Left For Revenge
Chapter 3- Bound for Sorrow
Warnings: Swearing, murder, mentions of rape, arson, violence, torture, language, captivity

The sun was already high in the sky when Abigail made her way down the stairs of the grand home. She had been in the home for three weeks now with no sign of being able to leave. Loneliness was her companion, with loneliness being replaced by Andy on rare occasion. She could count on her hands how many meals they had eaten together in the last few weeks. When they were together, they spoke little so Andy was still a mystery.
Sitting on the couch in the living room was Lucky. Abigail halted when she saw him and opened her mouth to speak then shut it. He looked up, “Mr. Barber isn’t around at the moment. He should be back soon.”
Lucky returned his attention back to the papers in his hands. Abigail watched him silently for a moment then gave a small cough, “Is it okay if I talk to you?”
The man before her nodded, “I suppose so. We have to make it brief though. I don’t want the boss catching me talking to you.”
Abigail tilted her head, “Why? What would he do to you?”
A small laugh escaped the mobster’s lips, “Have a seat and we can chat.”
Timidly, Abigail sat down opposite Lucky, “How long has Andy worked for the mob?”
With a sigh, Lucky placed the papers on the table, “I am not sure but he has been in the game at least 15 years.”
“What does he do to make his money? I mean, this place must have cost him a fortune.”
Lucky smiled at her again but deflected, “He’s intrigued by you, ya know. He thinks you are something special. That’s why he’s keeping you here. Savio Peretti was the Boss’ mentor.”
At the mention of her grandfather, Abigail straightened, “How long did they know each other?”
Before Lucky could answer, the sound of a car door slamming made Abigail jump from her seat and pass toward the fireplace before shooing herself out of the room just as the front door opened.
Andy walked through the door followed by two more of his men, “We need to come up with a way to make sure that Peter Barone doesn’t act up again.”
~~
“I TOLD you not to disturb me when I was having a meeting with my associates. I told you not to be seen. You deliberately disobeyed my instructions.” Andy roughly dragged Abigail by the arm toward her room, “I also told you there would be consequences if you didn’t follow my rules.”
He forced open the door and shoved her inside, “You will not be allowed to roam the house for a while. I will be bringing your food to you. Don’t try to climb out the window, it has alarms on it.”
Before Abigail could protest, Andy slammed the door behind him and locked it from the outside. Abigail pounded on the door, “Please let me out. I’m sorry! Please!”
Hearing no response, she sunk down the door and cried into her knees. She hadn’t meant to be seen by the other bosses. She had been hungry and was headed to the kitchen. As soon as she hit the bottom of the stairs, whistling, Andy was on top of her and he was angry. Now, she was stuck in this room for God knows how long.
Downstairs, Andy continued his meeting and addressed the other men in the room, “You will all forget the woman you just saw. If you don’t, there will be trouble. Are we all agreed on the terms that were discussed before we were interrupted?”
The other three bosses nodded in agreement to the Viper’s demands and one spoke out, “What will happen from here? How are you going to deal with the Grassi brothers?”
Andy settled back into his chair, “I have dispatched three of my men to deal with the upstarts. I can promise that you will not have to worry about them overstepping much longer. Hopefully, they will take the hint.”
Suddenly, the door opened and the Givans twins and Venom stepped through it. Immediately, Andy turned and raised his eyebrow. The men nodded and Venom stepped forward, “The situation has been dealt with. They won’t be misbehaving because they have been warned what will happen if they do.”
“Thank you, gentlemen. Now, if there isn’t anything else I believe we are done. My men will escort you back to your cars. Enjoy the rest of your evening.” Andy rose and the others followed suit each shaking his hand before leaving the house. After they were gone, Andy turned to the three men still there, “You may leave for the night. Let me know when you are through the gate and I will set the yard alarm.”
“Yes, boss,” they answered. Then they were gone.
~~
The sound of an unlocking door shook Abigail out of her reverie. Andy entered her room with a tray of food and set it down, “I brought you some dinner. I may have locked you in your room but I am not a total beast. I won’t let you starve.”
He turned and shut the door behind him then moved to pull a chair up in front of it. Waving his hand, Andy motioned to the food, “Eat.”
Abigail’s voice trembled, “What about you?”
“I already had my dinner. Besides, I have something else I want to discuss with you. It has come to my attention that you have been taking up Lucky’s time. That was another rule that I gave to you and you have broken it.”
Abigail lowered her fork and her eyes, “How did you find out about that?”
