kinda spoilers for magolor epilogue

did this at 2am, it was gonna be a animation but i knew i wasn't gonna be able to keep up doing something like this for like, 10 frames or more, so i just left it like a drawing. lately i wasnt really liking anything i was drawing but damm do i really like this one, now all thats left is for me to like my next drawing and not open 30 canvas and only finish one.

i was trying to make my interdimensional magolor gijinka, he doesnt really change that much, except for the ripped parts of his cloak and cape. the energy sphere he has is also a bit broken, but i forgot to add that when making the drawing. my magolor wears one energy sphere, like a necklace, he says it's because its the brightest energy sphere he has, wich, is a lie, but im thinking of explaining this unnecessary headcanon i had come up with just because i thought it'd look cool on him and then decide to give a reason to on another post (i wanna do a comic abt it), if you are wondering about the sclera, i forgot to add it but i was already used to this drawing not having them so i just left it like that.

i also made three versions, this one is my favourite by far, but thats just because im a sucker for bright colors in drawings like these. honestly i was kinda surprised that i liked it, i usually dont shade like this, well, i do kinda but it doesnt look like this, its a bit more messy and usually combined with cell shading at the same time, i dunno how to explain, also my lineart tends to be a bit(? more cleaner (most of the time) but i really like this one drawing of magolor, probably one of my favourites on digital, and i might start shading like this more on other drawings.

i also made a desaturated one, dont really have much to say for this one, i had a vision of how i wanted the animation to look but i couldnt get it right, in fact i was originally just gonna have plain colors, no shading, but i coulnt help myself. i planned for this like, bright background and character with more darker colors, as in contrasting, but it kinda hurt my eyes when i did the background (it was a very bright yellow) and as i said couldnt get the look of magolor how i wanted. but i still like the image, all of the versions.

This game, specifically, is the prime example of 'not being what it seems.'

Kirby Star Allies' plot is simple: Unkindness is spreading through the kingdom! Defeat it with the power of love! Befriend your enemies and safe the world!

Sounds pretty lighthearted, right?

Do you want the real plot?

Kirby Star Allies starts out, immediately, with a giant purple [Jamba] heart breaking and spreading smaller Jamba hearts across the world. Whoever gets close to the hearts turns evil. Pretty simple.

But it gets worse.

Kirby traverses through his home terrain, and saves his king (After said king turned buff for some reason?). After this, he notices: A giant spaceship has landed on his planet! So he goes to traverse across the planet to get to the spaceship. Pretty simple.

But it gets worse.

Turns out the spaceship is ran by three girls based upon three elements [Ice, Flame, Spark]. They said that the Jamba Heart, and the 'dark lord' would reign. Pretty simple.

But it gets worse.

So, Kirby tries to reason with them, but the maniacal dimwit of the Spark Lady destroyed the entire thing [Called a Jambastion]. So, Kirby goes to space to chase after her and her sisters. Pretty simple.

It can't get worse.

He finds a LARGER Jambastion, with a LARGER Jamba Heart, and traverses across OTHER PLANETS to find out what's going on. He gets to the Jambastion, and finds a mini cult ran by a dude named Hyness and the girls from earlier.

There's a piece of lore not included in the game, that the girls died due to their respective elements (Frostbite, burns, lightning) and Hyness saved them. First off? There are no humans in Kirby's world. How far away do they live? And Hyness is abusive now?

Hyness claims the same stuff about the Jamba Heart, only way more in depth, in the biggest chunk of tangible lore inside of a Kirby game. In five seconds.

He goes mad, and throws his adoptive daughters, and himself, into the Jamba Heart.

THIS. GOD DANG. JAMBA HEART. TURNS INTO SOME DARK-SOULS DND MONSTER THING. I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN IT.

It's name? Void Termina. Not ominous at all! Not ominous in my silly, friendship-based, save-the-world Kirby game!

Kirby fights this thing, on a scooter I might add, and it goes down the FIRST time. The boss has 4 phases: Dark souls, 2D boss, dark souls, 2D boss.

He GOES INTO IT'S THROAT, and with the help of his friends, PULLS IT'S HEART IN TWO.

(I'm confident he could do this on his own if he had arms)

Lovecraftian horror much?! In my silly, friendship-based, save-the-world Kirby game?!

