I've realized that this afghan I'm making is going to be Big. Material costs alone will be A Lot, more than I've ever spent on a blanket before. Factor in the fact that this is a handmade, crochet blanket, and like...
If I were to purchase this online, it would be Hundreds of dollars. *Easily*. The kind of thing I'd never even consider buying, bc it'd be way beyond what I'd wanna spend on a blanket.
But it'll be mine. I just gotta make it.
It's incredibly ambitious for such a new crocheter. It's only my 2nd main project, & the very first thing I'm making from a design, And Yet I'm making something that would cost hundreds. Not only that, but with bulky black yarn (everyone always says how difficult dark yarn is to work with).
Ambitious. Hubris, even.
And Yet!
It's going very well, so far. I've got 4 of 40 rows done, not even to mention the edging rows (of which there are 3). It was challenging starting out, but I've since gotten the hang of it, and it's so EASY... The darkness of the yarn doesn't matter at all bc the holes are so clear! I'm crocheting into V stitches!!! It really won't take me That long, in the grand scheme of things.
And I'm just kinda laughing at myself. Bc it's just like me to do something like this. Considering my first fanfiction I posted on ao3 has ended up being 500k words, most of those written in the first year of writing...
Yeah. Of course I'd start a lofty endeavor with limited experience and only Guts and Gusto to get me through it.
And just like with discacc, I'm going to make this good >:]

While I'm happy for DK to have been given the opportunity of ambassadorship for a heritage brand such as BALLY, I've been wondering for a while now how long these connections will last.
On the one hand, the 'hallyu' wave caused major interest in Korea which made idols influencers with devoted fans that'll happily open their wallet. Their audience have buying power, so it's normal for brands to see that and invest in these idols, hoping that those fans will transfer to their brand.
Secondly, since 2020 big fashion houses have noticed their Western customers have become reluctant buying luxury. Such brands have always have an interest in the Middle East and China, but for the past three/four years they've gone all in on South Korea; essentially regarding them at the same level of China in terms of how the status of their brand is perceived and the country's buying power. Majority of the population are adults, so they have the disposable income to buy, for example, the new LV bag.
But when the hallyu wave inevitably dies down, I wonder how many of these connections will remain. Which idols actually have a good relationship with these brands and will have a lasting impact? I've spoken about it numerous times, but Vernon x KENZO is one of the smartest partnerships I've seen in a while.
It's a ready-to-wear mid-range brand that any adult with a proper disposable income can afford. A brand with a recognisable name, yet given a fresh look under the new creative direction of Nigo. A brand that currently pushes the idea of East meets West in their new collection, essentially mirroring Vernon's own identity. It's so smart, man.
BALLY and DK? I'm hesitant to say I see the connection. (Aside from the fact that BALLY has been moving East since 2020 and has seen success.) While it's a deeper cut than, say, Dior or Chanel, I wouldn't think of a Swiss leather-goods brand when I think about DK. Jil Sander, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Thom Browne - that makes more sense to me.
Again, maybe I'll see why in the future, but right now it seems like a mismatched choice. (Similar to the way I feel about the NJ girls repping the biggest brands of the moment. Their situation is even more egregious though; their audience is literally made up of tween girls. None of them are going to buy your lipstick for several years, Chanel!)
In conclusion: all eyes on the East. But like every trend, it will only be a matter of time before brands will migrate to another region of the world, probably leaving a whole slew of idols behind.

the most frustrating thing about the consumerism and waste culture debate online is that it may sound like you're all speaking about the same issue but surely enough it'll dawn on you that oh yeah, people from rich countries live an inherently different life than us and we'll never be on the same page here

im going to put u on zara perfumes bc the luxury perfume industry is a hoax:
- apple juice: clean apple fragance, very light and subtle, perfect for day wear to school and work, some say not durable but honestly it stays on my clothes for days. Its a dupe for chanel chance eau tendre (it smells expensive as fuck but its affordable)
- gourmand addict: flowers and citrics but its sweet, not invasive at all but it makes itself known, this lasts for a solid 5 or 6 hours on me, perfect for day wear but can double as night too if u want, its a dupe for jean paul gaultier's scandal
-red vanilla: pear and apple with vanilla undertones, its strong and durable through the day, its fresh and perfect for nightime although its not bad for a day use, i love this sm. Its a dupe for la vie est belle by lancome so a popular fragance for some time now
-i havent tried this yet but twilight mauve is supposed to be a dupe for be delicious by donna karan which i stole from my mother and has to be one of the best apple perfumes, its stronger than zara's apple juice and i like to use them together
-and i u want to smell like baby wipes buy chanel n5

which male idol in your opinion has the best style? if we exclude stylists’s outfits and group appearances. Also who do you think dresses up? Like maybe wearing clothes that are not them just bc it’s the trend. would love to read your opinion on that xx
oh dawn, 100%. he has some of the best understanding of fashion and specfically how to use silhouette and statement pieces. key obviously, also. all the guys in a.c.e are pretty well dressed but particularly sehyoon and donghun (whom i think dress the others actually lol)! both of them play around a lot with silhouette also, and sehyoon in particular loves accessories and will pull some insane combos that i am obsessed with:
(that's his mom's watch in the second one btw)
suho also has really great taste, his instagram now that he's come back is just a parade of nice clothes. tbh it can be kind of hard to tell when idols are dressing themselves and when it's a stylist, especially just from pictures, if you don't know what event it is/have the context of what they were doing at the time. and added onto that, a lot of the items in idols wardrobes are gifts, either from sponsorships or fans etc, so in terms of 'people that wear clothes that they wouldn't normally', well that's just most idols lmao. you do also run into the phenomenon of guys with good pieces in their wardrobes but don't seem to be all that versed in fashion (minho, junhee), and this comes down to a grey area where a lot of guys just do not know how to dress. that doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't interested in dressing well, it just means that it's not something that they have much experience in and they don't know how to go about asking. so often they end up with those good pieces bc a stylist puts it on them/gives them advice and they either take it home or find something similar to it, which puts them in a kind of a limbo spot in this particular ranking system; they would not have known about or gone out and bought that item if the stylist had not shown it to them, but it also doesn't mean that they're 'dressing up' bc it's something that they do like. you can see minho talk about this in his devil wears jungnam episode actually!
