One of my most treasured doujinshi is this Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon (美少女戦士セーラームーン) one by the circle, Pale Lilac. The woman behind Pale Lilac is Madoka Oomori who was an assistant to Naoko Takeuchi during the creation of the canon Sailor Moon manga which has made her own personal work more sought-after by fans.

I crack-ship Yuko from Happiness Charge PreCure with Kyoko from PMMM.

Kyoko Sakura and Yuko Oomori. Two magical girls, with a shared love for food. Aside from the food obsession and magical girl powers, they are opposites in every way.

Yuko is one of the kindest girls in her franchise, spares enemies and avoids real combat wherever she can, is always happy to give and share with others, tries to be friends with everybody and believes in the power of friendship, is positive and happy and has a great life, and cares about everyone including her enemies.

Kyoko is a borderline villain with all that entails, goes out of her way to deal extra damage and kill during fights and enjoys it, only does things for herself and never for others, outright fights against the other magical girls in her show, doesn’t believe in this love-and-justice bullshit anymore, is a depressed and cynical social darwinist who grew up in poverty and watched her father kill her whole family and then himself, and starts off not particularly caring for anyone.

Total opposites. But they work well, whether platonic or romantic or somewhere in between.

There’s the food, for one. Their common ground is an obsession for food. In different ways, sure (Yuko eats a lot, but she also cooks and gives away food at any chance, while Kyoko steals all her food and while she does let others have some, she’s literally always eating and doesn’t give away nearly as much) but it works. They would probably meet at an event with tons of food, where Yuko made a lot of stuff and she saw Kyoko helping herself. They would totally bond over food. Yuko tries a new recipe and Kyoko is the first one to test it out. They spend hours in the kitchen and pantry, for different and separate reasons initially, and wind up chatting for hours and hanging out, and it becomes less about food.

Yuko’s kindness has actually softened a villain before and aided in her reforming said villain. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume she could cause Kyoko to become somewhat less cynical and violent. Sayaka, another PMMM character, has canonically managed to make Kyoko end up allying herself with the good guys instead of “no one but herself” and abandon her social darwinism and start caring about things again, so it’s for sure possible for Kyoko to lighten up, seeing as, you know, she has. Yuko and Kyoko would probably argue a lot at first, because of their opposite personalities, but eventually Kyoko would give in somewhat.

Like... I can imagine Yuko acting double role as a friend or lover and as what amounts to a therapist. She hears out the villains about their problems, she does the same with Kyoko. It ends up working

Also, Yuko as Cure Honey has a magic song that subdues/pacifies enemies. Imagining Yuko singing to Kyoko in order to calm her, when she has trauma nightmares or when she’s rampaging in combat and coming dangerously close to crossing a moral line and/or committing something irreversable. It could be her magical music or just something with the right kind of lyrics and melody to calm someone down and/or make them sleep.

Kyoko ending up trying to replicate one of Yuko’s food recipes out of curiosity/boredom, not telling people but then Yuko finds out and they end up making food together and finishing half or more of it that same day

(imagine them fighting enemies together, kicking ass and winning easily, and looking at each other like they’re insane due to their polar opposite fighting styles)

15-sai to Seiko Oomori Posts Edgy MV for Summer 2021 TV Anime Battle Game in 5 Seconds ED Theme

"15-sai to Seiko Oomori" is a unit formed by singer-songwriter Seiko Oomori and a mysterious "15-year-old" to perform the ED theme "Makeibe Jikkyo Play" (Losing Event Live-commentary Play) for the summer 2021 TV anime Battle Game in 5 Seconds. Today on its CD release day in Japan, the song's full music video is posted on YouTube.

This music video was directed by the video production team PPP, consisting of illustrator Rojiko, animator Buki, and video editor NoraInu. The clip expresses the world view of the song in a "vicious" and "edgy" way. It also features special appearances by the six main characters from the anime - Akira Shiroyanagi, Yuri Amagake, Mion, Madoka Kirisaki, Ringo Tatara, and Rin Kashii.

The TV anime adaptation of Saizo Harawata (story) and Miyako Kashiwa (art)'s battle action manga Battle Game in 5 Seconds premiered in Japan on July 12, 2021, and has also simulcast on Crunchyroll to its members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

Synopsis:

A new kind of battle of abilities for a new generation is about to begin! It all started on a regular morning like any other. Akira Shiroyanagi is a high school kid who loves nothing more than konpeito candy and games. One day, he ends up in a fight due to a mysterious girl named Mion. Mion then tells the people she had gathered that they no longer officially exist in any records. They were given powers and were about to be test subjects. Akira makes up his mind to use his powers to climb up the ranks and then crush this organization.
