Thinking abt this new concept of villain au Iris and how she decided to try and become Champion, and like, she already has the gym badges yknow, before that fateful battle two years ago, she went through the gyms to prove herself capable of being a Gym Leader herself

And hey, she never got the chance to actually challenge the E4, so this was good opportunity. She wondered if that old man w wild red hair was still Champion, she forgot his name, but hey, she has to admit, he was a kind man and treated his Pokémon like family. She wishes him well. What was his name.. Al.. Alder! Yes, that's the one, the kind man who would often visit her and Drayden at Opelucid. He was nice, Iris liked him, he had a lot of stories about Drayden and himself when they were younger. It reminds her of the times she and her brother would play around w Pokémon too.

But, this is no time to reminisce of the past, it's time for her to challenge the League and become Unova's Champion. Whether or not Alder will be the one waiting for her, she doesn't care, she will win.

The E4 was no challenge for her. Surprisingly, they still recognize her. Shauntal hugged her, telling her that she missed her, all of them thought smth had happened to her, but she's glad she's okay. Caitlin woke up from her slumber in a hurry, almost couldn't believe that it truly was Iris standing before her. Marshal was left speechless, like Shauntal, he crouched down to hug her, hiding his tears and going on how happy he was she was alive. Grimsley dropped his coin the moment he saw her, but he smiled, wiping his tears as he went on how she got everyone scared thinking she was dead. It was a strange feeling. Drayden, the Elite Four, they all showed concern towards her. They showed how happy they were to see that she's still alive and doing well. It was.. unfamiliar to her. Ghetsis would often show them that he cares, but it never felt as warm as w Drayden and the E4. It was drastically different, and ofc, she knows why, it was still strange for her. She wasn't used to it.

Well hey, no need to dwell on those thoughts, she tells herself, as she walked towards the Champion chambers. It has.. been a while since she last been there. She wonders who'd greet her within the room. She actually prayed it won't be N.

Heading inside the chamber, everything was so different. Sitting on the throne, she saw someone donning blue, those hazel eyes looked at her, a small gasp left his lips as he hurriedly stood from his seat, almost running towards Iris but stopped midway, hand outstretched, wanting to reach out for her, but was terrified at the thought that perhaps.. it was another trick of his mind. Iris felt overwhelmed, it was her friend. He became champion, just as he always dreamt he'd be. She wanted to reach out too, to hold his hand once more, to hear his voice, and Arceus granted her that one thing as she finally hears the voice of her friend again.

"Iris..? Is that.. is that really you..?"

Hilbert.. she missed him so much. Tears brimmed her eyes as it did w him, and she nodded, running straight to his arms, w him holding her close, afraid she's gonna disappear again. They know they're going to battle soon, ofc Iris didn't head to the League just to see him, she probably didn't know he was Champion, but.. right now.. right now they don't have to think abt that. They'll cross that bridge when they get there, rn they're just happy that they're together again.

an au of the pokémon crystal cinematic universe that lives in my head where ethan (or gold, in this case) and lyra ARE there but they're like. completely in the background for the entirety of kris's journey to the point where kris doesn't even meet them until she's got all sixteen gym badges. but the thing IS since this is pokémon crystal and kris is the protagonist that grew up in new bark town on her own and has no friends to start out with that kind of begs the question of WHERE gold and lyra live because new bark isn't exactly big enough for a couple of new neighbors to just pop out of nowhere. so maybe gold lives in cherrygrove city (one of those "if a butterfly flaps its wings..." changes in the past led to his family living there instead of new bark) and maybe lyra's family lives up in goldenrod city to be around her grandparents, who run the daycare. and they wouldn't have grown up with each other so they'd have to meet when gold sets out on his journey (he gets ahold of the third starter. somehow. after kris and silver have long since gone. maybe he sees their battle in cherrygrove and is like damn maybe i wanna battle like that and a Series Of Events unfold).

and so he travels a bit and eventually reaches the daycare and that's where he makes friends with lyra and they hit it off so well that it convinces HER to go on a journey and they end up traveling kind of together but also kind of as each other's friendly rivals. and all the actual game plot stuff is happening in the background of THEIR journey and it gets funny as hell because gold and lyra hear about some kid beating up team rocket and they're like. yknow. WE could totally do that if we just had the chance. and eventually they get all eight johto gym badges and instead of going to kanto like kris does (already is, because gold and lyra are a bit behind) they're like. okay what if WE did something cool. and they hatch a plan to sneak up mount silver. and they ACCOMPLISH that plan to sneak up mount silver. and that's how kris ends up finding not only the missing legendary trainer red but also finds him surrounded by two other kids her age that just kicked his ass. and red might be able to pull another disappearing act after he's beaten when there's just one kid but THREE? yeah they're not letting him leave. and that's how THOSE three become friends

// yknow while it kinda looks like people just expect gym leaders to let anyone stomp all over them because “it’s the gym leader they’re only there to roadblock you and be beaten into the ground” volkner would really not let that happen.

there is a reason his gym is hardlocked as the last one in sinnoh. he will not go easy on anyone as the last one standing before the league and his status as equal to the elite 4 is also for a reason. he quite honestly does not care about holding back for the sake of the challenger because if they get to him, they should already know damn well how to battle and he’s going to make them prove it to earn that badge. it’s why he refuses to limit himself to electric types and why he’s so tricky and dangerous as an opponent.

if he feels like you aren’t taking him seriously for being “just” a gym leader? he’s going to steamroll you. he knows how to pick up on those things and he will not hesitate to get really serious then. it’s a good thing he refuses to use zapdos in league battles, honestly- he does want to be fair and a legendary is hardly that.(the battle tower, on the other hand-)

I'll have to entirely get back to this bc ive only seen a playthrough for b&w (and am playing it( while I haven't seen too much for b&w2 (the most is through pokemon masters ex) under cut bc it got too long

B side is what's happening in unova (and hisui) while the three are gone. Not gonna lie with hidui volo does dissappear but it's mostly people thinking he's traveling or learning new things (idk if it happens before or after the last boss fight in pla before yknow who so hhh).

In unova it's a bit funky wacky. Nimbasa city does not have a gym leader nor does it have anyone to run the subway stations.

