#Herstory #UnDíaComoHoy Rita Eugenia Benedicta Fernández Queimadelos (A Cañiza, Pontevedra, 12/4/1911 - Barcelona, 26/9/2008) #arquitecta española, la tercera en obtener el título en este país. Hija de Domingo Fernández y Fernández y de Modesta Queimadelos Vázquez, comerciantes y propietarios de una mercería en el centro de Orense, La Modernista. #RitaFernández sintió desde muy joven la vocación por la arquitectura pero su padre consideraba que no se trataba de una ocupación propia de una mujer. Tampoco le gustaba que tuviese que dejar su casa para poder estudiar (en la época solo había escuelas de arquitectura en Barcelona y Madrid). Gracias al apoyo de sus dos abuelas consiguió que su padre accediera. En 1928 se fue a vivir con su abuela materna a Santiago de Compostela donde realizaría cursos preparatorios de Ciencias Químicas durante 2 años para poder acceder a los estudios de arquitectura. Cursó Dibujo en la Escuela Elemental de Artes y Oficios de la ciudad. En 1930 se instaló en Madrid, en la Residencia de Señoritas, para preparar el acceso a la Escuela de Arquitectura. Ingresó en la Escuela de Arquitectura en 1932. Entre 1932-1936 superó 4 cursos académicos. La Guerra Civil interrumpió su trayectoria académica reanudando sus estudios en 1939. Se licenció el 26/8/1940 y entre noviembre de 1939 y mayo de 1940 realizó el servicio de auxilio social, actividad necesaria para poder obtener el título universitario. En la misma época había obtenido su título #MaríaCristinaGonzaloPintor (por lo que, considerando que #Matilde Ucelay se había convertido en la primera arquitecta española en 1936, Fernández Queimadelos habría sido la tercera arquitecta titulada en España). Sus actuaciones más significativas fueron el proyecto para la reconstrucción y rehabilitación del refugio de Nuestra Señora del Pilar del Patronato de Protección a la Mujer de San Fernando de Henares (1944), que no llegó a ejecutarse; una ampliación de la colonia Tercio y Terol en Carabanchel Bajo (1946); o la reconstrucción del antiguo ayuntamiento de Fuenlabrada (1946). He brings over their drinks. Hers is bubbly and violet. She sips it right away without asking what's in it. His eyes follow every move she makes.

"So," he says, sitting opposite. The orblights paint his face with a faint purple glow. "Does this visit mean you've decided to trust me?"

She swirls her drink. She wants to trust him. With so many threats against the Nightbirds, she also wants him on her side.

"You know, I'm rather on the fence about it."

"That won't do." He tilts his head the way he used to when they played games together, waiting for her to make a move. "What else might I do to sway you?"

An inaugural post for this blog!

I, Ciarán @butcheredtongue, am writing a novel. So far it is untitled, but my working title, Haunted Homage, is covering most of my bases. It's a Mediaeval Gothic novel, set in twelfth-century Brittany (for now) and seeking to examine the various social codes of Mediaeval familial, marital, and feodal duty-bonds as a tragedy of inadequacy in meeting these. The novel is plotted out, but, except for an early draft of one central scene, has not yet been written; this blog exists to aid me in writing it.

The story I am looking to tell has four central characters, these being the Lord, Guillaume, the Lady, Constance Adela, the Vassal, Aimery, and the Young Wife, Matilde. They exist both as fulfilments of Mediaeval cultural archetypes and as incredibly warped individuals.

Though this blog will often turn to being light-hearted or silly, the tone of the novel is in keeping with its Gothic genre, and, as such, expect potential mentions or descriptions of sexual violence, severe mental illness and unreality, eating disorders, and gore.
