MY ABAYA JOURNEY
Last Ramadan, I took it upon myself to wear the abaya full time and to implement the proper form of hijab. Growing up, I never even really knew that there were even conditions of the hijab. It was really easy for me to wear because most of my friends wore it Allhamdullilah. However, after I put it on, there wasn’t really much “growth”. It is called a hijab journey for a reason. We shouldn’t feel comfortable in whatever state we are in. We should push ourselves and strive to become a better muslim each and every day. So, Allhamdullilah, with the will of Allah, I decided last Ramadan to take that leap. I never really thought it would be difficult, but it was at some points. It was super hard to see my friends dressed up all cute in the newest and latest fashion trends and I was just stuck, with my plain and simple abaya. But Subhanallah, I was able to grasp this sense of femininity that has been stripped away from a lot of us. Most of the trends nowadays that I was interested in was very much streetwear and my clothing resembled that of men. I was very surprised by how much more feminine I felt with my flowy abayas and began to realize how much of a slave I was to what society deemed as “cool”. I was also SUPER SUPER nervous about what people around me would say. My family, Allahuma Barik, was super supportive about it and would always throw in encouraging compliments. My friendssss! May Allah Subhanahu WaTala bless them all! The amount of compliments I received made me feel like I could do it. I would however feel awkward when everyone is rating and complimenting outfits for our group hangouts, and there’s me again, with the same ole same ole. I always felt like I was missing out, but Subhanallah this dunya isn’t worth it one bit! The trends from last year, where are they now? There are so many different clothing pieces I have laying around because they are “out of style”. But my abayas, those are an investment! I will be able to use them for long because they are simple and they don’t change with the trends every year. What is also hilarious is that my nonmuslim friends dont even notice a difference! To them the hijab in itself is very different, so they didn’t really think much which is crazy! I look like an outsider abaya or not, so might as well take it all in anyway. I also started a new job and came in wearing abaya, so Allhamdullilah, it was super easy for me to show them that this was who I am. I would surprisingly get so MANY compliments from nonmuslims about how they loved my abaya and hijab. Even this weekend, a lady at the store followed me into the aisle just to tell me how much she loved the way I dressed. These people honestly make my day because I just had this fear of always being stared at for what I was wearing. I also appreciate all the muslim sisters online who post about their journeys and pictures of their jilbaabs and abayas with information on how they style them. That truly also kept me going. I also had this fear that I wouldn’t be “pretty enough” for men! Subhanallah, that honestly defeats the whole purpose of the hijab. I began to realize that such things dont matter and that my satisfaction and happiness will only be fulfilled with putting the remembrance of Allah in my heart. I had to really reevaluate my intentions and realize that I took this step for Him (I hope I did). May Allah accept all of my efforts and allow me to move further into my journey. Who knows, maybe I will find love for the Jilbaab after this Ramadan In Shaa Allah. May Allah accept all of our efforts. If you want to do something for the sake of Allah, just do it! He will truly make it easy for you. We as muslims are different from the kuffar and some of us try so hard to blend in with them. But, we must remember that when we enter our graves, none of that will matter anymore.

Can you make a headcanon with one of the twins dating a Muslim girl?? I’ve never seen anyone write about before and I’d like to read it
- Even though she doesn't wear a hijab, Grayson is very supportive of her religious beliefs. As she said:"Just because I'm not wearing it now doesn't mean I won't decide to later on."
- He has a LOT of questions about many things she does in the day, he is sometimes confused if it's something to do with her religion or her personality.
- She says 'Subhanallah' more times a day then he can count, noticing she uses it especially when she's shocked by something, even more so if it's an unpleasant thing.
- She greets people other muslims with Es-selamu 'alejkum and after explaining it means Peace upon you, he made en effort to learn how to say it properly too.
- She prays five times a day, each time taking abdest, which she explained is washing certain body parts as a way to purify, clean herself before standing in front of Allah and covers her body. He had made sure she has a place to do her prayer in peace where no one bothers her, although he does take a peak at her every now and then, curious about it, but he never enters.
- He isn't that happy when she wants to go to a mosque, scared someone crazy might attack her or even commit a heinous crime because mosques have been a target as of late.
- He's learned the hard way not to walk around half naked or touch her when she's trying to prolong her abdest, because:"You bring up impure thoughts, Dolan and that means I lose my abdest!"
- He reads up on Islam on his own as well, finding out she's not supposed to be dating a non muslim and even worse, he's not supposed to be even alone in a room with her let alone touch her.
"The first is true because it often leads to raising non muslim children which is 'unacceptable' and the other is...basically when we marry, every touch of any kind that is affectionate will be like a good deed. If you do any of those things beforehand, they will not count once you're married and the actual sexual act before marriage would be a sin just as it is in Christianity."
- But Grayson felt really bad about the first one, knowing she might have issues with her family over accepting him.
"We can raise our kids as Muslims!" To which she smiled, kissing his cheek:"We will cross that bridge when we get to it. Don't worry about my family, because they only care if you treat me right."
- Once Ramadan comes and she starts fasting in the scorching L.A. heat, he's absolutely fully into worry mode. While he can't force her to not fast, he can sure as hell make her good, sustainable food for iftar and suhur.
- He does eventually starts fasting himself just to show her support, but also because he found out there are a lot of health benefits.
- There are so many customs to get right once Eid comes around, especially since he goes with her back home to be with her family and he can't afford to mess up anything.
- He barely even touched her around her family, only holding her hand on occasion and he kissed her temple once, not knowing her father was near.
- Lucky for him her father liked his daughter happy more than anything else and he saw how happy Grayson made her. In fact, he made sure Grayson knew he was accepted and welcome in their home.
- But the other Eid is when Grayson felt like he might throw up, despite understanding the symbolism of the animal sacrifice.
"My dad likes to do it himself with a prayer, knowing it's halal for sure. Once the animal is dead, skinned, the meat is divided into three equal parts. One third you have to keep, one you have to give to the poor and one half to those who can't afford to do the sacrifice themselves."
- And while he knows it helps feet the poor, he can't stomach being near when the sacrifice takes place and barely when the meat is divided and packed. To be fair, she can barely handle the first part herself and usually stays inside with her boyfriend.
- Grayson is absolutely flabberhasted about the fact that the Muslim new year is never at the same time and neither are Eids. He has an app to follow everything.
- It took him a bit to get used to the fact she always buys stuff on Muslim New Year's.
"Basic groceries before nightfall will bring you prosperity for the next year."
- She actually loves Halloween.
"It's dress up, eat stuff, scare people kind of a holiday and I love it."
- She's with him other holidays too, because she wants him to be happy, but it forced Lisa to cook everything with care so no pig meat or fat is in contact with the food.
- Hell, he stopped buying such products the moment she moved into their house.
- They're waiting until marriage for sex.
"I can't think of a greater gift for my husband than the one of my virginity. It means I believed we'd find each other, that I waited for him as long as it took and that our relationship was so strong that we could survive without sex."
