Are they doing the secret romance thing + Higgy figuring feels out just as it is revealed thing? :O *Spoiler-y?*

4.01 - Island Vibes - Fri Oct 01

As Magnum tries to keep his new relationship a secret and handles cases solo while Higgins is away, he is tasked with finding a single mom being hunted by two very dangerous gangs. Also, while Higgins is abroad with Ethan, a misstep forces her to assist an old employer, and Rick gets some bad, but also very, very good news.

Thoughts: Well, we’re going to establish trouble in paradise for Ethan and Higgy, Lia and Magnum, Susie is leaving but is she and Rick gonna do the long distance thing?

Higgy will be wearing all black leather at some point. We are excited.

(From the sneak peek I think I might like Lia. She seems cool and smart!)

4.02 - The Harder they Fall - Fri Oct 08

While Magnum and Higgins reunite and work the case of a construction worker's tragic death, TC and Shammy get skyjacked by a pair of drug runners posing as tourists.

Thoughts: So from this we kind of get the fact that 4.01 will probably not have too much of Higgins having returned? Right? This is their first ‘real case’ and not just joint take down, I’m assuming?

Lia is still a secret here I would guess? I hope we get some partners friction as they get used to working together again here but it ends with a fluffy feel good Miggy moment.

Is Shammy taking TC up on his becoming a pilot thing then? :-)

4.03 - Texas Wedge - Fri Oct 15

Magnum, Higgins and Rick go undercover at a ritzy country club when a young caddie is fired after being accused of stealing a member's golf clubs. Also, Jin's niece, unaware of her uncle's shady past, asks him to speak at her school.

Thoughts: Jin is back. That’s always a good time. We got the undercover episode...can’t wait for Higgy in her little golf outfit! And the hat! Undercover is always fun and I’m excited to see what they do with this one!

Maybe this episode will not feature very much Lia or Gordy? I guess we could have some sort of Lia secret here. I don’t know how long they can push her being secret from people if she’s in a lot of the episodes, but maybe I’m just not imaginative enough...

We know there is trouble with Ethan, I’m assuming that’s going to be brewing in 4.01-3 to the point in 4.04 where therapy is required.

I would really love for some sort of moment here where our two faves play happy married. Or if they want to torture us, having it be Rick and Juliet being undercover couple and Magnum being annoyed by it...

4.04 - Those We Leave Behind Friday -Oct. 22

Higgins’ therapist hires her to look into why one of her teenage patients died of suicide, on the CBS original series MAGNUM P.I..

Thoughts: SO WE’RE ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT FEELINGS HIGGY!?!?!? THIS IS NEW!

Shrink: So that’s Ethan done... now tell me about your partner? You guys have never dated or been more than friends?

Higgy: No but there was this one time when we were going to get married for a Green card. And this other time he traded himself for me when I was kidnapped. And he just generally is always there for me and we talk about everything and workout our problems together and he wants me to be happy.But really he’s such a good guy he’d do that for anyone. I mean we DO bicker all the time but we really love each other to death. But you know in a very platonic way...

Shrink: Yeah. Course... you don’t think there is anything more to it?

Higgy: No. I mean we do occasionally look soulfully into each others eyes, but don’t everyone do that with their best friend?

Shrink: No...But let’s move on, I actually need help with something. Well come back to you later...

Back when I first heard we were getting Lia, I though; one way they could make this season angsty was having Higgy figure her feels out and tell them to like Kumu and then WHAM, two seconds later we get a Lia/Magnum dating reveal. (Like a MacXRiley sort of deal...only do it right.)

But a shrink helping her figure it out (if even just a little...) that would make more sense. Because Juliet wouldn’t just talk to Kumu or anyone about feelings without a damned good reason. And therapy + Higgy = hilarious. Or depressing more like it, if it takes us down the route I’m worried about...

Because imagine what whammy to end things with in 4.04.

Juliet figuring herself out, breaking up with Ethan on the phone and then calling Magnum - only we see his abandoned phone ringing - while he’s getting it on with Lia.

(Or because TV is all about traumatizing characters, Higgins walking in on them...)

I mean, that’s the drama TV producers live for right? Plus right before we get a few weeks of hiatus (which we might get over Halloween + maybe a week in November?) would be the perfect time for it.

Then we’d be done with Ethan. We’d have Higgy feels out in the open (to us the viewers at least). The fact that A) Magnum is dating someone B) he lied about it to Higgy and everyone C) she’s actually Gordon’s partner... is just a treasure trove of drama waiting to be opened. Just saying...