Andy leaned further back into the chair, “So you admit that you have been speaking to my men when you are not supposed to. I found out because I watched the camera footage of you approaching my men and trying to engage them in conversation. Also, Lucky told me that you had been asking about me.”
“I-I,” the young woman stuttered, “I only wanted to know more.”
Abigail took a bite of her food and kept her eyes low. The Viper shifted, “I will only say this to you one more time. My men are here to work. They are not here to be your personal sources when it comes to my past, my present or my future. Do you understand that?”
No response came from the brunette across from him so Andy raised his voice almost angrily, “Do. You. Understand?”
A nod then a sniffle from Abigail cause Andy pull out his phone, “I don’t like getting angry but I will when I am ignored. Now, I will sit here until you finish your dinner and then I am heading off to bed. I suggest you do the same.”
~~
Something was off. Something caused Abigail to wake suddenly. As she opened her eyes, she caught a glimpse of Andy standing by her bedside in a long robe. His hand was on her shoulder. When he spotted that she was awake, he raised a finger to his lips then hissed, “Get behind the fireplace, now.”
In the moonlight, Abigail caught the glint of a gun in Andy’s hand. He waved it at her to take. Understanding the meaning, Abigail kicked the covers off of her and shimmied out of the bed and took the gun. She then pushed herself against the wall by the fireplace and plugged her ears. Andy stood in front of the door, raised his gun and fired off three shots.
A thud sounded from outside the room then bullets sprayed through the wall. Andy threw himself to the ground and crawled to better cover. The door exploded inward and three men entered.  Two were in masks and the other wore a trench coat and a bowler hat.
As soon as they passed the threshold, Andy fired from his position on the floor. The first man was moving too quickly, and Andy missed him.  The second man was slower and was struck twice in the chest.  He fell immediately. The man in the bowler hat had ducked back behind the other side of the wall of the sitting area when Andy had fired at him earlier, and now fired two rounds toward Barber. Both shots miss. Andy had crawled closer to the walk-in closet after shooting the second man, and now raised his gun. He struck bowler hat twice in the chest, saw the body armor, and put a third round into his head.  Andy’s pistol locked back on an empty chamber just as the fourth, more cautious assailant entered the room.
The fourth man gestured for Barber to drop the empty pistol and gloated, “I can’t wait to tell the boys that I killed the Viper of Massachusetts.”
The intruder leveled his gun and began to pull the trigger but his finger halted at the sound of a loud bang. In shock, he turned only to find Abigail standing by the window, holding the gun Andy had given her. The man fell backward and stumbled to the ground before hitting the floor with a thunk. Blood pooled from a wound in his chest.  It seemed only one of the crew had worn any body armor.
Andy stood up and wiped the sweat from his brow, “You fool! What if you had gotten shot?”
Abigail squared herself against him for the first time, “What if you did?”
The man shook his head, “Come along. You can’t stay in this room. I will call my men in the morning to clean up this mess. In the meantime, I need to find another place for you to sleep. I suppose you can stay in another one of the other bedrooms.”
He was already plotting in his head how he was going to deal with this mess. The first step was finding out who was responsible. The best way to do that and plan his next move was to leave for a bit. But what do I do with the girl? Andy mused. Then it came to him. Sicily.
“I’m thirsty,” Abigail stated.
“I will bring something up to you to help you sleep and quench your thirst. First, I will have to get you settled in the spare room.”
Abigail followed Andy out silently and down the hall to a spare room. After leaving Abigail, Andy returned to her bedroom and shut the door. The problem inside could wait until morning.
He made his way down to the kitchen and opened the cabinet for a glass then turned to the fridge for water.
Abigail jumped at the knock then she called out, “Come in.”
Andy entered the room and handed his captive the drink. She took it without issue and began to gulp it down. Once she was done, Andy murmured, “Go ahead and lie down. You should sleep better now.”
The young woman nodded and crawled into the bed. Her eyes closed and she slept immediately.
The next morning, Andy approached her, “I want you to pack a few things in a bag. We’re leaving for a while.”
“Where are we going?”
“Away.”

Left For Revenge
Chapter 4- Terra di Turchese e Pietra
Plot: Andy is a feared and respected mob boss who is not to be crossed. When he is, he seeks revenge. What he finds in the process is a girl to fall in love with which could spell trouble.
Warnings: Swearing, murder, mentions of rape, arson, violence, torture, language.

“Abigail, look out the window.” Andy pointed downwards, “We’re arriving.”
The young woman looked down at the sight of an island below her then looked at Andy, “Where are we?”
“Sicily,” Andy replied with an almost smile, “I think you will like it here.”