- Sometimes Grayson thinks he'll die, but he knows she's worth it.
- "Holy shit, I didn't know muslims invented so many things!" And his research led him to discover many of the things muslims invented but were later taken and presented as someone else's findings.
- He learned to take abdest too, to read the Quran to find answers to some of his questions, not wanting to bother her all the time, finding that killing one innocent man is equal to killing all mankind and saving one innocent life is like saving the whole world which greatly differs from what the media preaches in the anti muslim segments, but also that the first words were instructing to write, read and learn.
- He can't help but smile, his heart swelling when he hears her whisper her prayers in bed before falling asleep because she claims it keeps them safe in their dreams.
- Whenever possible, he will make things easy for her. After all, he respects and loves her enough to learn more of her religion and culture because she definitely knew a lot about his considering his religion is in all the media.

Assalamualaikum sister! I hope you are doing well. I need some advice. when I was younger/reached the age where namaz became farz on me I did not have a good enough connection with Allah whatsoever and always skipped my namzez which ended only this Ramadan. I have strengthened my Iman a little bit and have gone 1 whole week without missing my namaz alhamdulillah. I know it's very wrong that I've missed so many and making them all up is impossible. what shall I do so Allah isnt upset with me? Jzk
walaykumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu, that’s a great question!
first off, congratulations on beginning to pray.. these are your first steps on a lifelong journey of spiritual reformation and falling in love with Allah ﷻ. may Allah ﷻ keep you steadfast and accept it all from you, ameen.
secondly, the most imperative aspect of leaving any sin is sincere tawbah. neglecting salah is a major sin, and alhumdulillahi tala that He guides us away from it. now, it’s time to make tawbah to never return to this sin again. i can do a detailed post about tawbah soon inshaAllah ﷻ but for now, know that you should pray 2 rakaat with the intention of seeking the Most Merciful’s ﷻ forgiveness.
the thing with salah is that the timing might expire, but it’s fardiya (obligation) never does. so even if we didn’t pray a salah during its timing, we must make it up. some people think that it’s enough to do tawbah, but i like to understand the situation as such:
if you borrowed money from someone and set a specific date by which you’d pay them back, if you don’t pay them by that date, will he just let you keep the money? or will he want it back still, even though it is late? missed salahs are like a debt in our account, we have to make them up.
if you feel discouraged by the amount of prayers you missed, and feel that it’s completely impossible, i hope you find motivation in that it has been attempted and achieved by others. i myself have 6 years worth of missed prayers that i am still working on making up. it’s a process. it takes time. Allah ﷻ sees your efforts and loves you even more for it. don’t loose hope and become despondent due to the number of your missed salahs, remember how great the mercy of Allah ﷻ is. if He has guided you towards salah, He ﷻ will also give you the strength to make up the ones you have missed. keep making dua to Allah ﷻ to make it easy for you and it will be.
if you’d like, i can do an additional post on how to make up prayers and the different systems my friends and i have used to make up our missed prayers (some of us have over 10 years worth of qadha prayers, so trust me, you can do it!)

Not wearing my hijab anymore
We’ve entered a new decade, it’s 2020. To be honest I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Eve and the hype around it, which is why I waited with a new blogpost. I think it’s nice to look back on some things, one of them being my very first blogpost on here. (link) December 8, 2015 was my very first day without hijab. I can still feel the stress and anxiety of that day. After that, I never talked about it anymore because I still felt guilt and shame. It’s been four years and I feel like I’m able to talk about this past chapter in my life much better.
So we’re going waaaaay back, beyond those 4 years!
My mother is Dutch and my father is Turkish, my mother converted to Islam 24 years ago. When my parents had my brothers and I, baba (father) felt a stronger sense of practicing Islam better as well as raising us with our Turkish identity. Seeing as how Dutch society forces immigrants to assimilate rather than to integrate. The thought and fear of us losing our Turkish identity really stressed him out.
Being in an interracial relationship asks for more different responsibilities I think. My mother and baba were integrating in each other’s culture, learning one another’s language while working hard and raising us with best of both worlds.
As we got older our parents signed us up to an Islamic elementary school. With a school bus we’d go in the early morning from Valkenswaard to Eindhoven. There were both Muslim and non-Muslim faculty. My personal experience wasn’t great, I was already dealing with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I don’t remember a lot from what I learned because I dissociated quite often. It was difficult for me to learn because unfortunately we were taught Islam from a cultural perspective and fear inducing. To me Allah seemed like a big angry man and I refused to believe that.
I remember that all female teachers wore a hijab. Muslim or not. The girls also wore a hijab starting very young. After school they would take it off, others didn’t. I remember one time after gym class that I didn’t put my hijab back on. One of the male teachers who saw us on our way back to class shamed me for it. Looking back it was so awful how at first the girls didn’t even bother or noticed. But once the teacher said something about it they started whispering loudly to each other ‘haram’ ‘she didn’t put her hijab back on!’.
There was this unspoken rule that a girl should wear her hijab ‘full time’ when she’s 12. We’d ask each other, ‘When will you wear your hijab?’ ‘If you don’t start wearing it now you never will!!’ ‘Wearing your hijab at 16 or 18 is too late, you should wear it when you’re at least 12!’ Alhamdulillah (thank God) I can say that my parents never forced me.
I switched schools when I was 8, it wasn’t an Islamic school but I still kept wearing my hijab to school as force of habit.  Once I turned either 10, 11 or 12 years old I started wearing my hijab. After age of 12 I had to switch schools again, this time a dominantly white school. From the maybe 200 students, there were 5 students of colour, 4 of them Muslim and I being the only one wearing a hijab. I was facing a lot of discrimination and Islamophobia already and it only got worse from then on. The majority of white people questioned me about every single little thing, my hijab, Islam, if I sympathize with terrorists, if my father came here for money and if I was oppressed. ‘When did you start to realize you wanted to wear your hijab?’ ‘Did you feel ready?’ ‘So you’re Muslim, right? What do you think of ISIS?’ The older I got, I hoped that the questions would stop but they never did. I had very little knowledge, yet people thought I did because of my hijab. Like I was a living, walking human museum or encyclopedia.
I started to question myself. Did I feel ready? Do I understand what wearing the hijab means? Can I justify myself to Allah for wearing my hijab though the intention of wearing it is non-existent?
It made my heart hurt so much because I had to face reality. I didn’t have an answer. At first I tried reading and researching more about Islam, but back then there was very little willingness of me to do so. I tried to move on despite feeling unhappy, guilty and confused. When I was 18 I decided to talk to my mother about it. She said she had always been worried that I never made my decision to wear my hijab consciously because I was so young. Together with my mother I began brainstorming for ideas and options. Such as trying to wear my hijab in different styles to see it makes any difference and talking with a few women who had taken their hijab off. When I listened to their stories I felt scared. Clueless of what I should do, standing at a cross roads having no idea which path to take.
