the small child hid behind a large potted plant, jumping out spreading her wings as her ears laid back flat letting out the loudest screech she could manage.

“Augh!” Hugo jumped. He put a hand on his chest and took a breath. “Every damn time,” he said to himself.

He looked down at Angel and gave her a smile. “That was... really good!” he told her. “Ferocious!”

Runs up to hug and then proceeds to climb up on his body to latch on his chest. "Now I'm a accessory!"

It’s only natural that he aids Angel in her mission up his form, securing her in his arms once she’s latched onto his chest. There’s something undoubtedly endearing about the gesture, and even the frigid cockles of his heart are warmed by… well, anything his young daughter does. It’s no wonder she has that effect on people; honestly, he couldn’t ask for a better kid.

There’s somewhat of a genuine grin adorning his features. A smile reserved only for the tyke as he swings her around once, of course, maintaining his hold on the young girl. It wouldn’t be the first time he had gone to a public event with the child attached to his hip, but all the same, this was a side he reserved for her. He didn’t like people knowing of his daughter, didn’t like the danger that put her in, but sometimes, even he couldn’t tell her no.

     ❝ ―  Is this your way of trying to get me to bring you to work again? ❞ He tries to be stern, but he can’t help the amusement from seeping into his tone.

The Sheriff wasn’t one to like anyone near their neck. It made them uncomfortable for a number of reasons. But at least one of the reasons were pushed to the side when it came to Angel. Which was why they had moved to kneel down, allowing the girl to close the collar-like accessory they usually wore.

The hyena smiled slightly, pressing a kiss to the girl’s forehead, ears perked forwards as they pulled back.

“Thanks partner.”

jack used to dote over angel in the early years, getting her gifts and taking turns minding her with his wife. the both of them had seen her tattoos but didn’t think much of them at the time. that all changed when her siren powers started to manifest.

he had contemplated funding research to try and distill angel’s abilities so that he wouldn’t have to use her as a tool in his schemes. as his mental health started to decline however, such plans were abandoned in favour of immediate results.
