Today one of my guineas, Twixxie, passed away due to old age. I wanted to distract myself and drew something instead. Lord Death is one of my main comfort characters still, so I drew him guiding her to the afterlife, inspired by the “Loving reaper“ comics.

LAWS OF EXISTENCE

There are two realities in our life.

Destruction

And

Creation.

To accept both as needed, as partners, as equals creates peace. Generates the ability to transform and grow over time. Allows the universe and life itself to expand, get better - shed the old, throw out what used to work but now is poison- and bring in the new, create something better- something that works well for many more living things.

To reject one or the other, to say one is better, or one is worse. To deny or resist the destruction of what has been or the creation of what could be creates pain. In us, in those around us. Resistance and rejection of these unwritten laws makes our lives and everyones life we come into contact with harder.

But oh how difficult it is to let go when we get so attached to what is, to the souls we love, to the ways we cope with life.

How we try to avoid the natural tragedies of life: heartache, loss, despair, grief...

But how we gain unnatural pain in its place: addiction, resentment, cruelty, self loathing...

Making peace with the way things actually are, with how existence operates, is crucial to our healing. How we've lost this wisdom over the years, how desperately we need it back.

May I learn how to make peace with the realities and tragedies of life. May we all learn how...
