Established Lucas/Max but pre-relationship Lucas/Max/Mike where they're road tripping for some reason (on vacation? visiting colleges? monster hunting?) and trying to save money and the hotel messes up and instead of booking two queen-size beds they end up with one king. Both Mike and Lucas try to be honorable and sleep on the floor —

"I'm not sleeping in a bed with your girlfriend while you're on the floor!"

"You're not sleeping on the floor while I'm comfortable in bed!"

"Hey, dumbasses. I'm taking the bed. You guys can join me or you can cuddle on the floor." Max says, laughing and moving to get into the bed.

Mike and Lucas decide they can share the bed, like they used to at sleepovers all the time, but Lucas has to be in the middle, since Max is his girlfriend.

"Worried he's going to make a move on me in the night, Stalker?" Max asks playfully.

Mike and Lucas sputter indignantly, both blushing at the thought. (Max is very used to flustering Lucas by this point. She can tell.)

— and then your standard bed-sharing fanfic tropes occur – sleep cuddling! surprise boners! getting too warm in the night and accidentally shedding clothing! – and maybe they figure their shit out the next morning, when Max is wrapped around Lucas who's wrapped around Mike, but maybe not. Maybe Mike wakes up first, freaks out a little bit, tries to quietly and subtly get out of bed, fails at subtly getting out of bed, and loudly falls to the floor, waking both Lucas and Max.

Maybe they continue on their road trip and Mike is internally freaking out and trying to figure out if it's worth the long distance charges to call Will to try and get some advice on feeling all the things he's feeling. And at the next hotel (idk why they have infinite hotel money and yet Mike is worrying about the price of a phone call, who the fuck knows I’m not editing we’re just going with it) they get two queens like they're supposed to and Mike is definitely not disappointed and maybe if he tells himself that enough it will be true.