I have b&w brainrot rn I'm not going to lie. As a temporary set up, N takes the lead for nimbasa city's gym (I'd assume w zekrom bc electric type and also who he uses in pokemon masters ex,, despite me playing white). Hilbert and Hilda also come back and take over the subway (pov you go to challenge the battle subway and the former champions of unova are there ro kick your ass. I think its funny).

Because I haven't played through b&w2 I cant entirely say *what* ghetsis and colress are doing . But they're doing something. The b&w 2 protags (and also rival hugh) along with the gym leaders (hello I have brainrot part 2), the elite four, (cynthia if shes in the reigon. Ik shes there in the summer in b&w so-) Champion iris, + Alder are all trying to figure out where tf they disappeared to. Because it's three important people. A gym leader doesn't suddenly dissappear without a cause or a reason, same w the subway bosses. Their genuine mind thought is 'team plasma is doing shit' (tbf they are bc a gym leader is, yknow,, gone)

So thwre is a weird balance thing going on and things certainly seem... (COUGH COUGH) black and white.

There's also a lot of personal feelings (MOST OF THESE ARE HCS SO AUGH)

The protags and the rivals (also N he's there too) are very thrown off by this. Afaik Hilda and Hilbert go searching for N after b&w so it seems like they'd try to go searching for elesa and the twins (ofc not as strong if a connection as they had to N but still very important). N also would like to get behind this because people don't just let go of their ideals that fast to pursue some far off truth that may not be real etc. I can't entirely answer how Cheren and Bianca feel considering I have yet to play b&w 2 HOWEVER i can say that theyre both very lost (that also goes for the b&w2 protags and Hugh but theyre thrown into this very suddenly).

Also with Cynthia being in Unova (at least canonically in the game during a season) it certainly leads to *some* hints on where ingo went (bc again he was missing first and then elesa and emmet)Emmet.

Again this probably will be changed once I play b&w2 (I can't find a good playthrough so ya)

Yes they all think 'oh they're looking for ingo' at first but it's genuine radio silence. It's been years since they've been in contact. Years once the nimbasa trio + Volo have been 'home'. Years since Unovans last saw them (also rip volo) so they kinda have time to get into these new 'positions'. Hilda and Hilbert run the battle subway (not as fun as adventuring but also the other option is to close it) and N is dealing with the nimbasa city gym (+ being a gym leader. Incredibly awkward since but technicality he was the king of team plasma.

Pov you go to get your bolt badge and it's from the guy who can talk to pokemon wyd)

honestly , it was a foolish childhood dream of his , ever since he’d met volt. being a pokemon trainer sounded so exciting , seeing all the other trainers pass through the city with pokeballs on their hip & partners by their side....he’d always been so jealous . but it was his mother’s dream for him to be an actor , & well.....he’d never been good at saying no .

now , back in galar , watching all these trainers battle alongside their pokemon in massive stadiums , kieran couldn’t help but feel more jealous than ever. volt had been his partner for many years now , he was sure to have picked up a few moves here & there. so he finds a quiet place in the wild area to practice.

volt , use tackle on that tree !

the little shinx throws itself at the tree , only succeeding in knocking loose a few leaves & berries. volt whines a little , running back to his place at kieran’s side , & he sighs , picking up the berries.

y’know, you’d make a great trainer.

kieran turns to find gloria behind him & his cheeks flush slightly , sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck.

‘ ah....i dunno about that. volt isn’t really cut out for battlin’, and....’s not like acting’s the worst thing in the world. ’

volt nudges his ankle , & kieran picks him up. at least having volt makes it bearable , he thinks , as the pokemon nuzzles into his shoulder with a contented purr.

‘ my mum’d have a fit if she found out i quit actin’, too. it was her idea that i even start. i mean, i don’t hate it, ‘s just... ’

mum, when do i get to go out and find my own pokemon ?? all the other trainers keep talking about gym badges and battling.

kieran, if you have the time to pester me about this, you have the time to go read your scripts again. actors don’t have the time to raise pokemon, and you’re an actor, aren’t you ??

The whole Dadan and Makino raise the boys thing still happens, they still run their little bandit daycare that’s more of a scam than anything (but they’re the real deal when they do decide to do their job, Ace learnt most of his skills and techniques from them)

So where’s Rouge in all this? (Honestly I dont even know where tf Roger is lol homie probably got stuck in some country without a passport or whatever ldbfnwkej)

Rouge has always been a bold and strongwilled woman, however she’s always been frail of body and after having Ace, became very ill and is mostly bedridden

She’s not in any life threatening danger its just she wasn’t able to raise a son whilst incapacitated like that, she doesn’t regret asking Garp to help and is forever in Makino and Dadan’s debt for taking her baby in

Makino ofc was the one who documented Ace’s growth and brought him over frequently for visits and I never mentioned it but yee Ace did have a relationship with his mom and always hoped to be more like her when he grew up and Rouge always humoured him like what? You wanna become a nurse? My little Ace?

Although imagine Rouge’s surprise and delight when Makino comes over to tell her that Ace has decided to participate in the league challenge, she never thought he showed much affinity towards pokemon not like that at least and is his number one fan 😂 (as all moms are yknow)

Imagine Gatz the legendary announcer in the stadium of Dressrosa introducing Ace like “Firefist!! we have fanmail from a Miss who says shes your mum! She says she loves you and is rooting for you!”