Taking a ragged breath, Abigail asked, “Why are we here?”
Barber tilted his head, “We both needed a break so I brought you here.”
The plane touched down at the private airport and Andy leaned forward, “When we get off the plane, you are to follow what I do, okay? Don’t say anything to customs. I have dealt with them.”
“How?”
“That’s nothing for you to worry your pretty little head about.” Andy’s Boston brogue slipped out.
Abigail nodded, “Okay.”
The private jet stopped and the pilot opened the door causing the stairs to descend. Andy rose and motioned for Abigail to follow him. They descended the stairs and Abigail stopped in shock at the bottom. In front of her was a deep blue luxury car with a man standing by the rear. He turned to Andy and handed him the keys to the car, “Salve signore. Godetevi l'auto a noleggio.”
Andy took the keys, “Thank you.”
Abigail looked taken aback, “You don’t know Italian?”
Andy shrugged turned to the passenger door and opened it for her, “ I never learned. I’m Irish, not Italian.”
The young woman climbed in and he closed the door behind her then Andy walked around to the driver’s side and slid in. He put it in drive and pulled off.
Then Abigail squeaked, “What about our luggage?”
“Taken care of.”
~~
The drive itself was silent. Abigail stared out the window at the sight of the town passing by. She had never been to Sicily before. She knew it was beautiful but she didn’t expect this. Andy pulled onto a side road that narrowed to one lane. Lush trees lined the road and a number of driveways jutted into it. The car stopped at a gate then opened when Andy pushed a button on the keypad.
At the end of the drive, a two-story villa rose above the sea. Andy parked the car under a carport and stepped out, “Let’s go inside.”
Abigail stepped from the car and took in the sight before her. The scent of the Mediterranean air calmed her anxiety and she followed her host into the house.
~~
The man sat at his desk, his face partially shadowed, and spoke angrily into his phone, "What do you mean the plan failed? I sent my best men to take him out. You told me the security was nil. How did he survive?"
His source on the end snarled, "He's tougher than I thought."
The man shook his head, "You said the girl would be his weakness and she had no defense. My men should have been able to surprise him and kill him. Instead, the girl had a gun too. Who squealed and let him know they were there?"
From the phone, there was a sigh, "I don't know. He is out of the country now though."
"If he is out of the country, he will be impossible to find."
A pause came from the other end of the phone then scoff, "I know where he and the girl are."
The new threat hissed, "Where?"
"Sicily. They went there for a break,"
"Damn it. I can't touch him in Sicily. That place is crawling with mafia bosses. We will have to wait for his return. I will prepare my men. I have my sights set on Boston and no one, not even the Viper of Massachusetts, can stand in my way.""
"I know someone who can get to him in Sicily."
"Who?"
"The Beast."
"That may actually work. Be ready to move on. I have a call to make."
The line clicked then the man dialed an all too familiar number. It rang twice before someone picked up. A smarmy voice floated through, "What can I do for you?"
"Hello, Lloyd. I need you to go to Sicily. I have a target for you."
~~
“What do you want to know?” Andy leaned back on the lounger, his shirt revealing his eagle tattoo and part of the quote on his chest.
The young woman pointed at his tattoo, “We can start with what is that tattoo of?”
Andy glanced down, “Oh, that? That’s an eagle. Next.”
Abigail tilted her head, “What does the quote say?”
Andy smiled, “Death smiles at everyone but only the brave smile back.”
She raised the glass of wine to her lips and sipped, “Is that your motto?”
With a smirk, Andy tipped back his beer bottle and took a swig, “Depends on the situation. Sometimes I am death and sometimes I am the brave fool smiling back.”
“Do you have any other tattoos?”
As if on cue, Andy peeled his shirt off revealing a myriad of tattoos littering his chest, shoulders and perhaps on his back.
Some of the tattoos were small and others covered a large portion of his skin. Abigail gasped at the sight. Then she pointed to a particular tattoo on his right shoulder, “Is that the sign of Libra?”
He nodded, “It is.”
“What is the meaning of it?”
Andy’s face fell, “It was my mother’s astrology sign.”
Abigail shifted in her seat, “I have been meaning to ask you. The picture in your house in Boston.. It’s of you and your mother, isn’t it?”
Andy turned his face away, “What other tattoos do you want to know about?”
She tilted her head and pointed to a strange bird, “What is that one for?”
The mob boss looked down, “The phoenix represents resurrection and new life from the ashes. I got that one after my father died.”
“Oh,” Abigail ducked her chin, “I’m sorry.”
