i find it endlessly funny that people on twitter saw these early elemental test animations and went “THIS IS WHAT WE COULD’VE ENDED UP WITH???!@;&” like no actually believe it or not there was a time when the animators were still learning how characters made entirely from water and fire worked. It’s almost like it took lots of trial and error to end up with the visually stunning movie that we have today. crazy isn’t it

Ages of Elemental characters

This was supposed to be an answered ask by anon but I accidentally posted it unfinished and deleted it

In hindsight I could've handled the situation better, but I didn't know that you can't restore deleted posts, so sorry anon! (whoever you are!)

So, here we go!

I'll give an estimate and an age group for each character

Ember and Wade: Somewhere in their 20s, 20-25

Bernie (Ember's dad): Should've retired a few years before so maybe late 60s, 65-70

Cinder (Ember's mom): A bit younger than Bernie, 60-65

Brook (Wade's mom): A bit younger than Bernie and Cinder, 55-60

Harold (Wade's uncle): Same age as Brook, maybe a bit older, 55-65

Alan and Eddy (Wade's brother and sister-in-law): A bit older than Wade, 30-35

Lake (Wade's sibling): Younger than Wade, I'd say 17-20

Marco and Polo (Wade's nephews, Alan and Eddy's children): They're the youngest of the family, prob 7-10

Clod: 10-11 (confirmed by director)

Gale: Maybe in her early to mid 30s, 30-35

Fern: Prob late 30s, let's say 38-40

Wade’s death has a huge impact on Ember after the events of the film (mostly during the months before the final scene). She can’t let him out of her sight for too long or she’ll burst into tears thinking he’s gone for good. When they hug she has to keep her eyes open to make sure he’s still there. When she sees his water start to boil in a hot room she has a panic attack and rushes him out to cool off. She wakes up from nightmares bawling her eyes out, grieving the love of her life—who is still alive and well. Wade is very understanding and patient in every circumstance and does everything he can to assure her he’s right by her side.

Okay that said I'm gonna do a read more because this will be a very very long rambly post otherwise

So! This: Is Lumen. Let me give ya'll some art of him.

He is, at the time of writing this, an 11th level Wild Magic Sorcerer in the campaign I play in, which we call VTDM, short for "Ven's the DM." He hails from a small little town in our homebrew world of Annwn, and the town is named Dushill. A small town nobody with a big heart, care for the people he's around, and, as it stands now, very accidental hero.

I say accidental hero, because he ultimately was just. Nobody, before this. Before ending up in this campaign to fight against a Cult of Orcus. He was just a small town nobody, coming from being relatively poor, who still did his absolute best to help everyone. He set out on an adventure one day, with his one best friend, to try and make some extra money to help make ends meet. Needless to say, that went just about terribly, and he ended up being the only one to survive.

So where does that leave him now? Traumatized, for sure. Being a lone survivor sucks. But underneath that? He's got purpose. A cause, in fighting against the Cult that took everything from him. He's got a boyfriend in the campaign, too, Sigurd - an ex-cultist who he chose to place his full trust and support in. A lot happened since then, and that is a whole nother post aside from this one. This campaign has a lot of context and that's what happens when you're over 100 sessions deep. And like 3 years.

He also has friends and confidants - people he'd die for if he had to. He's loyal, he is devoted, and he cares. He fights by stunning anyone who gets too close to those he loves and cares about, and he does so ruthlessly, even using his powers of Wild Magic to twist fate. The power still scares him, but he's grown confident enough to wield it freely.

There's a lot more I could say but - I'll leave it to asks and whatnot if anyone's interested because oh my god there's a lot to his story and I cannot cover it all in one post (I wanna go back to playing BG3) so here ya go

Wade will never find a permanent job because he’s meant to be a housespouse, malewife, girldad.

He found something semi permanent when he was working for a daycare but it doesnt really hit him until they have a kid. And while they definitely have worries about raising a mixed element child and how theyll grow up. It’s Wade’s greatest joy in life and he asks Ember for another child in just a few months later.

Aww I agree! I can literally see him spending time with their (Steam? Lava? Magma? Idk) child!

I technically already have children but I've said before that they are alters based off a physical child I miscarried. I want to have actual, physical children some day. My partner considers herself their parent and I do as well. It's very sweet but it's not fulfilling.

That's really a dream of mine.

I used to not want kids lol but I never imagined myself falling in love and staying in love. Til it happened. And now I want every single part of it. Some day. Within the next decade.