Also Ace didnt face Sabo for the eight badge (he and sabo were only fifteen sixteen at the time), Dragon was actually there and Ace had to battle him twice before he won, the only leader who actually defeated Ace in an official match, Luffy still calls his dad a stinky bastard for beating Ace that first time fellas pls with the dad issues

Anyway Infernape incident occurs right before the elite matches of all things 😔 Ace drops out for many reasons and thats when Rouge comes up to the Dadan estate (yes estate theyre actually rich) to stay and basically for the first time in years Ace gets to connect with his mom and its very emotional

Here Rouge helps him through the grief, she used to work as a psychiatric nurse (PMHN) and yeah …

She fully supports and loves his decision to move on from his dream and turn to his current career as a ranch owner etc

Rouge has three Pokémon: Floette, Charmander (everstone), Eelektross

Eelektross seems like a strange choice for Rouge but she found it as a tynamo and wanted to help it, it followed her home and eventually let her catch it and evolved after she had Ace, why it evolved maybe it was a maternal instinct inside of it that felt it needed to be stronger for Rouge :’) despite its fearsome look its the sweetest thing youve ever seen

Adventures in Pokemon Rejuvenation: Part 3

(Spoilers up to the third gym)

Because it takes me 8 hours to get from gym to gym I’m going to start writing these down as I go, instead of trying to sum it up from memory, so hopefully this is less all over the place lol ( Admittedly I struggle keeping track of everyone because there are. so many characters. and I definitely forgot to mention several things last liveblogs)

I head back to Chrisola Hotel and buy an XP All with all the AP I earned bumbling around

ONWARDS I GO to the xenophobic town in the woods

Amanda (woman who gave MC their starter) is back and we battle. TM: Cut acquired!

Caves have hidden items you can’t see so I’ve been touching every rock I find

I thought Luxio evolved in its 30′s like other multi-stage Pokemon but apparently! It evolves at level 30! so now I have a Luxray :) fun fact the Shinx line is my 2nd favorite line, just behind Cyndaquil’s

As I prepare to enter Goldenleaf Town I see a sus line on the ground and sure enough Ren pops up, says “this is my goal not yours” and activates a fence to keep me out. Sir I’m going to use your body as a stool to climb over there. dude if you didn’t want me to change the whole town’s outlook on people you could’ve just asked I would’ve gotten my gym badge and been on my way but I guess we’re doing this the hard way

Indriad was keeping a woman in an ice cold cellar apparently but she can’t leave yet. secretly I check a walkthrough so I answer her questions correctly because it’s apparently important later

Yknow as I enter another battle where the the enemy’s Pokemon are around my level, I realize my play style is “be a solid 5-7 levels above everyone else” and I'm so horrid with strategy that even with an all level 30 team on casual I dissolve like a bath bomb at any challenge

ooHOHOOHO BADGE AQUIRED??!? that took me way less time to get than it did to get the first and second badges but I’m not complaining!

oh we’re being sacrificed now wh huh

fuck it, some ideas i have for hypothetical galar-focused anime

-ash spends the series travelling with hop and sonia

-since ash starts the series by arriving at motostoke for the gym challenge (yeah, he’s already become champion, but i could see ash going to try and defeat the supposedly unbeatable champion yknow) there’s a sort of prologue ep with hop encountering an illusion zamazenta in the slumbering weald and setting off on his journey

-when it comes to starters, ash gets scorbunny and sobble (temporarily) and hop gets grookey

-i say temporarily for sobble bc a bit after it evolves into drizzile it ends up joining team rocket in a surprisingly not dramatic episode

-jessie gets a nickit and james gets a clobbopus, i admit i’m kinda biased torwards nickit and clobbopus just feels like a pokemon james would have

-a bit more buildup to the rose tower stuff over the course of the series

-speaking of rose tower, when ash and hop go in there, team rocket also tries to break in and end up with the type:null and a few of the memories for silvally (yes they have 4 pokemon by the end of the series. no i do not care.)

-isle of armor happens between the 8th gym battle and getting to wyndon and crown tundra happens after the league

-hop becomes champion bc he deserves it

edit: there’s another one i forgot. before ash and hop get their 6th gym badges, the gang happens to run into lillie, gladion, and lusamine bc i GOTTA see lillie and gladion again.. lusamine’s just here bc canon says she came along. anyway lillie catches a snom too.

ok here’s this. pokemon au ramble. because this week has just been me loving my ocs but bass boosted. under the cut!! this post will be REALLY long mainly because of the teams sorry!

pokemon au is pure bc no deaths or rlly bad things happen

buggy is a trainer who went on the pokemon journey for fun and as a coming-of-age kinda thing(also because he may or may not have burnt his house down with a litwick), but kinda stopped getting gym badges half way and decided to settle down and just take the road casually. he settled down with apoccy and they both run a little pokemon sanctuary and care for pokemon that aren’t able to go back to the wild or have some little quirk (for example a litwick that cant keep itself lit easily). he likes battling for fun rather than for glory, and when his rival (farrow, obvs) was like “ha im gonna beat u and become the champion and ur not” he was like “i mean ok have fun!” which makes farrow pissed. he’s a guy who really cares about pokemon’s feelings and basically got back into action from pokemon santuary-ing and fought against the coven (the bad guy team) to stop them from hurting anyone.

team:

- Ari (talonflame) (he flies around on her!)

- Lulu (chandelure) (his absolute baby and child)

- Fluffy (ampharos) (he named it fluffy when it was a mareep but then it evolved a bit and it wasnt fluffy anymore. its name is still fluffy tho)

- Big Boy (pelipper) (he’s a big ocean enthusiast but can’t swim and is a bit afraid of the water, so he uses pelipper to navigate over it and help him fish)

- Ellis (sylveon) (he wanted him to be a flareon but he loved them a lot and he ended up becoming a sylveon but buggy still loves him 100%)

- Musha (musharna) (musha helps him go to sleep easier and stay awake better as well, it’s basically his service pokemon ahghjhdjkf. she’s usually floating by his side!)

i think mendel would be a pokemon professor bc he studies pokemon. how he was even trusted enough to hand out pokemon to small children is a mystery, but gene takes care of most of the friendly stuff with handing u ur pokemon and stuff, mendel just does the research. later on it’s revealed that mendel is part of the region’s bad guy group, the coven! (>:3cc) their goal is to fuse multiple powerful pokemon together into the perfect pokemon that is able to beat everything and everyone else, in a combination of every type in existence. (Idk if this is the plot of any game bc i dont remember the plot of any game past pokemon b/w honestly) eventually the protag gets them to not fucking destroy everything and befriend the big boy pokemon (juggy, but like pokemon) and the coven disbands their group and just live life as normal people not criminals bc pokemon verse is best verse

team: - Juggy (sivally) (idk shit about sivally or the sumo plot but it looks like a fusion pokemon and its cute so like um there we go ig. in the actual au itd probably be a completely new pokemon but im lazy)