Once I decided that I wanted to stop wearing my hijab, I talked with my baba. He was very confused and upset. He always tried to protect us from the Western world, so he was worried that it influenced my choice. I told him it didn’t. Although he didn’t agree with my decision he emphasized that he will always be there for me and love me. That’s all I needed to hear. I knew that baba needed his time to get used to things.
Sometimes I still think that I have to explain to others that I used to wear a hijab. Specifically to sisters who wear it. Because I understand all too well what it’s like to be a visible target of Islamophobic violence. There has become such a huge shift in my daily life that sometimes I feel like the odd one out when I’m with Muslim women (who wear the hijab).
Talking about a huge shift in my daily life. In the beginning especially, I noticed how Muslims and non-Muslims were now treating me differently. Whenever I’d greet a sister ‘Assalaam aleikum’, (peace be upon you) she’d look me up and down disapprovingly and wouldn’t return my greeting. It felt awful, I stopped greeting anyone all at once to give myself some sense of security because I was feeling so vulnerable back then. Instead, non-Muslim (majority white) people started to happily greet me. It was mind boggling.
Like it was some sort of game, I’d keep track of all these differences. How in the past people wouldn’t sit next to me in public transport even when it was busy, to by passers saying ‘Allahu akbar’ or ‘terrorist’ under their breath when walking past me, getting checked by security a lot faster or accused of stealing, always being refused when applying for a job (in my city, Eindhoven, discrimination on the job market is very high) etc.
When I have to show my ID, that has a picture of me with my hijab on, people always feel the need to tell me ‘You look prettier without hijab!’. When that happens I get a, what Dutch Iranian artist Saman Amini calls in the play ‘A Seat at The Table’, racial freeze. Cashing in the comment, reacting with a fake smile and getting back to my day. Not allowing myself to feel the hurt or the frustration.
It has definitely been a struggle the first year or two. I had to adjust to how society was treating me, nobody sees my hijab but sometimes I still feel like I wear it. A lot of my life experiences before taking it off were based around my hijab. And as I’m writing, realising it now, hurts. Wearing the hijab since a young age, I was basically robbed of my childhood and sure that may sound dramatic but it’s reality. It impacted my quality of life because I was an easy target for Islamophobic violence both verbal and non-verbal.
I got to see first-hand what it’s like to be treated both with and without hijab by non-Muslim and Muslims. Whether I’m a bad Muslim or a well ‘integrated’ (read assimilated) immigrant.
We still teach girls to judge other girls. In my time we’d judge those who chose not to wear their hijab (yet) or who wore their hijab the ‘wrong’ way. As I got older I started to realise how toxic this behaviour is. But I find that this way of thinking is still deeply rooted. Because I still have some moments that when I see a sister with a hijab showing hair, my first thought is ‘Oh My GoD sHe Is ShOwInG hEr HaIr!! AYIB!!’ it’s been happening a lot less. But when it does I mentally slap myself in the face and remind myself of how toxic that way of thinking is because it does not contribute to anything positive. The judgement I had towards myself and others has lessened immensely. I’ve become a stronger person and learned so much (I’m still learning!!). All the things I named and more, I had to experience. Before I was so caught up with myself. Trying to survive. Now I able to make room in my heart for others to heal.
I look back to these past four years a lot. Feeling thankful and amazed. Never before did I have such a close relationship with Allah and myself. Honestly, I feel ashamed when I say the following. So may Allah forgive me for my ignorance and wrong doings, may He accept my good deeds, prayers and efforts of learning…
I never prayed, sometimes during Ramadan. Like I said, I forgot what I learned as a kid because of dissociating. When someone tried to teach me about Islam I didn’t have the space to listen, my mind never saved the information. Alhamdulillah, with its ups and downs, the past four years I have now been saving the knowledge I learn about Islam. I’m praying 5 times a day, reading translations of the Quran, going to lectures with an open heart and mind. Soaking up all the information I can get my hands on, eager to learn.
I’m not saying this to brag. But to stress that once again, I had to go through these things to grow through them. I had to experience all of this in order to become the person I am today. A better version of myself. Because with this experience and knowledge I am able to stand even stronger on my feet.
Lastly, I want to emphasize that my experiences I shared above, especially the negative ones have nothing to do with Islam. It’s man-made culture. Please see religion separate from its people.
Also there is unfortunately still way too little awareness of how children mimic our words and (misogynistic) behaviour. Pretty much everything I named in my story I learned from aunties, uncles and the girls around me. So especially to us women, I hope that we can start to truly uplift each other and not tear each other down any longer.
Thank you so much for taking your time to read this. A Dutch version of this blog post will soon follow.
Take care, peace and blessings upon you all! Much love,
Nihâl

Why do Muslims think sins like eating pork and drinking alcohol are so bad that they completely avoid it but commit other sins sins like lying and cheating (on exams), being rude to parents, not praying, not covering on the daily? Why not drink from time to time?
Well, that's is one way of looking at it- all or nothing, right? But Allah swt made us human. Imperfect. Flawed. This world is a test and we will make mistakes and commit sins, some more intentionally than others. So, yes, many muslims will avoid alcohol and pork yet still backbite, still curse, still commit other sins. Why? Because we are all tested differently and we all have different hardships, different struggles with different sins. One of us might struggle immensely with prayer, or with covering, or with anything else. That is our unique struggle that only Allah swt will know the entirety of. Only Allah swt knows how difficult something is and what our efforts/intentions are. Yet what are the qualities of Allah swt? Al Ghafoor, Ar Raheem. The most forgiving, the most merciful. So, if we are going to sin anyways, why not partake in other sins? Why shun certain sins and accept others? Well, is it not better to try our very best than to give up? By the grace and mercy of Allah swt we are rewarded for our own intentions! Allah knows we are not perfect, Allah knows we will fall into sin again and again, all of us sinning differently because we were made into distinct people. That is how Allah swt made us. There is no separation between those who appear to be 'pious' and those who do not appear to be. We cannot say that just because a person commits a sin that they should commit others. It is our responsibility to do the best we can with what we have. For anybody struggling right now, in the month of Ramadan, do not despair. The fact that you acknowledge your struggle is a gift. Keep trying. Don't give up. Even your intention to do better counts! It is this little bit of hope, of faith, that changes entire lives. I am so proud of all the good you have done. Never compare yourself to others, and never compare others. Just do your best. I'm proud of you. May Allah swt make this easy for you, accept your fasts, prayers, good deeds and good intentions. Ameen.

Receiving Ramadan
How should we receive the month of Ramadan? Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him) points us in the right direction. This is a summary of various lectures on the topic.
We are about to receive the master of all months, the best of all months, the month in which gifts constantly pour forth from the ocean of divine generosity. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once mentioned Ramadan and said out of veneration: “Do they realise what is coming to them and what they are receiving?” The believer should reflect upon his connection with his Lord, the One who has made this month an opportunity for him to receive His gifts and His forgiveness. We should receive this month in three ways.
Firstly, we should have joy upon its arrival.
