the Briarwoods and Laura has stated that if Percy had died died, that it was possible Vex end up the same kind of menace Delilah was.
Vex/Zahra - In some other life, they would have been the femme fatale couple. All of their interactions were enjoyable and they so clearly enjoy each other. Just looking over and it’s the eyes with them.
Widobrave - Partners in crime. I think that their dynamic isn’t simple and that’s what’s so interesting. They see each other as someone to protect and don’t exactly see how the other views them as the one to be protected. And they have ‘without question’ sort of trust in each other and are genuinely awed and so happy when they witness one do something great. It gets sad with more of their backstory. And it gets me that both immediately felt guilty for keeping it a secret from them. Not the entire party, their partner. They both have seen past appearances and see the strength, the zaniness and the brilliance the other possesses and I can’t wait to get to more of their moments.
Character I find most attractive:
CR1: Gilmore. My god he was gorgeous. Vax why did you just walk away from that? Raishan. Look, she was hot and smart and even if she fell eventually, she made the most of when she was there.
CR2: Cali is so frickin’ adorable. Like she’s so cute and hey, if not for the whole cult chasing her thing, it’d be nice to stick around and sightsee. I am also a ‘Jester is really cute’ person.
Character I would marry:
I don’t really think there’s anyone I’d actually--well, I think maybe Pike because stronk lady that can get into mischief with but at the same time just be able to be content with.
No one in this campaign so far.
Character I would be best friends with:
I would LIKE to be friends with Cassandra because everyone continues to ignore how this woman has been tormented and then thrust into very important position. All while harboring guilt for what she had to do to survive. The girl needs a break and I’m here with a blanket and some tea.
I would like to be friends with Nott actually. She’s really cool and I think it’s fun to let her be her zany self.
a random thought:
So who is really credited as the inventor of firearms, Percy, who did technically make it, or Ripley, who is the one that sold the schematics to make them mass-produced?
Is there just an abundance of mysterious magic ladies in Wildemount or what?
An unpopular opinion:
Scanlan deserved his anger and feelings of being unappreciated. Even if he was brought back, it does not lessen that there was uncertainty nor the lack of respect towards his body. Vox Machina had gotten cocky and it drove one of their members away. Vex and Vax were the only ones that took Scanlan’s frustration to heart and did not mess up with Tary for that reason. Also Tary was a parallel of the worst of the party, which is why most of them couldn’t stand him.
The small races are not fucking children. I don’t get why they get called children or thought of like that. They’re just short, goddammit!
My Canon OTP:
CR1: Perc’ahlia for above reasons.
CR2: None to be seen so far?
My Non-canon OTP:
CR1: Because I’m hella fucked up, I am enamored by the thought that Percy had a crush on Ripley. Because she paid attention to him, one of the younger and less interesting of his family. And to him she was brilliant and she took advantage of that, which is how he survived or why they got in. And Percy never forgot or forgave her.
CR2: “And they were roommates” “oh god they were roommates.” * whispers * I kind of liked Fjord and Molly. They felt like foils that were amicable with each other aaaaannndddd actually had nice interactions?
Most Badass Character:
CR1: NO MERCY PERCY
CR2: Shakaste is pretty awesome and Khary Payton is awesome.
Most Epic Villain:
CR1: Raishan. Like I wish she could’ve been a bigger villain but alas the dice were not on her side. I think her arc was the most interesting as she was the true threat in the party’s eyes despite there being a dragon terraforming their home.
CR2: At this point? There hasn’t been a major villain for the party.
Pairing I am not a fan of:
I don’t really have anything I can’t ship in this one.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
Can’t really say anyone ‘screwed up’ since this is a lot of improv and all that. So I guess miss chances I think would only really be Molly since y’know, he’s dead.
Favourite Friendship:
CR1: Pike & Grog - They’re Best Buddies, y’all. I can’t get over how much they just pal around like that’s just the usual for them. And technically it is. They can go get wasted together and then kick ass after. It’s just the casualness of their relationships and how much respect and lack of reverence that I like. Pike is just Pike to Grog so he finds no reason to hold back or hold her as a light unlike the rest of the party. But he does want to do good by her because she’s his friend and he doesn’t want to disappoint her. And Pike never insults Grog’s intellect and actively works to help him improve and deflects the party’s remarks of how he is.
CR2: Empire Kids - They’ve come a long way from their seats of mistrust and standoff-ishness. I think there was a post that put it best that they’re ‘learning how to human.’ And because they both are at the same point of it, they are struggling together. As a result they’ve come to lean on each other to keep themselves from going to far. They’re not perfect but they’re trying to keep this found family of theirs together.