But for now, let’s just enjoy the countdown for tonight and hope this (sure to be excellent) moment of Higgins in a leather jacket and Magnum looking extra fine (if somewhat confused!) is all I’ve imagined it to be...

I'm so done with the MacGyver writers. I'm really really tempted to find the Paramount studios address and write them an actual long form letter complaining about the writers they have for this show. How do you pull this b.s. out of your hides for so long after you dealt with the asshat that is Lenkov?

Didn't dealing with all he put you & the cast through... Shouldn't you want to continue producing a great tv show to show his sorry ass up? 😒🤦 And yet these morons writing all the MacDesi shit and attempting to force the MacxRiley bull seem unconcerned. They're ruining the main team's dynamic by putting Mac's Overwatch with him romantically. They're showing zero care for fans about what it says when she abuses him or when he gets no treatment for his ptsd. They've totaled the entire team dynamic because how can they work together now? How can they ever have that Found Family again, the one that was the basis of the entire show?

I'm legit pissed right now and I'm gonna go bury myself in whump and Write some MacDoc to make myself happy.

so my dear friend @psifitopia posted recently and brought up an interesting point about bringing more attention to the minority pairings within the fandom , now dont get me wrong thanks to @nevcolleil i love me a good macxjack , and lets be honest weather romantically or in a Platonic capacity mac and jack are the majority pairing, but every dog should have its day... so to include all the parings in the fandom thats exactly what im purposing , that each have a day attributed to them for fics, pics and the like, for example ...

Why I think MacRiley quarantined together:

Okay so hear me out!! I have an actual theory with some proof! Yes I am aware that Riley moved out but trust me and read on....

1. Riley said she was "all settled in" when Desi asked her how's the new place. Now this epsiode was shot pre covid and it is a little difficult to tell if this is a reshot scene or not but I'm going to assume it's not and that it fit in well enough the writers kept it. So now assuming that the pandemic happened a week or so after Codex and the fact that Riley had only started looking for a place during the third to last episode (4x12 and 4x13 take place over a day maybe 2) that wouldnt have left her with enough time to find a place and move out. Then like I said the 10 month pandemic, which from what we know is a pretty similar if not the same situation to us which means finding an apartment and moving out would have been really difficult.

2. Riley said her neighbour plays Macklemore 24/7. Now again this to me just further proves that she still isn't used to her place. Which means she's probably been there for a month maybe 2 give or take.

3. Mac and Desi definitely didnt quarantine together.(they would driven each other crazy due to the lack of missions) Because if they did they definitely would have talked about their relationship instead of being "forced" to talk about it in next weeks episode. The decision to keep the old episodes definitely means that the interactions are still relevant. From the last 2 episodes Mac and Desi dont seem to be dating anymore or are at least in some kind of limbo/ pause mode where they dont interact like a couple at all.

What I think happened is Desi decided she needed some time away and started staying at her place and then the pandemic hit. So she and Mac never ended up talking. She seems to have forgiven him but if its coming up in the next epsiode there is definitely some lingering anger.

4. This is more or less a continuation of the previous point. When Jess says " I think you lost your chance of ever dating that woman" there isnt any sadness in Macs face. It's not a "I need to win her back" or a "oh no what have I done " face. Its straight up a "lol you have no idea" expression. This leads me to believe that something has definitely changed. He would have corrected her saying we are still dating but I dont think even Mac knows where they stand in their relationship and he is okay with it.

5. MY FAVOURITE POINT! Mac and Riley seem different. The shared glances and raised eyebrows. Its like theres something new there. It's not just from Riley though and that's the thing. Every scene has been Mac looking over at Riley not the other way around as we would expect it to be since Riley is the one who has realised she is in love with Mac. These scenes definitely feel like the spent quite some time together. Since Riley probably gave Mac the same excuse she gave Bozer that she just wanted to give Mac and Desi the space they deserve, if Desi wasnt staying with Mac in the first place I could definitely see her staying because, well she wouldnt have had any options...

Maybe this is wishful thinking but I really do think these 2 spent at least a few months together and I am not kidding when I say WE NEED THOSE FLASHBACKS!! (I'm working on a fan fic for this rn)

I am expecting a lot of answers in fridays epsiode since it is a post covid one that will definitely include all the quarantine details!!

Quarantine + N95 + Landline + Telescope + Social Distance

A small MacRiley piece I came up with while on twitter but the idea was so pure I had to write it...hopefully I can do it justice. If you want to use it go right ahead!

