Now on to something entirely too personal. HBO, please hire black women to do black hair. Like the Bailey sisters have been on this earth long enough for you not to hate crime Rhaena and Laenor. Baela and Laena suffer from the white mom with mixed daughters' agenda. Corlys has his buss down, side part, lace front but it sits that way because Steve, the actor, is bald. There isn't a clear part in sight for the richest house in Westeros. I don't understand why the Velaryons have ash-gray roots. With Addam, Alyn, and Nettles dawning on us soon please do better. Some thoughts for your labour ahead.
Utilize the Bailey sisters and their contributions to styled locs for Rhaena’s sake.
Tumblr media
2. Cut Baela’s hair. For her sake focus on braids and beads.
Tumblr media
3. Allow her to usher in a wave for the girls with her appearance. Nettles would gag them.
Tumblr media
4. Our last girl. The Princess Dianna of Westeros. Lady Laena deserved better while with us. Walk with me.
Tumblr media
5. In a bigger step towards the right direction and with the pride black people have when it comes to hair, why would we not style the men's locs. Corlys will guide us.
Tumblr media
6. Laenor sweetie I'm so sorry for the helmet wig they gave you.
Tumblr media
7/8. The Of Hull boys will bring us hope and prosperity. Marilda won't have them looking messy on the Hull shores.
Tumblr media
All in all, I hope the stylists use their time off to hire black people. Entire stories could've been told with Laena, Rhaena, and Baela’s hair on the show, same with Corlys and Laenor but instead, we went with inspired choices that fell flat with the execution. Locs are some of the most versatile styles and curls are stunning. Hair, especially textured hair care and styling is a labor of love and I hope it's shown in upcoming seasons.

Chapter Nine: Vhagar Description: Saera Targaryen was her father's forgotten daughter. Years following her marriage with Ser Harwin Strong, she catches him in an affair with her sister and seeks solace in the arms of her uncle. Not realizing that the consequence of their affair is just as dire as her sister's.

SAERA REACHES FOR BAELA'S HANDS, ignoring Alicent's prying gaze. She glances at Daemon and offers his daughter a kind smile, "Why did you hurt Aemond?" she asked softly as she maintains eye contact with the child.
Losing a mother was a scar that cut deep, but losing her mother's dragon only mere moments after her death pained more. Baela looks down, but keeps her hands rested on Saera's hands.
"Vhagar was Rhaena or Daegon's to claim." she muttered with spite as she glares lightly at her cousin. The little boy was a proud man, he often reminded Saera of Daemon. But right now he was being a little cunt, who didn't deserve Visenya's dragon.
Her lips curl lightly, as she leans closer. She reaches for Rhaena's hands, and offers the same kind smile. "A dragon is not an inheritance," she begins as she glances at Aemond.
She sees nothing special in him, but Vhagar did.
She places a hand on Rhaena's head and gently combs it with her fingers. "You will have a dragon in the future, you and Daegon will — perhaps they will be smaller or bigger than Vhagar. But that doesn't mean that they are any weaker." she explains as both of them look down.
"I'm sorry," Baela mutters as she leans in for a hug. "We are dragons — you both bare the same blood as Daegon and Alyssa. You must always stick with each other." she commands as she presses a kiss on both of their heads. "We promise," Rhaena smiles.
ALICENT GRABS A DAGGER AND POINTS IT AT RHAENYRA. "You've gone too far," Rhaenyra beseeches as she aims her dagger at the woman. "I have gone to far? When I have done nothing but what was expected of me? Forever upholding the kingdom, the family, the law, while you parade and do as you please." she spat as the Kingsguard attempt to free the Princess.
Daemon leans back and enjoys the sight. Watching as Harwin goes under a state of frenzy, trying to locate all of his strong sons. "Where is duty? Where is sacrifice? Is it trampled underneath your pretty shoe?" she yells as her eyes turned sharply at Rhaenyra's sons.
The Dragon Princess chuckles, "Exhausting wasn't it? Hiding under the cloak of your own self-righteousness." she replied curtly as Alicent slides her dagger down the Princess' forearm, allowing blood to seap through her skin.
A gasp erupts from the room as numerous knights watched their Queen injure their Princess. "But now they see you, as you are." she finished while one of the guards pull Alicent back.
Alicent turns sharply towards Saera, as the guards pull her away. "And you are not any better! They both scheme and lie behind your back, heed my warning now. Duty will bring you nowhere. What is duty if you cannot avenge your own son?" she screams as Criston holds her back.
The dagger clinking as it falls unto the ground. Saera casts her worried glance unto Daemon, who began walking towards them.
Alicent had made a fool of herself in an effort to atone for her son. But at the same time, she was able to tell everyone that Rhaenyra's children were bastards, and that was more than enough for Daemon.
Years ago, it had been rumors. But with the Queen yelling it from the top of her lungs, it was just as good as the truth.
There was no use for bloodshed, or sabotaging his niece. For the seeds of doubt have been planted, and no one could stop it from sprouting.
He hides a smile and places a hand on his daughter's shoulders. Laena's body had not been found, although hope dims in his heart.
"You should both retire for the night." he ordered with a soft grin, and both his daughters nod seemingly tired from all of their cousin's shenanigans. "Mother?" Rhaena asks as he presses a kiss on her forehead.
"We'll know tomorrow," he confirmed as he nods at their septa, signaling for them to be sent away.
He walks towards Saera and sits beside her, watching as she stared at Harwin who was talking to Lucerys. "They know, tis' no use in hiding now." he remarked as he stared at Saera's husband.
"It brings me more shame than any of them." she grumbles lightly as she fumbled with her necklace. "It shouldn't," he comforted as they gently sat beneath the fire.
She bites her lip, "Everyone at court knows about them, but no one bothers telling me." she chuckles and watches as her father's advisors desperately scramble off and attempt to get ahold of the situation.
She pauses and decides to change the topic.
"Laena's dead, that's the only reason Aemond was able to claim Vhagar." she breathed out and he nods. There wasn't any love between him and his wife, but there was a mutual understanding.
Laena knew about his affair with Saera, but didn't wish on telling anyone about it. For he had his lover, and she had his freedom. And both of them were content.
"In spite of her death, I find a silver lining." he whispers as she side-eyes him, pondering about what crazy idea he had now. "What silver-lining?" she questioned and he smirks, his eyes now twinkling with a brand new plan.
"Take my hand in marriage. I'll wed you in the sights of our gods." he offered as he reaches for her face. "Be my wife, bear more of my children. If it is revenge that you seek, I shall be your loyal servant." he whispers as the crowds behind them began to draw out.
He couldn't see anything else now. His eyes were drunk on nothing but her features. "I have a husband," she declines and he shrugs. "Have two. If they force the first one unto you, then you must force the second one unto them." he demanded as his fists remained clenched.
He didn't want to be a second-husband, but he knew that he wouldn't be second best. "Damn him, and damn the gods. My blood flows for you." he whispered as if he didn't wish to draw any attention towards them both.
His hands trail off to her lips, and his eyes dart back unto her. "Dignify me this one time, and I shall give to you the world." he promised as she rests her hands in his forearms.
They both had Valyrian bearings, and the laws of Westeros did not apply to them. She could take two husbands, and love only one.

Note
i hate what they did to laena on the show. not only has her importance to daemon been reduced to "second best" but also her death was unnecessarily brutal and i hated it from the first time i saw it. after all, at least in the book, laena tried to do what she loved one last time: fly and daemon really seemed to care about her and grieve for her death.
I have a feeling they wanted to make laena su*cide look like "death of a dragonrider" and her agenda, for rhaenyra to look badass when sunfyre burn and eat her. the small part she had seems to exist only to enhance rhaenyra. Hotd isn't even in season 2 yet and it already makes me angry, Got at least took 6 seasons for me to realize the mistakes..
👆🏽The last paragraph is why they really did it. No one in their right mind thinks committing suicide by dragon fire(how many suicides do you see where someone is lighting themselves on fire) is empowering. It’s something a desperate woman who’s out of her mind would do. Even the actress who played older Laena (Nanna Blondell) originally questioned why Sara Hess put that in there(there’s an hour-long podcast on YouTube where she talks about her role as Laena).
They reworked Laena’s story just to make Queenie’s death look better in the end. And the thing about it is it’s still a wasted effort because Rhaenyra doesn’t voluntarily kill herself.
She literally is on the run with no money(she has to sell her jewels/crown), no powerful friends who will come to her aid(cause she locked Corlys up and went after Nettles so Daemon left her a**), and no dragon(cause the small folk she didn’t think were a threat where actually a threat).
She’s going back to Dragonstone thinking it’s a safe place and she can regroup there, but her home has been overtaken by the enemy. She’s lost everything and then she loses her life at the hands of her crippled brother and his crippled dragon🤣
I’m only laughing cause her stans really think she’s a bad b*tch when she’s not. She’s a broke b*tch(in spirit and in “reality”).
This isn’t dying like a “dragon rider”(the concept doesn’t exist in book canon since her dumba** fans love pointing to the books which never support their delusional arguments by the way) this is dying like the flop she:
Tumblr media
(I do feel sorry that little Aegon had to witness that, but even her last boy did nothing to immortalize his mother’s memory. Queenie flopped hard🤷🏽‍♀️)
At this point, I’ve been counting the first season as a trial run. I’ve seen some shows that had a meh first season(only the second half of HOTD was really terrible to me) but turned around to have decent other seasons. However, the fact that they cut the number of episodes plus the striking situation and the fact that they didn’t fully clean house with the showrunner shake up 😬
Laena was unfortunately a victim of sh*tty biased writing, but there’s always hope that her girls get the storylines they deserve.