Allah says: Say: “In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice! That is better than the wealth they amass.”1Take a look at the manifestations of Allah’s bounty in this noble month. Sayyiduna Salman narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke to us on the last day of Sha`ban saying: “O people, a great and blessed month has approached, a month in which there is a night greater than one thousand months. Allah made fasting in this month a compulsory act and made praying in the night a voluntary act. Whoever seeks to draw close to Allah in it with a good deed will be rewarded like someone who performed a compulsory action at another time. Whoever performs a compulsory action in it will be rewarded like someone who performed seventy compulsory actions at another time. It is the month of steadfastness (sabr) and the reward of steadfastness is Paradise. It is the month of charity. It is the month in which a believer’s provision is increased.”2
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah made fasting Ramadan compulsory and made the night prayer recommended. Whoever fasts in it and prays in the night in a state of belief; seeking Allah’s reward, will be free of sins like the day on which his mother gave birth to him.”3 The Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us that in this month gates of the heavens are opened,4 meaning that it is easy for our actions, our prayers and our repentance to find acceptance with Allah. It has also been narrated that when Ramadan enters, Allah orders the angels who carry His throne to stop praising Him and to seek forgiveness for the Ummah of Muhammad.5
The Prophet ﷺ said: “My Ummah has been given in Ramadan five things that no prophet before me was given. The first is that on the first night of the month of Ramadan Allah gazes upon them and if Allah gazes upon someone, He will never punish them. The second is the smell emanating from their mouths in the latter part of the day is sweeter in Allah’s sight than the scent of musk. The third is that the angels seek forgiveness for them every day and night. The fourth is that Allah says to Paradise: ‘Prepare yourself and beautify yourself for My slaves for they will soon find rest in My Abode in the place of My generosity after the hardship of this life. The fifth is that they will all be forgiven on the last night.”
Someone asked: “Is that Laylat al-Qadr? He replied: “No, look at workers: when they finish their work they are given their wages in full.”6
Secondly, we should be wary of things that prevent us from attaining the gifts that are bestowed.
Fasting and all acts of worship were legislated to allow us to attain true taqwa: O you who believe, fasting was prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you may attain taqwa.7The essential meaning of taqwa is to place a barrier between yourself and the anger of Allah by obeying His orders and avoiding that which He has prohibited. The Ummah has lost this fear of Allah and as a result its enemies have been given power over it. Acceptance of our fasting and other acts is also based on taqwa: Allah only accepts (the actions) of people who possess taqwa.8
We should avoid any false speech. The Messenger of Allah ﷺsaid: “If someone does not leave false speech and acting upon it, Allah has no need for him to leave his food and drink.”9
We should avoid rude and obscene speech and argumentation. The Messenger of Allahﷺsaid: “Fasting is a shield. If someone is fasting let him not speak obscenely or argue.” He also said ﷺ: “Fasting is a shield, as long one does not pierce it.”
He was asked: “How does one pierce it?”
“By lying or backbiting,” he replied.
There are four categories of people who are denied Allah’s forgiveness in Ramadan and at other times. They are those who sever kinship ties, those disobey their parents, those who have rancour in their hearts for other Muslims and those who are addicted to alcohol or drugs.
The believer should be extremely careful to break his fast on lawful food, for “Allah is good and only accepts that which is good and wholesome.”10 One of the early Muslims said: “When you fast, pay attention to what you break your fast on and who you break it with.”
Prepare to receive Ramadan with pure hearts, for by Allah, abundant prayer, fasting and recitation of the Qur’an will be of no benefit if your hearts are full of darkness.
Thirdly, we should strive to do good works to the best of our ability, for Ramadan is an opportunity to take provision and to gain great rewards.
It is narrated that an angel calls every night in Ramadan: “O seeker of good, approach! O seeker of evil, retreat!”11The believer must thus constantly seek good. He must constantly seek to rectify himself and their families and those over whom they have been given authority. They should spread goodness among the Muslims and among humanity. If he has these good and broad intentions he will then be called by the angel: “O seeker of good, approach!”
During Ramadan, Imam al-Shafi`i would complete the Qur’an once during the day and once during the night so that by the end of the month he had completed the Qur’an sixty times. People used to be so absorbed in worship during Ramadan that they would hardly see their relatives or their friends. They would see each other briefly at the Friday prayer but even then everyone would be busy with prayer and reciting the Qur’an. For this reason `Id would be a joyful occasion, because on that day it would be as if people were meeting each other for the first time after having been apart from each other for a whole month.
Since the gates of the heavens are open during this month we should take advantage of this, and plead with Allah for our needs to be answered. Are you concerned with the Ummah of Muhammad? This is the Lord of the Ummah of Muhammad promising you that He will answer your prayers. So plead with Him that the Muslims are granted relief from their sufferings; that their hearts are united; that the sick are healed; that the disobedient are given the ability to repent and that the ignorant are granted knowledge. Allah says: You sought relief from your Lord, and He responded to You. He said: Call upon Me and I will answer you. Nothing is too great for Allah. “Come to know Allah in times of ease, and He will be with you in times of hardship.”
Al-Sayyidah `A’ishah asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what she should ask for if she knew that it was Laylat al-Qadr.
He replied: “Say: ‘O Allah, truly You are all-Pardoning, You love to pardon so pardon us.’”12
He also said ﷺ: “Do four things in abundance: two things with which you please your Lord, and two things which you cannot do without. As for the two things with which you please your Lord: your testifying that there is nothing worthy of worship other than Allah and your seeking His forgiveness. As for the two things which you cannot do without: your asking Allah for Paradise and seeking refuge in Him from the Fire.”13
So say these things in abundance, for they are the best things for which you can use your tongue. Say them in your homes, in the streets, in the mosques not just at Iftar or after Tarawih.
[On the basis of these two hadiths the scholars and people of Tarim repeat the following du`a throughout the month of Ramadan:
أشْهَدُ أن لا إلهَ إلا الله نَسْتَغْفِرُ الله نسأَلُكَ الجنَّةَ ونَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ النَّار(3)
Ashadu alla ilaha illallah, nastaghfirullah, nas’aluk’l-jannata wa na`audhu bika min an-nar
“I testify that there is nothing worthy of worship other than Allah and we seek the forgiveness of Allah. We ask You for Paradise and take refuge in You from the Fire.” (3 times)
اللهمَّ إنَّكَ عَفُوٌ تُحِبُّ العَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنَّا(3) يا كَرِيم
Allahumma innaka `afuwun tuhibbu-l’`afwa f`afwa `anna
“O Allah, truly You are all-Pardoning, You love to pardon so pardon us” (3 times). On the third time say “O Most Generous” (Ya Karim).]
Allah give us the biggest portion of all goodness. Make Ramadan a cause of rectification and the removal of tribulations.
Your Prophet ﷺwould expend great efforts in worship in Ramadan, and particularly in the last ten days, so emulate your Prophet ﷺ. Beware of striving at the beginning of the month and then becoming lazy towards the end, as “actions are judged by their endings.”14
Please also benefit from the Ramadan Reader, which includes an outline of Sayyidi Habib `Umar’s schedule for students of Dar al-Mustafa throughout Ramadan.