- Cofagrigus (obvious reasons. if i didnt want to keep this au pure i wouldve mentioned he still grave digs)

-Mimikyu (shut up its cute)

- Flabebe (flowere) (”oh what a pretty flower, it will be great to work on. oh no its a pokemon. guess its my child now”)

- Arbok (its a snake he loves snakes he gives it little pats on the head and rattatas)

- Claydol (it has a ton of red eyes and its black and red what more do you want from him. also he thinks it is cool and its psychic so like hhuiionnghgh yeah)

gene is a pokemon docdor (he heals those boys up for you and takes care of them) and helps mendel out in research since they both share an interest in researching pokemon!!! he doesn’t know that hes part of the bad guy team that snatches up pokemon and doesn’t question any weird things he decides to research about until like the end. he’s really nice and’ll probably catch up to you along your journey just to see how you’re doing, check up on you, and give you cool stuff like the master ball n stuff. he has a big greenhouse where he grows berries and’ll give you some as gifts along the way. he battles you occasionally to see how strong you’ve gotten and’ll heal your pokemon when your done, giving you tips. he likes hanging out around forests and little garden areas.

team:

- Serperior (long boi. good noodle boi.)

- Comfey (C O M F E Y flowere boi)

- I lost my old gene team im so sad so i dont remember any of it

- Bitty (budew) (BABY BOY BABY! he loves them sm) (it evolves into roserade later on but shhhshhh baby budew)

- Swanna (pretty birb!!) (helps him water the plants in the greenhouse!!)

- Ana (unfezant) (HE NEEDS ANA OK)

- Audino (mega) (he needs that healy pokemon it’s essential) (theyre his little helper)

farrow is the stereotypical rival guy tbh. with buggy he was like “im gonna be better than u” and buggy was like “stop bullying me” but then just “ok” so he got bored. with skuggy it was more competitive, and they even battled each other right at the victory road’s entrance to see who was better, but they never got to complete the elite 4 trial since the coven juggy shit happened and they basically had to team up temporarily to stop these guys. when all of that was done farrow got back to challenging the elite four and trying to become champion, but he’s still struggling and is trying to train his team to become better while skuggy went “eh i’m done that was fun tho” and gave up. farrow hates being seen as weak and wants to have the strongest team, but he still loves his pokemon even if he pushes them near the limit sometimes while all focused up on winning.

- Mittens (incineroar) (this was his starter, somehow, since he took the traditional trainer coming-of-age path and went to become the best.) (he loves his cat even if it did become....bipedal and buff??????) (They share the same big ego and victory flexing) (he rides on mittens’s shoulders sometimes or mittens carries him with arms in the air like a king)

- Rogue (liepard) (cate!!) (also it really fits him!!!) (he loves his thief cat and steals everyone’s items with it and makes them mad) (skuggy has cursed this cat out for stealing all his pokemon’s items at least twice before while both her and farrow looked on grinning smugly)

- Jasper (noivern) (i associate farrow with bats a lot, i think he likes bats now) (big fuckig boy who farrow flies on and farrow really likes battling with) (when farrow is out travelling and is tired and it’s late but he can’t find anywhere to stay, jasper shields him and makes whats basically a mini tent with his wings around him)

- Doggo (houndoom) (Farrow named him doggo as a joke but it stuck) (Fire dog with evil aesthetic! Farrow loves this) (He’s a good dog and farrow pats him for doing good work. he sniffs out berries and items for him on the road and is like his guard dog.)

- Snippy (gliscor) (another bat babey) (i might change it but idk) (it’s a sneakey boy) (he is also a tank and poisons everyone’s pokemon) (farrow accidentally gets stung by him like twice a week)

skuggy is a trainer who set out on the pokemon journey as a means to get out of his shitty house and family, collecting pokemon to help defend himself, but ended up really loving pokemon (especially bug types) and trying to take on a few gyms while he was at it. eventually he met farrow and it became kind of like a little race to see who can get the most gym badges first, giving him a motivation to travel the region and take on the elite 4. after the juggy fiasco he got a bit tired of fighting and decided he valued his pokemon a lot since they defended him and helped him fight back so he said “yknow what im gonna take a break from our race thing, im just gonna find somewhere to finally stay and chil out” while farrow was shaking the elite four’s door like “LET ME IIIIIN”. he’s kinda chill now and is thinking about going back and trying to fight the 4 someday, but for now he’s just a guy who catches bugs. he and gene hang out sometimes and go into forests n stuff. he’s still a butcher in this world ig. mans gotta make some money

team:

- Clove (scolipede) (his first pokemon, he caught it and went with it, but got really attached really fast) (she is his baby and he made it so far with her by his side and is really proud of both clove and himself for getting this far)

- Big Tony (armaldo) (he found a fossil pokemon and kept it since it’s rock type and can help ward off fire types, which is a big weakness of his team, but he ended up loving big tony too. i know theyre supposed to be like 4 foot 9 but please imagine big tony as a BIG boy that skuggy can ride on its shoulders and back to get around.)

- Babie (ribombee) (he caught this thing and said “this is the cutest shit i’ve ever seen.” went on to destroy dragon types and be the best bee ever.) (actually it’s pretty weak but skuggy believes in them)

- Toaster (heracross) (heracross was too cute for skuggy NOT to catch. it’s the powerhouse. this boy rips thru pokemon likes it’s nothing. unless it’s a fire or flying type. then it dies.) (it likes to f i t e and shares skuggy’s quick temper, because u know what they say, like pokemon like trainer)

- Big old boy (stoutland) (this was also one of the first pokemon he’s ever caught and it was really strong, defended him well and was kind of like the tank of the team, so he kept it. he likes sleeping on its back, and sometimes it has to remember it isn’t a tiny dog anymore because it tries to jump at skuggy to greet him and he gets fucking smashed.) (hes a very good boy, he’s very fluffy, and skuggy loves him so much and owes him his life)

