Home from Work, Time to Light-Up a 120s Cigarette!

Lani, here, of Coherent Light Photography, commonly known as Colight, was not one of the stars for iconic web-master/web producer Ed Luisser, a leading pioneer of the SF genre from the mid-1990s. Those roles were handled with aplomb by blonde beauty Nadja (No. 18 on the "unofficial" official Top-25 all-time favorite SF models list published by vs120shound in January 2023) and popular sidekick Maddie, who formed a pre-eminent tandem in SF annals! And Lani was not in the next tier of frontrunners, like Holly, Shawna, Synthia, Megan, Ramona, Shana and Callie. Regardless of her popularity with Colight, there's one deal surrounding Lani, of which we are quite familiar -- Lani brought a rare kind of beauty on to each set. Call it exotic or distinctive, it in no way parallels the gorgeous natures of an Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor or Princess Grace Kellly. And if Lani is new to you, you can judge her attractiveness in each of these five clips for yourself. She brings some special qualities to her videos, primarily a versatility in appearance with different hair styles and clothing sending off different vibes!

. . . well, this Honorable Mention Division clip for our weekly Video of The Week feature (no, we have not been releasing them in a timely or consistent manner) boasts a Centerpiece video from a post on vs120shound on September 3, 2022. That post from 14 months ago collected 95 positive responses of likes/re-blogs. It was titled, HOME-FROM-WORK SMOKE! And our (sometimes) weekly feature still would be searching for some impactful content if not for the contributions from thelibrarian120. "The Librarian" had five posts of Lani released on November 25, 2023, and each fits so nicely into our tidy little package in support of our story about Lani. We decided to place each into our overarching story on her deal. And her deal shows quite a contrast in the three different looks she has going in the four videos from thelibrarian120. Varying flavors of her are put forward when she has a tank top with a pretty print going in two of the four videos from "The Librarian" and then another flavor from wearing a fancy hat and a vail in the other two clips, which elicits a contrasting feel from when she has the top with the high collar and much cleavage showing. She call pull off all of that. And some women simply cannot. They cannot stray from their one steadfast look that works them. Lani can look hot with any combinations of outfit top, outfit bottom (if not a dress), along with makeup, hairstyle, jewelry, footwear, accessories and outerwear.

The human embodiment of Sun Bleached Flies. Sweet sweet girl, was not built to survive Yellowjackets and deserved better.

Come season 2, everyone has their (genuinely awful) character that they will be defending to the death. She is mine. Do not come to me with Alicent slander; I will justify it.

Who else? Love absolutely everything about her. I’m dreading Season 2, but in my mind she’s away from King’s Landing, happy and safe with her babies. She is The Character.

The iconic and ever so recognizable style of Yuji Uekawa will always appeal to me. Doesn't matter which character it is or what they're doing, there's always a charm to it. I'll always love his work on the series.

On that note, it annoys me how a growing number of people have said that Uekawa's style is boring just because Sonic doesn't twist his limbs like they're jelly anymore. Or because he bothers to draw the characters with some dignity instead of giving them one "I just shat myself, and I liked it" face after another, as per the current standard with Yardley, Stanley and ABT.

Well I don't mean to be biased but... *motions towards my friends' fics*

Outside of them... look, there are good ones out there, make no mistake, but it's been such an awfully long time since I've seen a good one outside of my friends' circle that it's partly what inspired me to pull a Thanos and go "Fine, I'll do it myself" in the first place. Because life is suffering when you're an Eggman fan who cares about whether Eggman is acting like Eggman and doing things that Eggman would be expected to do if he were truly Eggman.

Well let me talk about Noelani

You see the girl in green?

Her motif was intended to mirror her birthplace, Emerald Coast

Wow look at all of that WATER

In earlier designs she had this mystical vibe. Flowy skirts, jewellery, pearls and shells she collected herself.

As months went by I redesigned her again to symbolize the 2000s. Coconut/Surfer girl being the big factor.