May Allah grant us His Enabling Grace to make the most of the blessed month and aid us in doing so by giving ease in observing at least some parts of the blessed schedule.

Make sure you spend the last 10 days of Ramadan in remembrance of Allah.  Pray some nafl salaah as well as doing your 5 daily salaah on time.  Make sure you read the Quran more with the meaning and make sure what you ever read, take action upon it. And most of all make sure you seek lots of forgiveness from Allah. May Allah accept all our efforts and make it easy for us.
ameen
Do remember me and the rest of the ummaah in your duaas

► MY RAMADAN GIFT!
❁ How To Become Sinless & A Hasanaat Billionaire Every Single Day! :) ❁
Bismillah Rabbi Zidnee Ilman “My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.” As our beloved Ramadan is leaving us, I thought this would be the perfect gift for everyone. For each and everyone of us to leave Ramadan sinless bi’ithnillah and become hasanat billionaires. Especially for busy Muslims who are pensive about not achieving their goals or have fallen short when compared to their counterparts. If you are dubious and feel you have not done enough, I pray this article will help you feel content, happy and confident about your ibadah. Make you feel you have achieved a lot this Ramadan – inshaAllah. I also pray that you continue these easy deeds on a daily basis. Before I state the deeds remember that your intention needs to be pure and for the sake of Allah alone. We can only attain perfection by being true slaves of Allah. The more our servitude increases, the more perfect we become and the higher we rise in status and attain Allah’s pleasure. I highly recommend that you take a print out of this article. Else this might end up being yet another article you read online but did not really benefit from. I have listed 7 easy deeds that everyone no matter how busy they are can benefit from. For ease and for tracking your progress I have also included a table. A Visual account of one’s ibadah progress is always an eeman booster. 🌸 DEED 1 | WUDU FOLLOWED BY 2 RAKAT SALAAH 🌸 Make Wudu/Ablution as perfectly as possible and offer 2 rakat Salaah with Khushoo without being distracted. Try your best to be least distracted and offer Salaah like you are seeing Allah and if you cannot do that atleast try to offer Salaah like Allah is watching your every move. Every Allah hu akbar and every Ruku and Sujood. Humble your heart and soul before Allah. Narrated Humran: (the slave of ‘Uthman) I saw ‘Uthman bin ‘Affan asking for a tumbler of water (and when it was brought) he poured water over his hands and washed them thrice and then put his right hand in the water container and rinsed his mouth, washed his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out. then he washed his face and forearms up to the elbows thrice, passed his wet hands over his head and washed his feet up to the ankles thrice. Then he said, “Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said ‘If anyone performs ablution like that of mine and offers a two-rak’at prayer during which he does not think of anything else (not related to the present prayer) then his past sins will be forgiven.’ [Sahih Bukhari] Evidence – http://sunnah.com/bukhari/4/25 🌸 DEED 2 | SUBHAN ALLAHI WA BIHAMDIHI – 100 TIMES 🌸 This simple dhikr of 3-5 minutes will erase mountains of bad deeds. Reflect on what dhikr you are making and let the meaning of the dhikr sink in and change your life. Do not make robotic dhikr where your tongue is at work but your heart is lost. Always remember whenever you remember Allah, ALLAH REMEMBERS YOU! SubhanAllah!! 🙂 🙂 What greater honour there is than Allah, the creator, sustainer and Lord of the Universe remembering us. The door of Allah is always open for us: Remember me and I will remember you. We need to find our way to and through that door. Narrated Abu Huraira (ra) : Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Whoever says, ‘Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi,’ one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea. [Bukhari] Evidence – http://sunnah.com/bukhari/80/100 🌸 DEED 3 | SAYING ASTAGHFIRULLAH THIS WAY 🌸 Are your sins worse than leaving Jihaad? Making this dhikr only one time will ensure you gain mountains of good deeds. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who says: ‘Astaghfir ullah-alladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Haiyul-Qayyumu, wa atubu ilaihi (I seek the forgiveness of Allah, there is no true god except Allah, the Ever-Living, the Self- Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance),’ his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield (while he was engaged in fighting for the Cause of Allah).” Dua in Arabic: أستغفر الله الذي لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم وأتوب إليه [Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidhi and Al-Hakim (on conditions of Al-Bukhari and Muslim for accepting Hadith)] Evidence – http://sunnah.com/riyadussaliheen/20/6 🌸 DEED 4 | DUA AFTER EATING 🌸 Reciting this small and beautiful dua after eating a meal will forgive your past sins. Just a little act of praising Allah for providing us with food. Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who has taken food and says at the end: الحمد لله الذى أطعمنى هذا ورزقنيه من غير حول مني ولا قوة Al-hamdu lillahi-lladhi at ‘amani hadha, wa razaqanihi min ghairi haulin minni wa la quwwatin (All praise is due to Allah Who has given me food to eat and provided it without any endeavour on my part or any power) all his past sins will be forgiven.” [At-Tirmidhi] Evidence – http://sunnah.com/tirmidhi/48/89 🌸 DEED 5 | HABIT OF RECITING THIS AFTER EVERY WUDU 🌸 Every single one of us wants paradise. Imagine 8 gates of paradise being opened for you 5 times a day! Narrated ‘Umar (ra): Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “If one after performing ablution completely recites the following supplication: (Ash-hadu an la ilaha ill-Allahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ash hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasuluhu) ‘I testify that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah, He is Alone and has no partner and Muhammad (ﷺ) is his slave and Messenger’, all the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he may enter through any gate he wishes”. [Bulugh al-Maram] Evidence – http://sunnah.com/bulugh/1/66 🌸 DEED 6 | RECITE THIS DHIKR 4 TIMES 🌸 Reciting this dhikr one time equals doing ibadah for 6 continous hours. And if you recite this 4 times it will be as if you have been continuously praying 24 hours a day! Imagine the reward of praying 24 hours a day – subhanAllah Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith (May Allah be pleased with her) reported, the Mother of the Believers: The Prophet (saw) came out from my apartment in the morning as I was busy in performing the dawn prayer. He came back in the forenoon and found me sitting there. The Prophet (saw) said, “Are you still in the same position as I left you.” I replied in the affirmative. Thereupon the Prophet said, “I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all you have recited since morning, these will be heavier. These are: Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, ‘adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah ‘arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi [Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise)].” [Muslim] Evidence – http://sunnah.com/riyadussaliheen/16/26 🌸 DEED 7 | SURAH IKHLAAS 3 TIMES 🌸 Nearly every single Muslim knows this but how many of us truly put this to practice or benefit from it? قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ. ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ. لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ. وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ. Say, “He is Allah , [who is] One, Allah , the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” {Surah Al Ikhlaas 112} Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported about Surat Al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur’an.” According to another version, he (ﷺ) said to his Companions, “Is anyone of you incapable of reciting one-third of the Qur’an in one night?” They considered it burdensome and said: “O Messenger of Allah, which of us can afford to do that?” He (ﷺ) said, “Surat Al-Ikhlas [Say: He is Allah (the) One] is equivalent to one-third of the Qur’an.” [Al- Bukhari] Evidence – http://sunnah.com/riyadussaliheen/9/20 Islam is beautiful and Islam is easy. Our Rabb is Ar Rahman – Ar Raheem and He azza wa jal has given us so many easy pathways that lead to Jannah. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has encouraged us to follow a middle path without going to either extremes. This is a very small list of good deeds. My hope for my readers is that they continue to do this consistently even after Ramadan ends. And to push their comfort zones and do more good deeds in the form of extra Ibadah, charity, visiting the sick, sponsoring an orphan – the opportunities to please Allah are unlimited. Real eeman once lodged in the heart of a believer should become the center of a believers life who fears and loves Allah. This eeman should never remain in a stagnant phase it should flourish like a mighty tree of righteous deeds and should be unshakable like the strong mountain ranges. Dear reader I pray this little effort of mine is a source of confidence in your life with regards to your worship of Allah and that Allah gives you and I the tawfique to keep increasing our good deeds till we meet Him in Jannah where Allah is well pleased with us. Ameen ya rabbul alameen. If you have benefited from this article please leave a comment and share it with your family and friends. Authored by Shamsiya Noorul Quloob

Day 01: The Guiding Light✨
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
🍃Allah asks us repeatedly in the Quran :
"Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts." (Muhammed 47:24)
"And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?" (Qamar 54:17)
Allah has made the Qur’an easy to learn and understand by including in It commands, restrictions, warnings, promises, symbols, hints, good news, stories, analogies, parables, stories of the past, incidents and various other accounts of happenings.Without differentiating between the arabs and non-arabs Allah has made it equally easy for all and Allah asks...
