Completed Draxum's Nightmare Comic!

I had a fun time creating this miniseries comic, answering interesting asks about writing Draxum's character and angst ideas, and just seeing people fall to their knees over the angst I fed them.

Leo would be an absolute nightmare in card games. Boy loves magic, messing with people, and winning games no matter how many enemies he makes in the process. God forbid he ever touch a monopoly board, the Hamatos would tear each other apart lol

My older brother loves card and board games a lot, and I thought with Leo’s bits of canon characterization he would like them too! My brother and I play Spirit Island and Gloomhaven whenever we can, and it’s super fun to raise the difficulty to insane levels and still manage to beat the odds with insanely lucky card plays right when it’s down to the wire. I bet Splinter played games with them as a good way for the turtles to learn teamwork and strategy!

Rip my Halloween candy though. I was never the best at games…

I think a lot about Leo’s tendency to push his way into the spotlight despite clearly being a natural in the shadows. Hell, you could argue that his worst moments are when he’s forcing himself onstage, and his best are when he does things no one notices until it’s already been done.

Raph’s the biggest Hero of the bunch of them let’s be perfectly real here. Raph is THE Hero #All the boys are smart in their own rights but Donnie is THE Genius.#and they all have mystic powers but Mikey is THE Mystic Warrior with immense untapped potential #likewise Leo I feel is THE Ninja #but yeah I love how much Leo goes for the spotlight anyway for better or for worse #he IS a performer again make no mistake! but again the way he does it still lines up with his natural ninja aptitude and I love it #Leo loving magic tricks and magicians so much works doubly well here because like #you’d think he’s focused solely on the performance flair - no it’s ALSO and ESPECIALLY the DECEPTION

I like to think good future Mikey has scars based off the magical looking cracks on his arms when he opened a portal to the prison dimension. I dont think he’d be embarrassed by them, to Mikey I can see pride because he saved his big brother 🥹

Rise Ramblings #351

One of my favorite things about Rise is the utilization of nicknames in the show. This is the first iteration of the TMNT that really dived deep into nicknaming the boys. ❤️🧡💙💜

Also, the fandom has come up with quite a few great names of their own!

It's been months. Months since Mikey had told him. Months since he fell into constant research, trying to find anything- anything at all- that could help. That could stop what Mikey had said was inevitable. Even if he doesn't use his magic at all, he's too far gone. He's going to die...

Ghost rubs his forehead, frustrated and tired. He sighs. He feels someone behind him, and he knows who it is. Mikey watches him quietly, a look on his face that Ghost does not want to see. The same look of acceptance that he's had for a while now.

Mikey steps closer, and raises a hand to gently hold Ghost's. "Meditate with me..."

It's been months since he last asked that of him. This time, it wasn't a cheeky suggestion or whiny command. But a question. and a plea. A plea for Ghost to take this chance to be with him for what very well could be the last time. 'Any day now, maybe' Mikey had said, all those months ago. Ghost doesn't want to accept such a thing. Not as easily as Mikey had...

But, closing his eyes, he nods. He holds Mikey's hand. He catches the small smile on Mikey's face when he finally stands. And, honestly, that alone makes this worth it.

I just started recently doodling this between working on redline episode 2. not sure what to name it yet, but I'm open to suggestions.

my only ideas for this so far:

they live somewhere in the Appalachian mountains so they are hillbillies

they have a farm

splinter used to be a country music singer and he was mutated by draxum when he was on tour in New York.

they live near a small town and no one cares that they're green, i think I might give them jobs around town

donnie is the only turtle with a vehicle, a truck. the others bum rides off him.

They still have their mystic powers it's just altered a bit:

raph still has his giant projection which is a big help around the farm

mikey still has the mystic hands

leo can teleport he just doesnt have swords, he can use any object like a wand to open a portal

donnie can create tools like in the little comic up there he made his fishing rod

this is all concept rn ig

I still think about how Leo’s ideal day out for the fam’s venture into the Hidden City was basically just an effort to get some rest and relaxation because boy does he never get that ever.

Rindou Haitani

Rindou doesn't mind that you're calling him by his last name, except for Ran everyone had called him Haitani or the younger Haitani for as long as he can remember. though it would be nice for you to call him by his name, he doesn't want to force you.

He did inform you that you have the privilege to call him by his given name whenever you want and it had always been stuck in your mind. but finding the right timing to call him by his given name was harder than you thought until it just slips your mouth one day in a middle of an intimate moment between you and Rindou.