He made a face, “Don’t worry about it. My father was a monster. That’s why I got the tattoo.”
“Was he abusive?”
Andy nodded, “He was very abusive to both my mother and me. He’s gone now so I am not concerned about it any longer.”
“Okay.”
Silence reigned for a moment. When Abigail raised her head, Andy was standing right in front of her with a look on his face she had never seen before. His hand raised up to her chin and he tilted her head back. Andy’s eyes roamed Abigail’s face, landing on her lips then back to her eyes. As if subconsciously, Abigail gave a small nod and parted her lips slightly.
Taking the cue, Andy closed the gap and rested his lips on hers in a gentle touch. A small gasp escaped Abigail’s mouth causing Andy to pull back. His face hardened and he pulled away, “I shouldn’t have done that.”
He turned and walked away, leaving Abigail alone on the patio.
~~
Abigail was seated on the couch, reading, when Andy approached her with a bowl of popcorn and asked, “Want to watch a movie?”
She closed her book and smiled at him, “Sure. What were you thinking?”
“How about a comedy?”
The young woman smiled, “Okay. We can do that.”
Andy dropped onto the other end of the couch and put the popcorn between them. He then hit the power on the remote, “Do you want something more classic or something more modern?”
She smiled at him, “How about Some Like It Hot? That’s a great film.”
With a smirk, Andy cocked an eyebrow, “The one about the two musician on the run from evil mobsters?”
He let loose a low laugh, “You realize we aren’t actually like that, right? We aren’t all money grabbing murderers chasing people to kingdom come because they saw a hit.”
Abigail’s face fell and she looked down, “Oh, um, okay. Well, I-I guess I—”
Andy reached out and lifted her chin, “Hey, I was kidding. I like that movie. Some Like It Hot is my go to comedy movie. The portrayal of the mob is funny. Come on, get some popcorn and watch the movie with me.”
She reached out and grabbed some of the popcorn and shoved it in her mouth as the movie began to play. Bit by bit they drifted closer on the couch and about midway through the film, both Abigail and Andy each reached a hand into the bowl. What felt like a shock of electricity passed through their fingers as they brushed. Immediately, both pulled their hands back.
“I’m sorry.” They both said at the same moment.
Andy smiled, “Here, you can have the last bit. There’s not much left.”
Abigail tucked her hair behind her ear, “Thank you.”
Their eyes locked for a fleeting moment and in that moment, Abigail took a chance. Leaning in, she pressed her lips to Andy’s. His eyes widened in surprise then fluttered closed and he began to return the gesture, tilting his head to the side to get a better response from her. Then his eyes shot open again and he pushed her back, “No! No, I can’t do this. We can’t. It’s too dangerous.”
Andy rose to his feet then he was gone.
~~
The next morning, Abigail was woken by the sound of her door opening. She rolled over in the bed to find Andy standing in the doorway. The woman pulled the covers up over herself, “What are you doing in here? What time is it?”
“It’s nearly 9:00. Go ahead and get dressed. We’re going into town today. I’m going to show you around.”
Abigail stared at him, her eyes drifting over every inch of his face, “Okay.”
Andy began to depart, “Wear something comfortable today. We will be doing a lot of walking.”
As soon as he had left the room, Abigail rolled from the bed and made her way into the bathroom where she showered. After her shower, Abigail dried herself off and wandered over to the bed where she found an outfit laid out with a note in Andy’s writing. Wear this.
The outfit consisted of a white and black striped blouse with peach colored scalloped shorts and a pair of new converses. Abigail put on the clothes and was midway through putting on the shoes when a knock came on her door.
“Come in.” She called.
The door opened to reveal Andy in a dark blue striped quarter length sleeve polo with jeans that were snug in all the right places and a pair of tennis shoes. He looked her up and down, “You look great. Meet me outside when you’re done.”
Abigail nodded silently and proceeded to put on the second shoe. Once she was done, she made her way out to the front of the house. There, she found Andy leaning against a motorcycle. A smile graced his lips at the sight of her, “You really do look beautiful.”
Abigail blushed, “Thank you. Are we going on that?”
She pointed at the motorcycle and Andy glanced at it, “Yes. Is that a problem?”
The brunette bit her lip, “I’ve never been on a motorcycle before. Honestly, they kind of scare me.”
Her companion patted the seat, “Don’t worry. It’s going to be fine. I wouldn’t let anything happen to you. Hop on.”
