Electronics repair can be the next sunrise sector - @lawyer2ca®️ India has the potential to become the repair capital of the world, thanks to the rising demand for electronic goods, increased digitization, and high cost of repairs in developed countries. Manufacturer’s Association of Information Technology (MAIT) indicates that the electronics repairs market can create over 5 million jobs and generate a revenue of $20 billion per annum. Since India’s electronic repair costs are exponentially lower (and high cost of repairs in developed countries), we should strive to build several ERSO (Electronic Repair Service Outsourcing) start-ups over the next few years. Enable TAT (Turn Around Time) to be as low as 5-6 days, the government should invest in much-needed infrastructure and cargo ports, besides developing the shipping infrastructure. Furthermore, the current custom processes must be streamlined to enable a smooth logistics channel/corridor. The government can look at facilitating the establishment of institutions like the ‘Repair Club of India’. A significant advantage of a repair-led economy is that it helps sustainable development and reduces e-waste. National Stock Exchange Of India Limited (NSE) to launch Social Stock Exchanges - @lawyer2ca - #nse has received the capital market regulator’s nod to launch social stock exchanges (#SSEs) as a new segment. The Social Stock Exchange segment will provide a new avenue for social enterprises to finance social initiatives, provide them visibility and bring in increased transparency in fund mobilization and utilization by social enterprises. - This approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) means that the bourse can now launch the new platform and sign-up relevant entities for listing. - SSEs are a fundraising platform specifically created for social enterprises so that they can tap into broader sources of donations. - The process of listing for SSEs works akin to normal initial public offerings (IPOs). However, instead of shares, the participants are allotted Zero Coupon Zero Principal (ZCZP) instruments. Also, in normal IPOs investors can sell their shares post-listing and make profits but ZCZPs don’t yield any returns.