Keep Me in Your Thoughts (57)
Tumblr media
Rhaelle haven't been to dragonstone in years, the last time she was there was when viserys invited her and her family to celebrate helaena's fifth nameday. A week long celebration ended up being a three day stay after daemon got into a argument with viserys, daemon wouldn't tell rhaelle or laena what it was about so they ended up not bringing it up again.
Rhaelle held gaemon and gaela's hand while baby daena slept soundly in the baby wrap carrier on her chest, they walk behind as daemon walk ahead with their other children. Before coming here rhaelle had to tell maekar and baelon that they had to apologize to rhaenyra and her sons for the words they said in the tunnels weeks ago, they werent happy about it but rhaelle didn't want any sensation between the children and beside jacerys and lucerys didn't deserve to be call such words, they are actually sweet children. But, their mother on they other hand is a different story, she is how old and still acting like she is in her younger years.
"Mama..." rhaelle was pull out her thought by gaela making her look down at her daughter in question as they stop in the chamber of the painted table, "....I don't like it here, it's scary." Gaela said glancing around the room uncomforable making Rhaelle frown and look around the room too, yes the place is a bit gloomy especially with the dark colors and the odd paintings on the wall.
"I know darling but all it needs is a bit of sunshine and a touch of love, and it will be like living in pentos again." Gaela look over at her brother, gaemon, who was burying in his face in rhaelle's side not liking the scary dragon paintings around.
"Okay, mama." Gaela said softly making rhaelle give a small smile as her hand rub gaela's back before she pull the girl close to her.
As daemon left to summon the servants to get their things, rhaenyra and her children walk in the chamber of the painted table.
"Princess Rhaelle." Rhaenyra acknowledged softly with her hand clasp together and front of her, she look over at her younger cousins, "Princesses and princes." She greeted with a head bow, rhaelle's children look back at her with blank looks while aemon gave a small smile and greeted her back.
"Princess Rhaenyra," rhaelle said monotone before looking at her nephews and neice, "Hello, prince jacerys, lucerys, and princess jaenara." Jacerys and lucerys greeted rhaelle back but jaenara stayed quiet as she stood by her mother.
"Where is our husband, princess." Rhaenyra ask as her eyes glancing around the room before coming closer making rhaelle look her up and down.
"I believe to summon the servants." Rhaenyra hmm with a nod before the room was filled with silence, rhaelle look over at vaelon and maekar to see them looking at the table with aemon in awe.
"Maekar. Baelon." The three boys look over at their mother as they take a step back from the table, "Do you have something you would like to say to your cousins." The boys scowl softly at their mother who raised a brow at them as she gave them a hard look.
Maekar sigh as he walk from the table to stand a few feet away from rhaenyra and her children with baelon following behind.
"Luke. Jace. I'm sorry." Maekar said as he look at his younger cousins before looking at rhaenyra, "I am sorry to you too, princess rhaenyra." Rhaenyra nod her head.
"Your apology is accepted, young prince." Rhaenyra says as jace and luke nod in agreement of their mother, maekar elbow baelon making the toung boy huff with a eyeroll.
"I'm sorry too." He said montone as he stare at rhaenyra blankly, rhaenyra narrow her eyes at the young boy before rethinking and giving him a small smile.
"Thank you, young princes." Rhaenyra look at rhaelle as if waiting for her to say something, rhaelle quirk a brow at the princess making her look away from her, she should knew better to think that rhaelle was going to apologize for hitting her.
Daemon walked in the room with several servants behind him, they went over to their things as daemon came up to rhaelle passing rhaenyra.
"Your rooms in the Sea Dragon Tower are already setup, after dinner I'll show the children to their rooms and you to mines." He said low as his hand went to rest on rhaelle's hip.
"Sounds good, my love." Rhaelle smile at her husband who smile back at her before kissing her cheek, daemon pull back to face the rest of their family.
"Come along, everyone. Dinner is ready." Gaela walk to her father and tug on his robes making him look down at her as she held up her arms asking him to pick her up, daemon gave a smile and bend picking up their daughter.
Rhaelle smile at daemon putting in the effort in trying to form an relationship with gaela, gaemon tug on rhaelle's hand making her chuckle as her son pull her along to follow his father and siblings.
Dinner was silent and tensed. No one said a word as they all ate in silence, not even rhaelle and daemon, they sensed the tension and thought since it was the first day there it was going to be a bit awkward so they didn't want to get the children to talk to one another. So, after dinner, daemon showed the children where they will be staying before daemon brought rhaelle to his chamber.
As they get ready for bed, rhaelle and daemon talked about dinner.
"I can't say I didn't expect it." Daemon said mentioning the quiet dinner.
"Me either." Rhaelle replied tired as she got under the covers, "I just hope in time they will get along again." Daemon blew out the candles and  crawl into bed next to rhaelle.
"They will. They are children after all, and the strong boys do not hold grudges." Rhaelle glare at daemon in the dark for referring to jacerys and lucerys as "strong boys", "Goodnight, my love." Daemon kiss his wife on the cheek before he laid on his back, rhaelle stayed laid up against the bed thinking.
"Goodnight," she whispered back.
She wanted the children to get along, especially since they were going ro be living together for here on out. The idea of staying at Driftmark castle while rhaenyra and her children stay at dragonstone cross her mind, but she didn't want daemon to spend all his time with her not when he must also do his duties as a father not rhaenyra's children now that they loss their father. She had to remember to discuss being a father figure for rhaenyra's children especially to jacerys since he needs a man to show him how to be a good leader once he is older, she also has to work on rebuilding some ground between her and rhaenyra.
She knows if the children see rhaenyra and rhaelle acting bitter to one another, the children will think it's okay to do it to one another and rhaelle can't make that happen. So, she has to swallow her pride and try to make it work with rhaenyra, for the sake of the children.
Rhaelle was on the couch reading a book in the great chamber, it was dark only the fireplace composing light for her to read. Daemon was with the boys training them, while the others were scattered around the castle. Daena was taking her afternoon nap, gaemon and gaela were in their rooms with their handmaid drawing, alys was outside with baela watching the boys train, and rhaena and alyssa were gone visiting their grandmother. She had no idea where jaenara was (probably with her mother) rhaelle has been trying not to think too much about the young velaryon girl, she doesn't know how but she sense Alys doesn't like jaenara anymore and she fears it because of what rhaenyra said that night.
"Yes, my daughter. Mine. Not yours." Rhaenys look rhaelle up and down with sneer, "No matter how much you want her to be she is not your daughter..."
Rhaelle took in a deep breathe before exhaling at the memory, she never felt so embarrassed or ashamed. Her children had to hear rhaenyra say that, alys had to hear that, the little girl has been acting very cold towards rhaelle for the pass few days. It seems every time she sees rhaelle interacting with jaenara, the girl begins to get into a bad mood and take it out on jaenara.
Rhaelle tried to talk to alys about her behavior towards jaenara, but once jaenara's name leaves rhaelle's mouth. The young girl burst into tears and cries until rhaelle comforts her and gets her to calm down, once calm rhaelle would forget the subject and take alys for a walk along the shoreline. Alys have also taken to clinging to rhaelle's side, she haven't seen her daughter like this since rhaelle had to give all her attention to baelon when he fall badly ill. She thinks her daughter might have a problem with sharing her mother, rhaelle was not use to having a child who was so possessive over her.
The only person she knew who was like that was daemon, and usually it didn't end well with his contant hovering and lack of consideration.
The doors to the great chamber was open making rhaelle's squint her eyes as she look at the door that brought in so much light, a female servant walk in with her hands clasp in front of her with a concern look.
"M'lady. You are needed in the chamber of the painted table." Rhaelle frown before she put her book aside for later, as the servant turn on her feet and guided rhaelle to the familiar chamber.
After three full moons, rhaelle didn't need her cane anymore now that her broken hip was finally healed, she still felt a dull pain in her left hip but she was happy that she didn't have to carry around her cane anymore. It made her feel old.
Rhaelle walked into the room to find Daemon staring down at baelon who had his arms cross over his face and a scowl on his young face along with a busted lip, while rhaenyra was standing next to jacerys who also had a scowl on his face along with a bruise on his cheek.
"What did you do." Rhaelle ask knowingly it was her son who started it as she walk up to her son, baelon didn't look at her as he kept scowling the ground, daemon smack baelon in the back of his head.
"Your mother ask you a question, baelon." Daemon hiss making rhaelle give daemon a look before looking at her son who finally glance up at his mother before looking away.
"It...was a misunderstanding, mother." Rhaelle furrow her brows and look over at jacerys and rhaenyra.
"A misunderstanding, huh? If it was a misunderstanding than you can explain why your cousin has a bruise cheek and you a busted lip." Rhaelle cross her arms and look at her child, baelon let out a low groan making rhaelle narrow her eyes at him.
"It was nothing." He stated under his breathe making rhaelle sigh and rub her eyes.
"Baelon. What happened....and the truth, please." Baelon huff and look at his mother.
"He...went into my chamber without asking, and took something that belong to me." Daemon and rhaelle shared a look, they didn't believe what their son said was true, "You don't believe me?" They look back at their son.
"What did he take from you?" Daemon ask, baelon swallow taking a moment before answering.
"My...My sword. My wooden sword that you made me, he took it." Daemon narrow his eyes at his son still not convinced.
"You hurt my son over a toy sword." Rhaenyra said angry, the two parents and the child ignore rhaenyra.
"Baelon, we use our words not our fist, you should have came to your father or me to tell us before taking things into your own hands." Rhaelle said sternly, "You will apologize and return to your chamber and stay there until dinner is ready." A flicker of relief pass through baelon's lavender eyes before he look away making rhaelle furrow her brows at her son's odd reaction to his punishment.
"Okay, mother." Rhaelle watch as baelon turn to jacerys to apologize, jacerys gave a nod forgiving baelon.