Cautiously, Abigail slid onto the back of the motorcycle then Andy threw his leg over the seat in the front. Turning, he wordlessly handed her a helmet which she took and placed over her head. Andy followed suit with his own helmet. Once it was on, the mobster tapped the side of the helmet, “Can you hear me? There’s a microphone in your helmet. Just talk and we should be able to hear each other.”
“I can hear you. Can you hear me?” Abigail asked.
“Yes. Hold onto me since this is your first time.”
Instantly, Abigail’s arms wrapped around Andy. He kicked the stand up, started the motorcycle and they were off.
~~
Andy stopped the motorcycle at the edge of a car park and removed his helmet. He offered his hand to Abigail and helped her off as well. Abigail took her helmet off, “Where are we?”
“Teatro Antico di Taormina. It’s an ancient Greek theater. It was built somewhere around 200-300 BC. It’s quite a sight.”
Abigail smiled, “It’s incredible. Can we go down?”
“Of course.”
They made their way into the ruins and explored for a bit before returning to the motorcycle and taking off again. This time, they stopped at the edge of a closed off street. Removing her helmet, Abigail tilted her head, “Why are we here?”
The mob boss removed his helmet as well, “We are at Corso Umberto. It is the main street for shopping. We are going to walk around a bit.”
He took her hand and led her up the crowded street. Glancing behind him, he noticed someone leaning against a wall, watching him closely. Andy shook off the uneasy feeling and gripped Abigail’s hand tighter as they disappeared into the crowd. He pulled her into a shop, “Take a look around. I will be right here. Let me know if you find something you like.”
Abigail smiled gently at him, “Thank you.”
She wandered around, occasionally glancing Andy’s direction only to be met with a nod. Finally, she pulled a white long sleeve drop shoulder blouse off the rack and turned to the attendant, “Do you have somewhere I can try this on?”
The woman stared at her blankly, so Abigail tried again, “Hai un posto dove posso provarlo?”
The shopkeeper nodded and motioned for Abigail to follow to a changing room on the side of the shop. Once Abigail was satisfied she liked the top, she returned to the front and to Andy, “If it’s okay, I would like to get this. I have no money though.”
He smirked, “I will buy it for you on one condition.”
“What is it?”
“You tell me where you learned Italian. I never knew you could do that.”
It was Abigail’s turn to smirk, “You never asked. I learned from my grandfather.”
Andy purchased the top and led Abigail from the shop as she called back, “Grazi.”
This time, Andy let out a low laugh and led her about the market street. He would check his shoulder to find the same person lingering whenever they paused at a shop. Finally, Andy turned to a restaurant, “Let’s eat on the patio of this restaurant. Are you hungry?”
“Yes,” Abigail answered, “I am quite hungry. This place looks fancy.”
Andy checked his shoulder again, “Not as fancy as it could be. You know what? Let me take you somewhere a little nicer. You deserve it.”
He glanced to his left and saw the stranger again, lingering at the door of the cafe. The mobster wrapped his arm around Abigail’s waist and leaned in and whispered, “I don’t want you to be scared when we start to rush away but we are being followed.”

Left for Revenge
Chapter 2- Slowly, Little Dove
Plot: Andy is a feared and respected mob boss who is not to be crossed. When he is, he seeks revenge. What he finds in the process is a girl to fall in love with which could spell trouble.
Warnings: Swearing, murder, mentions of rape, arson, violence, torture, language.
Tumblr media
            Slowly, the car pulled up the long drive and Andy motioned for Abigail to look out the window. Her jaw dropped at the sight of the house before her. In the twilight, Abigail saw a two-story stone mansion sat amid mature oak trees. To either side of the door lay a large open garden filled with roses, violets and flowers of assorted types in terraced beds. A balcony extended above the front door and a multitude of windows adorned the front of the home. A portico jutted out on the side of the house. At the edge of the drive was a large garage, open with other cars visible.
The car carrying the boss and his new guest pulled around the drive and into a gravel space in front of the main entry before coming to a stop. A driver opened the back door for Andy and Abigail. Andy climbed out but Abigail did not move.
            “Abigail, it’s time to go. Get out of the car.” Andy extended his hand to the woman before pulling her forward and to him.
            The brunette stuttered, “Where a-are we?”
            Andy, ignoring Abigail’s question, nodded to Shorty as they made their way to the door, “See to it that the alarms are fully set on the edge of the yard.”
            Shorty turned away with a quick, “Yes, Boss.” Then he was gone.
            Now Andy turned his attention to the woman at his side, “We’re at my home.”
