Eugene: I’m impressed how much they managed to achieve without any help. Joslyn: Oscar’s very determined, and more than a little reckless. Norma: Clearly! Although, if you came to us; we could’ve done this properly.

Joslyn: I tried to pass it on; though it didn’t go unnoticed-.. working the Bay was as boring as it gets, I was glad to retire. Isaac: [scoffs] That’s a lie. Eugene: We want you to come and work with us again.

Norma: As we correctly assumed, Mr Finch and co. know much more than they’re letting on; I have more questions now than when we set out-.. we’re hoping they’ll help us fill the gaps, especially given what happened to his girlfriend. Joslyn: What happened to his girlfriend?

Eugene: Mr Flanagan told us she wound up in Del Sol after being kidnapped, Mr Finch spent over a month out there looking for her. Isaac: Jesus-… Joslyn: Why do you need me?

Norma: They’re not going to trust us, but based on what you’ve told us; they might trust you. Joslyn: I wouldn’t count on that. Isaac: C’mon, since when did you ever leave a case half finished?

Joslyn: [sighs] They’re good people-.. they’ve risked so much to get this far; I can’t take everything away from them now. Isaac: If they’re good folk, then they have nothing to be afraid of. Joslyn: We all know what people are capable of when they’re backed into a corner…

Eugene: This is bigger than them. Joslyn: Exactly, they deserve a little leeway. If I convince them to speak with you, I want you to promise you’ll do right by them. Norma: You have our word.

Isaac: That’s sorted then? Joslyn: I suppose. Isaac: I’ll let the inquisitors back in.

Eugene: We’re about to be interrogated, aren’t we? Joslyn: [laughs] By the very best. Norma: Aha, let’s see how it feels when the tables are turned.

001. what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are? rather than just link you to my other answer, i will provide more (non-trauamtic) defining facets of my life: 1) my parents being almost 40 by the time they had me (38 and 39 respectively); 2) not getting my drivers license until i was 23 (follow this experience through the tag #kat learns to drive); and 3) my school in germany only having a mixed gender soccer team when i moved there in 4th grade

#ask #alienmythologist #bc i didn't get my license until i was 23 #after college when i moved home i was v limited in the part time jobs i was looking at #which is how i ended up submitting so many applications to the university my parents lived within walking distance of #which is how i first got started working in international admissions #which is the career i am still in now 11 years later #so #also the soccer thing: #when i was in the states as a kid i was on the local girls soccer team every fall and spring #and being an active sports kid was v much a part of my identity #but when we moved to germany my school only had a mixed gender soccer team #and the little german boys took soccer WAY MORE SERIOUSLY than i did #and they were all much better players than me #so i was only the second girl on the team and the other one was another german girl who'd known them all for years and spoke fluid german #so i felt super self-conscious and intimidated by my teammates #and also that fall was when my grandmother was dying so my mom was back in the states and my dad was busy most weekends #so i missed a lot of games #and after that one fall season i stopped playing soccer for years and kind of turned away from sports in general #i still played jv basketball and softball but it wasn't the same #and sometimes i wonder who i would have been if i had been so intimidated by that team

#let me clarify i dont think she is i think we all know its Lottie #but i think it would be so interesting if it was shauna #because jackie as a character represents the epitome of our normal society #shes young and pretty and she loves her boyfriend and is captain of her highschool girls soccer team! shes gonna go to the local college! #shes everything a teen girl should be #but because of this shes fully unable to adapt to her situation in the wilderness. everyone else finds a way and does whats needed #and then Shauna whos been playing second fiddle to jackie her whole life is very quick to adapt to her situation #and then shes the one who indirectly kills jackie (not at all her fault) via jackies own stubbornness and is the first to consume her flesh #thus severing their final ties/reminders to the world they once lived in #so no i dont think shauna is actually antler queen but i think it would be a very interesting angle for the show to take #anyway im sleepy as fuck so idk if ANY of this made sense #yellowjackets

What if we banned large sports teams?

Obviously this would be draconian authoritarianism, besides the point.

I think it would be neat if there were city teams and just, no state teams, no country wide competition. Screw the globalism and competitiveness of figuring out who's best, world cups and whatnot. It's enough that someone is best in a small city or across a few cities.

It's neat that people can make a living off playing sports, we can surely keep that without having people be millionaires from it.

Just an idle thought. I hear lots about how globalism makes it too hard to be recognized in any sphere.