"I'll escort baelon to his chamber, and jacerys to hiss lesson." Daemon told rhaelle making her turn to him, he kiss her cheek making her give him a small smile, "See you at dinner, my belove." Daemon smile at his wife before he look at baelon who march ahead of his father toward the door with jacerys close behind, daemon gave rhaelle one more smile before following after the children.
Rhaenyra watch as her husbsnd completely ignore her as he stalk pass her to catch up with thr boys, rhaelle could see the defeat in rhaenyra's shoulder and sadness on her face. When rhaenyra sense someone watching her she turn her eyes to look at rhaelle, the older princess looks away from her second wife to the table, her finders drag along the carvings as she thinks.
"He really loves you." Rhaelle lifted her head up quickly taken back as she looks at rhaenyra.
"I'm sorry?" Rhaelle thinking about baelon so she didn't properly listen to what rhaenyra said, rhaenyra walks towards the table.
"When I was younger I...never believe my uncle could ever love anyone but himself," rhaenyra stood to parallel to rhaelle, "It was who he was, he was the rogue prince, the heathen who took what he wanted no matter the consequences and damn to all he hurt, but yet you changed him." Rhaelle glance away from rhaenyra.
"I didn't change him, he changed himself."
"Yes, but for you, he made himself better for you." Rhaelle look back at rhaenyra, "But, what I can't understand is why you, your not special, he knows that you shared a child with my father and otto, but yet he still wants to be with you. Why is that?" Rhaelle stare at rhaenyra in disbelief, the woman who is suppose to be their future queen could not for the life of her stop being a bitch towards rhaelle.
"Must you always be a cunt, rhaenyra." Rhaenyra shrug her shoulders unfaze.
"I'm just asking a question." Rhaelle gave the young woman an eyeroll.
"No, your looking for a fight and I won't give it to you."
"I just want to know what it is about you that makes daemon act like a bastard towards me,"
"Did you ever think maybe it's because your such a horrible woman towards his wife." It was rhaenyra turn to give a eyeroll inconceivable at the thought, "I'm being serious maybe try being a little nicer to me and maybe daemon won't treat you like a nuisance."
"Why should I be nice to you, when all you ever done is be unkind to me." Rhaelle let out an unbelievable scoff.
"Let's be honest, rhaenyra. All I ever done to you is give your father a son and married daemon, it is you who is the problem and it is you who will continue to push daemon further away." Rhaelle watch as rhaenyra's jaw slant before she right herself and look away.
"It's not fair." She muttered but rhaelle heard her.
"What's not fair, rhaenyra. That I get daemon and you don't."
"No." Rhaenyra look back at rhaelle with misty eyes, "You still have someone who loves you while I am here left with no one," rhaelle frown at the young woman, rhaenyra cast her eyes down, "I thought I could use daemon to fill the hole in my heart with sex, if it keeps me from thinking about my own loneliness and fallen love." Rhaelle looks at rhaenyra with a hint of pity, she couldn't imagine how devastating rhaenyra was when she heard about ser strong.
"You could always take another...as your own." Rhaelle suggest.
"Too risky. It's hard to find someone to trust these days," rhaenyra sighs, "And I don't know what's worse having a husband who won't consummate his marriage with me or always being worried that my love would betrayal me and my children."
Rhaelle was taken by surpise by rhaenyra's confession, she never knew that daemon didn't consummate his marriage, in all honesty, she didn't want to think about it. But, now hearing that rhaenyra couldn't get daemon to even consummate their marriage made her smile a little.
"I'm happy my pain can bring you some sick joy," rhaelle blinks as she focus on rhaenyra who wipe at her eye with her hand making rhaelle purse her lips.
"I wasn't...forget it, look rhaenyra." Rhaelle started making rhaenyra look at her, "If fucking daemon gets you to be a bit nicer around my children and bearable, I'll talk to daemon about visiting your chamber tonight." Rhaenyra furrow her brows as she look at rhaelle unsure and confuse.
"You...will so that...for me?" She ask making rhaelle nod.
"No, I'm doing it for my sake, and besides woman have needs. I for one can understand that, but if I do this we must come to an agreement." Rhaenyra look at rhaelle curiously.
"What sort of agreement." She ask.
"It have come to my understanding that our children do as we do, they see us arguing or fighting, it will make them argue and fight. I propose that we put our differences aside and be kinder to one another and help each other out."
"And in return, daemon visits my chamber every night before he comes to see you." Rhaelle laugh looking away from the spoiled princess.
"That's if he agrees to this and even if he does, you will be either seeing my husband after me or two times a week not every night." Rhaenyra poke her cheek with her tongue in thought, "Or another alternative." Rhaenyra quirk her brow at rhaelle, "If you want daemon every night you will have to share him with me in our chamber." Rhaelle said with smirk as she watch rhaenyra look at her with wide eyes in disbelief, she knows that rhaenyra will never go for that so...
"I'll rather see fortnightly." Rhaelle hmms in victory.
"I knew you chose the right choice." Rhaenyra watch rhaelle with a sour look as the woman once called queen turns her back to her to walk away, "I'll be in the garden if you need me." Rhaelle said over shoulder before walking out of the chamber.

warnings: incest, swearing, mentions of death, mention of war, tell me if i missed anything!!
Chapter Twenty Two- The Queen
—-
Daemon Targaryen admits he is not a good man.
He thinks back to the Crabfeeder war fondly, the simplicity of battle. Reaction and reaction. Get them before they get you. Kill, kill, kill.
He was raised on it, on that bloodlust, that power.
He craves military conquest because he craves attention. He is a second son. He won’t get that anywhere else.
But Daemon Targaryen must admit, having two woman draped over him is far better than any battle.
He could talk for hours about the way his girls are made for him, the way they fit around him so nicely, fold into him so perfectly, give him the love and attention he knows he does not deserve.
But he needs it, craves it like nothing before, and he fears what he would do if he ever lost one of them.
He will not admit it to anyone. He will take it to his grave.
But, the words the fool Vaemond Velaryon spoke, scared him. And Daemon Targaryen is not scared.
He is a dragon, fire made flesh, fire that has burned since the beginning of time and will always burn.
Daemon is not even scared of death. He cares not for names. He cares only for blood. His children will live on, have children of their own, and he believes in the power of dragons enough to know that their dynasty will last.
But he is scared of losing his wives.
He cared not when the light of Rhea Royce’s eyes was crushed under him. (This is why he is not a good person, undeserving.) But he did care when Laena Velaryon was taken from him. (He knows that even if she lived, he would have found his way to them.) Laena’s death only scared him more. Only made him hold Rhaenyra closer, hold his children closer. And when Y/N came along, he held her just as close.
He will never forget Laena’s screams. Not Rhaenyra’s, nor Y/N’s. But he is happy with the children he has, and rests easy knowing that he will never have to hear them again.
But he is not stupid.
As much as Aemma Targaryen believed, the childbed is not the woman’s only battlefield. Life is the battlefield.
His entire family is at danger with every passing moment, every inch of power the Greens grow.
Every inch his dear brother nears to death.
Daemon is a powerful man, a proud man, needy and wanting and self-aware. He knows that people think his wives to be whores. His step-sons to be bastards.
But by the Gods, Daemon Targaryen vows he will not lose them.
—-
You are not a fool.
You know something has changed, that something happened at the Red Keep that has changed all of you. Vaemon’s words, Aemond’s words, the boy’s fists. The tension, the violence, it has all seeped into your blood and changed you.
Everyone is on edge, unsung threats rent the air. Change is inevitable, and you know the happiness you’ve felt in the last years will not lost. You know that you must be ready.
But you feel unready. And as you walk to the Great Hall, that feeling only multiplies.
“Lady Y/N,” the guard announces, and you brush off the handmaiden trailing you and walk over to the fire.
“You called?” You asked, trailing a finger along the Painted Table.
“No. Rhaenys did. She has arrived on dragonback.”
You turn to Rhaenyra, watches as her eyes fix across the table, to the south, towards King’s Landing.
“Why? What’s happened?”
“She did not say. But we have not heard anything, which is good, yes?” You watch as she steps closer to you, eyes lifting from the Painted Table.
“Yes.” You assure her, although you do not know if you tell the truth. “That’s good.” She nods, inhales deeply.
You mean to say something else, to assure her it will all be fine, but the doors open and Rhaenys is announced.
“Thank you, Ser Lorent.” Rhaenyra steps forward, presiding over the table, over Westeros, how she is meant to. Like a Queen. “Princess Rhaenys, might we hope for news of Lord Corlys’s recovery?”
“Viserys is dead.”
For a moment, the room is silent. You pour over the words in your mind, trying to make sense of them. They do not feel true. They cannot be true. You are not ready.
But the sorrow sets in anyway, and you press a hand over your mouth.
“Oh my Gods,” you murmur, looking up at the Princess with wide eyes.
“I grieve this loss with you, Rhaenyra. My cousin, your father… possesses a kind heart.” She speaks plainly, apathetic, and it feels almost wrong to speak about such a emotional man with a lack of it. Viserys deserves to be celebrated, his kind smiles cherished and his wise words remembered. He deserves to be remembered.
You say Rhaenyra’s name, grab her hand, but she is limp in your hold. Rhaenys walks around the table, stopping near the Vale.
“There is more.” You wonder what news could be worse than this. “Aegon has been crowned as his successor.” You let Rhaenyra’s hand drop from yours.
“But… Rhaenyra is… Aegon is not…”
“They crowned him?” Rhaenyra asks, and you hear the disbelief in her voice. You are sure it is in yours as well.
The notion that a boy like that could ever rule over the Seven Kingdoms is simply… wrong. He is not worthy of it. Not prepared, he was not raised as the heir. Rhaenyra is Queen. Rhaenyra must be Queen.
