So I decided to do an updated ref of Blueberry Ice Cream Cookie, if y’all remember him

Okay, his design hasn’t really changed at all (granted I’ve only drawn him like 3 times), this is more so I have a reference that has his new Blueberry Buster Sword, which I also tried to make bigger, but I might have not placed it correctly to make it seem that way. Maybe I should have made it even bigger and given it more of a Dragon Slayer look.

…Okay, so maybe I’ll end up making another redesign that actually redesigns him instead of just keeping minor tweaks

But one thing about Blueberry that I should probably talk about is his place in story, since his role originally is far different than it is now, given I keep retconning my origin for the Strawberry Jam Sword

So he doesn’t turn into Strawberry Jam Cookie, as she’s now her own separate entity, but he is still related to the sword, as he’s still the blacksmith who forged it. He just has no connection to the crimson gem. And he’s still from the distant past, just not as far back as he was before

Basically Blueberry Ice Cream is still the same overconfident but well meaning magical blacksmith he was before

I’m thinking that now his forging of the Strawberry Jam Sword was not out of a personal desire to create the perfect sword, nor because he found the gem and it compelled him to do so, but rather he was simply commissioned by someone else that had the gem in order for them to wield its power. Unfortunately, this forging of the sword probably didn’t end well for BBIC, as I’m thinking the commissioner ultimately screws him over in return for his work

Another idea I had for him is that he knew Strawberry Jam Cookie before she got put in her coma, and that they were friends, probably due to the fact that she had the crimson gem and he made the sword. I’m still debating that idea, since I’m not entirely sure on Strawberry Jam’s origins, and what she was like before, but I like the idea of it (they’re also never romantically inclined, just purely friends)

But yeah, that’s my updated look at Blueberry Ice Cream Cookie

I found my grandpa's old copy of Hyperion. I didn't realize I had it or when; if I packed it from their house when he died or if I had it from before that? I haven't read it in at least 15 years and remember it bringing out so many emotions. The growing unease at what Hyperion is/was/will be, the Shrike and the Tree of Pain, glimpses of other-worlds and other-times. I wonder how differently I'd feel reading it again.
