i'm just going to go ahead and make this its own post. when kirk teases spock he is SO GENTLE. "why mister spock are you feeling emotion?" and he lets spock do the vulcan equivalent of giggling and kicking his feet and going "haha nooo silly i'm a VULCAN i don't do that!!" and kirk's like "oh my apologies mister spock of COURSE not" and then they make consensual loving eyecontact with one another while smiling. when BONES senses blood in the water (spock having an emotion) he will grab spock by the scruff of his fucking neck and shake until dead. like a dog with a squirrel.

Can we also just appreciate Charles' reaction to Edwin's I love you? Because he is so non-plussed other than the situation in which Edwin says it. "Great I love you too" as if it is obvious, because it is obvious to him. Of course they love each other. But so rarely does a male friendship get treated like that and do the men say it.

And then he is still not reacting fully shocked when Edwin corrects himself "no I am in love with you". Charles still reacts like it is normal and changes nothing. Just saying that he cannot really reciprocate at the moment but they'll have time to figure it out.

During this whole scene the only thing that is treated as abnormal or strange or worrisome is that Edwin chose to do it on the stairs leading out to hell with a dollheadspider hunting them. And even that is only loosely treated like it. Cause the showrunners know how important it is and don't interrupt the moment with the chase.
