Sometimes I rewatch the Tuck Everlasting musical just to feel something. Everyone who enjoys musical theatre should be required to watch it at least once

Oh, what I would give to be a toad.
Specifically a toad in 1893, where a little girl pours some water on me and makes me immortal, and then I get adopted by this weird chaotic man-child who makes me his adventure buddy and takes me around the world.
What a life.

Winnie: but I still don’t understand!
Miles: *violently turns head to the right* ENOUGH! *violently turns head to the left* Alright. *calmly sits down next to Winnie*
Miles: Were not aging. We’re not growing. And none of us know why. *glares at Jesse*
Jesse: *mouths* the hell did I do?
Miles: once upon a time, we drank from your spring. And now we’ll never die
Jessie: *rolls eyes*

tbh tuck wverlasting has the most straight relationships that the fandom has utterly disregarded.
winnie and hugo? adorable i love my little children
mae and angus? *heavy breathing* i love them a totally normal amount and do not fantasize at night about being their child hahaha you’re crazy
look at us. we’re great at canon.

looking back is something to look forward to
mae and angus during my most beautiful day!
what I thought was a vv sweet touch in the production I saw was that the person playing mae was up in the corner of the stage close to the audience, and she was looking out at us like the was looking in a mirror, worried about how her body looked, but then the person playing angus came onto the stage and snuck up on her and looked at her with the most loving eyes. it was adorable.

jesse & winnie - age gap opinion
I'm known for having obsessive and extremely strict opinions about age gaps between partners in a romantic relationship, and as someone who is currently in a brainrot about Tuck Everlasting I need to share my thoughts on this topic <3
point 1: the romance is not as big as people say it is. At first listen to the soundtrack, it sounds like Jesse and Winnie both have equal feelings towards each other. It is clear they are best friends, but also like each other. The song Seventeen is the biggest example of this - it basically sounds like a proposal from Jesse. However, after seeing the stage version twice and reading the book, it's my opinion that the "romance" between them is nothing more than a adolescent crush on Winnie's part, and a desperate interest in anyone for Jesse. For Winnie (and this is proven in the book), she basically has a puppy crush on a funny, cute, older boy. This is not unusual. However, I don't believe Jesse has any romantic feelings for Winnie at all. Jesse has spent a hundred years with his parents and older brother. He is desperate for someone "closer" to his age (or maturity) to talk to. He finds Winnie, someone with a similar sense of adventure and humor, and latches on to her, especially because she likes him so much. In his mind, he has found the perfect friend. But he is fully aware of how young she is. There is a line during the song Seventeen that is not in the album recording - Winnie asks why she can't just drink the water right now, and Jesse says, clearly uncomfortable, something along the lines of "Oh no, you have to wait. You'll see, there's a difference." The line about them getting married is very throwaway. Jesse is imagining having his best friend by his side for forever; marriage is an obvious possibility, if he's going to be spending his life with a girl his age. He's not seriously considering marrying her at this point.
point 2: the age gap is not really as huge as you might think. People sometimes try to portray Jesse as someone older than 17. Obviously, he is, but maturity-wise, he is not. People seem to think that he's basically a full grown adult in a kid's body, but what they seem to miss is that his brain is frozen too. His brain has stopped developing at 17 years old. Sure, he has a hundred years of memories, but he does not have the mental maturity that an adult would have. This is not a super strong point, because he is still mentally 17 which is still way too old for Winnie, but it does eliminate the common argument that Jesse is basically an adult.
TLDR, Jesse isn't really in love with Winnie yet and just wants a lifelong partner because he's lonely. Winnie has a juvenile crush on Jesse. It's not creepy, it's very sweet.

For a while, I’ve been wondering why Winnie Foster didn’t have a daughter, since in The Wheel, the line “girl to wife to mother to daughter” is sung. Then I realized something. In The Story of Winnie Foster, Winnie is shown to have lived out the things that each of the Tucks wanted but couldn’t have. Jesse craved a partner who stuck with him through thick and thin. Miles wished he could have watched his son grow. Mae longed to dance with her husband all their lives like they did at their wedding. Angus hungered for the passage out of this world and into the next one.
And now I see why Miles said, “Looks like she lived the life we never could.”

love the cobcept of the tucks slowly looking less and less like humans as time passes. like they look like regular people at first glance but...
that mae lady is pale,, like really pale... and that miles guy? man looks like he's cried a canyon into his face. oh yeah and that angus character,, i swear you can see water flowing just under the skin. and dont even get me started on that jesse kid. he's all bent out kind of weird, like hes been broken and healed over a million times.

Tuck everlasting AU idea
The Tucks all have immortality in different ways
Mae - time loop ( kinda like Mrs peregrines home for peculiar children she repeats one day over and over again but is stuck in the house)
Angus - his body can be permanently damaged but his soul will live on (think like skeletons and zombies)
Miles- the same as the show
Jesse - reincarnation (he keeps his memories and stuff)
I'm still working on it but I thought it was a neat concept

Winnie: Miles, I made this friendship bracelet for you! Miles: You know I'm not really much of a jewellery person. Winnie: Oh it's alright then, you don't have to wear it- Miles: No I'm going to wear it forever back off.

Hello, I’ve come back from the dead for a short time in order to share some tuck AUs that don’t include the alternate ending of Winnie drinking the water. If anyone wants to workshop or talk about these feel free to message me or reply to this post
On the other side of the fence
Winnie doesn’t understand why they can’t leave the house it’s so boring, always staying inside the tall gate and keeping quiet she just can’t take it anymore so finally she builds up the courage to sneak out only to find that the year is now 1892 it’s been 91 years since she last stepped foot out of the house! It’s now Winnie’s job along with the help of her new best friend Jesse to figure out what secret Winnie’s parents are hiding. It won’t be easy not with enemies like Jesse’s fun-spoiling brother, Winnie’s suspicious mother, and a mysterious man in a yellow suit.
Could be written from either Winnie or Jesse’s perspective
Winnie doesn’t know she’s immortal until like halfway through the story
Winnie’s father is alive!!
Bonus: we get edgy teen miles and gremlin child Jesse
The medicine show
The story follows Jebedia Alowishes Thompson ( the man in the yellow suit) who has spent his entire life looking for a way to cheat death he believes he’s finally found one In a place known as Treegap New Hampshire He’s employed the help of Mrs. Betsy foster (who’s husband has recently past) to help him he believes the secret is on her land. Everything’s going fine with his research until suddenly a fair rolls into town containing “The forever family” a supposedly immortal family who are hellbent on getting in the way of Jebedia’s search for eternal life.
the man in the yellow suit said in the Atlanta show that his name was jebedia alowishes Thompson so that what I’m calling him
no one knows or thinks the tucks are actually immortal
Winnie still sneaks out and befriends Jesse she starts to sabotage TMTYS’s work from the inside after she learns the secret
Betsy grieving and lookin for a way to keep Winnie safe so she plans on making her drink the water eventually she comes to her senses and lets Winnie grow up
The Tuck work at different traveling fairs throughout the years but they don’t split up like in the show
Side romance plot between nana and evil banana?!
Tmitys isn’t super evil in this he wants to share the water ( no capitalizing on immortality here folks) and prevent death for everyone he just doesn’t see the repercussions
TMITYS also justifies his sometimes heinous actions with the idea that their for a good cause
Feel free to make content with any of these just be sure to credit me, please. 😊