            Abigail looked at Andy confused, “B-but I thought Razor Joe blew up your house…”
            Andy dropped his hand from Abigail’s waist, “He did. He blew up the house that I do most of my business out of. It was much smaller and, frankly, not as nice. This is my primary residence. Joe, or any other underbosses, couldn’t touch me here.”
            The door to the house opened and Abigail was awed by it. Just inside the front entrance were four pillars and a staircase. Straight ahead sat a sunken living area with a bar area to the side and a marble-looking fireplace. A balcony with an intricate iron banister overlooked the living room.
            Andy pulled the young woman to the staircase, “Come. I will show you where you will be sleeping.”
            As they ascended the stair, a photograph caught Abigail’s eye. It was of a young woman on a garden swing with a tiny boy on the woman’s lap. They were laughing. Before she could inquire as to who the pair were, Andy shook his head, “Leave it alone.”
            On the balcony, a long hall extended to the left or to the right. Andy led Abigail to the right, “There are three bedrooms down this hall. You are to be given one of the three bedrooms and when you start to sleep there, you are not to enter the other two. Do you understand?”
            Abigail nodded mutely as Andy opened the second door to the right and waved her in, “This will be your bedroom. It is the largest of the guest rooms and you will be comfortable here during your stay.”
            The young woman’s mouth dropped open. Inside the door was a sitting area with a large window and comfortable-looking couches in front of a large stone hearth that passed all the way through the chimney and was open to both the bedroom and the sitting area.  It was the largest fireplace she’d ever seen, wide enough she could’ve laid down inside without her head or feet touching the sides.  The fire within looked tiny by comparison, even though it was built of logs thicker than her waist.
On the other side of the fireplace was the bedroom. A king-size bed sat against the wall and very near a picture window. Opposite the window were two doors, one leading into a luxurious bathroom and the other into a large walk-in closet with racks and shelves on both sides and a counter and seating in the middle. All of the racks and shelves were filled with bags and clothes.
            Andy sniffed, “The clothes should be your size. If not, let me know. Take a shower, get some rest. I will come get you for dinner.”
            With that, he exited the room.
~~~
            A knock on the door shook Abigail out of her reverie, “Yes?”
            The door opened and a handsome man stood on the other side. Abigail recognized him from the previous two days as the one called Shorty. His brown eyes captured her green ones and he addressed her, “Boss sent me up to get you for dinner.”
            Ducking her head, Abigail followed Shorty out of the room. They walked quietly for a moment then Shorty turned to the girl, “My name is Jackson Saracco. Everyone calls me Shorty. I am the left hand of the Viper.”
            Abigail kept her eyes down and her voice soft, “I thought that Mr. Barber was going to come get me for dinner.”
            Shorty responded, “He will be joining you on the sun porch for dinner in a bit. He told me that you are free to begin eating. No need to wait on him.”
            “What about you?” Abigail asked as they reached the bottom of the stairs.
            The man beside her kept his eyes forward, “I will be leaving for the evening. I don’t live here. None of us do besides the boss.”
            They rounded the corner and Shorty opened a door. On the other side of the door was a glass covered sun room. Just in front of the glass sat a long table with eight chairs. A couch and small table with chairs sat to the side. Food was placed on the table with domes over them at two spots at the end of the table.
            Saracco turned away, “The boss will be in soon. Take care.”
            Suddenly, Abigail was alone.
~~~
         Three minutes later, the sunroom door opened and Andy stepped in, “Evening. I take you are enjoying the food.”
            Abigail nodded but said nothing as she ate the food before her, wolfing it down. Andy picked up his fork, “Slowly, Little Dove. You food isn’t going anywhere.”
            The girl stopped shoveling food into her mouth. The mob boss began eating while keeping eye contact, “No doubt you have questions. I am all ears.”
            “Ok. Let’s start with this. Why do you think Papa Sav was a mafia Don? He was just a nice old farmer. He had chickens! I played in his fields with the cows. He was a sweet old man, nothing like--” she stopped suddenly, fearing she may insult her host.
“Nothing like me,” Andy finished quietly, “So you really don’t know, huh?”
Abigail shook her head, “What are you talking about?”
“Savio Peretti was an old school Italian Don. His main business was black market gun running, drugs and illegal gambling.” Andy continued, “I know this because I am familiar with the old man’s work because I took over from him when he died and your father refused to have anything to do with this world. I am shocked you didn’t know. But then again, I am not surprised that he would want to protect you from that life. Or maybe it was your father who wanted to do the protecting. Either way, you now know that your grandfather was not as good as you thought.”
