Since the New Year is approaching, what do you think Pitch and Jack go through in terms of changes as immortal spirits? In what ways do they adapt and conform to a world that changes around them?

Hi anon! Very interesting question. 🤔

Obviously Jack seems to deal with change better than Pitch. Jack adapted a more modern outfit (or at least half of one) and has no problem just rolling along with whatever is going on at the time, like what humans are doing for fun these days or weather patterns/world events. His ability to interact with the world is limited. He has no memories to tether him to the world he first came from. He doesn’t really have a choice but to just go along with it and honestly probably enjoys the changes if only to relieve him of boredom. He might feel different as a Guardian, or once he has his memories back, but after so much time on his own, he’s probably used to the pace of change. I think he’d be excited seeing some of humanity’s advances in things like technology, arts, and entertainment, although probably kinda pissed at the gradual warming of the whole damn planet. 🙃

The idea of Jack on social media is hilarious tho. You know he’d wrangle Pitch into some selfies and shenanigans. 🤣

Pitch on the other hand knows exactly where he came from and how things have changed. I’m ignoring book canon, which has Pitch coming from SPACE, but just in terms of ‘the Dark Ages’ until present day, he’s been watching and adapting to the fluctuations of fear. I don’t think there’s necessarily less fear in the world compared to back then, but the fears are different, or within different context (diseases/war/social anxieties/etc). He has the added obstacle of the Guardians trying to oust him entirely so he probably feels like he has to constantly be on his game as humanity evolves. 

But I don’t think it’s all stress either. Especially if he’s established a more amicable relationship with Jack, I can see Pitch being amused by how the horror genre has evolved from an entertainment perspective. (Fear and fun bby <3) I am absolutely projecting here, but I love the idea of him using technology to change his scare tactics via things like analog horror and paranormal tiktoks. 🤣

…I feel like I’m only scratching the surface, but I hope that’s enough of an answer. 🤭