So now the giant dark souls thing is a bird?? It grew wings?? Okay, no big deal, that's the most NORMAL THING HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. It uses giant lasers and swords and axes to defeat Kirby, as if they have beef that goes back to 1987 in the bar next to work.

Turns out, they do?

Once you defeat the giant bird of death and things, you go back into it's throat to take out it's heart a second time, because Kirby has no mercy. That heart? Turns into something. I swear to all things holy.

It turns into a Kirby.

This THING. ACCORDING TO THE LORE, IT IS INDEED ANOTHER KIRBY. BORN OF DARKNESS AND EVIL?? AND IT'S A GOD OF CHAOS??

IS KIRBY A GOD OF CHAOS??

This boss battle is fine in the normal game, it's very Basic-Kirby-Game-Esque. But the True Arena.

THE TRUE ARENA IS NOTORIOUS. I HATE IT. WE HATE IT.

The True Arena shows the real, canon if you would, version of bosses. Thus the name.

This second Kirby. Void Termina, now just called Void.

It has the best boss theme

It plays Green Greens.

Please please what are your thoughts on the final boss of the epilogue, I got spoiled on day one and have been waiting for you to see it in game before I asked because it's just so cool and your stuff is all so cool and I want to know your thoughts and potential lore

SO this is quite a lot! My method for handling new info is to take what works and leave what doesnt. Canon is a suggestion, not a rule.

About the Crown:

Mistellin was originally made to seal away Termina (the dark heart pf which was rampaging around the galaxy) and use its power to fight against it, but only a shard of It was captured. Seeing that the shard still held incredible power, the Ancients decided to use It's power for good instead of destruction.

Monarchs have worn the Crown, but several of the weak willed fell to Its influence and used it for their nefarious ends ("It strengthens the darkness in the wearer's heart..." so its Power at a price. The reason why the Crown's claws constrict corrupted souls like Magolor Soul is for damage control). Why the Halcandrans continued to use this Crown I can only assume to be survivorship bias/majority chosen did not fall...until the last king of Yore, who was possessed by Termina midfight in the war to seal It away. (The magitech civil war happened a little after this, as the loss of the monarch due to misunderstood Dark Matter magic research/practice raised tensions between magic practitioners and the tech faction.)

How the lore changes affect my telling:

Why the past monarch chose Mags as successor then (a story beat in my interp of things) -- well he didnt have much of a choice at first. The shards of the damn relic rooted itself on Mags' head. Literally. (Thanks Termina.) The dark entity did nothing but send waves of searing energy through the Crown shards to cripple him, to prevent him from stealing the Rejuvenating Crystal Fruit that It plans to use for Itself. (Dunno what this fruit is in canon, but judging from what the fragments of it do to Mags -- I assume its an Ancient artifact that holds an insane amount of energy. Gem apples exploding is a convertion of his high energy supposedly used to heal, to fuel a more destructive outcome. What can heal/restore can also destroy.)

*What Mags does in Epilogue is what I can simply say as "gathering painkillers". The magic energy he stores up allows him to block out/create a dam against Termina's crippling energy waves, and also allows him to do more powerful, complicated spells in the process. (No wonder one of his emotes is him crying.)

After Magolor Disrespects the Lorax by slicing a tree in two, the voice goes MUCH quieter. The tree (and the Doomer) held majority of the Crown shards -- by destroying them, Termina's way of communicating with him grows weaker. But not fully gone. (He cries in the end bc its sweet, sweet, relative silence...)

Did Mags learn his lesson? Not yet. If anything, his ego is the size of a galaxy now, bc he killed an eldritch god on his own. Without Kirby's help.

Im going to set Clash aside bc jfc that looks complicated as hell. The only thing Im taking here is the fact that he set up a Shoppe in Dreamland (no alternate realities here either -- itll complicate things)...but its not exactly a fresh new start just yet. Hes doing this to gather Nova parts easily. What better way to get parts and artifacts without raising too much suspicion than by trade? (His full redemption happens after Robobot, in the Nova Incident. Which is another thing I wrote)

Back to the previous monarch choosing him as a successor. Termina kept It's clutches on Mags. The Crown has rooted itself deep into his soul enough that hes still at risk for easy possession. SA rolls around, and Termina is supposedly at It's strongest.

