Was browsing some placekin tags from around 2017-18 and found some disturbingly ignorant posts from other otherkin.

As far as I'm aware, the state of the community from around that time was heavily gatekeeped and so many otherkin and nonhumans were discriminated against based on their kintype from their very own community.

In a few posts I've seen, fictionkin and placekin were seen as disingenuine trolls who deserved no place in the otherkin community. People couldn't "wrap their heads around it", so they pushed them out and discriminated against them, which is reminiscent of today's society's view of otherkin as a whole.

I can't say this was true for the whole community back then, as I have seen supportive people and wasn't around at that time, but some were like that. My heart goes out to all the placekin who were (and still are) told their identities couldn't possibly be real or valid by their very own community. You will always be safe valid with me <3

(Also, I found out that I am not the only african country placekin out there. Shoutout to the Kenya countrykin I found! 🇨🇫❤🇰🇪 /platonic)

Places don't get sick, so why am I so...sick?

I am a mass of earth, air, water, and fauna, but I am stuck in this puny human body that can catch a cold and feel miserable :(

I can deal with cracks in my soil and even being submerged in water, but why do I have to be susceptible to microorganisms? It's no fair :(

They're welcome in my soil (as all are), but they never used to hurt me. Before, I was a shelter and a home for all, but now I am attacking the very bodies within me.

Hi everyone, I'm finally getting around to a coining post for the placekin symbol!

I made this symbol around a year ago, but I never officially established it as a symbol for placekin. So, here I am doing it now!

Placekin Symbol

Each aspect of the symbol represents something different:

Outer circle with cross: Represents several things, such as the Sun-Cross, Quatered Cross, and the Glyph of Earth. Represents the power of the sun, the unity of elements, and is made of the Cross of Matter and the Circle of Spirit, representing the unity between earth, matter, and spirit.

Location Marker: Represents the identity as a place

Upside Down Triange w/ Horizontal Line: Represents Earth, elementally

Borromean Rings: Strength in Unity

It is up to the individual to decide if they would like to use this symbol to represent their placekin identity or not!

That would be me lol, good find!

I used reddit pretty consistently before I moved to tumblr and posted about it a lot on there.

Lets just say the r/otherkin subreddit was being gatekeeped by a certian individual, so I felt safe in other spaces, like on here!

It's funny to see how people are starting to come to me and recognize me, maybe even as a voice for placekin. It's very heartwarming :)

• What is a stimboard / moodboard / self-care board? How are they different from each other?

Stimboard: A grid of 9 images that contains a lot of GIFs. These usually contain special themes to help the viewer stim and have a mood boost!

Moodboard: A grid of 9 still images that usually contains something the viewer has an integral or emotional connection to.

Self-Care Board: For my purposes, this is a group of 4-9 images that provide comfort and/or advice for the viewer! It may include text, images, and GIFs.

• Does this cost any money?

Nope! It's free :)

• Can I reblog your boards?

Of course you can!

• What kinds of places will you make boards for?

Any! It doesn't matter if you're/it's fictional, spiritual, here in this world, or out of this world!

Even if you/it has a rough history or current/recent political situation, I will still make a board for you. Your existence and comfort is never taboo or controversial here.

However, do note that I will not include imagery of war, death, terrorism, genocide, or anything involving human injury in your board. I can include people, peaceful protests, and laws!

• Do you make boards of things other than places?

Currently, no. My boards are themed around places specifically.

However, you can include animals, objects, or whatever else you'd like in your board!

• I'm not placekin. Would you still be able to make me a board?

Of course! If you have a different identity, you're welcome to let me know what it is and what place(s) you would like on your board.

Even if you aren't alterhuman and just want a board of a certain place, I will still make it for you!

• I want to request a board. What kind of details should I include in my request?

Please make sure you specify what place you would like your board to showcase.

If you would like a board of a fictional place, please make sure to include the source it comes from, if you're able to.

If you created the place yourself, you are welcome to attach images of it in your ask!

Also, make sure to tell me exactly what you want on your board.

-Here are some things you may want to consider:

If you/the place has a flag and/or an outline, do you want pictures of them?

What about nature, wildlife, buildings, landmarks, and people?

If you/the place is a country, are there any specific cities, territories, regions, or notable features you would like? What about the capital(s)?

Are there any aesthetics you particularly like? What about items that could help you stim?

• I want a board made soley for a political message. Could I request one?

This is the only case where I will decline a request for a board.

I make boards to comfort people who identify as a place or have an integral connection to one, not for political messages or propaganda.

However, If you are placekin and you'd like some sort of appropriate political element in your board, please just ask me! I will probably say yes.

• Ok, I've read all of the details, but I have one last question. How exactly do I request a board?

Just send me in an Ask! If you aren't sure how to do that, here are the steps:

1. Scroll to the very top of my page.

2. Click on the purple button that says "Hop in the CAR!"