Lani's "casual" outfit is a clear nod to the iconic JC tracksuit

Her shoes are lava pink to complement her tracksuit and to fit the "red shoes" dynamic set by Sonic/Tails/Knuckles/Amy. While she wears different outfits there are still elements like small "tear-like" jewellery, blue-greens.

Another note Lani has a palette made up of mostly secondary colors - often reserved for villains - but she is very much a hero. A direct contrast to Dr. Eggman, who wears primary colors but is the main bad guy.

My apologies you’ve probably been asked this many times already. What’s your view point about Hellena Taylor asking people to boycott the new Bayonetta game? Do you think consumers will listen to her or do you think people will buy the game regardless? How do you think her employers and the investors will take this news of her speaking out?

Two things to preface this with, for transparency:

I have no real interest Bayonetta or related properties, and wasn’t buying Bayonetta 3 regardless of the boycotting thing. So I don’t have a dog in this fight either way.

I don’t know shit about voice acting and actual VA pay rates. I just know people like Troy Baker are exceptions and not the rule, and that anime dub and video game actors seem to get fucked over the most frequently — esp. since copies of games sold don’t seem to grant royalties like other media does. So I’m assuming $4,000 USD is absurdly, ludicrously low for a title like Bayo unless someone gives me a point of reference.

That being said I think Hellena Taylor is completely within her right to say what she said and ask for a boycott. I don’t know how to effective it’ll be given that both Twitter and gaming in general is inherently full of brainlets that will miss the point entirely and/or create discourse that is tangentially related at best, but I totally think she’s in the right for speaking up and I’m tired of voice actors being mistreated. I think it’s fucking insane that Chris Pratt can barely quarter ass an iconic video game character and get paid millions because he’s a “celebrity”, but professional voice actors more often than not get peanuts in comparison. And way more mistreatment to boot.

I don’t know if VA’s are represented by agencies (like, say, models or something) or anything like that, so I have no idea how an employer like that would react in this situation. Assuming she’s being fully honest, I don’t see how this would affect her getting future jobs. But I know voice actors get fucked over a lot and that the industry as a whole is frequently very dodgy, so idk.

As for investors…. Idk. Nintendo is backing Bayonetta to keep it as an exclusive or whatever, sure, but Platinum Games as a whole has been kind of a financial disaster in recent years. So I don’t know if/how this will affect PG itself or any investors. Keep in mind, though, that PG is also dealing with the commercial disaster that was Babylon’s Fall with Square Enix as well, so I can’t imagine current/potential investors are particularly enthused in regards to giving them money right now.

What I find confusing about this is like… if you were only going to pay the original actress $4,000, why the fuck would you then go and hire Jennifer Hale? To my knowledge, Hale is far more famous and has a shitload of characters under her belt. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’d assume Hale would be way more of an expense than Taylor.

However, all that being said, I completely disagree with the point Hellena Taylor made in her third (I think?) video. If they brought Jennifer Hale onto the project as the new voice, then Jennifer absolutely has the right to call herself Bayonetta’s current voice actor and add that to her credits list even if she isn’t the original actress and didn’t create the voice. She is absolutely allowed to sign merch and attend cons and whatever else representing that role. That’s what a fucking ‘portrayal’ of a character is — it’s really ignorant to think otherwise and pretty gross to potentially send hate in the direction of a colleague.

Like. I hate that Kiefer Sutherland replaced David Hayter in what will most likely the last Kojima-lead Metal Gear game. I hate that Lani Minella got replaced as Nancy Drew by a relative newcomer after 30+ games since 1998. But to say that Kiefer Sutherland and Brittany Cox essentially shouldn’t take credit for their work because they didn’t create the character/voice for the character from the start is really fucking dumb. Being the original isn’t necessarily the be-all and end-all portrayal of a character, either — just look at Dante from DMC. The third voice actor is considered the definitive one in that case.
