The woman in the photograph is said to be Marie Therese of France, daughter of Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI.

• She was the only child of her parents to reach adulthood and the only family member to survive the French Revolution.

• In 1799 she married her cousin Louis Antoine, Duke of Angoulême, the eldest son of Charles, Count of Artois. After her marriage, Marie-Thérèse was known as Duchess of Angoulême. She became Dauphine of France upon the accession of her uncle and father-in-law, Charles X, to the French throne in 1824.

• Technically she was queen for twenty minutes, on 2 August 1830, between the time her father-in-law signed the instrument of abdication and the time her husband, reluctantly, signed the same document.

À notre époque où “avoir des couilles” est définitivement vu comme une qualité et “pleurer comme une fille” comme un défaut, lire cette magnifique biographie nous rappelle que, oui les femmes pleurent (nos hormones en ont décidé ainsi, c’est biologique), oui elles sont sensibles, de manière générale davantage que les hommes, mais qu’il est bon de rappeler que tout cela, loin d’être des faiblesses qui empêchent les hautes responsabilités, en sont même un avantage, car il s’agit là tout simplement d’une autre manière de faire, par rapport à celle d’un homme. La différence est de nature et non de qualité. Bien plus, cette femme qui a subi pas moins de SEIZE grossesses (!!! Celles qui en ont vécu une seule, déjà, se rendront compte de l’exploit!) sait mieux que n’importe quel général des armées ce que c’est que la souffrance physique, la peur et la résilience ! Gouverner « au féminin » présente la position de chef sous un angle nouveau qui a toujours effrayé les esprits les plus arriérés, mais permet aussi de nouvelles solutions à des problèmes séculaires. Il serait temps de comprendre que « comme une femme » doit cesser d’être assimilé à la faiblesse par ceux qui en ont simplement peur, mais doit davantage montrer les forces dont les femmes sont capables, en utilisant LEURS armes: la sensibilité, les émotions, la résilience, le sourire aussi, l’amour pour leurs enfants (vous êtes-vous déjà retrouvé.es devant une mère ourse qui protège ses petits? Non? N’essayez pas, il n’y a pas plus féroce!) Attention, je ne dis pas que TOUTES les femmes sont ainsi, beaucoup ont aussi des qualités dites masculines, yang, tout comme des hommes peuvent avoir des qualités féminines, yin. My point is, ces qualités féminines en sont bel et bien, et madame Badinter le démontre merveilleusement à travers ce portrait qui s’avère être celui d’une femme.