“How did Viserys die?” Daemon asks, and you realize is it the first time you have heard his voice all day.
“I could not say.”
“How long ago?”
This feels like an interrogation, a conversation running around in circles with questions Rhaenys cannot answer.
“A day past, perhaps two, I was made a prisoner while the Queen made her preparations.”
“Viserys has been slain.” Daemon says, palming the pommel of Dark Sister. You have no doubt of the fire and blood he wishes to rain down upon the Hightowers, but you also know he is not in charge. You are not either.
Rhaenyra is Queen.
“Alicent demanded you declare for Aegon.” It is not a question, and Rhaenyra’s voice cracks in such a way that makes your heart twist.
“Nyra,” you whisper, placing a hand onto her shoulder and placing your lips next to her ear. “take a breath, Nyra, my love, take a breath,”
“No- no, no,” she murmurs, pulling away from you. She turns to Rhaenys, her sadness changing. “She demanded you declare for Aegon.”
Rhaenys eyes her for a moment. “She did.”
You see Daemon brave, hunch over for battle. Rhaenys notices too.
“I refused her.”
“And yet you are alive.”
You watch as Rhaenys takes a breath, clearly taking their questioning as disrespect.
“The High Septon crowned Aegon in the Dragonpit. I witnessed it myself just before I fled on Meleys.”
“They crowned him before the masses.” Rhaenyra realizes, and you step forward. But you hesitate, and stay where you are. She does not need your comfort right now.
“So that the masses would see him as their rightful king.”
“That whore of a Queen murdered my brother and stole his throne. And you could have burned them all for it.”
“Daemon,” you sigh.
“A war is like to be fought over the treachery, to be sure.” Daemon nods, and Rhaenys steps forward. She looks like a goddess in her dragon riding armor. “But that war is not mine to begin. I only rushed this warning to you out of loyalty to my husband and to my house.” She nods, and you watch as she’s walks away. Tears fill your eyes, and her form is blurry, but her words made you realize something.
“No! No, no, you can’t-” She stops, and turns to you at your outburst. “Al-alicent is not stupid. She- she knows that you are a rival to her son, Rhaenyra. The Greens will, oh Gods, they’ll come for us, and-”
Then your entire world crashed down in front of you, your entire focus only turning to one truth. You hunched over, biting back an animalistic sob and clutching your stomach.
“Y/N?” Daemon asks, and you hear his footsteps.
“They will kill our children!” You screech, like a wild woman, like a mother, and you watch as your husband and wife freeze. “They- they will kill our babies, my babies, our children-” You turn to Daemon and Rhaenyra, a fire licking at you. “I don’t- I don’t have any power. But you do. You have to- have to save them, please, save them,”
Daemon pulls you into his arms, and you sob against him.
—-
You do not know what happens after. Daemon and Rhaenyra seclude themselves in the Great Hall, fathered around the Painted Table, discussing plans to protect Dragonstone. Protect your children.
You stormed into the nursery soon after Rhaenys came, checking on all of the babies, sound asleep in their cribs. Innocent, perfect, blissfully unaware.
You came back to the Great Hall, standing in between your dragons, hearing their wavering opinions. Daemon demands war. Rhaenyra demands they process, think before they do anything.
You do not know what to think, what to do besides sit in your own fear and sadness and worry.
You stand while they talk, yell and argue. It is only when a knight enters the Great Hall you take notice. You do not recognize him, watch as guards you do know pull out their swords.
“I mean no harm, brothers,” if all he says, as he gets to his knees upon the stone floor. He takes something out of his satchel, and you see it shine golden in the dim sunlight. You do not think it burns for you, anymore. You do not think it ever did.
You watch as he extends a crown. The crown. Viserys’s crown.
“I swear to ward the Queen… with all my strength… and give my blood for hers. I shall take no wife… hold no lands… father no children. I shall guard her secrets… obey her commands… ride at her side, and defend her name and honor.”
Daemon steps forward carefully, cautiously, taking the crown in his hands and inspecting it as if the blood of his brother is on it. You trail behind him, anxious, curious. You know Rhaenyra can do it. You knew she will be a wonderful Queen. Daemon knows war like the back of his hand, and you have no doubt he will protect the children. Protect you and Rhaenyra. It is you who is not ready.
Daemon turns, the crown in one hand. You feel the glow on the sun on your face, feel Rhaenyra’s eyes on you. Daemon meets your eyes, holds out the crown.
You almost want to confirm. Forget that he is your husband, Rhaenyra your wife, make him tell you that it is you he is looking for. You, they need. You, they love.
But you do not do that. Because as much as you act like you aren’t, you are Lady Y/N Targaryen. You are a dragon, sweetened with honey and burned by fire.
You step forward, take the crown in one of your hands. When you reach Rhaenyra, her mouth parts slightly in shock. You hope that with your eyes, she knows what you tell her. That she is good. She is ready.
You move in sync, resting the crown on her head.
When you step back, you feel otherworldly. Like you are simply a spectator. You cannot pick up on the details, and you know nothing except for him, her, and your children.
Daemon grabs your hand, a steady anchor as he helps guide you to the floor. And he is your anchor, your savior, your dam, your water. You release your worries, remembering that you never worry around them.
You look up at Rhaenyra, but she is not looking at you. She looks at the sea of people. The ones you can hear shuffling and bowing. You do not look too closely at her, too consumed in the moment, but you know she looks like a Queen. You know she feels like a Queen.
She will say she is not ready, but she is. And you will be beside her, helping to carry her crown, each step of the way. Besides, dragons mate for life. And you are a dragon.

Your tour plans were put off for a journey to Driftmark, for Laena’s funeral. While part of you was okay with not having to entertain suitors, you wished it was under better circumstances. Your heart hurt as you saw Rhaena and Baela sit on a small bench. Daemon had been sitting with them before offering to find them water. You found him again after everyone retired to bed. He was just staring out over the balcony.
“Are you okay?”
Daemon turned his head a bit, extending a hand when he saw it was just you. “I will be, thank you for asking… I didn’t love her but she was my friend, I don’t think I could have been happier, do you understand that?”
“A bit.”
“And she was their mother.”
“I’m sorry for your loss, truly. Laena was my friend too.”
Daemon chuckled a bit. “I remember.”
You went to give the man a hug, resting your chin on his back. Daemon patted your arms that were wrapped around him. You didn’t move right away. He looked at the dark beach, not able to see a thing. It was almost a welcome thing that he couldn’t see. The dark let him think without distraction. He finally turned around when you pulled away.
“I do hope to hear you have been better off than I have.”
You shook your head. “I thought I might have found love and then the lord got himself killed in battle. And my nephews. Well, you’ve seen them. I can’t hide the truth much longer and it needs to stay hidden until I have a child or at least a husband.”
“I suppose I should be happy to have someone I can commiserate with.”
The two of you gave out sad laughs. Daemon reached out his arms once again for a hug. You obliged him. The only thing that broke you two apart was a servant at his open door.
“Princess, Prince Daemon, they are requesting your presence in the main hall.”
“What is the problem?” you asked as you two followed the servant.
The problem was very clear when you entered the room. Aemond had a freshly stitched wound on his face. Daemon stood by the door until he saw his daughters, running over to them and their grandparents.
“What happened?” you asked in concern, going to examine your brother’s face.
Aemond slapped your hand away without a second thought. You looked at your father who had no answer then to Aemond who said nothing. With a sigh, you looked at four other children that had dirt smudges all over them. Quickly, you went over to Luke who you just noticed had a bloody nose.
“What happened? The truth, now… Slowly, one at a time.”
Your father stepped back and let you handle the matter. It was time to witness you in work while he was still alive. He had never questioned his decision to make you heir but he realized that he never gave you an opportunity to prove yourself where it really counted. In the matters of family. You took cloth and handed it to Luke to wipe the blood of his face.
“Well the answer isn’t too hard. Aemond shouldn’t have been out at night. Vhagar was promised to Rhaena. She was supposed to be allowed the chance to either be accepted or rejected by the dragon.”
“I was there first.”
“No, you weren’t,” you corrected him. “That promise was put in place by her father and all of Driftmark for a few months from now, after Vhagar had time to mourn. Not only did you have complete disregard for that but you have robbed a dragon of their mourning period. However, I am sorry you lost an eye. Let this be a lesson to you.”
Alicent stopped dabbing at her son’s face. “What are you saying?”
“I’m saying this matter is at rest. You four, I don’t care how you felt. That is no excuse. You come to an adult first. Do you understand that? You come to me first. You, Baela, will not dragon ride until the season is over. And the four of you will not go near the dragon pits until I allow it.”
“This is ridiculous,” Alicent said.
“It is okay, Mother. I may have lost an eye but I gained a dragon.”
“No you didn’t.”
Aemond whipped his head around to look at you. “That dra—”
“Vhagar belongs to no one yet! In the morning, I will approach Vhagar. If she accepts me, the dragon is Rhaena’s and I will merely hold her until the time comes. If not, then you’ve proven yourself. I think we’re all done here, now.”
Alicent scoffed. “He lost an eye because of her sons.”
“What do you want me to do? It can’t be given back.”
“They meant to kill my son.”
“Please. It is the night of a funeral. The children have been at each other’s throats all day. They were all provoked. Luke has broken his nose, Aemond has lost an eye. All five of them are probably going to be sick in the morning. Give it a rest. They’ve learned their lesson. The children will sleep without my scolding and make amends tomorrow.”
“That is insufficient. My son has lost an eye. Your son, Viserys! He has been damaged permanently. Amends will not make it whole again.”
“I know. But Laelara is correct. We cannot restore his eye.”
“Because it has been taken.”
“What do you want us to do?”
“A debt must be paid. I shall have one of her son’s eyes in return.”
