I made this dude to relax bc i read the info on drows on the dnd wiki (i dont know shit abt dnd and im not joking) and thought ‘whoever made these guys is a pervert’ i respect that, but i closed my eyes at the stupider bits of the lore…

i just dont think their society is like. Livable HAHAAH also its stupid asf to have ‘inherently evil species’… apparently they’re steering away from that shit which is great.

He was a man from a non-noble house chosen by a matron of a high house and they were surprisingly happy together for drow standards. Malaggar comes from like a mining/trading settlement, but his ventures took him to Menzoberranzan and thats how he met her. She was smitten by his general honesto demeanor and cute "provincial" accent (okay big City bitch..!)

please note that drows are kind of insane in general but apparently its worse in highly populated noble ridden cities with the strictest social rules so like. To you this was just some guy but to that woman he was so different so quirky ajahjahah

They had a good run, but eventually another matron from another high house came and said ‘i want him’ and since drow women compete like wild animals she killed his OG wife.. demolished her really

He became her bitch AND was miserable. She was happy bc he was like a pretty young thing but soon started getting violent with the guy because he was grieving his first wife whom he actually liked. He was in a rough spot bc he was getting his ass beat on the daily fr.. However his new wife was also a high drow so. He was basically elevating his family just bc he was there taking the domestic abuse (read: normal spider-worshipping drow behaviour)

The new matron was very unkind in every possible way you can imagine, but she didn’t do anything to him that would scar his body, greatest asset and all that. One day he snapped and killed his matron by way of knife and ran away to the surface world. Then he started his life of crime. Went from a little abused noble boy to some cartel mercenary dude who kills ppl and has tattoos. I think they look both really dumb but also sick as fuck, and he probably got them as a way to rebel against his upbringing in a way. But he’s edgy so i bet he thinks he looks sick like no nations no borders no self awareness being embarrassing unites all peoples

he is traumatized by women and is deeply afraid of them! I want his story to develop around becoming more normal and overcoming his grief.. hes from a long lived species so its taking him a while. Also its harder to make real friends if all your coworkers are insane criminals

miss ellie i'm realizing now that i never told you now revolutionary your ocs are. like. i've been on this website for literal years and the day i found your blog was with an oc post where you introduced such a dynamic lineup with so much variety, it was the first i had ever seen. maybe i wasn't looking hard enough but you had poc yanderes AND trans yanderes it was the first time i had ever seen any (i know it sounds crazy to say but i'm being so fr rn.) even when i look through your old posts and reread them i just get blown away by how each one is different and has their own personality even though you have so many?? anyway it's late and i just wanted to say that ty <3

tbh, the representation i try to portray accurately is a really long-standing relationship i have with writing & authorship in general. this might not be a terribly interesting bit of lore but back when i was in my teens and consuming a lot of fanfic online in the early forms of it (ff.net my love </3) that was something that hit me a lot in reading self-insert fic, because I'd always been a huge reader and was just then tapping into self-inserts and community fiction posting rather than just books. and i remember distinctly (i think partly bc I've always grown up in multicultural neighborhoods/had mixed family growing up) reading fanfics and having the thought of "huh, i can relate to this description or this experience, but that makes me wonder whether other people can."

funny enough, it was partly when i would read descriptions of the author giving a self-insert long hair or referencing their hair in some way, and I'd start wondering how girls who wore a hijab would read that same piece, cause i went to school with a bunch of girls who wore it or a full niqab. and so i started wondering more like "if i was black, would i relate to this experience in this fic? if i was trans or gender non-conforming, are there characters i can relate to? if i were a mix of these things, could i find somewhere i belong in this setting?" and since then it kind of became a focus in the way i wrote stuff going forward.

i think using inclusive language in fic writing is really integral to a greater horizon of people enjoying it, and thinking on my ocs i always wanted to have characters that people could really relate to. I'd stop a lot in my process of creating my initial sets of characters and try to keep in mind those thoughts that i had in reading fics; "if i were this or that, could someone in that position relate to the stories I'm writing? and if not, what can i change to make that happen?" because if people are going to enjoy my characters or find comfort in them i want everyone possible to have the ability to. it's kind of intimidating at times to write for experiences i haven't had personally but it led me (and still leads me) to do a ton of research, and in doing so I've been able to learn lots of really fascinating things in the process. in doing so, it made it really easy for my characters to develop their personalities through my writing because i think they inherently have identities that are complex, which is always the goal you want for any character in the first place.

sorry that this kinda went off on a ramble LOL, but after so many years of writing and with my degree under my belt i still really think about it a lot. I'm really glad what i wanted to do has come across and i hope you continue to enjoy my ocs!! ❤️❤️

184. Various Authors - Dragon #69 (January 1983)

Welcome to 1983! A big year for AD&D which will see among other things the debut of the animated TV series and the Ravenloft module, we have some 72 entries on my list to get through this year of D&D products, so let's get to it! 