Mags doesnt get possessed. Out of sheer spite and will alone he keeps the gate on the Crown's power and influence shut. Hes not going to fall, not again, not when he finally has something, and (several) someone(s), to care about. At the end, its him who deals the final blow on Termina in his mindscape, as he is yhe one who holds the last fragments of It's consciousness.

Free at last.

This is what makes the King of Yore choose him as an heir. He couldve decided to trap the dark entity in the Crown, like intended, and kept it fed so the Crown's power will never run out. But he chose not to...not wanting to suffer any longer nor make anyone else potentially suffer what he had.

He freed both himself and the Crown. Now the power that sleeps within is clean, with no Dark Matter almost guaranteeing a corruption.

* If anyone falls with this version of the Crown, it is not bc of any Dark Matter. Thats on the bearer's character/lack of control. Mags still losing it in Overlord form time and again shows that....

first of all this ask was so sweet out of the blue and made me smile a lot so thank you :) i appreciate it so much

i was gonna be all difficult and respond like "LOL are you sure" but yknow what screw it im bored and i've done that too often already so !! here ya go. everything i love about magolor

this is probably to be expected (especially bc of how often i draw him lmao), but first!! i LOVE his design. his design in particular just really stands out to me compared to the other characters ig; he has unique aspects to him that are so cutesy and charming yet contradicting and mysterious from how he looks alone. you have lil cat ears obviously but he still wears a hood and scarf so you cant see his face at all and glowing eyes??? damn. i also love his cape it's so flowy and cool AND ALSO i feel like the gear patterns are really fitting to him as well and go nicely with who he is. however, at first glance you might think his main purpose is to be a mechanic or engineer, and while that is true, he's also majorly known for being a skilled wizard, and his name is even based off the word magic. i feel like you wouldn't expect that from his design and that makes it all the more interesting... it's like there's underlying aspects that you get a suspicion about from just how he looks, which i feel is extremely fitting to his character. his design conveys that he's from another world so nicely too i feel,, you compare him to kirby and the others and he looks so different and otherworldly, almost. you can immediately tell that he's probably not from the same dimension or planet as everyone else. he has a ton of amazing concept designs but im glad they went with this one tbh it just. LOOKS the most like who magolor is and what he's supposed to represent imo. i love the others a lot too but !! in terms of his design his current one takes the cake for me

i adore how Absolutely layered of a character he is. there are so many bubbling details beneath him that have so much impact i just. God. him coming from another planet that's practically dead with very little to no life left and him not knowing what friendship is or how it's supposed to properly work, him betraying the others and falling deep into "obsession and hatred", him finding an exit, dealing with the massive pressure and apologizing to kirby, but him still getting up to funny mischief now and then !! you literally never know what you're gonna get with him (some of those might be personal interps but let's pretend they're not (whoopsie)). Just how he's developed and where he's now placed in the franchise,, he could be classified as comic relief yet he's still a main character if that makes sense?? i'm dying on the hill that magolor is a main character even though he didn't appear in forgotten land idc

i like to think he's similar to how bandee was but. also not ig lol idek -- like both of them debuted in one game and were expected to just?? not return??? but they did and became extremely significant characters who have made such a massive change. they could have chosen to cast magolor aside or whatever, say fuck it and kill him off, etc. but instead they didn't stop there and wanted to keep going with his character and give him a huge role. yeah you could argue it's bc of his popularity but i still think thats so cool tbh he just seems so unique compared to the rest of the cast in his own way and its. really interesting to see how he fits in the series in general !! him and his game are literally where kirby lore and more effective storytelling began imo and i think thats. So amazing they really tried to expand and develop the series through his character and it shows how important he is and how significant he places in terms of kirby as a whole

on a related note -- his personality is something unlike any other. they described him as "deceiving while telling the truth" and i think that's really important bc it's hard for you to tell when he's actually being genuine. and that's unique to most of the other characters and makes him feel out of place in a way and.. yeah mysterious !!! even when he apologized after he fucked up, his wording gave the impression like he just seemed to shrug it off like it wasn't a big deal despite the fact it obviously changed his life which also relates to the former thing and fhjkgfh Wow!! ofc dream collection could've taken place a bit after he actually apologized to kirby but y'know !!

