The FPS game had blown up the first year it came out and you were a die hard fan of it. You had spent a lot of money trying to perfect the costume you wore and you were extremely proud of it. Hell you looked exactly like the final boss, well post transformation….

You were on cloud nine and the costume wasn’t the only reason why. This year two of your favorite gamer’s were going to attend. And, you had begged to be assigned to the area they would be at. And the golden dragon seemed to smile upon you that day as ‘access was granted’. Shigaraki and Amajiki, both Japanese gamers and both very attractive. But you didn’t fangirl over them only due to their aesthetically pleasing appearance but because they were incredible.

Shigaraki was the older of the pro-gaming duo. He had a very tragic past and poured his heart into gaming so much so that he was now living off playing games. Pretty much every look has a BAD wig. Her hair is blonde, not pure white. It’s unflattering on a lot of her friends, it’s inaccurate to the movie, and it looks super fake. Also it seems so much shinier than any other face character wig? I don’t care for the hard front either but I know the park wigs are used too often to be lacefronts, I understand and can overlook that.

Bodice is weird and bulky. Kinda has a nice sparkle, but still looks weird, IMO

Why is the cape so opaque? With such hard to see snowflakes? booooo.

Why is her skirt lined in dark purple?

Frozen Live At The Hyperion

Sparkles nicely under the stage lights, I’ll give it that, but when you can see the details in photos it’s actually kind of boring.

Kind of looks more like a Spirit Halloween costume than a Disney Park costume (especially sad compared to how gorgeous Jasmine’s Hyperion costume was)

At least the wig is blonde, but it’s kind of sloppy. Half the time when she takes it down during Let It Go the whole thing comes undone.

Same problems as the standard ice dress, but also there’s a giant, tacky snowflake on her chest

Shanghai Disney: Golden Fairytale Fanfare

First one. There’s....a lot going on on this dress. I get that they were going for a sharp/icicle look but oof. It looks like they just slapped it together.

Second one. Same sharp, kinda disorganized look as the first one, but this time in gold. I know everyone got gold outfits in this show, but I feel like the colour isn’t the problem, it’s the design of the icicle parts.

Disneyland Paris: Mickey And The Magician

This looks like a poorly-tailored prom dress and I’m so upset by it.

Weird, short sleeves, bad fabric, sparse jewels, seems somewhat ill-fitting, and not even a false bodice/skirt separation. Would it be so hard to put some decoration around the waist to at least create the illusion that they’re separate pieces?

Fifth Spirit Dress

Again, doesn’t fit quite right

There’s a lot of bunching/wrinkling around the midsection. I get that these dresses have to be shared so they can’t be made to exact measurements, but there are ways to make it so the middle isn’t so messy

I don’t dig the bare arm look. The Fifth Spirit dress has white sleeves for most of the arm. This just feels weird, imo

The patterns on it look cheap. They look lazy. I don’t think laser cutting was the way to go, there had to have been a better option

At least the wig got better. Still not quite the right colour but definitely more flattering.

I hate the stiff, sharp lines. Fifth Spirit Elsa is so flowing and free, but these harsh, art deco-looking lines on the dress don’t give that impression

The mermaid style flare is also weird. The whole bottom of the dress is just so indescribably bizarre to me

The nude illusion is such a weird choice!!!! I guess Elsa decided this is a tiddy out look

HOW DARE THEY PUT ELSA IN GLOVES. Gloves are symbolic of her self-loathing and fear and they PUT GLOVES ON HER IN HER FIFTH SPIRIT DRESS. I hate this.

Hair colour got a little better but the style got worse. We cannot win.

I know she’s also worn her Frozen 2 traveling costume in a parade and at the merch press events, but I can find precious few photos of it, and even fewer of them are good enough to see the details, so I don’t know how good it is. It was on display at D23 and I somehow did not know until after the display was taken down and I am still devastated by this.

I guess the two times she’s worn her coronation dress in the parks (at the Hyperion and in Mickey And The Magician) it’s been alright. But her ice looks are the iconic ones and Disney just....can’t get it right. They have so much money and so many resources, but broke-ass cosplayers do better with the stuff we make in our living rooms.

Lolita in Romania

This could be somewhat viewed as a look into the Lolita trend in Romania from my personal experience.

Being a Harajuku fashion Enthusiast in Romania is hard, especially when you’ve liked Lolita fashion before the early movements around 2008 and usually too shy (& sometimes too comfortable/cheap) to go around in the styles you like & would love to wear.

♪ The community here is pretty slow, but it lives. Always appreciate people here trying Lolita, enjoying it and spreading the word. Especially since it took me a long time to find (in Romania) people interested in Lolita fashion (or any other alternative Japanese styles).

The styles that I am fond of, even since before my teens, are mostly Classic Lolita, Elegant Gothic Aristocrat/Kodona and Wa-Loli. Used to search for pictures and online magazine scans for hours back in the early 2000s.

Went to Fashion Design in University hoping to evolve my love of the style but the teachers were really skeptic and tried to steer me off my path & towards more... academic & “contemporary universal” pursuits.

♪ In December 2007 I decided to join an anime club to nurture my passion for Japan & there I found the magnificent and amazing Shinju ~♪ (knew her then as an anime fan/seamstress) who shared my passion for the Lolita styles and is now a renowned cosplayer~! ♪ Went in (November?) 2008 to a convention for the 1st time. In Bucharest, it’s called Nijikon. Got to see some of Shinju’s full self-made Lolita outfits ❤ ♪ For the next couple of years the interest in Lolita fashion started growing & in 2010 with the fashion show by Shinju being held at a convention called Otaku Festival more and more girls were interested in making a community ❤ ♪ After a few more conventions & a couple of years of trying to organize a Lolita event, in 2012 I tried organizing in my home town a fashion walk & meetup and called it J-Fashion Tea Party. With my pocket money as budget I invited some friends, ordered a chocolate cake & held it at a Tea House. It wasn’t a big event. A short walk away from the central park it was the most people that have gathered for a simple meeting, walk, tea & photos. We had fun & that was what was most important~♪ ♪ Afterward it got harder to gather people and some into more alternative styles asked if we could do more events, whenever time (& my budget) would allow it I organized a few more Alternative Fashion Meetings & Walks.

Sadly, as with many small events here with no free things, stalls and more prepared, it all lasted for 2 more years with less & less people attending.

In Romania now Lolita & Japanese fashion enthusiasts can mostly gather at or around conventions, or just groups of friends into the styles hanging out.

♪ Since 2012 there have been several fashion walks and lolita events held in different cities in Romania with many more attendees than in my home town. The capital, Bucharest, having most of the Lolita community & events, followed closely by Iasi, Cluj, Craiova & Brasov.

♪ The latest event involving Japanese styles, publicly held in Romania, was at Nijikon 2016 by a relatively newly formed group of people, with a passion for alternative Japanese fashion, who want the same thing as I do, which is to spread the word and find more people into the same things to enjoy them together.

Decided to write this in hopes that someday the girls(and guys) will gather & organize something and keep the lolita flame alive.. Most events are centralized in Bucharest, with people constantly complaining about locations if they are further away then their own towns. Such issues will persist for you cannot satisfy all & as long as there will be no major Lolita event announced with at least 6 months prior, to give people time to prepare & save time & money for transport, accommodation, food & the actual event merch. The community being mostly comprised of teens and university students means their budgets are small and even in the chance that a big event will be held the lack of attendees will decrease any chances of such an event ever being held again.