- Jeff (swadloon) (skuggy loves his emo-looking son.) (ever since he beat depression in the dick he just cant help but see himself in swadloon) (but swadloon is happy, just very comfy and grumpy) (swadloon loves skuggy and skuggy loves swadloon) (i mean just look at him) (it’s perfect for skuggy)

honestly im torn on whether a gym leader should actually be removed during the course of the game. like that sounds dope???? and 8 is the clear candidate, mostly because 5 hasnt done anything (which is in itself part of the problem) and 7 has also done absolutely nothing to deserve it, but 8 has. and it would actually be kinda interesting.

theres 3 options for removing 8 - before you get there, WHILE youre there, and after. like, while youre on the road, you hear that a gym leader was arrested. you arrive in that town a while later to find a decadent, gaudy gym with an apologetic Gym Man out the front, explaining there is no gym leader due to the arrest, and that standard practice is to shut down the gym until the matter is resolved. the matter would then either be resolved following the City thing (meaning you do the 8th gym AFTER the story climax), or right then, with the Champion or some other Elite arriving with a new gym leader. a candidate for this position would be Bronwyn, Jun’s wife. im kinda into that. shes a good candidate regardless.

thats option a. option b is During. and by that i mean, you challenge the 8th gym leader, this absolutely guadily dressed man, completely insufferable. you fight him, you wipe the floor, and as hes handing you your prize tm, the door bursts open. its the Org. theyre here for him. you watch as he’s taken away, screeching. when you leave, Zeke/Elliot greets you re: that and also the base thing. here, the reason for you going to the base would e to find out whats up. so Zeke sending you makes sense. so Zeke’s like ‘hey [Player], did you get your badge from him? you didnt? shit, maybe you should go catch up to those Org folk. theyre in [the base].’ and you go and walk in and it looks fairly normal, but theres noone there. you explore, you find a secret entrance (think like in Mahogany Town except more obvious), you go in. then you go through and thats when you end up finding Felicity, who is doing some last minute prep with the grunts who are going to the City (Dante is, at that point, with a separate team of grunts - the forward scouts for the area where the legendary is. Small Fry, we recall, has already been arrested by you previously), and when she locks you up after you beat her. the way you get out, in the end, is Elliot, who was tipped off by Zeke. see, Zeke saw you enter, and Zeke waited for a bit, but you never showed. he peeked in and found the secret entrance and got fucking spooked, so he’s called Elliot. noone has exited the building (theyre all leaving by another exit). so finally Elliot arrives, Zeke explains whats happened, and Elliot goes in, finds an empty ass base, a dropped 8th gym badge, and eventually you. yay! gives you the badge and then you both leave. and then shit happens. i kinda like this, though then the question is where the 8th gym leader ended up going. and also why the org would choose to arrest 8 THEN, right as theyre about to go head to head with the Team? unless Rhia is fucking with them. since shes sorta head of police. it would be kinda fun if Rhia decided that if she’s about to fuck up the org, she may as well use its power while its still there to be used, and arrests 8 as a last act before shit goes tits. idk. the timing doesnt REALLY work, i think. the zeke bit works, though.

option c is after. after the other stuff. once the Org/Team shit is settled, and basically after you beat the elite 4, the International Police arrive en masse to sort this absolute mess out. its during this sweep (and the seizure of Org property for the investigations) that 8′s theft is discovered, and hes promptly arrested and replaced. however, if this is the case, id suggest that the 8th gym remains closed for the duration of the post game missions w/ Lyndelle, and that once that questline is resolved, the 8th gym reopen with Bronwyn as its leader. i dont think youd be able to battle her, but she’d give you dialogue and an item (for rescuing Lyndelle, mostly) and itd just be chatter. whether she’d still be poison type? i dont think so. i dont think that type suits her. hmmm....... maybe Dragon? that’d be kinda kickass. idk.

but yea. hmm. b is interesting because it feeds into the plot, but it doesnt really make a lot of sense UNLESS 8 is actually a Team member? which would then make him a perfect fall guy for Dante and Felicity. you remove him from the gym in the guise of arrest, tell him you’ll pretend it was a mistake later, send him off to do his job, he goes to the legendary, and is promptly arrested as the head of the Team. and because he IS actually a Team member, and DOESNT know Dante (its assumed) then it would actually succeed. but on that front, i kinda prefer people being assholes without having to be in the evil team. and if hes NOT a team member, his arrest no longer makes sense in terms of the timing. unless the intent is to send a few Org members away so that they can then Arrive in the city to drive back the team? like reinforcements? could be interesting. but then, still, where did 8 go? if hes team, he’s gone to the legendary to help back up the Squad. if he’s not, where the fuck did he go? does Elliot free him on his way through? there aren’t actually cells in the base though, you were actually locked in the Office (where you met felicity, and which she teleported out of before disabling the teleporter). so where would they have put 8?? it just seems contrived to me

a is boring and would result in somewhat awkward pacing. i find the idea of having to fight the 8th gym after the story climax to be...... awkward...... which might seem strange given i like heartgold but i never said it was my favourite pokemon game, huh. it also happens in xy, funnily enough. did it happen in bw2? i think it did. wait fuck of course it did, fucking marlon. god i keep forgetting about fucking marlon. god i really did not like marlon at all. but yea. idk. it feels like a drop on tension if you go from the evil team climax to the 8th gym, because the 8th gym isnt climactic. but if you go from team climax to gameplay climax w/ victory road and the elite 4, THAT has some tension and release. that feels like better pacing, to me? idk. my only real examples areeee gen 3 and gen 7, actually........ hmm.... HMMN actually hold on what the fuck am i saying. oh, bw1, ofc, my bad. but like, the pokemon games i dislike the most (dppt and xy) both do it and it feels stupid in both cases. ‘theres a blackout’ fuck off. yall heard of battery power? fuck. actually wow fuck both blackouts in those games are stupid. it all makes sense. it all clicks. anyway what im saying is C is probably my preferred option, so long as it IS built up to at some point. like, some dialogue somewhere mentions the growing discontent with 8, so that when you wake up after beating the e4 and the news is going ‘breaking news: 8 has been arrested for siphoning funds into his personal bank account to fund his extravagant lifestyle’ the player doesnt go ‘what the fuck’. though i guess the fact he’s dressed like a prince in a manor-esque gym surrounded b sorta dingy streets shoooullldd clue the player in that something aint right about that mans finances. something aint adding up. someones added a few zeroes.

