A little star trail I took out at Cana Island before I left for Alaska. One of my favorite places to shoot and for good reason. I will admit...it took me longer than it should have to get my Lume Panel to light this nice and evenly like this but it worked out pretty well in the end. :) 335 images. I'm working with the Mississippi Valley Conservancy to try and record and showcase the dark skies around the Wildcat Mountain region in Wisconsin. They are trying to be recognized as a national dark sky region. If successful it would be only the second one in Wisconsin. They have worked pretty extensively in the area to identify areas with light pollution then tried to address it by changing lights out or finding ways to make it better. From the sounds of it they still want to do a few more things but as you can see it's already incredibly dark. I stacked 6 consecutive images to create this image. Shot this awesome little star trail a few weekends ago at Big Sable Lighthouse. I only had to remove 1 plane trail which is actually pretty crazy. Then one barge. It's almost always far more then that. I left the few meteors or shooting stars that you can faintly see. Towards the top. ;) This is about 400 shots over a time period of about 3 hours. Talk about an incredible night of shooting. I went out to the Big Sable Lighthouse last night and all I can say is WOW. Such an incredible lighthouse to see....especially on your birthday.... :) Left yesterday about 10am, drove the 7 plus hours to get there, shot for about 8 hours then drove 7 hours back home. I have to say though...it was 100% worth it! Here's another single shot of the Hatteras Lighthouse. I had to make quick work of shooting here because the clouds were moving in fast. I only had about 20-30 minutes of time to shoot the milky way before the clouds moved in. This lighthouse is pretty awesome though. It's so worth the drive out there if you are ever in the outer banks North Carolina. The grounds are very nice for shooting too. This might actually turn into my new desktop picture. I used....