Abigail jumped to her feet angrily, “You’re lying. He was not a criminal. He was harmless. H-he took care of people. He said so himself. He helped people.”
Andy scoffed, “When your grandfather said he was ‘taking care’ of people,” Andy mimicked quotes with his fingers, “he did not mean it in a good way. He was helping people but he was helping them to their graves. ‘Taking care of’ means murdering in the mob world. Your grandfather was a murderer. Now, sit down and finish your food.”
Abigail ate the rest of her dinner in silence and avoiding eye contact with Andy. Once she was finished, the young woman murmured, “Can I go to my room?”
The Viper wiped his mouth a napkin and sniffed, “I’m done as well so I’ll walk up with you.”
Both rose from the table in the sunroom and began walking to the stairs. As they passed through the living room, the memories bombarded Amelia along with what her captor had just told her. Abigail began to sway and stumble. The gravity of the situation overwhelmed her and Abigail Peretti hit the floor.
~~~
            Something cool ran over Abigail’s forehead and she came to with a groan. “Shh, easy. You took a fall.” Andy cooed over her.
            She opened her eyes to find herself lying on a couch with the mobster sitting next to her  with a bowl of water and a cloth. Moaning again, Abigail tried to sit up, “What happened?”
            Andy dropped the cloth and steadied the young woman, “Slowly, Little Dove. You fainted. I have a doctor on the way to check you out but you need to lie back.”
            “Why do you keep calling me that? How do you know that nickname?” Abigail collapsed sideways onto the couch.
            “Because,” Andy adjusted the girl onto her back, “you are innocent and pure. Also, your grandfather used to call you that whenever he spoke to me about you.”
            Abigail’s mouth dropped open, “You knew about me?”
            The mobster smiled an affirmation, “Oh yes, I knew. What I did not know was your name or where you lived. That information was not freely given in order to protect you from rival families.”
            A knock on the door interrupted the conversation and caused Abigail to jump but Andy rose and crossed the room to the front entrance. He opened the door to find the doctor he had summoned standing on the other side. Andy ushered the doctor into the room, “She fainted about fourteen minutes ago and just regained consciousness. I thought you had checked her out thoroughly today.”
            The doctor nodded, “I did, but it’s possible I missed something.”
           Andy ground his teeth, “Make sure you don’t miss anything this time.”
He leaned in and whispered, “This one is special. Don’t make another mistake. You know what happens if you do. Don’t forget what happened to the last doctor who made too many mistakes.”
            With a silent gulp, the doctor turned his attention to Abigail and began checking her over. After a few minutes of questions and answers, the doctor rose and addressed both, “She has an iron deficiency that caused a drop in blood pressure. It also appears that her fainting may have been stress related. I will send over some iron capsules in the morning and I recommend that she rest up and eat iron-rich foods for a few days to get her levels up.”
            “I’ll make sure she rests.” With this, the Viper escorted the doctor out promising to pay him in the morning. He turned to the woman on the couch and crossed to her, “You heard what the doctor said. Now, let’s get you to bed.”
Left For Revenge
Plot: Andy is a feared and respected mob boss who is not to be crossed. When he is, he seeks revenge. What he finds in the process is a girl to fall in love with which could spell trouble.
Warnings: Violence, mentions of rape, murder, torture, language.
Prologue-
           Andy Barber crawled through the rubble of his living room and yelled out to his guards, “Answer if you hear me. Shorty.”
Shorty called back, “Here.”
Andy continued, “Hatchet.”
“Here, Boss.”
Then Andy called out, “Lou.”
No answer. He tried again, “Lou!”
Still nothing. Hands lifted the mob boss from the debris, and he looked up to find the Givans twins beside him. The man’s foot struck something solid as he began to make his way out of the smoking ruins of his home. Andy glanced down to find Lou at his feet.
           Grinding his teeth, Andy turned his attention to the men standing beside him, “I swear that I will get my revenge on the man who murdered Lou. For now, we just have to find him.”
            Shorty wiped dirt from his brow, “I think I may be able to help with that, Boss.”
            “Talk to me,” Andy pulled his arms out of the Givans’ twins’ grasps, “and tell me what sorry s.o.b. did this.”
            His right-hand man tilted up his chin and Shorty replied, “Lucky heard Joey Spadaro telling his boys that he wanted to knock out the Viper and take the crown as the Big Boss.”
            Andy wiped the blood from his split lip and spit on the ground, “I think it’s time we paid Razor Joe Spadaro a visit.”
Left For Revenge Sneak Peek
Here is a sneak peek for chapter 3. Enjoy!