anyway back to bronwyn. what type she would be doesssss wholly depend on the e4. 1 member of the e4 is confirmed, and thats Rhia/Elliot, who are multi type trainers. so thats that specialisation taken care of. Bronwyn would not be a poison type trainer, because shes supposed to turn this city the fuck around. uh. OOH!!! FAIRY!!!! fuck!!! of course!!!!! she should a fairy type gym leader. fuck. though, oooo, what if the Champion is the fairy type? shit. shit shit. nn.

hmm. well, ok. one of these 5 trainers (3 e4, champ, Bronwyn) needs to be fighting. one should be ice, perhaps a foreigner (sinnoh? which discounts Bronwyn, who is from Unova.... though......... lotta ice. got a vanniluxe and everything...... HMMMMMMMM) Electric might be good, since that isnt represented at all in the gyms uh. fairy, of course. and... hmm. steel? that was sorta Elliots thing but id be fine with an actual steel expert. though that would be sorta weird since the implication with the e4 is that they’ve basically been unchanged since Elliot retired, until the OTHER guy also retired. so there being another steel expert doesnt make much sense, and i dont think it super fits Bronwyn. uh. tit. graaass? grass might be a good fit for Bronwyn actually, if its all about like, regrowth. thats a nice idea.

ok, Bronywn is grass type. so then the 4 e4c members are fighting, ice, electric and fairy. which ones the chaaaampion???? fairy?? fairy is probably best. nice.

i like that. i also think that maybe you SHOULD be able to challenge bronwyn at some point. maybe you can fight her, to ‘christen’ her gym. she wouldnt be difficult, i wouldnt think, but it’d be a nice fun thing. would she give you a badge, though? hmm... maybe she gives you multiple items instead. idk. that’s up in the air.

i do like that idea though. it WOULD be important to highlight that 8 wasn’t a member of the Team, though. idk how to really provide that distinction, and i suppose it doesnt matter much? plus, if you look at it, 8 has allowed the Team to build a base on town without batting an eyelid because 8 doesnt care, so, yknow, facilitation. gj, git.

Ethan has never gone into a story moment willingly. It (almost) always has something to do with Kris being nearby. Team Rocket? Either a grunt surprises him or he’s chasing after Kris into hideouts to make sure she doesn’t get hurt. Legendary? He’s given a wing by a random guy in Kanto and he’s like huh cool. Then goes to explore either at the whirl islands or the bell tower with Kris (I think he’d get the secondary one) because oooooh, cool— OH MY GOD, B I R D. Or he’s in the grass training peacefully with Kris for once— IS THAT R A I K O U JUMPING AT HIM? Celebi event? He just wanted to check out this cool looking shrine and Celebi GRABBED him and Lyra, although it did bring them back which does give it brownie points. NPC Ethan who is forcibly osmosised with protagonist energy from exposure to Kris. He is so damn tired.

npc ethan who's just trying to have a regular old journey and is NOT trying to get dragged into this whole story mess and is somehow getting dragged into all of it anyway is quickly becoming my favorite version of ethan just because his sprite has a bitchface that fits it so well. anytime kris is nearby he's forced to Endure Things and he just wants some Peace and Quiet and Regular Old Trainer Battles none of this team rocket nonsense. and the one time he's NOT around kris he and lyra get dragged into the FUCKING PAST and they have to FIGHT GIOVANNI and watch reality tv family drama between him and the weird red-haired boy that kris keeps fighting with because they're related apparently. and somehow he becomes friends with those weirdos anyway because literally. how can he not. he's Just Some Guy having a Very Weird Journey and trying to keep his new friends from dying every two seconds and i hope he gets a nap soon

So what if. During the Celebi event. The protag squad actually decides to fuck with the past and ends up hiding their identities somehow, picking up little kid Silver and drags him to Lance.

Like Lance opens the door and gets handed this whole ass, terrified and sobbing child and Ethan just goes "some dipfuck abandoned your kid, please raise him his name is Silver and he likes dragons and dinosaurs i think" nd they just leave.

Back in the future they now have ti deal with whatever cane out of Lance and Clair raising a child. Which I believe theyd shelter him a little too much after hearing that someone abandoned him and now hes not that bright, has access to a tiny onslaught of dragon pokemon and likes arson probably

this is SUCH a fucking funny idea but i think instead of sheltering him lance would just encourage him to kick team rocket's ass even more. like lance had no problem beating up team rocket WITH the protag in mahogany town ("Sorry, <player>. I saw how well you were doing, so I just hung back.") and letting the protag handle the gyarados problem so i think he would see silver's hatred for team rocket and be like "i'll help train you to take them down!" which i feel like silver would HARSHLY reject at first because he wants to become stronger all by himself etc etc but then as the years go by lance's influence sort of helps him. calm down. and he learns that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness or an opportunity for life to stab you in the back. and since now he isn't homeless and having to do everything by himself (and being stuck with his own thoughts like an echo chamber as a result of it) i feel like he'd actually be smarter tbh because he's in better health and has a healthier mindset and makes better decisions because of that.

also i think that when lance sees the protag again he actually does recognize them from when they dropped a wholeass kid on his doorstep and he just. decides not to question it. especially when the protag gives no indication of ever having met him before

BUT ALSO. TINY SILVER ROASTING CLAIR LIKE HE DOES IN THE MAIN GAME. LIKE REMEMBER WHEN HE CALLED CLAIR "THE EMBARRASSING ONE IN THE WEIRD COSTUME" he would DEFINITELY do that at first and i think him and clair would have this ongoing feud that just won't stop. yknow how clair withholds the badge from you until you go into the dragon's den? i bet when silver comes to challenge her she won't even fucking let him in the gym. she locks the doors and is like AHAHAHA LOOK AT THIS IDIOT LOCKED OUT OF THE GYM until silver walks away for 15 mins and comes back and starts TPing the gym until she lets him in. and ethan & lyra are both standing off to the side like "what have we created"

but speaking of ethan and lyra i feel like they would be FLOORED when they meet silver after coming back to the present. like he's not calling them weak he's not trying to prove anything he's just. friendly. with some rough edges of course but it's like how he goes "hey, <player>! you're here in kanto too?" he's happy to see them! and he even helps out when it comes to taking down the rocket members in the radio tower instead of just blowing their cover and bailing. like overall i think silver having an actual stable parental figure that's Not going to abandon him for a criminal organization at the drop of a hat would have a massive impact on his character as a whole and i think the idea of ethan & lyra fucking shit up in the past is soooo funny. i love it

like all three of the tourists have pokemon its just that only one of them is a hardcore trainer, here to fuck up the league. theyre basically your second rival, a little more hardcore about it. plus theyd take the place of your rival battle at the pokemon league if, yknow, you got your rival arrested that one time. good going, idiot.