Character I most identify with:
CR1: Keyleth. Being the one to try to keep people together or on the straight on narrow isn’t easy. It sucks and I’m not usually the person that should do it but here I am.
CR2: Caleb. I am very off-beat and odd but I do want to have friends and the like....just not stellar at showing that...
Character I wish I could be:
I mean, this is D&D where awesome shit goes on all the time. So anyone I guess?

criticism below the cut
i say i’ve moved on from it but it’s the same as me “moving on” from a lot of shit that went down in critrole 1. i just like..... stopped talking about it bc i was tired of the discourse lmao
anyways since it’s been burning tracks in my head i just wanted to get some of these thoughts out.
mollymauk dying... was so senseless. like it’s kind of bullshit how it went down ngl. i mean yeah the whole “dice decide how the story goes” thing is valid i guess as a playstyle... but this is like. the character whose whole DEAL was coming back from the dead so i mean??? i feel like??? there could’ve been a narrative workaround???
i mean we could’ve had a character arc where instead of molly it’s lucien who’s coming back from the grave and m9 have to deal with the fact that molly’s dead and there’s a stranger wearing his face; or have it be like a level up mechanism for his ghostslayer class which is also a class that focuses on straddling the gap between life and death??? or something else??? there were and are so many other ways that could’ve gone down i just don’t understand why it had to end like that.
and i get that the amulet itself only works for when ur unconscious to stabilize but we could’ve had it... idk shatter and combine with his blood to trigger some class/backstory element that saved his life, or if not saved it then at least preserved it long enough for the rest of the crew to pour a potion down his throat or something like.............
i watch critrole for like... escapism. i’m not going to stop that because it’s one of if not my favorite thing to do right now and pretty much the only thing keeping my depression at a manageable level but like. god. if it doesn’t suck to have a character you’ve only just met and begun to get invested in get cut down without a single chance for them to get back up. it really sours a lot of the enjoyment.
and yeah throwing hate at the cast isn’t something i support and actively criticize but they have to be aware that their game is like... idk. i feel like once you monetize something for public consumption it’s open to get feedback of all kinds, even negative. (negative in the sense that it’s constructive criticism and not toxic hate) like they have a whole studio and website dedicated to it now i feel like it’s evolved a little from what cr1 used to be. critrole 1 was like dragon age and critrole 2 is starting to feel like game of thrones with its grimdark edge and idk if i like it as much.
i’m not saying critrole 1 was perfect because lord knows it wasn’t, but... i don’t know. the cast doesn’t seem to be receptive to critique as well as they should. their first response is defensive and it takes so long for them to accept that they did anything wrong. not just on a narrative standpoint but like. some of the things they say and do. the casual racist jokes from sam this last episode really really pissed me off but like..... like sometimes i forget that the majority of them are cishet whites and then stuff like this just. idk. reminds me.
but it’s just a game, right??? yeah... it is. but it’s also a show that reflects on the cast too. it’s improv, so it’s even more deeply tied to the people who participate in it... and i don’t know. some of the jokes on the show are done in poor taste, and it’s thoughtless and not done with malicious intent but it’s also incredibly tiring...
what really sucks is that it took me a much longer time to be this exhausted back when i was watching cr1. i think i enjoyed cr1 a lot more because it was just so much... happier? hopeful? maybe it was because it felt more... familial. maybe it was because i didn’t really engage with fandom while i was watching to catch up. maybe it was because the fandom was so much smaller and everything felt more like a close-knit community rather than a sprawling mass... not to say that’s bad but it’s also. more tiring. for me, at least.
i don’t know what i’m trying to say. i enjoyed episode 27, but episode 26 and the following week... that was ugly. ugly on both the fandom’s part and the cast’s. don’t get me started about that post colville made... eugh. what a gross little man.
anyways long story short this past week was exhausting. and ugly. and i hope both the cast and the fandom learn from this experience. i hope the cast is more receptive to critique without shoring up their defenses and i hope the fandom stops harassing them because 1) that’s fucked up and makes you a massive asshole and 2) that’ll just make them even MORE defensive and none of us gets what we want.

Daily Monster #34: Meazel
Tumblr media
Today’s Daily Monster comes to us from Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes aaaaand that’s about as much I know about them going into this. After yesterday’s big old Moloch, I’m kind of hoping for a simpler monster that I can use in my every day encounters. I guess we shall see. Without any further ado, let us discuss…
The Meazel
The basics
Oh boy, these guys have definitely been living in the local sewers for a bit too long. Their highest stat is their +3 DEX, which is somehow followed by their +2 INT? Is there a sewer school system I never learned about? So many questions. The Meazel’s WIS is slightly above average with a +1, and then we have CHA with a +0. Their lowest stat is a tie between STR and CON both with -1.