With his head buried between your nape and neck, showering your skin with kisses your lips barely parted and mumbled his name.

"Rindou…" it doesn't even register in your head at first what you mumbled until he completely freezes and slightly lifted his head to look into your face, wondering if his mind was playing tricks with him.

"what's the matter?" you asked with the same tone and softness in your voice, immediately erasing all his doubts about hearing his name.

"Say it again, I wasn't ready for the first time" he mumbled, you were confused at first, not until you saw the look of anticipation within his eyes. a warmth spreading within your chest as you can't help the corners of your lips from smiling.

"I love you, Rindou"

upon hearing his name leave your lips he lets out a shaky breath before dropping his head on your shoulder, the tips of his ears are red as his heart beats strongly. how could a single word like his name sound so perfect in your voice. if you can make him feel like this with his name, he wonders how perfect would it be if you call him cute nicknames. but he'll worry about that later, for now, he wants to savor this moment as he made you let out his name throughout the night.

Takashi Mitsuya

"Sometimes Hakkai feels more like Mitsuya's lover than you" It was meant to be a joke by Draken but thinking deeper about it, it really seems like Hakkai was his lover.

They spend almost the whole day together, they see each other every night, Hakkai has Mitsuya as his wallpaper and Hakkai calls Mistuya not just by his given name but also by a nickname.

you knew they had known each other longer than you two but you were the significant other, you're supposed to be calling him cute nicknames like all the other couples. so you spend the whole night thinking of nicknames to call him. even proud of some of the nicknames you come up with.

but as soon as you're in front of Mitsuya, all the nicknames you come up with was forgotten as you only simply called him by his given name.

"Takashi" you called him confidently but your shoulders immediately drops in disappointment and pouted your lips, upon realizing that all the effort you put in the night before was wasted.

It took Mitsuya a few seconds to process what you said, never would he had imagine this was what you were going to say after coming up to him earlier and saying you had a very important thing to say.

"Finally" Mitsuya can't help but chuckle as he placed his hand on top of your head and ruffle your hair. he won't lie that it bothered him when you called him by his last name considering how long you two had been going out.

It wasn't magical as they say in books but the unknown tightness in his chest slowly loosened and was only filled with more love for you.

"But why do you look so disappointed? does saying my name that bad?" he teased upon noticing your pouting lips.

"Of course not, it's just that I came up with all these cute and sweet nicknames but I panic and ended up just saying your name"

if only Mitsuya can fall even harder for you. as if taking your worries with him, he gently took your hands in his. "Don't worry I have plenty of time to listen to all of them"

"But really, I thought I'll never hear you say it, It'll be confusing if we're both called Mitsuya in the future won't it?"

Haruchiyo Sanzu

Lately, Sanzu had been bugging you about calling him by his given name, stating that couples should be comfortable enough to call each other by their first names. a logical claim coming from him.

and when you did not call him by his name right away, he made it known that he was quite upset, making you feel guilty, maybe it is the right time.

"San- Haruchiyo…" you quietly let out as if testing the name for the first time when in truth, you had already practiced his name countless times but saying it in front of him feels different.

Sanzu definitely heard it but pretends he didn't hear you the first time. he stood in front of you, one hand placed on his waist as he looks down at you with a glint in his eyes, trying to look like the part where he was upset with you when in truth he can never be upset with you.

“Did you say something?” he asked, already smiling a bit upon hearing his name from you but refraining himself from showing.' just a little more he thought.

you bit your lip, cheeks burning red as you stood your ground and proudly spoke, "I said do you have plans later?…" but confidence left your voice as your voice wavers, "…Haruchiyo"

“Can you say that a little louder?”

"Haru-" he didn't even let you finish saying his name as he straight up pressed his lips on yours, even sucking your lower lips while his hands cupped your face. Sanzu doesn't think he can hear his name 3 times consecutively when you were looking all bashful and cute and red in front of him. all his plans to tease you a little bit more were thrown out the window as soon as his name left your lips again.

"Haruchiyo is kinda long to pronounce, I don't want to wait that long to kiss you. Haru is perfect"

Manjiro Sano

You stared at Mikey from a distance as he converse with Chifuyu, you were Deep in thought ever since Baji teased you about Mikey having selective hearing when it comes to you. the conversation ended with you teasing him back that he even knew what selective hearing is.

but Baji's statement and you quote that 'If Mikey is the middle of a serious fight and you so much let out a quiet grunt, Mikey will definitely hear you', had stayed in your mind and today you decided to try it out.