'فهل من مدكر'
So Is there any who will remember?
🍃Allah says in Surah Hadid 57:16
"Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe to be affected by Allah's reminder(Qur’an), that which has been revealed of the truth.."
Allah asks that hasn't the time come to remember Allah, understand the teachings of the Qur'an causing fear in your hearts and to live righteously.
It is something to ponder upon for our individual selves.
What is our answer for these questions Allah asks us?
🍃The Prophet ﷺ said,
"‏ إِنَّ أَفْضَلَكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ ‏"
“The most superior among you(Muslims) are those who learns the Qur’an and teach it” (Bukhari 5028)
Prophet ﷺ also said,
"‏ خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ ‏"
The best among you(Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it. (Bukhari 5027)
Prophet ﷺ also said
'Allah raises some people (in status) because of this book and brings others low because of it?'" (Ibn Majah 223)
We should think deeply about which category we might fall under.
🍃 On the Day of Judgement Quran will vouch for those who recited it.The Prophet ﷺ said :
“The Qur’an is an intercessor whose intercession will be accepted and an opponent whose testimony will be accepted. Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to Paradise, and whoever puts it behind his back, it will drive him to Hell.”
Buraydah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever reads the Qur’an and learns it and acts upon it will be given a crown of light to wear on the Day of Resurrection, the light of which is like the light of the sun, and his parents will be clothed with two suits the equivalent of which is not to be found in this world, and they will say: Why have we been clothed with this? And it will be said: Because your son learned the Qur’an.” Al-Haakim (1/756)
🍃So many questions are asked by the Qur’an and Sunnah. And Allah has given us the health and oppurtunity to learn the Qur'an. It is important that we utilize platforms like Ramadan Reflections.
🍃The Prophet ﷺ was bestowed with Prophethood when he turned 40 and in 23 years he lead a perfect example for those who want to learn and practice the Qur'an.
🍃"Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad ﷺ) to make haste therewith. (Qiyamah 75:16)
That’s how eager Prophet ﷺ was to learn the Qur’an when Jibreel(Alayhi Salam) brought the revelation. To an extent Allah had to tell him not to hasten.
Prophet ﷺ also said
"Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection." (Muslim)
We should focus on learning and understanding the Qur'an.
🍃 The Prophet’s last advices to the ummah in his sermon after Hajatul Wada’ : “…I am leaving with you two weighty things: the first is the Book of Allah, in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it.'..” (Riyad-us-Saliheen)
🍃What are our efforts in propagating the words of Allah?
Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Convey from me even an Ayah of the Qur'an.."
[Bukhari 1380]

I was raised as an atheist and I reverted to Islam on my own years ago when I was a child but now for the past few years of my life I've been experiencing such deep doubts about everything; Allah's existence, life having a purpose, prophethood etc and it's bringing me into a deep deep depression. If I'm being honest with myself, I do pray 5 or 6 times a day, keep fast, read Qur'an and listen to lectures but inside me I don't believe at all. I'm faking it and hoping I make it.
Salam Alikum,
What is Iman? Iman is theunshakable and firm belief that Allah (عزَّوجَلَّ) is the one and only God there is. Please know that I am noscholar but, from the little knowledge I have, I feel like you are sufferingfrom a weakness of Iman.
What you have mentioned aresymptoms: doubts about Allah’s existence, the purpose of life, prophethood, etc– the disease is a weakness in Iman.
First of all, Alhamdulillah thatyou realize that there is something wrong that needs to be fixed. Allah (عزَّوجَلَّ) has guided you tolook for answers rather than just going with the flow and letting your imanbecome weaker and weaker. So thank Allah for giving you the guidance to lookfor answers. And thank Allah for giving you the strength to continue fasting, establishing Salah and reading the Qur’an even while you are looking foranswers.. because honestly, many people slowly lose their deen (completely, attimes) due to weakness of Iman not being addressed. Also know that an increase and decrease in the level of Iman is something all of us face and Iman is something that we need to work to maintain.
‘Abdur-Rahman ibn 'Amr al-Awza'i, may Allah have mercy upon him, was asked about iman: “Does it increase?” He replied, “Yes, until it becomes like mountains.” He was then asked, “Does it decrease?” He answered, “Yes, up until there is nothing left of it.”
The Imam of the Ahlus-Sunnah Ahmad ibn Hanbal, may Allah have mercy upon him, was asked as to whether iman increases and decreases. He replied: “It increases until it reaches the highest part of the seventh heaven, and it decreases until it reaches the lowest part of the seventh plane.” He also used to say: “Iman is speech and action. It increases and decreases. If you perform good deeds, it increases, and if you do wrong, it decreases.”
To you, and to all the Muslims whoare reading this and suffering from doubts about their faith, my answer is:Know the Qur’an. It’s that simple.
When we read the Seerah of theProphet ﷺ, we find that theQur’an had such a strong affect on the Arabs that they would fall into sujoodjust listening to the verses of the Qur’an. The Qur’an had such a strong impacton even the enemies of the Prophet ﷺ that the likes of Abu Jahl and Abu Sufyan would hide and listen to theProphet reciting the Qur’an. Our Prophet had to only read the words of Allah topeople and they would immediately believe and accept Islam. Then why is it thatthis Qur’an doesn’t affect the hearts of Muslims today? Have our hearts really become that hardened? Or have we just stopped putting an effort into understanding this book?