FAIR WARNING: its a quite cheesy and I teared up a bit...Just had the inspiration to write this one today I guess...

Mac’s singing was just teased yesterday so I took inspiration for this piece from that. Hope you like it!

Riley was cleaning up her room. Well technically it wasn’t hers. It was one of the rooms in Mac’s house. She had to keep reminding herself that this situation was not permanent. That she couldn't get too attached. The pandemic would eventually end and she would have to move out, but right now she was quarantining with Mac and Bozer.

it was dangerous. Bozer knew her secret and she knew Boze. Riley knew he would never tell Mac, but that didnt mean he wouldn't try and set them up anyways.

She rolled her eyes and smiled thinking of Bozer’s previous attempts at leaving them alone in the past few months, always slinking off to bed early with the fake yawns while they were watching Star Wars or even when they were all camping in tents around Mac’s fire pit because they were just that bored. Riley had told him to cut it out but he just played innocent. As if she couldnt read her little brother.

She grabbed the Chinese take out boxes off her desk looked over at her much cleaner room. She still had her new rig’s parts splayed out all over the desk surrounded by a bunch of wires and 2 screens. It was her little quarantine project and she was making good progress building up a rig from scratch.

Riley opened her room and door and was just about to close it and step out when she thought she heard a ukulele. Mac’s door was just slightly open and the sound of the string instrument was definitely coming from there.

She could tell Mac was strumming the strings and testing the notes, the woody sound of the ukulele reaching her ears as she stood outside her room which was close enough to his for her to hear now that her door was open.

But then he started singing, his voice floating through the air, through his room and out the door into the hallway, where Riley was now standing. She silently walked towards his door, being careful not make any sound so she could hear him play just for a few seconds.

Riley was completely taken aback. Mac could play the ukulele? She had never in her life thought Angus MacGyver could sing let alone play an instrument. She knew he loved his 80′s pop songs and had heard his occasional humming and impromptu jamming sessions while they were going anywhere in his truck but this was something else. Something she couldnt even describe.

His voice was soft and mellow as if he was just testing it and it felt personal. Riley felt like she was intruding but she couldnt make herself move. His voice had completely captivated her, holding her feet in place.

Of course Mac could sing and play the ukulele. He could save the world with a Swiss army knife and some paperclips. He could risk his life for people he didnt even know. People who didnt even deserve it at times. He was so many things to Riley. Her best friend, a part of her small family and the boy she was in love with.

The thought hit her all of a sudden. The exact way it had after they had stopped the German bomb from going off. All of a sudden she was back there holding Mac’s hand.

The thought that would change everything, hitting her like lightning.

The thought she had never considered. Never let herself think about. She was in love with her best friend.

That it had always been Mac.

Her mind betrayed her and it flashed back to the moment they had hugged and held hands in the barely standing building in Germany and then to the time he had reached for her hand when the Reaper missile intended for Codex was about to kill them.

He had never brought it up again and so Riley hadn’t either. Though she knew exactly what it was. Mac had held her hand because he was scared. It didnt mean anything. She remembered his words, what he had told her and nobody else, that he was afraid of dying alone.

That’s all it was in that moment. His fear.

Mac’s tone shifted to something less gentle but brighter and he was now singing lyrics she could almost make out and she smiled to herself.

Was he singing about Dr. Fauci? Riley strained to hear and she realised it was probably something Mac had written himself.

The words rhymed and flowed like a stream, Mac’s voice the current driving the song.

A huge grin spread across her face. Even during such a bleak situation, he had found something that had unintentionally brought a smile to her face.

It hurt a little knowing that she would never truly be able to tell Mac how much he meant to her. How much he had changed her life when he had got her out of that prison.

He had been a wreck the last 10 months because of Codex and she really wished she could have done more to somehow help him through it. To some how tell him things would get better. That his grief would lessen and his broken heart would heal.

That was why she had gone after him when he went rogue. She trusted him maybe even more than she trusted herself. She didnt hesitate even a second when she got a chance to ditch everything and save him. She would take that risk all over again.

Riley forced herself to walk away before Mac could find out she had been listening in.

Bozer stood at the end of the hallway that led to Mac and Riley’s respective rooms, when he heard what he was sure was Mac singing. When he looked around the corner he saw Riley standing silently in the hallway lost in thought, listening to Mac play.

Bozer’s heart broke for both his best friends.

They were so close yet so far apart.

Riley had realised she had feelings for Mac. The last time he brought it up she was in denial. Bozer knew it hurt her every time he asked her how she was doing but he had to do it. He had to remind the one woman who had been there for Mac through thick and thin, that she had those feelings.