You pushed your nephews behind you and Rhaenyra. Even from behind your sister, you could feel Lucerys shaking like a leaf. At least you knew which child took Aemond’s eye. Viserys shook his head.
“Do not let your temper guide your judgement,” he said before walking off.
Alicent huffed. “If the King will not seek justice, the Queen will. Ser Criston, bring me the eye of Lucerys Velaryon.”
“Alicent!” you yelled.
“He can choose which eye to keep. A privilege he did not grant my son.”
“You will do no such thing,” Rhaenyra told Ser Criston, Viserys agreeing.
“You are sworn to me!” Alicent yelled.
“As your protector, my Queen.”
You thanked Criston for finally having a conscience. You checked over your nephews once more before announcing the matter over. You thought it necessary to move your guards to watch the children’s room instead. There should be extra guards that have no commands from Alicent in case something was tried.
You gave them smiles before turning around at all the shouting. Alicent had taken the dagger from Viserys’ sheath and was coming at the children. Daemon started to come at her, being blocked by Criston who didn’t have a problem protecting the Queen while she tried to attack children. You pushed Luke further away, the poor boy screaming in fear.
“Alicent, do no—” You grabbed her. “You’ve gone too far.”
“I? What have I done but what was expected of me? Forever upholding the kingdom, the family, the law. While you flout all to do as you please.”
“Alicent, let her go,” someone commanded.
“Where is duty?” she kept talking to you. “Where is sacrifice? It’s trampled under your pretty foot. You let them take my son’s eye.”
“Exhausting, isn’t it?”
She looked at you confused.
“Keeping up the mask. Now everyone knows you aren’t the moral queen you set out to be. You aren’t above any of us.”
Alicent screamed, shoving you. Daemon ran to you when you hissed. The hall was silent. Everyone watched blood drip from somewhere underneath your sleeve. It started to form a small pool on the floor. The dagger dropped from Alicent’s hand. You were taken from the hall and back to your chamber to get your cut cleaned and bandaged. You were thankful you didn’t need stitches.
“Come in,” you said when someone knocked on your door.
Daemon entered moments later, looking at the bandage on your arm. The doctor left shortly afterwards. Daemon looked at the closing door.
“Where are your guards?”
“With the children for the night.”
“That is not safe for you.”
“And let them lose an eye?”
He came closer, reaching to hold your bandaged arm. “You could lose more than that.”
“She would never try that.”
“She had no problem cutting you when she couldn’t get to Rhaenyra’s children.”
“Why do you look so concerned? I am fine, Daemon.”
“You cannot continue like this,” he said in Valyrian. “Unprotected.”
“I am alright.”
“You cannot hide behind your sister anymore.”
“I have not been trying to hide. I already told yo—”
“How long did it take you to find that man? How long will it take you to find another prospect of love. Alicent has made it clear tonight. You do not have time.”
“Daemon.”
“You know I don’t lie to you. You have no time. You cannot face the greens alone and I don’t see a husband in sight.”
“Then you marry me.”
“I’m sorry?” Daemon dropped your hand.
You smiled. “So you see how ridiculous it sounds. If I ever make a political arrangement, I would only trust you with that. I promise I will find someone before the year is over. You are right, you have never lied to me. I know that I am losing time.”
You got up to find a sleeping gown.
“Alright,” Daemon said, making you turn around. “I will marry you.”
“Daemon.”
“If you need a political marriage, I will do it. I have done it before. Also for you.”
“I need time to think about it.”
Understood… I don’t like you staying here alone.”
“I won’t leave the children without guards sworn to me. I don’t trust her.”
“Let me bring everyone to your chamber. We can’t be any safer than together.”
You nodded. Daemon was back rather quickly, the four children still rubbing sleep out of their eyes. You let them take your bed while you took a lounging chair that was in your room. Daemon was okay with sleeping on the floor in front of your chair.
Morning brought sunlight through your windows. You tried to turn over but sunlight still tickled your closed eyelids. Did you forget to draw the curtains? Eyes still closed, you sat up and prepared yourself to get ready. Before you could stand up, a bit of pain ran through your arm. You ignored it so you could get up.
Very abruptly, you tripped over something and hit the floor. Daemon opened his eyes with a groan.
“Are you alright?”
“Daemon?”
“Well do not seem surprised to see me.”
“I’m sorry, I actually forgot about the other night for a moment.”
Daemon helped you stand up. He immediately took your hurt arm into his hands, checking it over. Carefully, he unwrapped the slightly bloody bandages. He tenderly ran a finger over the cut to try and gauge your reaction.
“Get dressed so I can take care of that.”
You moved to the closet that held your gowns for the time you were going to stay in Driftmark. You looked over to the bed. The children were still asleep. You’d get dressed quickly so as not to risk anything but you didn’t think you had to run to a washroom when they looked deep in their dreamworlds.
Daemon watched your hands grip the sides of your nightgown. He didn’t avert his eyes as you got dressed. It was interesting to see your body for the first time. He didn’t dislike it. In fact, you were rather pleasant to look at.
You made your way back to him. You had chosen short sleeves to make his work easier. Daemon raised his eyebrow but didn’t speak as he recleaned and rewrapped your arm. You were wearing multiple dresses. He took great care with what he was doing. It wasn’t hard when he had experience stitching himself up and others after battles.
“Your hair is a mess,” you commented out of nowhere.
He smiled. “I think that’s what happens when one sleeps on the floor. There. All bandaged up.”
“Thank you.”
Daemon pressed a kiss to your hairline before walking away. You watched him shake Jace, Luke, Baela, and Rhaena. He was laughing the entire time as they complained about it being too early. They all looked over when the door suddenly closed. You were no longer in the room. Daemon shrugged with a funny look on his face.
“Up, up. We need to get dressed. The Princess has a very important day ahead of her. We need to be there to support her.”
“Is Aunt Laelara upset with us?” Jacaerys asked.
“No,” Daemon said quickly. “No. Now, up. Let’s get dressed. Boys, go find your mother first.”
Daemon only put on an overcoat before going to find you. He was concerned with how quickly you left and more concerned that you might have been alone. After last night, it was hard for him to be so trusting. You were sat at the table in the dining hall with a plate and a cup. No one else was there yet.
You didn’t look up as he walked towards you, too entranced with whatever you were doing. Daemon stood over you. You were writing down something. He watched the ink spread over the parchment. You still didn’t notice him. Daemon stabbed your fork into the piece of meat on your plate.
“What are you doing?”
You nearly jumped out of your skin, finally noticing his presence. “I am writing.”
Daemon rolled his eyes. “I see that.”
“Well, then, leave me to finish.”
He didn’t move, only taking another piece of meat. Letting his curiosity get the better of him, he leaned over to read the little bit of handwriting he could see.
“As the heir, the notion of inheritance is now in my stay. If anything were to happen to me before I am able to bear children, Baela Targaryen is to wed Jacaerys Velaryon and they are to sit on the Iron Throne together. Princess Rhaenyra and Prince Daemon are to guide them until they are of age to succeed King Visery— Princess, what is this?”
You blew on the parchment before rolling it up. For the first time since being there, Daemon looked at everything on the table. Your official wax and seal were there. The wax had been melting over a candle for what he could only assume was for as long as you had been sitting at the table. You carefully poured the wax over the parchment, pressing the seal into the soft material. Standing up from the table, you tucked the rolled paper into a pocket at the top of Daemon’s overcoat.
“I am about to do something utterly stupid and reckless.”
Daemon grabbed your arm when you tried to walk off, loosening his grip after you grimaced. “Princess…”
“I’ve already talked to Father this morning, everyone is to gather at the beach in an hour. I promised I would see justice for Laena and Vhagar. You should try to eat breakfast.”
“Laelara.”
“I would have agreed to marry you. I think you are the best ally I could have ever had, dare I say friend.”
“Laelara.”
You pulled away from Daemon’s grasp. He tried to reach for you again but you walked faster, ignoring the rest of his calls. You only had an hour to prepare yourself. What you were doing was alarmingly dangerous. Your father nearly had a heart attack when you talked it over with him earlier that morning. But not only did you promise justice, it was your first real doing as heir to the throne. To back away now would mark you as weak.
The hour was upon everyone. The entire family had gathered on the beach, everyone utterly confused. The presence of Vhagar clearly meant it was time to strip Aemond of his dragon. The young boy didn’t find it fair. Neither did the other Hightowers. Otto, however, was less concerned than his daughter and grandchildren. He was the only one who dared to voice out what everyone thought.
“You’d have to kill a rider to take their dragon. The Princess could never do that, not unless she wanted to be executed herself.”
“Watch yourself, Otto,” Viserys said viscously.
“Where is the Princess anyway?” Lord Corlys asked.
Everyone looked around. You were the only one not there yet. The wind blew gently threw everyone’s hair while they waited for you. It died down as you approached. The court cleared way for you to stand in the middle of them where they could all see you. You gave a small bow of the head to your father. Worry was clear on Viserys’ face.
“The dragon is mine,” Aemond said, angrily. “I’ve already claimed her. We are bonded.”
“It hasn’t even been a day, dear brother. There was another way to bond yourself to dragons in the days of Old Valyria, one that carried a heavier weight. If I am accepted by Vhagar this way, she can never be taken again, only given away. The magic will not allow any other way. This marks a dragon-rider from a Dragon.”
You stood in front of Daemon, Rhaenyra, and the children. Your sister looked at you in confusion when you set your shoes at her feet. You took off your hooded cloak and handed it to Daemon. His hand covered yours. In all his years of knowing you, even when you were a baby, he was never in fear of your life. This was the first time he was ever truly scared. He couldn’t even get out a question.