“I TOLD you not to disturb me when I was having a meeting with my associates. I told you not to be seen. You deliberately disobeyed my instructions.” Andy roughly dragged Abigail by the arm toward her room, “I also told you there would be consequences if you didn’t follow my rules.”
He forced open the door and shoved her inside, “You will not be allowed to roam the house for a while. I will be bringing your food to you. Don’t try to climb out the window, it has alarms on it.”
Before Abigail could protest, Andy slammed the door behind him and locked it from the outside. Abigail pounded on the door, “Please let me out. I’m sorry! Please!”
Hearing no response, she sunk down the door and cried into her knees. She hadn’t meant to be seen by the other bosses. She had been hungry and was headed to the kitchen. As soon as she hit the bottom of the stairs, whistling, Andy was on top of her and he was angry. Now, she was stuck in this room for God knows how long.
Left For Revenge Chapter 4 Sneak Peek
Abigail was seated on the couch, reading, when Andy approached her with a bowl of popcorn and asked, “Want to watch a movie?”
She closed her book and smiled at him, “Sure. What were you thinking?”
“How about a comedy?”
The young woman smiled, “Okay. We can do that.”
Andy dropped onto the other end of the couch and put the popcorn between them. He then hit the power on the remote, “Do you want something more classic or something more modern?”
She smiled at him, “How about Some Like It Hot? That’s a great film.”
With a smirk, Andy cocked an eyebrow, “The one about the two musician on the run from evil mobsters?”
He let loose a low laugh, “You realize we aren’t actually like that, right? We aren’t all money grabbing murderers chasing people to kingdom come because they saw a hit.”
Abigail’s face fell and she looked down, “Oh, um, okay. Well, I-I guess I—”
Andy reached out and lifted her chin, “Hey, I was kidding. I like that movie. Some Like It Hot is my go to comedy movie. The portrayal of the mob is funny. Come on, get some popcorn and watch the movie with me.”
She reached out and grabbed some of the popcorn and shoved it in her mouth as the movie began to play. Bit by bit thy drifted closer on the couch and about midway through the film, both Abigail and Andy each reached a hand into the bowl. What felt like a shock of electricity passed through their fingers as they brushed. Immediately, both pulled their hands back.
“I’m sorry.” They both said at the same moment.
Andy smiled, “Here, you can have the last bit. There’s not much left.”
Abigail tucked her hair behind her ear, “Thank you.”
Their eyes locked for a fleeting moment and in that moment, Abigail took a chance. Leaning in, she pressed her lips to Andy’s. His eyes widened in surprise then fluttered closed and he began to return the gesture, tilting his head to the side to get a better response from her. Then his eyes shot open again and he pushed her back, “No! No, I can’t do this. We can’t. It’s too dangerous.”
Andy rose to his feet then he was gone.
Left for Revenge
Slowly Little Dove teaser
Warnings: Swearing, murder, mentions of rape, arson, violence, torture, language
Three minutes later, the sunroom door opened and Andy stepped in, “Evening. I take you are enjoying the food.”
            Abigail nodded but said nothing as she ate the food before her, wolfing it down. Andy picked up his fork, “Slowly, Little Dove. Your food isn’t going anywhere.”
            The girl stopped shoveling food into her mouth. The mob boss began eating while keeping eye contact, “No doubt you have questions. I am all ears.”
            “Ok. Let’s start with this. Why do you think Papa Sav was a mafia Don? He was just a nice old farmer. He had chickens! I played in his fields with the cows. He was a sweet old man, nothing like--” she stopped suddenly, fearing she may insult her host.
“Nothing like me,” Andy finished quietly, “So you really don’t know, huh?”
Abigail shook her head, “What are you talking about?”
“Savio Peretti was an old school Italian Don. His main business was black market gun running, drugs and illegal gambling.” Andy continued, “I know this because I am familiar with the old man’s work because I took over from him when he died and your father refused to have anything to do with this world. I am shocked you didn’t know. But then again, I am not surprised that he would want to protect you from that life. Or maybe it was your father who wanted to do the protecting. Either way, you now know that your grandfather was not as good as you thought.”
Abigail jumped to her feet angrily, “You’re lying. He was not a criminal. He was harmless. H-he took care of people. He said so himself. He helped people.”
Andy scoffed, “When your grandfather said he was ‘taking care’ of people,” Andy mimicked quotes with his fingers, “he did not mean it in a good way. He was helping people, but he was helping them to their graves. ‘Taking care of’ means murdering in the mob world. Your grandfather was a murderer. Now, sit down and finish your food.”
