Today in the Department of Before They Were Star Trek Stars, DeForest Kelley guest stars in "Gun Duel," episode 12 of the fourth season of Laramie (original air date December 25, 1962). Kelley plays one of a trio of bank robbers who split up after their last job. The bagman is captured and sent to the Laramie jail after hiding the loot, and Kelley and the third man meet there to spring him or get the location of the stolen money from his girlfriend.
Sometimes you just have to make a life, from what life hands you.
This is Laramie 2.0. Originally, the boy character was Slim's younger brother Andy. Then Andy inexplicably disappeared.
Then Mike appearers in the cowboys life. As does an entirely new thematic approach, in season 3. Complete with a charming and dapper housekeeper named Daisy. Of course.
And even though Jess and Slim are a bonafide married couple by now. Jess still continues to cheat on Slim every time a studly, well built cowboy saddles up next to him at the bar.
Slim always takes him back though. Determined to keep the home fires burning. At all cost.
In a scene removed for unknown reasons from the STARZ collection, Jess Harper talks about the fate of the majority of the Harper family at the hands of the outlaw Banister when Jess was only 15.
A few scenes were removed from this episode, I'm assuming to create a more cohesive storyline that focused on Men of Defiance more than Laramie. I might post others if anyone is interested.
My grandma has shown me "Laramie". A spaghetti western, shot mostly in black and white. My conclusion about this show is that Jess and Slim are, in fact, gay as hell. They literally have a son.
Today in the Department of Before They Were Star Trek Stars, DeForest Kelley guest stars in "The Treasure," episode 16 of the sixth season of Have Gun, Will Travel (original air date December 29, 1962).