You returned to the middle of the circle and pulled out the dagger you had concealed. You bit your tongue as you stared at it. Maybe if last night’s incident hadn’t happened, you wouldn’t be as scared now. You looked up when a hand took the weapon from you. Viserys made the smallest cut he possibly could. He stepped back to let you finish.
Vhagar lifted her head at the smell of blood. You got as close to her as you needed. Her giant tongue left her mouth, licking at the wound on your outstretched palm. You dropped your hand. Two drops of blood landed in the sand. You stared down the open mouth of Vhagar. The bright yellow-orange building in the back of her throat was staring back at you.
The entire court jumped back when a solid stream of flames hit the beach. Horror spread over everyone’s face. You were in the middle of the fire. You’d burn to a crisp. Rhaenyra tucked the children’s faces into her, trying to shield them from the sight. A string of no’s left Daemon’s mouth. This couldn’t be happening again.

hello! hope you are well. i love love love your posts. they are always so reasonable and aptly put. so thank you for all your hardworks <3
i was thinking about something for a long time. i'd like to know your opinion on that.
it's obvious that rhaenyra never should have married laenor. in the book she was threatened by viserys to marry him and if she had remained defiant, viserys would have disinherited her. she felt pressured to marry laenor in the show too, so that whole thing was unfortunate for her. when she married laenor, in the show she couldn't conceive his child. and then perhaps she and harwin began their relationship. when jace was born, it was obvious that he wasn't a velaryon.
so, exactly what was rhaenyra supposed to do after jace? she needed an heir to secure her position, but with laenor, it wasn't happening. and when jace was born, he didn't look like rhaenyra either. was there any way for rhaenyra to annul her marriage without offending corlys? and even if the annulment was possible, how it would have affected laenor? would people have called him "less of a man"? everyone knew for a fact that laenor was gay.
even though i am team green i feel some sort of sympathy for rhaenyra here because i still don't know if there were any possible way to get out of that situation without causing a huge drama. that being said, vaemond and his family deserved better.
i know, there are too many questions and for that i'm so sorry, i just had to ask them to you.
Hello, sweet anon, thank you for your lovely message!
As it happens, I already made a post that, I think, answers most of your questions (if you have other additional ones, hit me up).
it's obvious that rhaenyra never should have married laenor.
I think Laenor is actually a very good political match for Rhaenyra. He is also a kind man, who respects her, abides by her and would never hurt her. The problem with the Velaryons is inherited from the previous Targaryen generation. By marrying outside the family, Rhaenys created two additional dragon-riders with her children. Think about the fact that, at the time of Rhaenyra's marriage, House Velaryon had three dragon-riders, while House Targaryen only two. Uniting these two branches through marriage is a very good idea. Just like Viserys marrying Laena would have accomplished the same thing (🤢).
in the book she was threatened by viserys to marry him and if she had remained defiant, viserys would have disinherited her. she felt pressured to marry laenor in the show too, so that whole thing was unfortunate for her.
Only after she made a mockery of her betrothal tour and almost-slept with Daemon. She has a lot of opportunities and freedoms out of reach for many other noble lords and ladies.
when she married laenor, in the show she couldn't conceive his child. and then perhaps she and harwin began their relationship.
Not sure about Laenor's infertility. It's more likely he & Rhaenyra didn't really try.
when jace was born, it was obvious that he wasn't a velaryon.
Yes. Perhaps Rhaenyra hoped Harwin had some recessive blond genes in his background (not phrased in that language, obviously) and the child would come out looking more like her. But it was a huge miscalculation.
so, exactly what was rhaenyra supposed to do after jace? she needed an heir to secure her position
No, she didn't. See the first linked post. I think the better option here would have been to name Aegon her heir* and for Laenor to pass Driftmark to Laena's line after his death. Viserys had already produced enough children with Alicent and House Velaryon has no lack of cousins who can inherit, if needs be. There are enough Targaryens and Velaryons in the world by this point; they are not facing extinction.
*No, her life would not be forfeit in that situation. Legally, her claim is not very strong (narrative weakness / plot hole) and realistically-speaking people would not have much reason to rally behind her. I have a whole succession for the Iron Throne tag for this.
was there any way for rhaenyra to annul her marriage without offending corlys? and even if the annulment was possible, how it would have affected laenor? would people have called him "less of a man"? everyone knew for a fact that laenor was gay.
Previous post on annulment + another one. Important aspect to keep in mind: why would the High Septon award Rhaenyra an annulment when the Faith of the Seven is based in Oldtown, the home city of the Hightowers?
that being said, vaemond and his family deserved better.
Agree. That was a grievous abuse of power. 🤷‍♀️ Personal ambition is not a crime. Even if you want to argue Baela & Rhaena are ahead of him in the line of succession*, Vaemond has every right to petition his case and await the King's judgment. He is not seizing anything illegally here. He is officially appealing the institution of the Crown and stating his own argument. Not Vaemond's problem Viserys is rotting from the inside out and he is basically petitioning Alicent & Otto.
*Controversial opinion, but I'm not arguing that. I think the girls should be disqualified because they are not putting their own cases forward as a result of their conflict of interests (their father being married to Rhaenyra, who is actively trying to usurp the Velaryons out of her lands). Again, not Vaemond's problem they are unwilling or unable to argue for themselves and indirectly abetting Rhaenyra's takeover.
even though i am team green i feel some sort of sympathy for rhaenyra here because i still don't know if there were any possible way to get out of that situation without causing a huge drama.
It's not so much that Rhaenyra made one or two mistakes and now she should be punished for them, it's more that... I'm really struggling to see what/if Rhaenyra did anything right at all. She has been skirting her duties all her life and everything she does post ep. 6 is damage-control, which inadvertently backfires on her, because the hole she dug herself in is already too big.
Nevertheless, Rhaenyra is in a very difficult situation, no doubt. It is not fair that she has to clean up the messes left behind by Jaehaerys and Viserys, the two "peaceful" kings. Jaehaerys should never have passed over Rhaenys in the first place. Viserys should never have remarried and produced extra sons. It's a difficult task, but it is her lot in life, should she ever wish to become queen. She can always pass this on to Aegon and live her life as a rich, comfortable woman. No one is forcing her hand here.
The only way I see Rhaenyra having a sliver of a chance is if she maintains a good, honest relationship with Alicent and her sons, marries a powerful, rich noble lord and has his trueborn children + petitions, wines & dines, gives out bribes and favours constantly to the lords and important players in Westeros, makes constant royal progresses, gets to know them, gets them to like her, helps them with their grievances, just basically lobbies the fuck out of every power centre in the Seven Kingdom, including the common folk. So that, when the time comes, she has so much popular support that she can basically impose herself via some sort of charismatic authority. Doesn't flee to Dragonstone, abandoning the capital and the practical governance. And absolutely does not kill her husband and does not marry Daemon.
i know, there are too many questions and for that i'm so sorry, i just had to ask them to you
No worries, I just hope I answered them! 🦄

If you don't mind sharing your opinion, what are your thoughts on the dynamic between Aemond and Lucerys? Do you think Aemond truly hated Lucerys or did the former realize that he did not hate the latter as much as he assumed after Lucerys' death?
I think Aemond projects his inadequacy onto Lucerys and is jealous. Their relationship parallels Alicent and Rhaenyra's, and deliberately so.
Let's start by talking about Aemond's grudge against Lucerys. I'll say two things: firstly, Aemond didn't deserve to lose an eye. Secondly, Lucerys is not truly at fault.
Tumblr media
Aemond claiming Vhagar so soon after Laena's death was bad form, sure, but it's also typical ten year old behavior. I'm sorry, but a ten year old does not understand the complexity and nuance of grief or the idea that there is a time and a place for things, and that was absolutely Not It. You can get into whether or not his parents should have taught him this, but the reality is that claiming Vhagar is not an unforgiveable sin but instead a child's foolishness.
And that said, you can see why Laena's daughters and Rhaenyra's sons (again, in the books, Rhaenyra and Laena were romantically involved, so she was very close with Rhaenyra's sons) would see it as rubbing salt in the wound. Even though Baela and Rhaena aren't as involved in the books, yeah, it comes across as hurtful, even cruel, even if Aemond had no cruel intentions. Of course they were furious and frankly, would have been justified to never forgive.
But you just said Aemond wasn't unforgivable! To the audience and adults, yes. For the kids, well, not forgiving for personal hurts is their choice, but whatever they could've chosen, it doesn't mean that Aemond was some irredeemable monster.
So then let's go to Luke. Luke is even younger than Aemond. In the show, Aemond picks up a rock and starts using it to hit Jacaerys' head.
Tumblr media
Aeeemooooonnnnnd you do realize that can kill someone, right? Well, to be fair, Aemond doesn't, because as a kid he doesn't fully grasp death's finality. Still, it imo justifies Luke and Jace defending themselves with violence, and doesn't put them on a lower moral tier.
When it comes to the eye, Luke also doesn't fully understand what that means, how that's a permanent disability, how no kid involved deserved a permanent punishment for what happened between them there. Like he's six years old. You think a six year old can comprehend what that means?
This is why Alicent's "an eye for an eye!" is so effed up. It reflects her understanding of fairness, but what Aemond needed in that moment wasn't revenge, but love and comfort. That whole scene had nothing to do with Aemond or Luke and everything to do with Alicent's self-despair at her powerlessness projected as envy of Rhaenyra.
Tumblr media
So. That at last brings me back to Aemond's feelings for Luke. It's not hatred exactly, but imo the same as Alicent vs. Rhaenyra: envy. Rhaenyra protected Luke at the expense of her own wellbeing. Now, Alicent wasn't there when Aemond lost his eyes, so by no means am I judging her, but even when she found out it was more about how to make them hurt instead of how to make Aemond feel better.
