Part 2.

Takemichi:

He's so Straight it's actually sad, like i've never seen a straighter man. He actually doesn't have too much of a sexual attraction, but he's not in the ace spectrum either.

Edit: I change my mind, he's a bi king.

Mikey:

AroAce. He's in the spectrum and honestly doesn't really see the charm on relationships, he would get in one with the right person but doesn't look for it AT ALL. (He's the biggest simp when he falls tho).

Draken:

Straight Ally. The kinda ally that literally doesn't give a fuck. Would kiss a dude, doesn't care. He grew up in a fucking brothel, literally nothing about sex makes him raise a brow.

Keisuke:

AROACE AROACE AROACE AROACE. He's so in the AroAce Spec it's not even a secret. Experimented with boys and girls, just doesn't really do much to him. Doesn't look for a relationship but if it happens he'll be surprised. No gender or sex prefference.

Kazutora:

Actually, i think he's Bi. The Homophobic Gay kind. He was so in denial until he was an adult and came out to Chifuyu and Kei in such a nonchallant way in the middle of a random convo at breakfast.

Right. In front. Of their salads.

Chifuyu:

Either the Straightest one can be or Pan. He's a romantic but doesn't get in a relationship easily, has literally zero experience but when imagining kissing in the rain suddently he realised the gender of the other person was changing??? The first person he came out to was Peke J and then Keisuke who gave him a thumbs up and kept walking like nothing.

Takashi:

I'm so sorry to the fangirls but this man came personally to me and told me he's a Fully Fledged Homosexual. He's so gay, oh my fucking God. Gay gay gay gay gay homo gay.

He has so much experience too and loves girls (could be bi) but men are just *chefs kiss*.

Gay and pissed about it but 'cause he's a Misandristic Man.

Edit: I realised I was wrong, he's actually the only straight character in this whole manga, he's just unrealistically perfect and that made me not see that he is a cishet.

Hakkai:

He's so fucking Bi for fucks sake. He realised he liked boys before he liked girls and he felt SO guilty about it. He literally doesn't know what the fuck he feels for Takashi. Is it Platonic or Romantic Love? He decided it didn't matter 'cause he just loves him and that's enough.

Pah and Peh:

Both Straight but both experimented with different kinds of people. They genuinly don't care and will be your biggest suporters whatever you are. Literal definition of Love Is Love. Will beat up a Bigot for you and enjoy it.

Hina:

Bi Bi Bi (actually Pan). She had only one or two crushes in girls but she fell in love with Michi at such a young age she never really cared. She has fucking queer merch but the aesthetic ones. She is the violent gay, Be Gay, Do Crime.

Emma:

... I wish she was gay... She's so Straight. She found being queer weird at first but only 'cause she never saw it 'round. Once Hina came out to her in a casual "boys" convo she was just like: "Oh... Well, that makes sense." And moved on. Got a cute lil pin with her pronouns and put it on her bag.

Yuzuha:

GAY. She's a Pan queen. She has crushes VERY rarely, like, once every 80 years, but it never matters what gender they are. She has a "Beat a Right Wing" sticker. She is gay with a PURPOSE, the purpose is to make her brother mad. She got over her crush on Michi just to develop one on Hina... Give this girl a break.

Senju:

A romantic. Probably Pan. She falls in love every Tuesday, Waka and Omi have to deal with her talking their ears off about her latest crush "I'm telling you, they're the one!". Probably the most into Non-Binary people, she thinks it's badass and cool.

Haruchiyo:

He HAS to be Gay. Bi at most. He just likes men. He likes men. Have i said he likes men? First crush was OBVIOUSLY Mikey. Whenever he gets drunk he starts saying the gayest shit (specially towards Rindo) and the Haitani brothers just have to listen to him and pray for him to get tired and shut the fuck up. "Listen, if i wasn't into [name] rn, i'd probably fuck you too". Ok, they don't care, go to bed.

Ran:

Pan. A hole is a hole. No but fr. He doesn't care, he literally has no prefference, but actually, 'till he was like 20 he had NO PULL. NOTHING. NADA. Hit him up and he'll fold.

Rindo:

Bi. He likes boys, he likes girls, he has liked the random nonbinary cutie down the street. He just kinda goes with the flow but he has prefferences so he doesn't really call himself pan, he likes men the most, especially if they are smaller than him, he thinks it's cute. Another one with no fucking game, probably kissed Sanzu and regretted it instantly because why Sanzu?!?!?! He was drunk, let him forget it.

Hajime:

... Come on, he HAS to be Pan. He likes pretty people, whatever they are. He likes looking at people as if they were art pieces but he doesn't get crushes. Once he falls in love, it's for LIFE.

Seishu:

Probably Bi or the best Straight Ally. He likes people rougher than him and people energetic/extroverted/chaotic/talkative. Doesn't really think about his prefference so he doesn't put a label on himself. Whoever he likes, he likes. In the Ace Spectrum.

South:

... Listen. Ok. Listen to me. I swear i have a point just liSTEN TO ME.

