Today was unbelievable to be a part of the first @reorgopen_bjj competition. A charity very close to our hearts, that helps so many injured servicemen. In 2012 our dad @sonnigreen1986 was involved in an horrific parachuting accident whilst @michaelabrady was expecting Georgina. He incurred life threatening injuries which very nearly left an unborn Georgina without a dad. He joined @29commando in 2003 and finished his military career in the SBS. So today was for our dad, our very own hero and for all the other servicemen and women prepared to give their lives for our country. When @reorgcharity announced this competition we knew it was something we had to be a part of.

It was a huge bonus to meet and watch the one and only @tomhardy compete today. He supports injured military men and actually visited our dad after his accident in headly court rehabilitation centre whilst he was recovering.

We would also like to give a shout out to @fayegibo_bjj for accepting Georgina’s fight today after she over indulged on holiday. A very strong girl and a new found friend.

The results were good today double gold for both of us-for you dad, our hero ❤️ @fayegibo_bjj

The start of a journey

Early November I found Mauy Thai through my college as a unoffical club. My schedule was hectic and all over the place. Mauy thai and the group of Nak Mauy gave me a sense of belonging and stability. Even when I was working 9am - 9pm; If I could hit a late night practice I would. My schedule started to fall apart as my last semester came to a close. I couldn’t go to practice more then once a week and it was devastating. The semester ended and I all of a sudden had free time and a spot of cash. I went to a real western fighting gym, Kaizen. I flopped around for about a month. My movements weren’t great. The gym was nice... mostly targeting MMA and BJJ. Mauy Thai was at nights and worked for a while. I liked what I was doing but didn’t feel compelled to do it. It was fun and exciting. Then I went to Thailand. I went to 2 gyms in Krabi and settled into one, Krulek. It felt like a real thai experience. But after a while I realized that I wasn’t viewed as someone that wanted to learn fighting. Just as someone that wanted to get “strong and beautiful”. It lit something a blaze in me. I want to fight. Time and time again, I walk into gyms and someone hits on me or someone thinks I’m just there to dick around. I’m not here to learn how to fuck. I’m here to learn how to fight. I ended up walking 10k on bloodied feet because something in me want to prove to myself I can just keep going. I came back to the states with a new found purpose. To fight. I went to a gym an hour away, Lotus. It felt more inviting the thai gyms and more thai then general western fighting gyms. I did a week there and I’m falling in love with everything about it. I feel like I can push myself there.