I think Alicent loved her kids, but how she treats her children is a major flaw especially when compared to Rhaenyra's treatment of her kids. But, also? Rhaenyra's sons were born of love. Alicent's were born of--well, duty is a nice word, but by today's standards, we'd call it assault. This doesn't mean they're bad kids or that Alicent hated them (she. loves. them.).
But, Alicent's understanding of love is interwoven with power and the idea that love seeks power for the beloved first and foremost.
Alicent wants to be loved unconditionally, like every human alive. But she never has been. Her husband kind of loves her, but he doesn't know her or respect her in the same way as he did Aemma. Her father claims to love her, but uses her like a pawn and sells her into marriage. The show's depiction of her bond with Rhaenyra as a kind of puppy love ties beautifully into this as well: she experienced it, only to have it broken by the expectations of a society that says "can't let this exist."
So, Alicent's husband shows his flaws in love by not giving her power and by neglecting their kids. This hurts her. Her father shows his love by making her queen. When it comes to her kids, giving them power is the only way she feels she can express love. But it's as lacking when she does it as it was when her father did it.
I do think Aemond was jealous of Rhaenyra's prioritization of all her kids--including stepkids. I think he projected his feelings in inadequacy onto Luke. He was the second son. He wasn't loved by the people like Daeron or Helaena, or in line for the throne like Aegon. His biggest triumph--claiming Vhagar--was overshadowed by the fact that he lost an eye that same day.
Tumblr media
Lucerys is also a second son. Not only that, but he's a bastard, and yet he was loved by his biological father, Harwin, his legal father, Laenor, and his stepfather, Daemon. Meanwhile Viserys, frankly, doesn't give a damn about Aemond or any of Alicent's kids.
But Aemond is the legitimate one. Aemond, if things go by the book, is entitled to things Luke has. Why doesn't he have love or belonging, then? It's the same "but I've done it the right way, so why am I not the one being rewarded with happiness?" tragedy that is Alicent's relationship with Rhaenyra.
Maybe if Luke lost an eye, he'd feel what Aemond feels. Maybe that's the true equalizer (it's not).
Still, in the books, Aemond is going to let Lucerys go. But one girl taunts Aemond and implies he's weak for preferring to marry her sister over her, and this is what sets Aemond off on Vhagar to hunt down Luke.
In other words, it was never about hatred. It was always about Aemond projecting his own feelings of inadequacy.

(Maybe I sent you this ask but I'm not sure, of it's true I'm sorry😅) can I tell you that I agree with that post: Baela and Rhaena deserve better and what pisses me off the most is how many fics ignore Daemon's neglect or erase his daughters😔 especially Rhaena.
The fics where it's highlighted his flaws are my favorite!there is one where Rhaena is hosted at KL by the king after the eye accident and the poor baby asked her father to fight for her...he chose Nyra...☹
The fic is called Peace tinged with betrayal and it focuses on Aemond/Rhaena pairing ☺and they were each other's first first.
It's still on going and I can't wait to read Daemon's reaction; Viserys approves the match and he will enjoy THE KARMA.
Another one instead is a what if?—Black bride by Mirari7 and Rhaena here is taken as hostage and wife to Aemond after Storm's end.
Daemon's reaction...is interesting, she wants her back but Rhaenys and Baela call him out on his neglect..
These two are good and I'm waiting for an update!
That sounds familiar I think I read that one. I hate that too! One of the fics I wrote Daemon is an engaged father but I wrote a backstory about when he apologized for how he treated them and worked on their relationship. Otherwise it’s a retcon, I read fics where he’s referred as a great father and I’m like ??? There’s an huge part of the characters being ignored here 😂 Which to me is funny because the fics always talk about Viserys but when it comes to Daemon nothing. You don’t have to look that deep into it when Rhaena literally says “Father ignores him”, Laena doesn’t look shocked, and he doesn’t speak to her once the entire season even in the deleted scenes. It’s an interesting thing to write about so I don’t know why the writers always go out of there way to depict them the opposite of how they were shown on screen. I mean instead of pretending everything’s ok, it would be better to write him the way he is and show how he’s working towards being a better father and trying to understand girls since he grew up with no sisters and his mom died when he was young. I don’t like it also with the insinuation that because their smiling and not falling out crying/complaining, that it’s ok for them to be neglected. Or saying he’s a loving father because they aren’t crazy or killers. For a show and fandom so “focused on misogyny” you would expect the opposite reaction but alas. They see the girls as an inconvenience and having to acknowledge their trauma is even more of a bother, really wanting them to be seen and not heard.

The Dance has begun. I can understand Sansa, as for why she feels so small again, calling out to her real family even more desperately — if only these people knew what was coming, just like she does! And right now she's not that Little Bird, she's a fighter and she won't run. I love this girl and how full of compassion for other people she is. She knows that innocents are going to be sacrificed for literally nothing. Alicent does too, but she blindly prays for salvation because opening her eyes would kill her. Rhaenys does too, but... I mean, this lady has issues. Or maybe she's just THE Targaryen and it is ✨fine✨ for them to think like that. Ugh, cringe bitches, both her and Rhae — Laenor deserved better, just like Symon does, though he's got something better than he hoped for. Ned is saving him just as much he & his fam saved her from Larys. *In Aemond's voice* It's a fair exchange. And oh no Rhaenys, don't you compare Lady Whent to your spoiled cun..ning niece. Ugh, I can't stand her in any universe, sorry. One more proof you got all the characters so well! But enough of the Blacks, my Green boys! Sansa is definitely all of us watching THAT scene 🤣 Despite it's being a fight scene it's absolutely heartwarming and I was happy to experience a better version of it. Aegon and Sansa need to chat more Imao, it's sending me 😜
But Aemond, babe, your plan! It wasn't that bad. Almost as okay as Daeron becoming a king in F&B. However, their loyalty to Aegon is here again to ruin the day. Loyalty is a great thing but did any of you except Niddle listen to Aegon himself? HELAENA MY DEAR SHE'S HAVING SUCH A BAD TIME WITH ALL THIS BULLSHIT. Cousin Ned is there for you to feel valuable 💜 I hope Cole mentions that it was Ned's idea, the crown.
Also... One more hint on the possible third team... The Starks + Firesteel? Would be perfect 🥺 Waiting for the Storm's End. Hope Ned does something to Aemond's anger issues hehe... But even if Luke doesn't die, something tells me the Blacks still won't be satisfied. Either way, may Lady Stark survive them all once more 😈
Ciao Anne!,
As always thank you for your review it’s amazing!
Rhaenys is still a Targaryen to the core and she has her own plan, she doesn’t trust Rhaenyra one bit, but she has her plan and won’t be standing down about it. Her girls need to inherit Driftmark and their children — Laena’s grandchildren — to sit on the Iron throne for her revenge to be complete, also, it felt fitting with the way she acted with the attack to the Sept that Rhaenys would be like “The Realm ain’t my responsibility since they rejected me. Now they pay the price”
Aegon is very aware that he is not fit to rule — maybe he might have been but his issues are all over the place — and he knows Ned is more clever than she lets on, he has seen it, and he’s a little spoiled shit anyway. So ofc their interactions would be fun 😂😂😂 he be like “Where’s ya husband, cousin?” a jab to her and Aemond alike and then be like “Ya know, I know, the Seven know. Are you more attached to reality than these idiots?”
Helaena is a baby and she must be protected at all costs, and Sansa is there for it. In the book it was Alicent and Helaena both who talked Aegon out of full war and convinced him to offer her peace terms. So she’s much more involved than the show made her — terrible really so we’ll see more of her. Sansa’ll make sure of it!
Aemond’s contingency plan wasn’t that bad, and it took into account several issues… still could the Greens claim to be better than the Blacks if they fought an intestine war between themselves? No. They love each other, they’re loyal — never forget Aegon commissioned ginormous statues of his brothers, Aemond never took the throne though he acted as Prince Regent and Daeron actually throw wine in the face of the lord who dared suggest he stole his brother’s crown.
Like Alicent did one thing right, she made sure her children would be united and loyal and true to each other — we see that also in the private dinner scene in the show, Aegon shoulders Aemond in his speech and immediately is ready to throw punches when the Black kids come for them making sure to humiliate them by slamming their face in the plate — 😂😂😂.
Lady Stark is much stronger than anyone gives her credit for, much more clever than anyone gives her credit for and much more good and brave than anyone gives her credit for. She’s going to eat you all alive and make of you all her project to save the North and you will do it gladly because she asked nicely. 😂😂😂
That’s Sansa superpower. Her own brand of magic.
Thank you again for dropping by and for the amazing review!
As always sending all my love ~G.

I know a lot of people like Rhaenrya and Daemon but I don’t for many reasons, the biggest reason is that daemon groomed rhaenrya and ruined her reputation, but people think he loves her which is so funny to me. Rhaenrya has shown signs of being a spoiled brat many times she’s the time that doesn’t like the rules and doesn’t follow them but expect everyone else to do so, being the queen doesn’t give you freedom you carry the burden of responsibility of the seven kingdoms and Visersys told her that and how daemon isn’t a person who can handle that, but what does she do? Fucks him at his wife’s funeral and then marries him, and people are surprised that he choked her?? BFFR! I’m not the biggest fan of alicent but I understand her way more, she didn’t want to be queen she just followed her father’s choice and truly did believe rhaenyra would have been a great queen but rhaenyra then lied to alicent which gets her father fired (but he kinda deserved it) and even when Rhaenyra gave birth to her sons, she’s putting her self on a ship of thin ice. If ONE of Alicent’s kids came out with Brown hair even if that’s alicent’s hair color y’all know they would’ve killed her. I don’t like the double standard that Rhaenyra and Daemon and Visersys have, I’m not a team green or a black but I have more respect for the greens, not saying aegon would be a great king because he’s not but Rhaenyra isn’t the best option either. Another thing is if Viserys never was going to name aegon as king, why did he remarry and have more children if he was always going to up hold Rhaenyra?? I love Rhaena and Aemond I feel like if they were betrothed then this whole greens and blacks would end, but of course Daemon can only think of himself and a way to make his way to the throne. He doesn’t care for his family the way people think he does, he wants the throne. Wish more people would wake up and realize that. Sorry for the rant but I had to let that out.