We start off with issue 69 (nice!) of Dragon magazine, with a great Clyde Caldwell cover and a bunch of really good articles inside, it's a great way to start the year. The magazine opens with a double article on Runestones, first with an historical overview and then with Ed Greenwood chiming in with a fantastical take on the runes, which if you are a Forgotten Realms fan you will know as Dethek, the Dwarvish script, a great article for FR fans. 

Gygax then introduced the concept of the Thief-Acrobat, which seems to be the first time that there is a development of a character subclass, something which is now very much an integral part of D&D. Gygax also brings us a further instalment in the Gods of Greyhawk series, and more fungoid monsters. Other articles are Lakofka's exploration of the NPC class Entertainer, and Moore's comparison of the various classes in AD&D. Last but definitely not least is Greenwood's article bringing us 4 more magical tomes from the Realms as related by Elminster to the author, in a long article full of lore and information about the FR.

full disclosure, i haven't touched skyward sword or first's story ever in my life aside from secondhand fanfic knowledge and tauberpa's abridged vids more than 8yrs ago,, 😁

anyways, i imagine first would be more than apprehensive when it comes to you rescuing him. out of survival instincts, he doesn't know how you managed to find him? how'd you break in? why were you here in the first place? were you someone else who had been imprisoned, or did you want him for your own purposes?

he's thankful, don't get him wrong, but a man questions all intentions once you've put poison in his food, even the hand that heals.

following his rescue (and the establishment that you were friend and not foe), first would likely be more open to you assisting him in his goddess-given duty. most certainly to the point that there are no secrets between you.

time would feel as though it went in the blink of an eye when it came to defeating demise— and, in a sense, it did. it could have been months, or weeks, or hours, or seconds, and he wouldn't know any better.

first wouldn't be ashamed to admit that he's romantically interested in you. he'd be normal about courting you after he grows out of the "crush formed via trauma-bond" phase and evolves into the "okay, yeah, i actually like-like you" phase.

but me, personally? i think he's really fucking stupid and doesn't know how to properly court someone. i think he's seen people court each other to many times to count in his home village, but he doesn't have fond memories of the village so it kind of murks and muddles everything to the point he's confident enough to say "yeah, that wouldn't work at all."

assuming this is first after his character development, i feel he wouldn't be ashamed to act like his old self if that makes sense? like, less of a seasoned veteran and more of just some guy on the side of the road you drive past.

pushing my "most links are illiterate" agenda to say that link courts you by asking you to read to him, sometimes teach him if he's confident enough. he says it's because he likes watching you become so invested in the story if it's good enough (and hearing your voice if you're able to speak).

uhhh,, this is where my bullshitting abt skyward sword lore comes in,,

anyways, i imagine first is able to travel between skyloft and the ground using the ancient equivalent of a skywing made specifically for him by hylia because 1.) triforce of courage, hylia's chosen hero, and protector of skyloft be damned, he is afraid of heights and 2.) he already built a house for you and him he's not moving it.

iirc after everyone and their mother moved up to skyloft, monsters started spawning more often and dangerously, so i dont think first would mind putting in more of an effort to protect you if they were to surround the house— but i also don't think that he'd be dumb enough to not make protective measures like a gate n whatnot.

I don’t think anyone understands just how much I want origin stories of everyone else in Mystreet like they all have really interesting backgrounds that are just tossed to the side of the main plot points (lol abt to be a really long threat again sorry)

Aaron- Didn’t actually get character lore OR a personality until S3 but like I want MORE because tbh I feel like his parents gave him a lot more trauma than what’s shown in the series, and even the stuff IN the actual seasons (the emotional neglect, his military schooling, the tense relationship w/Melissa etc;) are fixed and shoved off like no he might ACTUALLY need therapy bruh PLEASE

Katelyn- I think she was (?) in therapy in the beginning for her anger issues and the loss of her mother but like it was kind of forgotten about tbh. I think she needs more positive moments in the series honestly bc in the later seasons we’re shown she’s partially abusive towards Travis the first time they went out, and ends up being written off as prejudice towards werewolves bc of past experiences??? Naw the Katelyn I know would never do that. AND HER DREAMS OF WORKING IN THEATRE TOO HELLO??? Also, her mom quite literally used her in the Forever Potion experiments as a child?? I feel like that’s important to her character too :/