He's gay. He's fully homosexual. And he has no real prefference about it bUT, he likes femenine men a lot. Or men shorter or skinnier than him. Or... Honestly. He just... Likes men.

Taiju:

Pfffft. He's actually Bi or Pan but so in denial, in the closet, a closet guarded by Cerberus himself and a thousand locks with a pond around it filled with crocodiles. He likes strong people who can tell him to shut the fuck up and encourage him to do better. He dreams of getting married and having a family. Ew.

Shinichiro:

He's Pan. He has an obsession with women but he gets just as down bad with men, or enbys. He likes people smarter than him. He preffers people smaller than him 'cause he gets too flustered with people bigger, but ohohoho, he LOVES heavier people.

Benkei:

I swear i can't decide. It switches every time. I think his sexuality is fluid and he's unlabelled. AroAce Spec tho, doesn't really get crushes.

Wakasa:

AroAce Spec, but he has TOO MUCH GAME. He pulls without trying. He is mostly uninterested in people and relationships. You have to be an EXTRAORDINARY person to catch his attention (I have this headcanon that he's lowkey into Shin but that's for another day). Once he falls, you are not getting rid of him.

Takeomi:

Probably fully Aro. His true love is money. If he got into a relationship it would be a VERY slow and robotic process, until he relaxes and is like... Huh... This is nice. Then a switch flips.

My Random “Dance at the Gym” Observations

Here are some of my random observations and thoughts from all the times I’ve obsessively watched DATG. This list is by no means exhaustive, but it was already getting pretty long as is 😂

Sometimes I wonder what it feels like to be all the other couples at this dance, literally pushed to the sidelines the entire time 😂

The way the Jets look at their girlfriends is just so…ugh, I love it. For such apparent tough guys, they look at their girls like they are the most breathtaking queens in the entire universe.

Just have to take a moment to appreciate how flawlessly they all move together.

Does anyone know what Bernardo says to Numbers and Maxie when he and Anita first enter the gym? That line isn’t written in the screenplay, so I can’t translate it.

Pipo and Conchi being so over Krupke will never not be funny.

I love the way Rosalia puts her hand on Maria’s back as they’re all walking away from Krupke. All of the Sharks and their girls are so protective of Maria and I think it’s very cute.

Luz and Manolo are such a cute couple!!! 🥺

The side eye the Jets and Sharks give each other while dancing is immaculate.

Diesel is such a simp for Mamie and I’m HERE FOR IT! 👏🏻

When Mamie pulls Diesel back from fighting with Chucho, he gives her a look like, “Baby, what are you doing?” with such concern in his eyes. He’s so soft for her and it’s so precious.

Luz’s face when Mamie pushes Chucho is fantastic.

It almost looks like Charita is calling Mamie a bitch 😂

I’m genuinely obsessed with the way Mamie shoves a guy, then twirls around and immediately starts grinding on her boyfriend.

Ice loves kissing Karen’s neck/shoulder. Also, she’s taller than him in her heels and it’s adorable. What a short king.

Mouthpiece was definitely trying to steal a smooch, but then Velma got distracted when the Sharks started walking by.

Same thing with Riff and Grazi.

Big Deal and Natalie are having such a moment and don’t even notice the Sharks at first.

Sorella is so aggravated to have her dancing interrupted.

Balkan’s expression changes so fast when the Sharks start moving onto the dance floor and he immediately grabs Tat’s hand to pull her away.

LOL @ Baby John and Tessie just chilling on the wrong side of the dance floor.

Action holds Rhonda so close and it’s just so 🥺

Numbers hitting Action on the arm like, “Can you believe they’re taking up our dance floor?” Meanwhile all the other couples at this dance are like, “Damn, we’re really never going to get a chance out there.”

The Sharks are the greatest hype men and women that Bernardo and Anita could ever ask for.

Riff definitely loves it when Grazi gets feisty. Look at how happy he looks when she and Anita get in each other’s faces 😂

Little Moly and Baby John hug Sweden and Tessie so tightly and it’s so cute.

Riff and Grazi with all the PDA, which they are not happy to have interrupted.

A-Rab pulling Numbers back, only to then jump into the fighting himself 🤣

All the Jet and Shark girls looking like, “We just got here, damnit! Can’t take you boys anywhere!”

Obsessed with Dot pulling A-Rab back with the lollipop hanging out of her mouth.

Rhonda screaming at Action to stop fighting, as she does.

Some of the Jet girls look upset, but some actually look a little amused as well.

I swear Mouthpiece is screaming “Fuck you” when the police separate the Jets and Sharks.

The way Tessie is clinging to Baby John while Glad Hand is talking. Oh, they’re so precious!

The way Ice makes the pig noises in Krupke’s ear and then has the straightest face when Krupke turns to look at him. Karen also thinks this is hilarious.

The way Velma looks at Mouthpiece like he just lights up her world (which he does).