also never get tired of the fact that man's ego is the size of the entire galaxy through hell and back . "look at me, i'm such a nice guy right?" I love how he actually Recognizes how important he is and acknowledges // acknowledged how he can use certain situations to his advantage and this may result in him coming off as stuck-up and thinking of himself more highly than everyone else but !! he doesn't care . Plus he's completely aware how strong he really is and just how he can use all of his abilities and skills to his advantage. Yet despite this, you may get a touch of underlying sadness, guilt, loneliness from him... all the more reason he's a layered character :)

extended from the last one but yeah i love how like. Insanely powerful he is and yeah you could say it's bc of the master crown or whatever (probably is lol) but Listen he has such a wide variety of magical attacks and i think it's so cool bc i feel like he doesn't depend on them Too much yet he still shows them off?? if that makes sense?? like he still uses them a lot for things in, say, dream collection for obstacles i don't even know where im going with this LMAO but yeah his abilities are just so !!! very cool like you take one look at him and you think he would be weak or wouldn't have any powers yet he could destroy you from like 40 miles away or something and he's one of the most broken characters in ksa, kf2, etc. mans can summon literal black holes, portals and giant swords that only kirby could previously wield like it's nothing now, if that doesn't make him one of the most powerful characters currently then idrk what does (i remember in a star allies article while describing his ultra sword they stated something along the lines of "did he secretly stash up power from the master crown? or did he steal this ability from kirby?" and while it's most likely the former in a realistic sense could you IMAGINE how insanely strong he would be if he could actually steal abilities from kirby, the most powerful character with the most powerful abilities. Just putting that out there)

said this briefly in the design paragraph already but i appreciate how many things about him can go two ways that usually contradict one another. Maybe i'm thinking too much into it but lol the most obvious one is, ofc, how he acted as a friend vs. deceived kirby but other things too like. How he combines steampunk elements and high-tech elements at the same time which are opposites. as i said he's also a magician which is !! also not something you may see with those two together i believe star allies and his name in general adds a TON of fuel to this bc it confirmed how his name literally means "false paradise" and "wonderful place" if you combine translations which also contradict each other i also like to think that "magic" in his name can also refer to the fact that he's also extremely skilled in certain areas such as yknow. Getting to handle others or outsmart them, seeing things from others' perspectives, or even being a very talented speaker altogether (a magician or wizard can also mean someone who extremely skilled at something. just a fun lil thing)

more minor things !!! but i really love how he uses slang + speaks in a dramatic way, and how that relates to his personality as explained above. no other kirby character says "dude", "beast", etc. which i feel can really emphasize how he's not from their world but it's?? very funny to think about fhdjkgh. I know other kirby characters use katakana in japanese but i believe magolor is the main // most popular example in this aspect(?? lmk if this is incorrect though, i just know galactic nova and star dream use it but im not sure about anyone else) i also like how he heavily emphasizes certain words and phrases !! it makes him seem overexaggerated and even more unique than other characters who may act in a more realistic in a way. All of them are unhinged but they're all unhinged in their own way which compliment each other well and i feel magolor adds a lot to this mix :)

speaking of which god i LOVE his voice. i feel it's so fitting despite the fact it's animal crossing language as it's widely called. like they stated in the miiverse post, i love how they made it seem authentic by making him clearly say "kirby", it does kind of make it seem like he has an accent even in english ig. It's so squeaky and cute and adorable like go off lil man!!!

i think i got a lot of everything lmao i'm sure there's a ton more i haven't mentioned or didn't think to mention but just know i love Everything about him he means so much to me like fucking hell i love this character if you couldn't tell. he's just so Good he has so many things about him yet i feel we haven't even scratched the surface of how much there is. i really think this rtdl novel will bring // brought a whole new light to who exactly he is and what he's worth and i'm always looking forward to seeing him around again :) really hope he'll continue to have a lasting impact on the franchise

How I Feel About This Character: HOW IS HE SO COOL OMG WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A COOLER META KNIGHT?! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?! (Sorry, Meta Knight. I am a simp for red/black color schemes and scars. He probably has an eye scar under the mask. Don’t ask me how that works. He just does.) ...You know when you know just enough about a character but not quite enough to answer all the questions, and what you do know spells out bad/sad things for the character? ...That's the ticket...

Any/All The People I Ship Romantically With This Character: I...ohhh, I am...You know, I dare not call it "romantic" by any means, but I will just say that if you link me to really good looking DMK/Meta art, I will probably be all over it? I know, I know! Problematic ship! Weird vibes! Violent history! It's purely an aesthetic thing though.