Meazels are considered medium humanoids of neutral evil alignment. They have an AC of 13, 30ft of movement, and my favorite part; a hit point pool of 10d8-10. Yeah, that’s a first for this series.
Despite their terrible constitution, these creatures still have a few interesting benefits. They get a +3 to Perception and +5 to Stealth. On top of that Meazels also have an incredible Darkvision of 120ft.
Okay, now let’s take a look at some of the feat–what the f*ck?
Wait, what?
Oooookay soooo… these things are actually insane! How is this a CR1 monster? Jeez.
Let’s start from the beginning. Thanks to a feature called Shadow Stealth, these creatures can take the Hide action as a bonus action to remind the party rogue that he just ain’t that special.
I guess they also have access to a simple Shortsword attack but why on earth would you use that when you can use the coolest weapon ever? I’m talking about the Garrote, of course. Using this weapon automatically grapples a creature and deals constant damage as long as the grapple isn’t broken. I guess if it were just this it could still be reasonable for this to be a CR1 monster, but there’s more!
Meazels get access to Shadow Teleport. It works similar to that one Shadow Monk ability except it has a range of 500ft AND YOU DON’T NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR DESTINATION. You can just… go there… as long as you are familiar with the place and it is within range YOU CAN JUST NINJA KIDNAP THE BARD. There is no save for this either; just like in that one meme the Meazel is just gone along with whatever or whomever it was holding at the time. Granted this ability works on a 5-6 recharge but who cares??? You can instantly split up the party just like that.
Tumblr media
The lore
The Meazel first appeared in Dungeons and Dragons as part of the 1st edition Fiend Folio in 1981.
They are a vicious, monstrous race that tends to live in underground areas. More often than not they can be found living in places like sewers or abandoned tunnels, but they’re known to also inhabit swamp areas.
They are described as having grayish or greenish skin tones full of warts and rashes caused by many of the skin diseases suffered by the species. As suggested by their low constitution, they have frail looking bodies and sickly eyes that are almost jet black.
Personality wise, Meazels are incredibly malicious and vindictive. They’re extremely cruel can exhibit psychopathic behaviors. These creatures are hated by all other races including themselves. They’re full of self loathing and spend a lot of their time contemplating their terrible lives. In the spirit of the holidays, imagine the Grinch, but with a side of mange and intent to kill.
Because of their living conditions, most Meazels are immune to a wide arrange of disease, at least lore wise since this isn’t necessarily reflected in their statblocks. Likewise, their mere presence is often enough to make other creatures sick, especially if there is some sort of blood cross contamination. Victims of their claw attacks (no longer a thing for 5th edition) often exhibited symptoms similar to those of the Mezels.
Meazels usually despise company and keep to themselves whenever possible. One of the few exceptions being for pets. They are known to keep creatures like drakes and spiders as companions. Despite their antisocial nature, these creatures do keep some sort of worship, particularly for any beings that might be able to help them remove their curse.
Tumblr media
The execution
Honestly this could 100% turn into a TPKing encounter if we’re not careful, especially if we want to make use of all the features this creature has to offer. Here’s what I’m picturing:
The party is sent to investigate strange disappearances that have been going on around the city. After some investigation and tracking, they discover some leads that seem to point towards the victims being dragged into the sewer systems below the city.
The reason? A group of Meazels has banded together with the goal of gathering enough sacrificed to Levistus, who has promised to rid them of their cursed existence in exchange. Or something. Really up to you on this one, the Meazel would probably fall for whoever of whatever is able to make them that offer, even if it isn’t true.
What’s important is that once the party descends below the city, they find a giant maze of corridors, heck, maybe they even run into some other underground inhabitants, like Mites. As they follow the signs of struggle down the path, there is a muffled scream of pain from whoever is at the back of the line. When the rest of the party turns to look, however, their friend is gone; though maybe, if you’re feeling merciful, they hear the sounds of combat starting on the opposite end of the wall, just around the corner.
Separating the party will definitely have your players on high alert. Personally, I think I would try to get at least a couple of them into different areas. It then becomes a matter of choice: will they deal with the problem at hand, or will they try to rush to find their missing friends? Will they make it on time? Only their choices will tell.
If at all possible, I would recommend trying to run this as two separate encounters; one for the main group, and one for the separated players. Not knowing what’s going on with the other group is sure to create a sense of urgently that will have your players on the edge of their seats.
If you enjoyed this article and would like to be informed when a new one goes up, make sure to follow us on our social media. We post new content every day of the week!