"Man.ji.ro." you mumbled playfully, not loud enough for him to hear but not so quiet that a human ear can't hear.

and to your surprise, Mikey immediately perks up, head snapping back at you as if he had just heard something unbelievable, staring at you meaningfully, blinking once and twice before smiling so brightly.

he quickly bid goodbye to Chifuyu and ran towards you and planted himself in front of you, he was smiling so brightly that he look as if he had grown dog ears.

"How did you hear that?" you asked in amazement as soon as he stood in front of you, as you peeked passed him to look at his previous spot.

"Did you think I will miss it when you finally said my name?" he giggled, and for a moment you thought you saw a tail wagging behind him.

Mikey thought nothing would some more perfect coming from you when you called him 'Mikey' as everyone else does. but the newfound excitement and joy he felt upon hearing you say his given name, can't compare to the joy he felt before.

"Say it again, properly this time" he demanded, and who were you to deny him that satisfaction when he look so happy and bright, waiting in anticipation for you to say his given name and not just the usual nickname the others call him.

"Manjiro" you chuckled and there it was again, that skip on his heart that he'll definitely be addicted to. though he prefers to be called by his nickname, it's not bad to be called by his given name every once in a while.

Sanzu does this by having notifications set on his phone that involve your likes because he's starting like almost everything that you do ♡Inui loves when you hug him from behind. it doesn't matter if he's cooking, talking to Koko, or doing anything really. he likes having you close to him and enjoys the feeling of you nuzzling into his back ♡Shin is a total simp for you. he has a picture of you on the back of his phone, a picture of you in his wallet, an album on his phone that's just photos of you, and even has one in his coat pocket. at this point it's like he walks around with a shrine of you ♡Mikey learned from his older brother, and when he's talking to his friends and all of a sudden, his eyes will light up and he’ll say “oh this reminds me of this thing y/n did the other day” which then begins his long ramble about you. even if the conversation has nothing to do with you, he will always find a way to bring you up ♡Mitsuya has a sketchbook that is only filled with wedding dresses/suits with the idea and mind that you will walk down the aisle wearing one of these ♡Izana likes it when you sing as he plays his guitar even if you're awful and have so many voice cracks. he finds it adorable ♡Chifuyu has a picture in his phone somewhere of you napping with Peke J on your chest ♡Sanzu has your coffee order memorized. whenever he goes out to get coffee, he always orders you a cup as well. it's become such a habit that he's accidentally bought you coffee when you already had one ♡the first time Ran saw you doing skincare he was mesmerized. so, he wanted to join you and dragged Rin into it (despite the younger’s protests). now it's become a habit to do skincare with the Haitani brothers ♡Mitsuya may be the caretaker in your relationship, but it’d just make his entire morning if you were to give him breakfast in bed ♡Chifuyu enjoys laying his head on your lap and hearing you read the light novel version of his favorite manga ♡Ran likes when you braid his hair for him. he secretly swings his braids around more harsh and crazier than usual when you do his hair just so that he can see you sigh and start to do his hair again and feel you brush it and stuff ♡Rindou loves cuddling but is too nervous to initiate so he’ll just sit and mope next to you on the couch until you realize. luckily you notice rather quickly because he won't stop fiddling with your sleeve ♡if you're cold Kakucho will IMMEDIATELY try to warm you up. this man is putting his scarf around you, trying to warm your hand by holding them in his, even giving up his whole coat and setting it on your shoulders, ect ♡as we all know Mitsuya takes care of Luna and Mana, and he just loves seeing you interact with his sisters. he likes seeing how comfortable they are with you and how they always ask, “when's the next time y/n-san comes over?”. It’s one of the things that made him realize he's in love with you ♡when you and Mikey cuddle, he’s lying on top of you and falls asleep to the sound of your heartbeat ♡if you and Hakkai are out doing something together and your mom calls you to check up on you, he gives you the perfect silence you need. but right before you hang up, he’ll quickly exclaim “tell her i said hi!” ♡whenever Kazutora wants to hug you or give physical affection he always asks for permission first. for example, “hey baby can i-and you don't have to say yes- can I hug you?” please let him hug you and kiss his forehead :((