The Ro’meave Brothers- I don’t actually know where to start tbh because I feel like ALL THREE of them could use some kind of character depth aside from Dumb Blonde, Emo One, and the Forgotten One. Especially Vylad, probably having to witness this entire Lycan situation grow from an outsiders perspective with no contact from his family in forever. It’s shown that Zane is immensely interested in the family business too like hello??? Garroth himself is kind of just written off as a comedic effect most of the time, but he quite literally has no other goals (possibly because he KNOWS he’s going to inherit the business one day whether he cares to or not).

Laurance- He’s not really a character anymore, but from what we’ve actually SEEN in Mystreet he had enough development to become something outside of a potential love interest for Aphmau. He has a fondness for cooking and was seen to be EXCEPTIONAL at it, and I think he still carried an interest in baseball (or idk it was SOME sport asdfghjk the point is he was good). And he was also shown to still help out his family here and there (babysitting Caleb, his baby brother, in numerous episodes). Idk, I feel like there were so many pieces of Laurance that could’ve been explored and touched upon and we hardly got anything. Also… Garrance. Quite literally hate to be that person but it was literally the biggest piece of queerbaiting I’ve ever seen fr I wish it was explored as much as Aarmau was :( (willing to bet the popularity had something to do with what I call the ‘Heartstopper’ treatment but that’s just me tho)

Nana (KC)- The most under appreciated character in-universe I actually had to go and make a separate post about this LOLOL expect it in like five minutes from now bc I just save everything in my drafts.

Travis- Lol no surprise here but him too dude honestly I have no idea where to start with him atm, his entire family’s lore needs a full in depth analysis on themselves because Aphmau’s series just BARELY touches the surface of Travis’s character

Dante/Gene- Honestly BOTH of them were done so dirty I find it funny how no one ever talks abt it because they’re so beautiful to me. Gene already had his redemption arc so I can kind of see why they just tossed him aside but Dante literally had nothing tbh. He had a messy relationship with KC in PDH and then made that same mistake in LLP. Okay, cool, give us more of that. Let him learn from his mistakes and be self aware now. Or better yet let him grow without tossing love interests into the formula in order for it to happen!! Seems like his family life is pretty good though, worst thing abt him was the peanut allergy.

Lucinda- Queen actually has very little to no background that actually centers around her. We know she had a really bad relationship with Ivan but like I’m pretty sure that’s it.

The first character I first fell in love with: Ranpo he's so good! never thought i'd like a deus ex machina type but he's genuinely funny and not as overpowered as i expected The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Akutagawa LISTEN...when i first started the show i was like damn this sasuke point 2 and now I AM IN THE TRENCHES this is the love of my life my boo my sugarplum my bitter tea rewired my brain fr . the second one is Odasaku...no cause tell me why a character that's not even alive during the series lives rent free in my head THIS MAN... The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Kenji... don't get me wrong he's cool (and i absolutely love him in BEAST) but he needs more development honestly The character I love that everyone else hates: Fitzgerald my man. I feel that the fandom just kinda pegs him as a silly cartoon villain but he's the last good enemy (no offense to fyodor) and i desperately need him back in the scene The character I used to love but don’t any longer: I don't think i have anyone on this category The character I would totally smooch:  Odasaku, Poe and Gin The character I’d want to be like: Karl... i too want to be a racoon The character I’d slap: Dazai, multiple times until his soul leaves his body. And it's not even for what he did to Akutagawa but for what he does to Atsushi and the overall lore (tho him in BEAST is forgiven...partially) A pairing that I love: Besides the obvious SSKK. Hi! For those of you who don't know, I currently run a webcomic called Another Story, which is hosted on Webtoon Canvas.

I've been working on the story for around 4 years now, and the comic itself has been running for almost 2 now. It is my absolute pride and joy and I have put so much of myself into working on this project. You can find it here:

I am notoriously bad at self promoting, but I wanted to give a few reasons why I think you might enjoy it!!