My Favorite Non-Romantic Relationships For This Character: Instead of seeing DMK with other Mirror peeps, I want to see him with as many fluffy Dream Land people as possible? Between the scar and the battle damage and the AGGRESSION there's so, so much you can read into DMK and I love seeing him struggle with his feelings of a world at peace/no Dark Mind/no corruption like his own world. Aka, see my "Salty French Bread" art. I'm going to draw more of them, by the way, because I am now totally in love with their peace/chaos/peace/chaos dynamic.

My Unpopular Opinion About This Character: I don't have one, I don't think (?) but I feel like there's some talk/tendency to blame him for Sectonia's corruption, because he was the one who came out of the mirror in TDX? I admit to not having looked into it fully, but I don't pin their tragedy on him, at least.

One Thing I Wish Would Happen/Had Happened With This Character: Give.us.then.name.of.his.sword! He can't just go around wielding a Galaxia-look alike that's not-Galaxia and you don't tell us anything about it!

Favorite Friendship For This Character: This is not a friendship but like, a kismesis, but anyway I didn't realize until I started drawing them that putting DMK and Magolor together would be so much fun. They're both these little anger-fueled orbs. And Meta Knight is clearly the most distrustful of Magolor amongst the four heroes, but he's too noble to act on it. A trait that DMK does.not.share! Fun!

is that he offs himself so he wont hurt magolor? he literally offs himself to protect the one he loves from his insane mind driven by a horrible need for romance and affection.

he's literally protrayed as being so desparate for someone to love him he'll kill just do so. which yes is just my protrayal of the yandere type. he just wants to be loved and went too far and got carried away.

now at the current point in the au he's happy with someone, he s a smug lil kingly boi and he has his roses and his fingers to munch on.

Summarize the entire Kirby dream-world plot I need to know what fandom i'm about to try and get into. ( - Fruit Anon )

I'm gonna assume that you're talking about Return to Dreamland and you don't wanna watch the video of all the cutscenes and dialogue I linked, so here I go!

I can also explain the Planet Robobot plot if you are interested, as well as Super Star Ultra. Im working on getting to Triple Deluxe.

Spoilers, obviously.

The game starts out with Kirby, King Dedede, and Bandana Dee all running through Dreamland. Meta Knight is up on a hill reading his book. But then everyone stops and looks up and a huge portal opens up in the sky, a spaceship (that looks like an actual ship) crashing through, parts of it falling off as it falls.

The four of them run over to the wreckage, and walk inside to find this little guy

He wakes up, and runs over to the control panel of his ship, the Lor Starcutter, to discover vital pieces are missing and the ship can't fly. He's sad about that.

But Kirby offers to help! And so do his friends! Magolor (that's his name) is thrilled about that, and sends them to collect the five missing pieces of his ship!

This is the actual gameplay part so you gotta go through each area to get to a boss at the end.

First are the oars, guarded by Whispy Woods

Second I THINK is the first wing, guarded by Mr. Dooter

Third is the second wing, guarded by Fatty Puffer

Fourth is the emblem, guarded by a gorilla thing I forget the name of. Sorry dude

And fifth is the sails which seems to be unguarded... Nope! A grand doomer (OH I FORGOT TO MENTION there are rips and holes in time where you gotta go into it to Another Dimension and then you can fight a sphere doomer) is guarding it and you have to have a fight with it.

Magolor has also promised that he can take Kirby and his friends to visit Halcandra! It's really far away, but with the Lor's abilities they can get there super quickly! So off they go!

Everything seems to be going fine, but then suddenly a four headed dragon sees the Lor and is like "nope. die." and shoots it down.

Fuckin dead.

But Magolor gets up and checks the screen again to see that the dragon Landia is preventing them from going any farther. The Lor can still fly, but not with Landia shooting it down!

Turns out Landia had been asleep for a long time but had recently awoken. Magolor asks Kirby to defeat the dragon, and of course Kirby says yes! The dragon also has a weird looking crown, but that's a surprise tool that will help us later.

So after defeating the metal general in the more mechanized part of Halcandra, Kirby and friends move onto the volcano! Which is the only level I've played myself. I helped my friend play it and it was difficult. Because I IMMEDIATELY GOT THROWN INTO THE (kinda) FINAL AREA!!