Firstly, there is a big languagebarrier. We expect to just miraculously understand what is being said in thebook of Allah without making any effort what-so-ever to understand itslanguage. We are the ones in need so we are the ones who need to changeourselves to find the truth. We need to starting learning the language of thebook of Allah. And I know that this isn’t easy – it wont happen overnight.. sowhat next? What do we do in the mean time to strengthen our Iman while werestill working on learning the Arabic language? Understand the Quran. Not justread it, not just read the translation but understand it! Listen to the Tafseer (explanation) of the Qur’an. This Qur’an is enough to revive our Iman and help us understandthat something that has soo much meaning and depth cannot be from a human being– it has be from a higher power.
I say this to you and to all those who areworking towards trying to strengthen their Iman – please please select a timeof the day that you are willing to dedicate (everyday) to understanding the book of Allah. You can start with the following resources one at a time. Commit at least asmall amount of time during the day in which you listen to Tafseer. It willmake you realize in no time why you started to believe in the first placeinShaAllah. You need to make this a part of your daily routine - you need to keep doing it in the long-run, not just in the Ramadan.
Resources: 1 2
So understanding the Quran is themost important step you need to take.
Secondly, know that Islam doesn’tcome easy – it’s not cheap. You have to work hard to keep it – you have to showAllah that you are ready to make an effort and give this religion the timeit deserves.

Please try to apply the advice inthe above answer and try to spend sometime with the Quran everyday. Ask Allah (عزَّوجَلَّ) for help with this regard.. He will surely help you if He finds you trying..
The Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah theMost High said, ‘I am as My servant thinks (expects) I am. I am with him whenhe mentions Me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself; and ifhe mentions Me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly greater than it. Ifhe draws near to Me a hand’s length, I draw near to him an arm’s length. And ifhe comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.’” (Bukhari)
Hope I was of some help to you - feel free to message me if you ever need help/advice about anything else :) Ramadan Kareem!

Wishing everyone a Blessed Ramadan. May all our prayers, supplications, & efforts be accepted. May Allah make this an easy Ramadan for us (InshaAllah, Ameen). As always, lets keep those that are less fortunate than us in mind. If we can't do anything for them, at least say a prayer. Also remember the ones that are no longer here as they also need to be in our thoughts. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxFid1sA3CV-QyxxB5S-du2ZDewhn_ZgCWQIEg0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1l8hurkd8gehh

Dear Colleagues!  This is Pharma Veterans Blog Post #329. Pharma Veterans welcomes sharing of knowledge and wisdom by Veterans for the benefit of Community at large. Pharma Veterans Blog is published by Asrar Qureshi on WordPress, the top blog site. Please email to [email protected] for publishing your contributions here.
Ramadan comes every month and so does the confusion about work timings during the holy month. I think the variations have increased with time and it would be good to look at it.
I went on an employment to Saudi Arabia in September 2003. I was working with a company manufacturing medical grade PVC resin which was at that time used for making infusion bags, infusion lines, blood lines and disposable syringe plungers. Later, most of these were switched to other polymers like PP. Our business was B to B (Business to Business) and a fair portion was exports. We worked straight hours, 8.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday to Wednesday; 8 to 1 on Thursday; Friday was off. B to C (customers) businesses worked in two shifts; morning till 1.00pm and then 4 to 8 pm. The banks also worked in two shifts. Departmental stores worked straight while some were 24 hours.
After couple of months, Ramadan started. All businesses, offices, markets, even petrol pumps started opening at 10.00am. Before 10, it was almost dead silence everywhere; even 24 hours pharmacies were closed. We went to 10 – 4, all days of the week. Businesses went 10 – 1 and then from after Taraweeh till Sehri. Other than Harmain Shareefain, eight Taraweeh were prayed in all mosques and there was no plan to complete one Parah of Qura’an everyday, like it is done in Pakistan. Taraweeh therefore was a short affair. Shops which were open before Iftari also closed at Iftari and opened after Taraweeh.
I loved this routine. There was plenty of time after Sehri to take rest. That spared the night hours for long prayers if you wished to do so. It was so easy and relaxed. Even if you spent few hours shopping at night, you knew you still had time for night prayers before Sehri. There was no confusion in the morning as everything started at 10, even schools and other educational institutions. There were other good things about Ramadan like abundance of foods and fruits and price cuts and discounts. It was opposite to what we see in Pakistan.
When I came back, I campaigned for opening the office late during Ramadan. Finally, the management agreed to late opening; though not at 10.
It is true that Sehri and Iftar timings vary greatly during summer and winter. During Summer, there is plenty of time after Sehri while there is very little time after the long Taraweeh which is made even longer in some mosques. That reminds me of reaching for Isha and Taraweeh in a mosque attached to a very respected scholar’s Academy. There were still about 10 minutes to Isha. I saw that most people were coming with water bottles. In the middle of the hall, a projection screen was also being set up. I was concerned. I asked around and came to know that after Isha, there would be a summary review of the entire Parah to be recited on that night. Thereafter, a more detailed tafseer would be done after every four taraweeh. I asked when did they finish normally? Around 12 midnight was the answer I got. While the effort may be lauded, the fact remains that it was suitable only for those traders who opened shops after midday.
Back to what happens every year in Pakistan.
Few organizations show the courage to provide relief to their staff during Ramadan. It is translated into less working hours; whether starting early and closing earlier or starting late and closing early. The spirit is to reduce the number of working hours. While working in Karachi several years ago, our company experimented with starting at 6.30am and closing early. We reached office at 6.30am and had no clue what to do because the whole country was closed at that hour. We then decided to hold our internal meetings between 6.30 t0 8.30 and then started dealing with the outside world. It worked fine in the end.
Most offices and businesses do the opposite during Ramadan. They increase the number of working hours. It may sound cruel, but this is what it is. And it is done by a lot of apparently god-fearing, highly religious people. The first increase is by including lunch break time in working. This is about an hour increase, if nothing else changes. Some go a step forward and start opening earlier also. What is happening is that the staff is squeezed from both sides. The big boss comes late as usual and his life is not disrupted at all.
Why are we so confused about work timings during Ramadan? Why can’t we just have a more uniform kind of work routine? It may be same for same and different for different kinds of businesses. I see following sentiments prevailing.
There is a general sense of apathy. It translates into utter disregard for the ease and convenience of staff. I have seen many offices where the owner sits in an airconditioned room while the staff sweats outside under hot air swirling fans. Rest assured, this is much more common than you would imagine. Only a person with total apathy for other human beings would do that every day without remorse. These are the places where Ramadan timings are harder and longer than usual days.
There is a sense of greed. We see that the level of greed increases manifold during Ramadan in Pakistan. It translates into higher prices, extra profiteering, disposing off rejected goods in the rush of Eid sales and making staff work extra hours. Greed has no limits obviously. On a very famous and busy cloth shop with branches in Lahore and Karachi, the following was written in bold during Ramadan.