Bozer had to admit, even he had had his doubts when it came to Mac. Mac had been so broken and lost, that he wasn't sure if his best friend had finally shattered after his dad’s death.

But not Riley, never Riley. She risked everything when she went after him.

Her life. Her career. Her family. Her freedom.

He knew Mac had felt something for Riley years ago but had backed away because of Bozer, because Bozer was too blind to see that his genius best friend had a crush on Riley Davis, the newest addition to their team.

He wished he could go back and tell his old self that he and Riley would be great friends, close even.

But what Mac and Riley can have would be something for the history books. If only he had noticed those feelings in Mac sooner. He vowed to be more vigilant which is why he caught the looks between him and Desi.

Not like that had turned out well.

Eventhough Mac and Desi were still together-kinda- Bozer knew something had shifted between Mac and Riley. There was this undercurrent of something new, hiding just beneath the surface and it wasn't just from Riley.

Mac had faith in the universe so Bozer would too.

He silently asked the universe to get these two together, because no two people had ever been made more perfect for each other than Mac and Riley.

No other best friends he knew were this in sync with each other, had this much faith and trust in each other’s abilities and he knew that eventually no two people would ever love each other more than them

They just had to see it.

Why s5 *might* be the season MacRiley happens

Okay so...Hear me out! I'm not crazy I promise!!

Firstly, after 5x03 (and probably 5x04) it may seem very unlikely that MacRiley could ever happen. But I thought of a few reasons why they might actually happen by the end of s5 after all.... (it gets a lil long winded and kinda complicated but just stick with me till the end!)

1. All the MacRiley moments including the ones in 5x03.

[this Mac smile could not be an accident or something that slipped through both production and post-production right?! that in itself is a whole reason!]

Every Macriley moment we have ever had- whether it's the hugs, Riley saving Mac, Mac saving Riley, the ultimate show of loyalty when Riley went after Mac during Codex or even just the looks exchanged between the two- to any outsider it would seem pretty obvious that they are dating or at least in love. Keep in mind the writers would have written each of those scenes and Lucas and Tristan have acted them out with a specific build up in mind aka MacRiley.(think about the date episode: Riley just got dumped but was still thinking about how Mac might be hungry. She didnt have to do that. She could have just shown up at his place..) I mean how can they write two people so perfectly in sync and so perfect for each other and not have them end up together? It would just be a waste of all that tension and slow burn. (not to mention all the hugs and glances)

2. They know we exist.

The MacRiley fam is very active on twitter with the writers and while they were writing 5x01 they knew we were around. They know we are a huge group. They would not want to risk pissing 90% of the fandom off by not making MacRiley endgame.

[P.S.yes 5x03 was a bait and switch but if you were paying attention you would have noticed that neither Lucas not Tristan live tweeted or hyped up the episode. They knew we would probably hate it so they didnt publicise it too much! so in the future if you have doubts about the episode being a MacRiley one just check their stories or posts on twitter/intstagram]

3. Yes 5x03 happened.

I really think it was an episode they HAD to write. Ok so after 4x13 they had 7 more episodes planned and were filming 4x20 (aka the finale) when the pandemic struck. So they have these 6 episodes but no finale for it. [Idk if anyone else has noticed but in 5x01 there were clearly some parts cut out. For example the conversation between Desi and Riley towards the end seemed a bit jilted. Riley asking Desi to forgive her but Desi replied with yeah we are cool (still no apology ofc) I feel like something happened during that which ended up getting cut out so it could fit with the final story.]

This makes me think that they have rewritten a few bits to tie into the new finale episode. In 5x03 when Mac asked Desi to come fishing with him which was clearly something very personal to him she was like no do better.. then we see Mac's disappointed expression. She could have easily said okay but maybe not for our first date? Or its not really my thing? Or just about anything else rather than laughing in his face like that. Eventhough MD is together they still arent compatible. Mac’s final words in 5x03 was him being desperate. I truly think he is so broken and lost that Desi is the only safe thing left, the only thing he feels like he can fix right now. Once he finds himself again and heals...then it's going to hit him like a pile of bricks!!

4. But Riley doesn't have feelings anymore...WELL doesnt she?

When it comes to Mac, Riley is always in denial. We saw it in s4 when she tells Bozer not to make her say it. I think s5 will show her finally accepting it. Finally accepting that she is in love with her best friend and that it definitely isnt Codex adrenaline because she caught the feels when Codex wasnt even around. While Mac's arc would include realising he and Desi are never going to work and that he is unhappy and that RILEY is the one for him.