Anyway, at the top of the volcano is Landia! Time to fight!

Once the dragon is defeated, everyone cheers! They did it! But then...

Magolor slowly descends from the sky, clapping ominously. Then he says his little speech, which I have memorized.

"Bravo Kirby. You've truly earned your reputation as a hero. Your help defeating Landia was invaluable! Ah... at last, it's mine! The source of limitless power, the Master Crown! Obtaining this crown was my ultimate goal all along! (He picks up the crown, changing into a much bigger and more powerful form) What's with all the weird looks?"

"Fine, let me explain everything. I tried to fight Landia by myself and lost. So I fled to Planet Popstar. That's when the thought struck me. I could have you defeat Landia for me! A stroke of genius, I know. You even helped me repair my Starcutter! I really did appreciate that by the way. Anyway... MUAHAHAHA! The time as come for the entire planet- No, the entire universe to bow down before me! And for being such a big help in all of this, your planet gets to go first! Prepare to bow, Popstar! Welcome your new overlord!"

And then he disappears into a portal. This isn't good! But then Landia comes up behind Kirby, knowing that he got tricked. Landia is split into four and takes everyone through the portal to Another Dimension!

And thats where they fly through, and at the end is Magolor, summoning the Lor Starcutter for them to fight. Each item they helped retrieve is now being used against them!

(PLEASE IGNORE THE CAT ITS LEFTOVER FROM SOMETHING FUNNY MY FRIENDS AND I WERE DOING)

Once the Starcutter is defeated, Magolor gets pissed and tries to shoot them out of the sky. Meta Knight deflects the attacks, but cant deflect all of them and everyone falls.

Magolor boss fight time. They gotta fight him! It's a pretty cool fight with great music. He has a shield near the end and Kirby has to use super abilities to defeat him. Kirby hits him with that big ass sword multiple times and he basically explodes.

But wait. He isn't defeated. The crown is making him keep fighting. But not as Magolor anymore.

You see, the Master Crown's ultimate goal is to find a host. And use that host to create a physical manifestation of itself. And Magolor getting beat up and nearly killed like that just sped up the process. You see how it's wrapping around his entire body? Yeah, ironically for the guy who wanted control, he's the one under control now.

But Kirby still defeats it. The Master Crown shatters, leaving behind a mostly dead Magolor (he is still breathing though) who then disintegrates. He was sent to a dimension between time and space.

The part of Another Dimension Kirby is in stars collapsing, and Landia gets everyone out of there and they safely return to Dreamland! The end!

That took awhile to type, wow! But yeah, that's the basic plot of RTDL! Hope you enjoyed reading it!