though, if you get your rival arrested, the chances are also high you werent friendly with the tourists, which meaaaaannnnnnnnssss uh....... hm. the Trainer might still fight you? maybe they fight you no matter what route. in the route where you treated them like shit, they’ll fight you to try and prove their better, and then the whole group will back off once you win. in a neutral route, similar idea, except theyre more friendly after they lose and you wish you luck. in good route, they fight you for fun and then theyre all really friendly and then take you to that grove and take the picture.

though, with the rival, they COULD still show up at the elite 4. after all, in between them possibly getting arrested and you getting to the league, theres a whole gym badge. id say its wholly possible they could be let off during that time. or they could escape with Felicity’s help? but that’d tie them into the post game content so i dont think thats what happens. theyve been let off with a stern warning, theyve come to the elite 4 to prove themselves, and they see you, and its time to Fucking Duel. soooooo two battles??? two rival battles at the e4??? THOUGH i did say there was a Champions Village. like, you exit victory road, and youre in the village. and its there you encounter the tourists. a little further on, up a big ol fancy staircase, is the actual pokemon league w/ a pokemon center (the village also has one but a little more..... rustic?? or blends better, though its still clear its a pokemon center. think how in Aquacorde in Kalos, theres a lil shop where the lady will heal your pokemon). and when youre about to enter the actual league, THATS when your rival bursts out and goes ‘oi cunt its time to duel’. or ‘hey friend, lets battle!’. or ‘hey. wanna fight?’ something like that.

soooo two rival battles? i kinda like it. also the end of the tourists route is non optional. like.... uh.. when you first meet them in [Melbourne], thats a non optional encounter, you have to have it. same for when you meet them in the champs village. there could be some other non optionals but not too many.

#also yea like if you made your rival into your enemy they get straight up arrested at the culmination of the 'story' with team/org #because they joined Team Whatsit and were in the tower at the end. so they get straight up arrested. their mom fucking hates you #like NO MATTER WHAT if your rival get arrested. regardless of whether you patch things up. their mum fucking hates you #you walk into their house back in the starter town and she tells you to fuck off yknow. like she hates you. rival told her EVERYTHING #story blogging #codename seren

id also like a third character to be affected by your choices. i consider rhia/elliot to be one ‘character’ in the sense that their outcomes are tied together - you effect them both, not just the individual. then theres your rival, with them possibly joining the Team. thing is, i cant realllly think of a third character that could fit this sort of idea. i COULD maybe play with the champion? but she wasnt going to be big, she was just gonna turn up a few times, doing good, yknow. helps arrest dante at the end when he attempts to flee after you kick his ass. maybe a few other times. though i could have it be that she actually is connected to the Org (but NOT the Team). so she’s basically there whenever its Big Police time. she helps out whenever theyre doing big arrests, she responds to disasters, she’s an honorary member. but how that’d tie into YOUR decisions??? idk.

another alt was the Professor, but the issue is that, again, having your decisions affect her doesnt really make sense. PLUS, due to her being close friends with Elliot, it’d make far more sense for any changes to her coming through Elliot - like, her reacting differently if Elliot is e4 vs if Rhia is e4. especially since she knows about Seren (and also knew her, hence why Elliot told her about the thing), itd make far more sense to add her into the more developed rhia/elliot routes and not have her own. because then its like. real fucking tangled, dude. even with the two ‘routes’ currently, as in, Rhia/Elliot and Rival, the amount of variables in the ONE scene is fucking mental. theres whether its reconcile or split (since its actually the culmination of the route), THEN theres whether your rival is Enemy, Neutral, or Friend. if Enemy, they will appear as a member of the Team and beat you up. if theyre neutral, they will not be present. if theyre Friend, they will be there with you and Elliot fighting off team. so thats, what, SIX different outcomes???? SIX versions of the same scene? fuck. god. holy shit. so the idea of having the Prof with a separate route that would also get tangled with the rhia/elliot thing is mental. plus, i like the idea of a route thats separate from this basically Mini Plot. something wholly unrelated.

maybe something really minor. a couple of minor characters who you see regularly. maybe its like..... a group of trainers from out of the region, like basically a bunch of young adults coming over to [Victoria] on a holiday who you meet when you first reach [Melbourne] and you see them constantly, you can hang out with them, they could have a side event where you all go explore a haunted house together. fuck. that actually sounds really fun. like, ooh, alright. so you meet them in the big city, a big bunch of friendly foreigners (a few loud, a few quiet, yknow), they ask directions and have a chat and they wave you on your way. you meet them again later, they meet up and give you like, some pokeballs for showing them where the pokemon centre was. you’ll get some dialogue options, nothing major, where you can ask where they’re all from, why theyre here, yknow. no real choices. though maybe how you react to each of their reasons will influence the group score. like, one of them would be a nerdy kid, whose reason for coming was because ‘they wanted to see all the new flora’ (not pokemon because lol fucking try me lads im not doing fakemon) and you can say ‘wow nerd’ or ‘thats really cool!’ and the former would subtract points and the latter would add points. really small stuff.