[why else would they give Riley feelings for Mac? Something has to come of it.]

5. The slow burn rule.[this point is a lil complicated]

Now season 5 is rumoured to have 13 episodes. So here’s what I think: If MacGyver follows the pattern that most shows do when it comes to slow burns, then technically MacRIley should have happened at the end of season 4. But since the season got cut short and they didnt get to air/finish their final episode the writers had to improvise.

From what I know, 4x19 which is 5x04 for us is the episode where Mac meets Desi’s parents and 4x20 was supposed to be the finale that was left unfinished.(they are definitely moving the timeline ahead if a pre finale episode is suddenly a mid season one.) There might have been a 4x21 or 4x22 but I haven't heard anything about those....EVER.

So what I think they have decided to do instead is extend the MD storyline a bit longer just so they dont end up scrapping all their s4 episodes where they would be together and write a new finale that ties everything together, aka MacRiley.

If you think about episode counts, s4 and s5 together would have 26 episodes which is a how long a normal season runs. Basically what im trying to say is if we follow the ‘slow burns end by s4’ and take season 5 as an extension of 4 then MacRiley should get together in the season 5 finale or maybe the episode just before. (IM REALLY TRYING TO GET SOME LOGIC INTO THIS)

This would be a typical TV thing too where the couple finds out about each other’s feelings while the main arc of the show is also at its peak, which perfectly sets up a future season where fans are hyped but still has a satisfying ending.

6. So what about MacDesi?

So far the macgyver writers have given us characters we love. Think of every character on the show apart from maybe Desi... Mac, Riley, Bozer, Jack, Matty, Leanna, Samantha, Russ and even Murdoc. WE LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. So then why is Desi such a strange character? I think shes purposely been written as an opposite to Mac or even Riley (I get she’s supposed to kinda replace Jack but Jack is really irreplaceable).

It's not necessarily a bad thing its just not a great thing to do or have great execution. People have said things like Desi is a badass and shouldnt have to apologise or say I love you back to her boyfriend because she is a strong woman...I'm sorry but your opinion of who a strong woman is, is EXTREMELY skewed. A strong woman is someone who can make mistakes and when she does, she is ‘strong’ enough to own up to it, she is loyal and fierce and also caring while being a badass who can take down bad guys. And for GODS SAKE, RILEY DAVIS IS A STRONG WOMAN...people have called her mushy and feminine on twitter and I'm just very confused by that.....

Anyways before I go off on a rant, it seems like Desi is intentionally being written this way. Every opportunity they get to redeem her and make her more relatable or just a better person they just dont take it. While Rileys character arc is one of the best I've ever seen. Either its intentional or they’ve forgotten how to write characters...which is worrisome but ill give them the benefit of the doubt.

The writers also know we dont like Desi. The amount of times we've tagged them in the toxic posts or pointed out problematic things we can be sure they've seen at least half of those. So theres no way they dont know. RIGHT?

So why then is MD still a thing you may ask??

Well for one they cant break them up again off screen because of those unreleased s4 episodes. (not to mention the other parts of the audience who arent as invested in mac’s love life would probably be very confused.)

Secondly Mac has to be the one to pull the plug, not Desi. 4x13 made it seem like Desi was the annoyed one not Mac. He apologised to her which meant he wanted to fix things.

Thirdly, they are opening the chpt one last time before they permanently close it. MD is going to be a stark contrast to macriley(it already is in every way possible). Every issue Mac and Desi had can be used to show how amazing macriley really is as two people who arent even dating yet.

Fourthly, MD being together is a sort of commentary on Macs mental health as well. We can see how happy he is with Riley but around Desi he becomes some one else. If the writers are doing this on purpose or subconsciously still remains to be seen.

And Yes keeping MD around for a few more episodes seems like a necessary risk right now but I have a feeling its going to be worth it later.

[I know we have had like 4 desi entered episodes already but I really think 5x04 will be the last of it since 5x05 is the Jack episode and 5x06 is Mac+Riley+Bozer episode with no mention of Desi at all!]

The writers know we are a dedicated bunch and they know that once MD breaks up for the last time the entire fandom will be waiting and watching. That's when the show will be at its peak. That will be the perfect moment to bring in MacRiley’s arc to a new start!

We have added an option of sending (however little) money to Michelle Lee who lives close to CBS HQ in LA! (The address is correct since we want to reach the execs at the highest levels.We even got through on Kelly Kahl’s personal office number so if anyone is worried about that its been clarified !)