… ...was it over? Everything was… still. No more voices. Complete silence. His thoughts were his own again. ...But he was still trapped. He tried to move, but everything hurt. He opened his eyes- the right side of his glasses had been shattered, and his vision was blurry, but he could make out 3 figures standing in front of him, blue, purple, and green. What… happened? Where was he? Who were these people? The last thing he remembered was… Being at the bottom of a dumpster, crying out for his friends, and everything after that was hazy. His vision began to clear up, and he slowly made out the details of the figure closest to him, the blue one. They were human… A lightner, and- Suddenly it struck him like lightning, and everything came rushing back- The machine, the disk, the body, the fight… And the human- Kris. Kris… Everything he put them through, trying to kill them and their friends, and trying to take their soul… He felt horrible, in and out. He was so weak… The fight had left him a wreck, and he was currently tied up and against a wall. Kris and his friends had cut his strings, granting him what he thought would be his freedom, but when the last string was cut, he fell to the ground hard, and after that, everything went dark, and now here he was, face to face with Kris. “...It looks like in the end, I could never be anything more than a simple puppet…” He said weakly. “But you three… you’re strong. With a power like that… maybe you can break your own strings.” He rasped. He wanted to make it up to Kris. To all of them. He was so weak, and he’d die within moments tied up here in the darkness, where nobody would remember him. He knew how he would make it up- Finally making something useful of himself. “Let me become your stre-” But before he could finish, Kris suddenly came close to him. “Kris?... What…” He said, as the human took out their sword. For a moment, he thought they were mad at him, rightfully so, and they were going to kill him right here and now. He froze up and shut his eyes tight instinctively, bracing himself… But nothing happened. He opened his eyes to see that Kris had actually begun cutting away at his bindings with their sword. Were they… Helping him? After everything he did? Why? Their friends were just as perplexed as he was. “Kris? The hell are you doing?! He just tried to kill us!” The purple monster protested- Susie, he remembered. The fluffy white creature in the green robes also had a similar reaction, though less angry-sounding. “Kris, that’s very kind of you, but… Are you sure?” He asked. Ralsei- That was his name. “Kris, listen to.... To your friends…” He said in a hushed voice. Despite their disagreement, Kris continued to work at his restraints. “Kris, why?” He asked. “I.. please, just let me be useful to you- I really don’t deserve this…” He sputtered. Kris gave him an unreadable, yet almost sad look, but then continued slicing away. One by one, his wires were sliced away, then picked up by Kris and gently put on his feet. He immediately staggered, and Kris caught him before he fell. He could finally get a good look at himself, and his injuries. His legs were badly damaged, and he was ripped up in other places too. He was getting weaker by the second, his body trembling. Kris turned to Ralsei, and motioned for him to heal the torn up pitiful creature. He seemed to hesitate for a moment, but obliged. didn’t know what it was… But something took over his body, forcing words out of his mouth that he didn’t know, making him do things he didn’t want to do, and making him hurt people… A sickening thought entered his mind. What if it wasn’t just the three? What if there were more people he hurt, but didn’t remember? How many lives could he have ruined? He felt sick. That thing… It ate through his head. It tore his mind to shreds, and left him as an empty husk. It left him with less than what he had when he was evicted from the mansion. It took him. It took his freedom. In the end… maybe he was just doomed from the start. He began to shake. He didn’t ask for this! He didn’t ask for any of this! Why? Why him? What did he ever do to deserve this? Why not anyone else in the world? He felt liquid running down his face, and it took him a moment to realize it was his tears. He was crying, just as he was the day everyone left him. The day Mike left him. Somehow, he managed to lose more than he already lost. He was torn from his thoughts when he was suddenly picked up by Kris, then hugged tightly- Though they were mindful of his injuries. The sudden gesture startled him. No one had ever held him before… Much less so desperately. Kris was gripping him like a long lost friend, or as if their life depended on it. His shock was only there for a second, but then he returned the gesture, trying to hold him the same way with what little strength was in his weakened arms. When the moment ended, Kris pulled him away from them, opened their bag, then placing the small being inside. “...Kris? Aren’t I taking up too much space?” He asked. Kris shook their head. Well, there was nowhere else to put him, and they couldn’t just carry him everywhere. And he could carry like, 48 items… So maybe this was the only real choice they had. He swiveled his head to look at Kris’ friends. Susie looked very displeased about the situation, staring daggers at him when she caught him looking at her. Ralsei on the other hand didn’t seem mad- But definitely uneasy. He understood both of these reactions. He was also against being saved- And he understood that the other two would probably never trust him, or if they thought he was faking his clarity. But having one person was better than none.

IS IT WEIRD THAT I KINDA CRY AT REDEMPTION ARCS FOR VILLAINS OF GAMES I’VE NEVER EVEN PLAYED?

I really like Kirby as a character but I Really Dislike Platformers, so I’ve never actually played a single Kirby game. I think he’s just a very good character for people like me, lol! he’s so super simple and his games have such a sparse plot with most of the appeal simply being Look At These Heartwarming Things. (With occasional Look At This One Scary Boss Being Stabbed Into Fifty Pieces To Affirm That The Heartwarming Things Are Badass) And like.. a lot of his games are even completely dialogueless aside from a narrator summing up the backstory at the beginning. Lol, most of the villains seem so evil and otherworldly just because ‘holy shit did that guy just say three whole sentences’ XD So yeah, I feel like its easy for me to be a casual distant observer fan compared to other games.

SO ANYWAY WHERE WAS I My point is that today I was doing the ‘ol super late lurker fan stuff for another Kirby game I never played when it first came out. And like... I SUDDENLY LOVE MAGOLOR??? Dude I only just met three seconds ago: you are instantly the most interesting villain in the Kirby universe Like seriously, he’s like.. what...aaa?? When has there ever else been a villain that actually got a redemption arc??