you have this sorta thing happen a few times. you see them all the time. theyre basically there every single town you go to. you dont see them at all in the big Team/Org finale. they dont get involved in any of the main plot stuff. they are wholly tangential and after your first encounters with them you can just fucking ignore em. loses points, obv, but yknow. now, either the haunted house happens before the team thing or after. im thinking before - a moment of optional levity before ~story shit~, right. this’d be where BIG group points are. while youre in there, you can pull pranks, you can knock stuff over to scare some of them, or you can be super straight faced, you can soothe the ones who get spooked, like. you decide how to treat them about this. it might be case by case, like one character might really enjoy being startled (on some level, anyway) and you gain points, another character might burst into tears and run out of the house if you jump them, losing points, etc. its just you and a bunch of a friends in a big house. sorta like, oh god, wasnt there a haunted house in bw2? sorta like that, in that theres a specific linear path through the house, but along the way, you get little detours, you can interact with them, its just good fun. get a lot of points.

after the team climax, you PROBABLY still have a gym to go (+ the [Melbourne] badge if you skipped it by fighting Rhia earlier). you get to that next town, the group immediately mobs you, asking questions. youll get a few choices here, like you can tell em to fuck off (nice going, asshole), losing a shit ton of points but one of them will go ‘that bad, huh? aight’ and theyll all back off. you can tell them the truth, or you can ~embezzle~ it, have some fun. they’ll love it. theyre a bunch of fun jokesters. they’ll probably check at the end like ‘wow, really?’ and if you say ‘nah totally false’ theyll be sorta peeved, but if you say ‘wellllll most of it’ theyll go ‘aw, sweet’ and theyll each decide what they believe. smth like that.

their route probably culminates when you reach the elite 4. you reach the champions village (for lack of better term, because i really like the idea of there being a small town built around the Pokemon League, if for no other reason than to act as housing for the e4 and champ), and the groups there again. sorta lost for ideas here specifically. like, if youve been as ass, theyll be laughing, having fun, then react to you coming and going ‘oh... hey... here to challenge the league yeh?’ ‘yea’ ‘well. good luck?’ and then thatll basically be it. a few of them might not even talk to you. like just total silence. but if youve been nice, youve been friendly, theyll greet you really excited, they’ll give you an item, might even take you to their ‘new spot’ - a little grove off the village you can easily find yourself, but its past the point where you see them, yknow. so they take you there and theyll take a big picture with you and wish you luck. like itd just be big warm fun.

they might also have a ‘neutral’ route, sorta like your rival, where theyll greet you and give you an item but wont take you to the grove. they MIGHT appear after you beat the e4, but their route wouldnt really progress from there. or, maybe, an idea - if you treat them like shit, after you beat the e4, they leave. completely. theyve all gone home. theyll leave with a slightly bitter taste in their mouths. but if you treat them nice, or even just with some basic respect, theyll stick around and keep sightseeing after you beat the e4. they dont even remotely interact with the other routes at all. theyre totally separate, just having a good time. good good vacationing children. i like this.

#codename seren #story blogging #theyre basically like your 'friend group' from xy except if theyre a lil 2d it doesnt matter because theyre way more extraneous #whereas the friends in xy show up allt he fucking time and only Shauna and Serena/Calem have anything. yknow how it is. i hate them #but you basically take that idea but them being 2d makes sense because they have ZERO bearing on the actual 'plot' of the game #you can fight them a few times. especially the leader. big outgoing kid with a heart of gold. represents the whole thing yknow #dunno specifics about the group. 3 is probably a good size? one of them isnt a trainer though. theyre just a close friend #like they probably have a pokemon but they arent a battler. they just have fun yknow. ones a hardcore trainer desperate for new challenges #probably the leader. youd gain a nice chunk of points by accepting that characters optional battles (theyre totally optional)#you can decline and then come back and in theory the points for battle/not battle would be calculated once you hit the next flag #that'd put them in the next town over

The only times Rhia does anything really villainous is when she attempts to remove the player from proceedings. not in like an elimination way, but by guarding doors to prevent you going through, or by at one point blocking a corridor so youre funnelled into a locked room that she intends to keep you in to stop you interfering. but this isnt because she wants Felicity and Dante to succeed, so much - in fact, she wishes theyd get fucked. but shes deathly scared that you, a like, 10 year old, will end up the same way she did, except this time Jun isn’t around to save you. she refuses to let that even POTENTIALLY happen.

this does allow her confrontation with Elliot to still happen. it has to change from the original idea, because shes much more of an.... anti-villain? than before. or maybe closer to an anti-hero. its a bit mixed. but she basically capture you (and possibly your rival, though this depends on whether he’s actually part of Team Whatsit or not. since, if he is, then she has no reason to capture him except as an accident. if hes on your side, he’ll probably be going through the org base with you and thus get caught up). then Elliot arrives. that, or you were travelling with Elliot (and maybe rival). so then youre lead into the room by Rhia straight up crashing part of a corridor to stop you getting through (off screen, of course) and then she locks the doors behind you, comes out, you get the big scene with her and Elliot (where the outcome is determined by a few of your actions and how they relate to Rhia and Elliot’s ideals). You probably have to fight her there, where she’ll have her ‘team’ outfit. which is probably just a badge she had hidden under a jacket or something. then she might just give up and unlock the door.

like, the ‘outcome’ has to be the same, which is that the door is unlocked and youre free to continue (there are two doors), but i feel like maybe how its unlocked should change. you can only have so many variables. but if you reconcile elliot and rhia she ABSOLUTELY opens the door. but if you dont, and she still hates his guts, then what. maybe the fight with her is optional? like, as in, if you reconcile them, you dont have to fight her because she’ll jsut open the door, but if you dont, you have to fight her to PROVE you have what it takes, and she’ll open it then. there is also the variable for the rival and what the fuck he’s doing during all this. i feel like you need to have a fight in this room regardless. so there will likely be grunts who appear that you need to fight, and then Rhia rocks up. ideally theyd be like, yknow those hoard battles from oras? that. to emphasise the SIZE of the grunt army and how lucky you are that Rhia appears (since up to this point shes been your Ally, without much exception) and then that hope is dashed when she starts antagonising Elliot up fuck creek. thats a good idea.

thats basically the only time she actually stops your progress in like, an asshole way. her stopping you leaving the city until youve fought the gym (or fought her) is kinda assholey but has nothing to do with the evil team. thats jsut like.... progression? gameplay wise. not story wise. it has little to do with story (except that fighting her gives you like 10+ reconcile points. fucking insane. she loves it)