I was inspired by various cartoon series that follow a serialized setup despite starting off more episodic. I've always been a big fan of shows that start off simply and plant the seed for some later lore that gradually builds over the course of a season. (Shows like Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, etc. really inspired me to use this style when I first started development)

It has a fun, unique artstyle! I am not trying to toot my own horn, but one thing that I like about my comic is the uniqueness of the character designs. The fact that every character is a part of a diverse alien species and there are no human or earth-based references is interesting and fun. (Considering this is a long term project, you can see how the style and designs have evolved a bit since the first few pages.) If you follow me already because you like my art, you can like my art over and over and over again if you decide to read Another Story.

So much lore and worldbuilding. One of my favorite things in media that I enjoy is some worldbuilding you can really sink your teeth into. It's the kind of thing that really makes me want to theorize and observe and analyze.... which is exactly what I've tried to do when building the world of the Araelian system.

Positive LGBTQ+ representation! I know that this is no longer rare in webcomic spaces, but I still thought I'd mention it as a point. I think it is nice to read a story every now and then where an LGBT character's main arc doesn't have to be about actively struggling with their identity, it is simply another thing that adds on to who they are as a character.

It is silly....until it is not. It has a lot of tone variation ranging from really conversational-style comedy writing to some edge-of-your-seat, earth-shattering intense drama later on. Best of both worlds and I am hoping to give each and every one of my readers some tonal whiplash when the proverbial ball drops.

It's got Umbot in it. Everyone seems to like that guy.

One thing that I have really struggled with on the comic however is growth. I have promoted it on my Insta quite a bit and it never seems to get any traction. It has been the slowest climb imaginable to 100 subs over the course of 2 years. With 4 completed episodes (comparable to cartoon episodes) and around 50 individual updates, this is not all that much. I really care so much about this project and would appreciate any sort of support at all, especially subscribing to the comic itself on Webtoon!

Nothing can stop me from making more Another Story, however. My loyal fanbase of roughly 10 people and my brain that cannot cease AS-related thoughts for more than 5 minutes will not allow me to do so. So read it, or don't! But if you do I'm sure you won't regret it! :D

You most likely get asked this frequently and have answered it a million times, but how long have you been drawing for? I'd imagine your art style took years to develop (and is most likely still in development!)

Secondary very much optional question (though they both are!), how long have you spent developing Anno and Aka as proper characters? They're very intriguing and feel as if a lot of thought was put into them! Are you still trying to figure them out some or do you have their personalities and traits down for the most part?

This is a fun one, I love answering art journey questions! (As long as they‘re not about art school).

I was always the art child, it was my only interest growing up. But I just drew crayon dragons and horses so you decide if that counts as “drawing experience”.

At age 14 I started taking art seriously. So I‘m at a total of 12 years of drawing now!

2019 was when I actively chose to learn and improve, before that my skill was very stagnant. So my art is very much still in development. It feels like I just got the hang of it fr🤡

In late 2019 I also came up with my bugs! They first had a slightly different, very short lore. Similar personalities, though. Then I dropped them in 2020 due to college work.

I picked them back up in 2021 and had a galaxy brain moment where I rewrote the lore and made it really detailed, with a beginning to end storyline and additional characters and such. I only finished that about 6 months ago.

The characters are totally fleshed out now. To the max. There‘s no scenario I didn‘t think of haha

it took me a bit to write for him even when i was 18, however, people started requesting him and from my statistics i think most of my readers read my riki content and are here for it. which i am thankful for nonetheless i’m happy people enjoy my writing.

when people are younger the cut off should be 1-2 years. that is just my personal opinion. when i was 15 i dated someone who was 17 and sometimes that does go well you just have to be very careful. for me: it didn’t go well at all but that’s my lore for a whole other day.

once someone is fully developed mentally at 25, then date whoever you want who’s older than you idc. HOWEVER, when it comes to younger people my personal opinion is 1-2 years and it should NOT hit a 3 year age gap at all.

if i’m also being completely honest with you guys, as i am, i was offended by that ask. i’ve said multiple times on this account, and it’s in my dni, i do not like people sexualizing riki. i don’t like when people are weird towards him and i’ve stated multiple times that after his birthday i’m going on hiatus so i can get away from that. i know for a fact some people on here are counting down the days whether they admit to it or not. i do not want to be around during that surge because it will stress me out and give me ptsd. i’ve had people waiting for me to turn 18 and it’s fucking gross. i wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

OK so first things first—i love him sm T_T seeing julie in danger really affected him and he went into the fucking tunnels for her ??? NO ONE is allowed to call this guy selfish anymore okay. now that being said

that's NOT tom!!!! and that's not abby!!!! and that wasn't khatri!!!!!! i hope the small "conversation" (boyd left him on read lmao) on the porch is the start of some jade and boyd plot thread for s3 because they need to talk about this. i wonder if more people will start seeing dead people in s3? i wonder if jade will see tobey...