In retrospect Kirby is kinda extremely pessimistic about its villains. They’re almost always Absolute Evil, unless theyre actually a good guy being mind controlled by an Absolute Evil. And they always turn into absolute nightmare monsters and get very definitively killed after their boss fight. There’s a reason they’re always seen as memorably dark!

Tho still I do feel a bit sad that no-one’s been QUITE as dark as that one called Zero, i think? the one where its a giant eyeball with an eyeball and then the second eyeball pops out and attacks you when its killed, and there’s a lot of like... ‘is that actual blood or just some red energy beam?’ Cos seriously man seriously that was messed up. I LOVED IT Oh and the other memorably Real Good one was Marx, I still fuckin love how that was the only time these plots got deep enough to have an Actual Plot Twist, and it was surprisingly REALLY FUCKIN GOOD! YOU BETRAYED ME. you took advantage of my kirby goodness. seriously, I dunno if I’m just dumb and everyone else figured it out but HOO BOY I felt them real betrayals when the ‘cute helper creature’ turned into a fucking somehow more nightmare than bleeding eyeball man boss. Seriously??? why is Marx Soul more scary to me. Its like the uncanny valley principle but without any humans involved. Unkirby valley. Even regular marx was always a bit creepy cos of that, its kind of a subtle way to hint at the ultimate reveal lol! it was just oddly weird to see a creature that looks like kirby drawn in a more detailed art style. His face is just... what. Why the big ol eyes. This is not how kirby do. Why are you wearing one of his powerup costumes recoloured. Why is nobody aknowledging the weird resembelance. Why are you suddenly having complete facial melting horror and growing arms where there were no arms and somehow using them as wings and WAIT WHY DIDNT YOU HAVE ARMS IN THE FIRST PLACE also WHAT THE FUCK WAS UP WITH THOSE OFFMODEL KIRBY ENEMIES IN DREAMLAND 3! i think that was the one?? i only knew they existed cos of a random screenshot! apparantly they’re kinda uncommon to find or something, or maybe i just wasnt paying attention when i watched that lets play. But seriously theyre just kirby with his face drawn wrong OH GOD AND REMEMBER WHEN WADDLE DEE WAS JUST A GIANT EYE REMEMBER WHEN HIS FACE MELTED REMEMBER THAT CUTSCENE FUK U KIRBY 64 Kiddie bunni absolutely shit their pants in a mcdonalds and never played a kirby game ever again do u guys remember when mcdonalds used to have promotional nintendo 64s also those printer stations specifically for pokemon snap, those were THE SHIT i wonder why they never did that with any other console ever?

anyway I am HEARTWARMED to know that at least one of the Huge Nightmare Death Bosses actually didnt get blasted into oblivion, and got to come back in later games as an ally character trying to make up for his misdeeds by running lil shops and stuff and the best part is that he’s THAT THING I ALWAYS WANT FROM REDEEMED VILLAINS!! the thing where they don’t lose their personality flaws and stuff just cos they’re good now he’s still egotistical and sassy and greedy even while being a good ‘Its sunday, or as I like to call it, Magolor Day...’ ‘be grateful for my magnanimous help! truly I am a beacon of heroism!’ ‘hahahaha, now youve collected all the platinum medals I can take over the world again! -wait.. kirby, wait, I’m sorry it was just a joke, stop crying...’ I’M LOVE HIM u keep doing u, magolor also your new good guy costume is really cute, that is a quality lil green hat PLEASE REMAIN GOOD FOREVER

Yes, the two did try to take over Popstar/the galaxy before. The difference being that they failed at the first planet of their planned conquest. They never took over. (And in this interp; they never tried again.)

Susie? In my interp, and also implied in canon, she and Maxx were able to take over MULTIPLE planets and colonized them. And shes STILL implied to be doing this. They are successful conquerors. And idk if youve actually read much on Legacy, but Halcandra was one of their “failed” colonies. Legacy is about a victim fighting back against an oppressor.

Mags has his own sins. But hes growing and becoming better. Susie? Shes just getting worse. I went this direction bc of the SA descriptions (BOTH the eng and jp ones). Really hard to think about redeeming a colonizer “on-screen”, if you ask me. If shes having a redemption arc after Legacy, its not going to be really featured bc I will admit that its hard to think about redeeming someone who’s done that much harm across the galaxy. (Im also aware that conquered planets “returned to normal” after Robobot but like…how much was restored? I highly doubt the lives destroyed were returned.)