Sorella is holding Skink’s hand where he has it resting on her shoulder 🥰

I’ll never get over how everyone else is looking at Glad Hand like he’s the most annoying person ever and Riff is just trying to nibble on Graziella’s ear.

Thank you, Krupke, for picking up the litter on the gym floor. So conscientious.

I love the way the boys are always holding their girlfriends’ hands.

Diesel taking a page out of Riff’s book and also trying to smooch on Mamie.

Mouthpiece and Velma’s interactions with each other behind Glad Hand are so cute.

Gussie with her arms crossed behind Glad Hand, unamused by his nonsense.

When Glad Hand tells them to get into the circles, Rhonda immediately turns to Action and her body language is like, “No!” Which is particularly funny to me because in my headcanon for them, they met during a “get together” dance when Rhonda came to a dance as an Emerald’s date 😂

A-Rab and Dot arguing because she clearly does not want to do the “get together” dance. What a mood.

Anita is owning that dance floor and Mamie and Karen are salty about it.

I love the way Tessie rubs Baby John’s arm 🥺

Riff pulling Graziella onto the dance floor like the queen that she is.

Baby John and Tessie still holding hands as they clap for Riff and Grazi. I CAN’T WITH THEM.

The way Balkan plays with Tat’s hand 🥹🥹🥹

Poor Glad Hand looking so happy when they all start getting into the circles.

Again, just laughing at all these other random couples that do not get to be included in any activities at this dance 🤣

Maria is salty at Chino for keeping them out of the dance.

That one random couple behind Chino and Maria are like, “We’re gonna dance on our own!” Good for them.

The way Riff smiles at Grazi and winks at her before the circles start moving. Oh, my heart.

Action and Rhonda watching from the side, remembering when that was them.

The way Gussie and Snowboy are watching this dance is so them 😂

WHY ARE LUZ AND MANOLO SO CUTE?!

Junior is kind of smiling at Graziella? Meanwhile everyone else looks pissed about who they ended up with 😂

Diesel ends up with Charita, whose boyfriend Mamie shoved earlier. Irony.

Junior looks like he’s actually about to dance with Grazi, but as soon as Riff realizes, he slides in there with an attitude of, “Hell no. No one dances with my girl but me.”

A-Rab & Dot and Bernardo & Anita have a very intense stare down with one another as they separate.

Mouthpiece and Velma look like they’re literally running into each other’s arms. So cute.

It almost looks like Baby John is once again pulling Tessie to the wrong side of the gym, LOL.

Glad Hand is like, “PLEASE, YOU GUYS! I’M TRYING SO HARD!”

Ice with his hand on Karen’s shoulder. These boys can’t keep their hands off their girls and I love it.

Action looks so angry when he screams, “Mambo!”

Velma looks very much like “Bitch, please” when they all yell, “Go!”

I cannot stop laughing at these random couples who are trying so hard, but can’t hold a candle to the Jets or the Sharks.

This female social worker is so into it. She definitely gets invested in all the drama.

The way Diesel puts his arm around Mamie and pulls her away when the Sharks start taking over the floor. HE’S SO PROTECTIVE OF HER!

Numbers and Maxie are a very sassy couple.

Riff always has his hand on Grazi’s waist and I live for it.

Mouthpiece grabbing Velma around the waist to push her back so she doesn’t get bumped or pushed. Such a good boyfriend.

I love the way their friends circle around Riff & Grazi and Bernardo & Anita, just cheering them on and forgetting about everything else as they just get to act like teenagers for a few minutes.

Some of these random couples have to be thinking, “Why did we even come here tonight?”

I will always wish we could have seen more of Riff & Grazi’s and Bernardo & Anita’s dancing.

Not an observation, but sometimes I get so sad when I see how much fun they’re all having and then remember this is the last dance they’ll ever attend all together 😭

Everyone do The Chino.

Tessie looks so excited to do The Chino.

Sorry, Tony and Maria, you two are naturally my least favorite part of this scene. I wish their meeting wasn’t behind the bleachers so that I could still watch everyone else in the background 😂

Skipping ahead.

Luz and Charita are like, “This little dumbass.”

Luz’s reactions to everything are the best.

The female social worker is still very invested in the drama.

While Grazi is yelling at Riff, if you look over Chino’s shoulder, Action is talking to Ice and Anybodys, but then Rhonda grabs his face so that he’ll keep dancing with her. What a queen.

“Girly girl” is the best line ever written.

I love how so many of the other couples are so unaffected by this drama and just keep dancing.

When Bernardo, Quique, and Braulio open the gym doors, you can see that Grazi is trying to follow Riff.

Then she has a little girls’ conference with Rhonda, Tessie, Mamie, and Dot.

Snowboy straight up flips Gussie over his back, no big deal.

I feel like Grazi is honestly so worried about Riff. She runs over to continue watching him when he’s trying to get Tony to come with him, Ice, and Action.

The way Balkan and Tat dance together over Tony’s shoulder is so adorable.

Rhonda and Dot commiserating about how they just want to dance and their boyfriends are so annoying.

I’m always so sad when this scene is over.
