Securing Lagos State and Lagosians is topmost
Securing Lagos State and Lagosians is topmost
By Dr Yemi Omodele It’s no longer news that every Nigerian has one or more relations residing in Lagos State either on a private business or being employed. Virtually all countries of the world also have their citizens in Lagos based on international relations, naturalization, tourism, expatriate and/or employment purposes. Lagos State is a former Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria and a city…

black paper
schreiben in dunkler zeit
essays von teju cole
erschienen 2023
bei Clanen
isbn: 978-3-546-10064-9

By • Olalekan Fagbade BREAKING: Governor Sanwo-Olu breaks silence on Lagos’ spending, Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has defended his administration’s procurement record released by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (LSPPA). It will be recalled that since LSPPA released the procurement records of the Sanwo-Olu's administration in the state, the governor has come under serious criticisms from many Nigerians on social media. But despite the criticisms, the governor said the State will continue to publish its spending and keep it open for public scrutiny. Speaking at the Commissioning of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) Building, PWD Ikeja, recently, the governor assured that his administration would continue to deliver impactful governance to the state and will also not be critical of public scrutiny in its bid to improve the state. He said: “We are committed, responsible and transparent. We don’t have a problem with anybody, or any individual. We acknowledge that these are ways we should be doing things. “We appreciate criticism. We appreciate the fact that people can look at us in the face that we need to do well in the state. “So we don’t have a problem with the originator of an open letter. In fac,t we like it and we want to thank him, and that’s to say that indeed, to be a government that’s firm and responsible, we should not shy away from criticism. “But it is only when criticism is malicious, unintended and it is to misrepresent the truth and that’s where there’s a problem. “Some officers in Lagos have all come out to say that indeed we can make mistakes on some lines of items. I heard of a particular one that an item was meant to be N2M but it was written as N2bn. “For me, I’m leading a team of very dedicated public officials; I’m leading a team of committed civil servants. I’m leading a team of self-motivated public officials who want to stand and say that they can be well recognised. “All we want to do is to serve the people of Lagos, and serve the state with every iota of strength and commitment we have, and believing Lagosians can truly see the benefit of our service. “I just want to make this point, and put it to rest. The website will continue to work. We’ll put all our numbers there and we’ll continue to pride ourselves at all times that indeed we can make mistakes but it is not any intention for us to be unmindful of what public goods are, and to ensure that public goods is what will continue to be respected.”

Sanwo-Olu commissions Oyingbo bridge, promises more projects
Tumblr media
Sanwo-Olu commissions Oyingbo bridge, and promises more projects. The Oyingbo Bridge was officially opened on Sunday by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State. This was announced by Sanwo-Olu on X, formerly Twitter. The Oyingbo Bridge's commissioning today marks a critical milestone in the development and launch of the Red Line Rail project, the author said. I would want to express my gratitude to H.E. Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti state, for joining me at the commissioning today."Not only does the Oyingbo Bridge improve traffic flow, but it also enhances safety by separating vehicular/pedestrian traffic from rail traffic, reducing accidents at the railway." This bridge connects Murtala Muhammed Way to Apapa Road, providing access to Costain, Iganmu Industrial Area, Lagos Badagry Expressway, Herbert Macaulay Way, Third Mainland Bridge, Otto, Carter Bridge, and Ijora. The governor also gave locals the assurance that His administration claims that the projects it has launched are only the beginning and is committed to keeping the state progressing. "A surge of finished projects and initiatives that demonstrate our dedication to enhancing the lives of Lagosians will be unveiled in the last two months of the year," he pledged.
