Posting this bit separately since we didn’t wanna mix up our system-related stuff too much with otherkin-related stuff.

Tl;dr - in 99% of cases that we’ve seen personally, the “kin for fun” crowd disrespects/otherwise creates a hostile environment for systems as well as otherkin.

Edit: Maybe don’t reblog this one (I mean you can, but it’s not a “please reblog” type of post this time), on second thought. It’s.. arguably more personal and all-

Even outside of otherkinity, the identities of my system as a whole have been viewed as games, as a fun, interactive bit of inspiration.

Despite crying time and time again, we’re people, we’re alive, we’re not just characters, we’ve been treated as nothing more than characters. 

Marxie, one of my fictives, has been exposed to his triggers, his death, his harshest memories, over and over again, just to see how he’d react. Like a living askblog that never goes on hiatus.

Or at worst, for someone to take note of his personality and quirks, his “characterization”, and copy-paste it onto their own “kins”, out of an obsession to pretend to be “Marx from Kirby Super Star”. 

Let me make this exceedingly clear; not the canon game character’s personality and memories, but my fictive’s specific, personal experiences as an individual, some of which purely memories and some of which derived from trauma in this life. Even some traits unrelated to his identity as “Marx from Kirby Super Star”.

All aspects of himself as a person, taken and twisted into a fun little game just to see what the “possibilities” were. To see “what could happen”.

And despite the fact that their actions were effectively identity theft or harassment worst case scenario, those who did this saw nothing wrong with it even after we revealed ourselves as system. Even after Marx himself spoke on his discomfort.

Because to them, kintype, alter, or otherwise, Marx’s existence was irrelevant in the end compared to their own fixation with his source.

Now, this originally wasn’t a discussion focused on fictives, though the issues intersect. The very same individuals of the “kin for fun” crowd often tend to treat anyone with any sort of “fictional identity”, in any capacity, as if said identity is less real than any other. 

They already conflate copinglinks, hearttypes, and otherkinity together in one often meaningless “for fun, definitions don’t matter” pile; what’s one more experience added to the pile?
