In space, no one can hear you negotiating an elaborate roleplay with your husband and 10-20 of his clones.
One of the logical conclusions to Lister's husband cloning himself several dozen times in "Officer Rimmer" (S11E04)!
Man, the way Lister really seemed to enjoy himself in that episode - it really feeds the old married couple energy. I like to think that Arnold Rimmer is simply very creative at this point when it comes to keeping his husband sane and entertained in the vastness of space, even when it means he makes a fool of himself. And if that means a barbershop quartet and one or two life-threatening experiences here and there followed by increasingly creative sex, well... ol' AJR can handle it.

[ID: a digital illustration in sketchy cartoony style, in shades of orange blue and purple. A middle-aged Dave Lister from the TV show Red Dwarf is surrounded by various versions of Arnold Rimmer at different ages and with different costumes, including one who is crawling on the floor in fishnets with an innocent expression, and another in greyscale in an aviator jacket looking blithely lost in the foreground. Almost all of the Rimmers are staring at Lister or coming onto him, some with devious expressions and some with expressions of puppy love or curiosity. Lister is straddling the lap of a Rimmer and pointing angrily at the most prominent of all the Rimmers - a middle-aged Rimmer smiling fondly at the scene with a smug air to him.
The text of what Lister is shouting takes up the entire background of the frame and eventually becomes illegible behind the bodies of the characters. The text up to the point where it becomes illegible reads as follows:
"I MEAN IT, RIMMER! NO MORE MAKING COPIES OF YOURSELF WITH THE BIO-PRINTER. STARTING TOMORROW. IT IS COMPLETELY IRRESPONSIBLE, UNDERSTAND ME? NO MORE AFTER THIS WEEK, AND THAT IS FINAL! I'M SERIOUS, IT IS TOTALLY UNETHICAL, SO IN A MONTH OR TWO WE WILL BE DESTROYING THAT MACHINE. UNLESS WE NEED TO SAVE IT IN CASE OF EMERGENCY AND I MEAN ONLY IN CASE OF A PROPER REAL EMERGENCY OKAY--"