“Ramzan mein dukaan subah 6 bajay say raat 2.30 tak khulee rahe gee” [During Ramadan, shop will remain open from 6.00am to 2.30am].
What would you call this? I went there one day and I could see that the staff was almost on the verge of collapsing. I asked silently if they had hired extra staff to run such insane hours. I got the reply that no, they forced the same staff to work very long hours. The owners changed shifts, but the staff could not. Please note that the owners pose as highly religious and do not accept debit/credit cards allegedly for religious reasons. Is it religion or the effort to hide the actual income?
There is a sense of exploitation. All countries suffer from the same; countries like ours more so. Pakistan does not have adequate laws to protect workforce. The implementation of available laws is even more inadequate. In these circumstances, resourceful people get away with any amount of excesses committed. Fear of law is always more potent than fear of God and that is sadly missing. As for Allah, we could donate money to some charity or join the annual collective prayer and hope to appease Him.
Ramadan is a special time to seek and receive special Blessings from Allah. It is through prayers and through taking care of fellow humans; both in equal measure. May Allah show us the right way and help us to tread it. Aameen.
Concluded.

Ramadan Plan: How to Prepare Daily Action Plan For Ramadan
Ramadan goals
Ramadan goals basically include how much Quran you will read, how you can improve your prayers, what good deeds can take you close to Allah and what are some small daily tasks that will get you rewarded big time if you have the right intention. Just like we make advance preparations for every major occurrence in our lives, Ramadan also deserves the same level of preparation, goal-setting, and enthusiasm.
With the passage of each day of Ramadan, we get a shortage of time to do so many things that we had planned. So instead of regretting for the things that you could have done during the month of blessing, you can plan your month by allocating time for each goal for each day.
How to Prepare Daily Action Plan For Ramadan
Ramadan is a major event for Muslims all over the world and just like any other event, it is best to prepare for it in advance with a daily action plan. The planning requires goals of education and thoughtful spiritual experience. To avoid disappointment and frustration at the end of the month, a daily action plan shall be devised to get the best out of Ramadan.
As the Prophet (PBUH) has narrated that the value of any action is dependent upon the intention. A person gets a reward for its intention as narrated in (Bukhari Shareef). In Islam intention has supreme importance, so during Ramadan’s first night plan your month with good intentions and make a daily plan to stay on track for the whole month.
If you intend to perform all the good deed in the Ramadan planner but are unable to do it, Allah will reward you for your intention as if you have performed the good deed.
Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran that the days of Ramadan are numbered; it is so true as the Ramadan truly flies by. You cannot meet your goals until you have a complete action plan. The action plan shares a beautiful Hadith of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) as a daily reminder.
Why Download the Free Printable Ramadan Action Plan
Here are the components of the Daily Action Plan for Ramadan from Bokitta that you can download and print for free:
Prayer tracker
If you are struggling to offer five daily prayers / salah, Ramadan is the best time to become regular in it. If you tick mark the salah you have offered each day, it will give you a renewed enthusiasm to keep doing it. Also, encourage your children to join you when you are offering Taraweeh and Tahajud prayer.
Bokitta’s Prayer Tracker section in Ramadan action plan also includes Sunnah so that you build a habit of praying Sunnah along with your regular prayers. Taraweeh and Qiyam are also included so that you are motivated to offer as many prayers as possible.
Allah listens directly to the Dua that is made by the Muslims during the month of Ramadan and Allah also loves those who pray for others before themselves. This is the month in which you are closest to Allah and you shall try to make the best Muslim out of yourself. So, pray to Allah that he helps you in becoming regular in your prayer throughout the year and throughout your life.
Deed of the day
Bokitta has come up with Ramadan specific “deed of the day” part in the daily action plan. It will serve as a constant reminder for you and God willing, you will develop these habits and good deeds for a lifetime. These deeds may look like simple tasks but they will have lifelong consequences and alter your habits towards a positive change.
Quran tracker
Quran tracker is an easy way of measuring and recording your progress that how far are you in your Quran goals. In Ramadan, Muslims are especially motivated to avail every opportunity to earn extra rewards.
Quran tracker in Ramadan action plan allows you to read Quran from hardcopy, your mobile phone, or a laptop so that you don’t have to check your bookmark for how far you have reached.
Food menu
Plan in advance what you are going to have for Iftar every night in Ramadan. This way you would know beforehand what you are cooking for every Iftar, which days you would like to go out for Iftar or you would invite some friends for Iftar at your place.
Make a list of groceries in advance and make the Iftar preparation easier by planning all the details ahead of time. During Ramadan, you shouldn’t have to stress too much on what to cook and instead focus on reciting complete Quran as many times as you can and also do extensive Dikr.
Involve your kids in every single activity of Ramadan plan to arouse the importance of Ramadan in them; take them along for grocery shopping and involve them in meal preparation or setting up the table for Iftaar. Planning the food menu on the daily action plan ensures that you cook Iftaar items according to the choice of everyone in the family.
Daily Ramadan checklist
Ramadan is quite hectic for most Muslims as they keep running from one chore to another in order to earn as many good deeds as possible. In a fixed schedule, it is easy to forget to do some tiny things. Bokitta has prepared a simple yet effective daily checklist so that you reap the best benefits every day.
We havegiven careful consideration to the things we want to put in daily checklist. Here are the thing we have included in the checklist for this Ramadan:“Smiled at someone”:
It is so easy to get caught up in the busy routine and forget the importance of smiling at complete strangers. Our beloved prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: “Your smile for your brother is a charity” [reported by Tirmidhi]. So why not earn extra charity by smiling and checking off this task from checklist?
“Gave charity”:
the reward of alms and charity in Ramadan reaches up to 700 times the original reward, so even if you can spare away one coin a day, do not forget to mark this checkbox from the daily checklist every day.
“Learned something new”:
Ramadan is that time-of-the-year when we are totally geared up on becoming good, so why not learn something new and include it in our daily routine to make it a habit.
“Fed a hungry person”:
When we fast during Ramadan, it heightens our understanding of the misery of those who do not have enough money to feed themselves and their family. So, it is important to arrange for feeding a hungry person and thank Allah for the bountiful food He has given us.
“Prayer in congregation”:
Congregational prayers in Ramadan are rewarded 25 times more than prayers said at home. So, make Ramadan 2019 start of a positive habit of praying in congregation.
“Read my daily adhkaar”:
We are not restricting you to a list of adhkaar, since we cannot claim which dhikr is better than others. So, whichever adhkaar you aim to perform during Ramadan. Don’t forget to check the mark in this box every day.
“Helped someone out”:
You can aim to help someone in office, school, kitchen or on the road. Help can be emotional, financial, physical or psychological. Just aim to develop a habit of empathy and helping out anyone in need.
“Did the deed of the day”:
Every page on Ramadan action plan contains a special recommendation in the form of Deed of the Day from Bokitta. We really hope that everyone checks off this deed from their list every day.