Once you send her the money she will buy the paperclips and add them to a HUGE box and then send it to CBS with a note to #savemacgyver !

Are MacRiley dating? Or is something else going on here?

All the 5x03 theories!

Okay so I have a lot of questions about 5x03 just like every other MacRiley fan but I thought I should put it all down in one place with some theories and scenarios...

1. They are on an actual date. Ok so evidence for this is the food next to Riley, the 4 different picnic baskets, the writers tweeted saying “sipping wine and stargazing” AND you know THE ALMOST KISS..?!! I dont know what threat could possibly lead to Mac and Riley kissing, unless they are on a real date. [assuming the kiss even happens] I dont know what relevance the telescope and the eclipse could also have to a mission where they are following/ observing dangerous people. It just seems like the dreamiest date ever! Also just look at them, they aren't on high alert..they are just talking and enjoying each others company. *YEET!!* [this is really just wishful thinking but I dont even care since there is a slight chance it happens!!]

Might that “talk” (the one Mac and Desi are forced to have) stem from the events of the photos above and below, in which things between Mac and Riley sure appear to be going from astronomical to physical?

A snippet from the TV line article that released the exclusive pictures...even they seem to be hinting at something something going down...!!!! Heres the article.

2. They are on a mission. Ok so the biggest evidence for this is Desi, Bozer and Russ. They seem to be in the same location but it is very hard to tell. They could be in a completely unrelated place doing an unrelated thing (Desi does not look happy though so maybe its a mission and a fake date and Mac and Riley are enjoying a lil too much...which leads to Mac and Desi being forced to talk about their relationship??).

One of the images seems to show Riley with her laptop and maybe the telescope is a camera or spying device that Mac made. (its a reflector telescope which can also be used as a long range camera so maybe..?)

We know Russ is in the photos which means this either happens at the start of the episode *most likely* or is at the end or a flashback.

Also if this really is a mission, can we just take a second to talk about Matty putting these two together on a fake date..?? There is no way MATTY DOESNT KNOW ABOUT SOMETHING SOMETHING HAPPENING! She doesn't do anything by accident!

3. This is a flashback. This could be a secret MacRiley moment just before the Phoenix opened up post-pandemic where they finally go out on a date. [Safe to say a lot of MacRIley fans including me are straight up going to pass out If this is the case!] Now for this episode we know Mac and Desi are forced to talk about their issues. A flashback scene could make sense. Maybe Mac is thinking back to his first kiss with Riley or something when he finally tells Desi he and Riley are together (Mac and Desi are definitely over. These two dont have an ounce of chemistry left and they definitely didn't quarantine together because if they had they would have talked through their issues before. Its possible they broke up just before the pandemic but never talked through things or got closure??)

4. This is a simple MacRiley scene and the photos are just bait. I am going to be so mad if they dont almost KISS!! I am not asking for a proper kiss or make out session....just an almost kiss after months and months of waiting is enough but if these images are just a part of publicity stunt im going to lose it!! (and then continue to watch the show anyway)

However I think even this is highly unlikely because the almost kiss photos came from an outside source i.e.TV line. Yes they got them from CBS but this is the new show runners first episode. Tricking us just seems reallyyy unlikely and a bad way to start (false promises and all). Plus TV line’s credibility will also be at stake if the scenes in these photos doesn’t happen.(its an official exclusive so this definitely happens the question is what's the context!!!)

Im sorry if your even more confused than before you read this post, I honestly have no idea what to expect in 5x03. I am not keeping my hopes high but I really do think something new has happened between Mac and Riley which is why Mac isn’t sad about losing Desi (like when Jess said you lost your chances of ever dating that woman and Mac isn't all sad and mopey he just gives her a look that looks more like a lol you have no idea.)

Since the writers put in the pandemic in the storyline when they could have just continued right where they left off, it makes me think that there is a lot of relevance to this 10 month jump. Apart from leaving enough time for Mac and Desi to be completely done so that when Mac and Riley get together she isn’t a rebound or something, it might be to show Mac and Riley quarantining together (for a few months at least)

NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS, something has 100% changed!! Their glances and eyebrow movements aren't accidentally added in there! Also idk if anyone else noticed, but its been Mac who has been looking over at Riley not the other way around. We know Riley has feelings and we saw her looks from last season but Mac looking at Riley is new. There are practically no more romantic looks between Mac and Desi. (He told her you can do this and they high fived before that which just screamed FRIENDS not lovers... )
