Rotgoc characters and their red flags(joke post)
Jack Frost/Nightlight: Regularly says things that makes him sound like an entity failing at being a person.
Katherine: Spaces out so hard she accidentally gives the thousand yard stare to poor clueless people
Tooth: Gore is nothing to this ancient being. Blood is just added spice to her.
North: Doesn't know how to be around children despite adopting a random kid he found in the woods
Bunnymund: Thinks mint tastes like toothpaste
Sandy: Ready to knock a child out with his bare hands
Ombric: Groundhog day-s people because he thinks he can exact karmatic justice like its a fucking regular Tuesday
Manny Lunanoff(Mim): Leaves people on read too much
Mother Nature: Daddy issues, and can cause a natural disaster if she feels like it.
Pitch Black: he is the flag but is very self aware.
Sergy Lermantoff: Was okay with dating an eldritch being.
Krampus: Thinks hes above the naughty and nice list because he sleeps with Santa.

* Human Pitchiner - I couldn’t find any pictures of Human Pitch before the whole evil thing so I used concept art instead.
{just realized I could’ve included Jamie and Sophie}

Why did the Moon choose me? I have to know.

I think about the grey morality potential of rotg to this day. The protagonist resenting his creator, and sympathizing with the antagonist is a concept I am v obsessed with.
Oooh Anon. That's some good food, right there.
I think it's easy to extrapolate the relationship between Jack and the Moon, too, especially from an, 'resenting his creator' point of view. It's sad, but there's quite a few of us out there who resent our creators, who have creators that don't communicate well with us, for reasons we can't understand or for reasons all too easy to understand. In the movie, falling to the dark side is presented as such a black and white, obviously bad thing, but there's a reason why 'Come to the Dark Side, we have cookies' is such a prevalent and ringing sentiment. For a lot of us, the communities being painted as evil are the communities we feel most at home with, the communities that support us for who we are and don't judge us or try to change us.
And Jack, the moon, and Pitch? They just fit that.
The world is blanketed in shades of gray. There is nuance to everything. And often, the images and concepts we are told to dislike actually represent the best of what it means to be human.
So yeah. Totally with you on this, Anon. I could read a thousand stories that deconstruct and reconstruct this dynamic and I'd never get bored ❤ Thank you!

So because tumblr won't allow me to ask @frosted-night a question, I'll just post this and hope he reblogs. Some people think Krampus is the son of Hel, the norse goddess of death. Krampus may be related to a fucking norse god, making him more op than both pitch and mim. What do you think is North's reaction when he found out that Krampus' mother is Hel? Oh and if krampus isn't related to hel whatsoever, how did krampus get people to think he's Hel's son?

#24. For @rotgsecretsanta Man In The Moon and Jack Frost doing dumb sibling stuff
It should come as no suprise that every time Jack visits the moon he and MiM regress to ten year olds.
Literally, they often have to roll up their cuffs.
This time Jack convinced Manny that the moon dust made for a suitable snow substitute, and the dust cap for the telescope would make for a perfect sled. (To tragic hilarious results.)

In regards to the book series, I think the part I think of rewriting the most is Nightlights transformation into Jack Frost. Its no secret it's rather.. bloated in some areas.
The transformation makes me think of the life cycle of a star, moreso since Nightlights used to be stars/are made of components from stars. It'd be fascinating to see Nightlight go through such an event and resort to coming out of his isolation for help.
For example, he does indeed lose his glow and gain a solid body but much like a collapsing star; he starts getting horrid hot flashes or fevers. Nightlight could turn to Sandy or Aster and ask if they know anything about whats happening to him. Sandy knowing very little about Nightlights would suggest going to the Man In The Moon, for he might have more information.
Katherine accompanies him to help keep an eye on him and Manny has quite the reunion with his estranged guardian. He quickly realizes Nightlight is in terrible condition and offers any assistance he can. The only place he can think of that has information on Nightlights would be the remnants of the moon clipper inside his lunar home. This would show Manny's complicated feelings towards visiting his parent's former study but he'd keep himself together as best he can. Despite his underlying fear of possibly losing the only family he has left.
Him and Katherine find a journal written by Manny's father detailing what he learned about Nightlights after obtaining one. Both shocked that Nightlight has a very likely chance of dying and becoming a star again do everything they can to help Nightlight. He enters a deep sleep and his core begins to cool.
Manny gets some characterization by worrying over Jack and praying he survives. Nothing he can find says what happens if a Nightlight doesn't become a star again and its getting to him. Katherine tries to be the grounded one but both fall apart at the notion of losing him.
Nightlight eventually wakes up, maybe keeping the idea he slept for a LONG time. Manny, making sure his body was watched over and delights in his brothers awakening. Both conversing over his new form and identity.
I could go on for ages how I'd rewrite it,, but its been rotting my brain for a while.

Imagine if Pitch just calls MiM his numbering? Like current MiM is just called 11 and like their dad was called 10 by Pitch? That would be funny as hel but it also would be a bit dehumanizing which fits into his canon character. Him seeing MiM less than just like how the guardians kinda see him as less as.

[When Eve Finds Out Jack Is Also An Agent Of Chaos]
Eve [gasps, eyes starry as angelic music plays]: Kindred… [picks up Jack] I’m takin’ him home with me, is that okay?
Man in the Moon: Absolutely.
Eve [carrying Jack away]: Amazin’.