anyway those visions are clearly trying to manipulate them. the khatri and tom ones alone could pass as neutral but the abby one this episode? hell no!! the vision was trying to convince boyd that the kind thing to do was to let them die 💀💀💀 i wonder if this is also what christopher saw?

and wtf was up with the angkhooey kids! the fuck were they doing in the tunnels! tabitha already saw one of them down there at the beginning of the season but it's really interesting that jade saw the same thing tabitha saw... that's definitely new! he also confirmed that his visions were showing him real things when he touched the ventriloquist doll... which we already knew, but what does that say about the soldiers? all the stuff about the stories... much to think about there 🤔

ok let me start by saying i think this is possibly the best direction they could've gone with the character development on the show. the GAPING HOLE that tabby's absence is going to leave???? for her children and most importantly for jim since he's lately been making an enemy of pretty much everyone else? she's the only one that's really gotten through both victor and jade too... her going missing is going to be so fucking palpable

i posted a theory that jade might be getting out of fromville in the finale right after watching ep9 because i figured that if someone had the resources to do anything from the outside it would be jade with his money and access to tech, but i guess my love for jade was just blinding me because this makes a lot more narrative sense

i've been seeing people speculate that tabitha is going to find eloise and i'm suscribing to that. she's got the lunchbox to prove she knew victor in case eloise lost her memory or something—but i have no idea how the two of them might be able to do anything. it's not gonna be easy

we can't even jump to the conclusion that eloise actually made it out. i think she did make it to the tower (victor's mom probably got her in the tree before the creatures got her) but the glass wasn't broken before the biw pushed tabby so i see no proof that anyone else walked the same steps all the way through before her

i can't stress this enough btw i need —need— jim and jade to become friends like jim's gonna have no choice but to lean on people outside of his family now and his recent antics got a lot of people pretty upset. jim and jade have a lot in common including caring for tabby so i can see them teaming up to look for her at the very least. jim's gonna have to accept victor now whether he likes it or not and thank god for mama liu because without her i think all three of these men would be fucked and i mean it. can they even cook i don't think so

i could talk about these dynamics literally forever (and i will) but now its time to move on to the next

REGGIE

ngl i kind of get him like no one was treating him like they would've treated a main character after such a devastating event i can kind of see why he snapped all things considered. he was right to blame boyd too but look at least boyd was trying, boyd taking on his gambles is what got them the talismans and what got a nightmare creature dead, he's one fucking man okay give him a break

i was TERRIFIED during the wedding scene it was so beautiful (the vows really got to me) but i kept expecting gunshots to interrupt it like i legit thought reggie was gonna somehow manage to kill everyone downstairs or a bunch of people at least. thank GOD he was dumb enough to go for boyd first that's like going straight for the boss in a videogame

also whats with the throat slicing in this show istg everyone here dies of a sliced throat lmaooo is it really that easy to kill someone or to get killed? unsettling. i'm gonna start wearing a neck brace everywhere. they should sell plate armor chokers i'd get one

So I do have original stories and characters along w my Twst stuff. And I think my OCs Valkyrie and Mercury are so fucking funny

Val was the first OC I ever made in my life and Mercury was the 2nd (her name used to be spelled mercerie cuz dyslexia) and I was 7 when I made them.

Somehow, 7 year old me decided he was going to deliberately give Val massive bazingas. Noticeably bigger honkers than anyone else. And she was also trad goth off the get to so 7 yr old me created a big tiddie goth gf

Then I decide “ok, super tall big tiddie goth girl, she’s me”

So I give Valkyrie my exact fucking personality. Then I gave Mercury what I believed to be the exact opposite of my personality

Fast foward all this time later: Mercury is just like me FR and Val could not be more different past how we dress. Neither of their base characters changed it was me that did (for ref Val is ENFP and Mercury is INTP which I am also INTP)

Also somewhere in development they became girlfriends

But moving on, this has now developed into one of my most thought out stories yet of all the ones I have. It’s an in depth lore that has elemental themes and fantasy magic powers and giant crows and four planets based on the elements and yeah it’s super fun! Also it started as mine craft fanfiction.

Yeah big tiddie goth girl is just a fucking humanized enderman. And her short green haired gf is a creeper. And the two other main characters are a blaze and guardian. They are fucking minecraft mob girls that I turned into seperate OCs and slapped an elemental theme onto.