Lol, no problem.
I didn't read F&B so I don't get the fandom war. I'm not on any team myself. If I had to pick one though, it would be the greens. Mostly because I nearly always root for the underdogs, but also because you sort of just have to go with the lesser evil if forced to choose?
I liked Rhaenyra well enough until she called for Aemond to be interrogated and fussed about her arm being scratched while Aemond was sitting there maimed for life with eye stitches.
Viserys... I think he just wanted a young girl in his bed immediately and didn't want to wait the two years for Laena to turn 14. Better the child you watched grow up alongside your daughter than some random 12 year old your cousin is trying to set you up with.
I don't have much thoughts about Daemon other than that he reminds me too much of Damon from vampire diaries. Lol. He killed his wife, got exiled for being creepy with his young niece, and then ran off to Pentos with an actual child who was 3 years younger than Rhaenyra. Like, I just imagine Laena as this girl who probably saw him as her father's cool friend from their whole Crabfeeder war, so yeah, he's just some pedo groomer wife-killer imo.
I get the need to rant. After they killed Vaemond, I was livid, but it helps to just avoid interacting with the parts of the fandom you don't enjoy. There's something about GRRM books that just brings out the worst in some people. I'm not into the whole "Targ nation"/ "Valyrian supremacy"/ "racial purity" thing, so I just stick to my little corner of AO3 and block the tags and the weirdos. 😅
Life is too short and precious to spend time being upset with shippers. HotD is not a show worth losing your peace over.

Hey thoughts on Baela's ship? Jace or Alyn?
Hey there Anon and sorry for this delay!
I actually have to give you major props because you sent this ask the day I was dealing with the RIP incel at our comment section and here on tumblr, so it was maybe the only thing that day that made me laugh 😂
Me: having drama
You: but what are your thoughts in Baela/Jace and Baela/Alyn though?!
Thank you ❤️
So answering your question, well I think I have mentioned it in the past but I have a lot of mixed feelings about the “Velaryon” princes. For once I think all three of them were very interesting characters who actually have a personality, and for the most part everything about them is positive. They were brave, bold, Jace was smart and shrewd… they were definitely from Baelon and Jaehaerys’s line and though they did not look Targaryen I think inside they were as Targaryen as they could be ❤️ I wholeheartedly believe Daemon kept looking at them and thinking “F:cking hell these should have been MY sons as well!!!!! Imagine just how much better looking they would be!!!! F:ck you Viserys! I could have FIVE boys! 😤” named Daemon, Daemion, and Daemond 😂
I also think they suffered terrible deaths that they did nothing to deserve.
And to all of you who think they did deserve to die because they were bastards, maybe reassess yourselves. It’s one thing for people in the asoiaf to think so, quite another for us here in the real world to think like this. If you need to be told: the circumstances of our births do not define us. Our actions do. You’re welcome!
But (here comes that round juicy 🍑) in the story I felt that they were always destined to die in a way. Kind of like Laenor, Laena, Harwin… like you could tell where all of this was heading to and even from how baby Aegon’s birth and he is described that he was the one destined to have the throne… so I could never get too invested in them, or I tried not to because I just knew it was leading to nothing - and because I new how the story ended before reading it, I mean Aegon III came after Rhaenyra - I just accepted it 🤷🏽‍♀️
I felt about them like I did about Visenya (though I still like Visenya more), in the sense that I like them, but I kind of don’t want them to succeed. While they x10000 better than the Gangreens, their rule would not have worked out, not with Aegon III and Viserys II existing, sorry but no. And if they had gotten the throne Westeros would not have known peace imo. An AU where the Blacks win and the “Velaryon” princes become kings is just not something I think I could believe in. I think Daemon accepting this would be to ooc for him (again imo) and my rule for reading aus is that I have to feel that the characters are still the same while reflecting the change the AU introduces.
This all to say that I think Jace was a great man and he had every trait (except the dodgy circumstances of his birth) to become a great king. Do I think he was better than Alyn and would have made Baela happier? Without a shadow of a doubt. Alyn for the most part was not a good manager and did not make wise decisions and he was a manwh0re who kept cheating on a Targaryen princess. Like b🐕tch! How DARE you?! Also his scene of “I’m a have a son name him Corlys and maybe he will be king” is just 🤮🤡🤮🤡 moment. Like calm down. Way down, Alyn. Like way down!
Tumblr media
Also yes, please worship a f:cking dude who did not care about you and your brother for years 🙄
And yes I still love Corlys as a character so y’all Karens can go lurk someone else. And yes I also still love Alyn despite all of this I am saying.
In the end, I kind of feel that despite everything him and Baela were destined to be together. I did love their secret marriage and though he was a cheating sack of 💩 he did seem to love her. I just loved when he talked about her you know? Like I could feel it.
All in all, gun to my head I will still pick Baela/Alyn. Do I still also like Baela/Jace? Yeah I absolutely do!
All the best to you, Anon 😊 and thank you again!

It will forever irk me how some people blame Laena for Daemon’s “unhappiness” in Pentos. Let’s be for real here, it was COMPLETELY his fault why they were still in Pentos. I doubt Laena would have denied Daemon the idea of returning to Westeros; she was the one who wanted to go back to driftmark in the first place. Any unhappiness Daemon had was his own fault and no one but him can be blamed (maybe viserys too but that’s another thing). Everyone who is like “poor baby, he was just longing for Rhaenyra…” blah, blah, blah - just makes me sooo heated!! Laena was right there, they need to stop acting as if she was just this means to an end. I know she’s a fictional character but it still angers me to see how minimalized she is by the fandom (especially when they race-bent her and changed the important relationships in her life - that’s one of the reasons why I say that the book is the only canon canon universe, not the show). The racism this fandom has is so crystal clear, but then everyone is all “stop making it about race”, like that’s exactly what you are doing 😭 why can’t I be upset about it?? I doubt anyone would act the way they do if Laena was white and it hurts to even admit that!
No one should sympathize with daemon in ep6, he was being a shitty person and incredibly selfish, in my opinion. (I know you love him and I’m sorry to bash him, but I know you also see his faults unlike a lot of other Daemon stans, so I hope you can understand me on this). Laena was more patient and forgiving than she should have been, I would’ve liked her to call him out instead of whatever bullshit the writers decided on. Laena was not a shy or docile person, she was brave and fierce, that’s literally canon, and the writers shouldn’t have excluded that.
And don’t even get me started on how icky this deleted script makes me feel: https://www.tumblr.com/darksvster/744315340102762496/excerpts-from-the-house-of-the-dragon . “I loved him well.” But then when Rhaenyra asks Daemon if he loved Laena, THE NIGHT OF HER FUNERAL, he says “we were happy enough.” Shut the fuck up, Daemon! 🙄
I don’t personally think Laena and Daemon’s entire marriage (in the show) was an unhappy one, but it was in such poor taste that they made their scenes the way they did in show ‘canon.’ Laena did not deserve to be shown as unhappy, certainly not right before she died. I’ll never stop saying that she deserved better because she really really did. And that’s another reason why I’m writing my fix-it fanfic for her. I just want her to be happy in the end 🫠
Thank you for reading this incredibly messy rant. I hope you don’t hate me for this lmao.
That’s nothing, but cope cause these walking napkins once again forgot about chokegate.
By their own logic Daemon must have been on the verge of jumping off a cliff with Rhaenyra cause no matter how miserable he was with Laena he never laid a hand on her or abandoned her when she was giving birth to their children🙃
He’s literally always 0.2 seconds from sending Missy Anne to join Gollum. If he truly was longing for her like that he wouldn’t even think of laying a hand on her.
Lol, jokes aside, no way he was completely miserable with Laena and she definitely didn’t make him miserable. If anything she calmed his psycho ass down. The man wasn’t miserable because of her(he was just missing the walking corpse he called a brother). That was the most stable time in his life. Which isn’t saying much, but it is what is even if they don’t want to admit that.
You know what he would’ve done if he was actually miserable, wanted Missy Anne, or wanted out of his marriage? He would’ve broken out the good old divorce rock🪨
We are talking about a man who does what he wants with no impunity. He has no qualms about killing family or abusing/murdering his wives.
He could’ve easily killed Laena(especially while she was in labor), but he didn’t do that. He wanted to be with Laena(which is why he married her even though Miss Maegor was begging him to choose her back in episode 5). For all intents and purposes he was content with the means to an end.
Yeah they are all fictional, but these are people are blending real life with fiction cause it’s clear that the main reason why they keep saying this crap is because Laena was made Blackish. These Karen’s refuse to relate to Black(ish) woman on any level so they now are hyping up their titanic ship because Missy Anne is white and blonde.
Real talk, I don’t even think most of them actually care about Missy Anne as a character. She’s just a mascot cause they want to ride Daemon’s dick(no judgements cause Miss Maegor is lame, and Daemon is hot, but they need to be honest about it. I’d never ship something where my fave is being beaten upside her head by her man).
Now Daemon and Laena’s marriage was far far far from perfect in the show. He was not the best husband to her. She definitely deserved better than what he gave her, but they really are trying it when he keeps going Ike Turner on their self insert.
Yes, Laena dies and she’s a minor character, but she does have an impact on the story and on Daemon’s arc. They won’t admit that though because they actively trying to limit her impact.
(See how they keep trying to associate her girls with Daemon as Miss Maegor’s daughters cause the queen of flops gave birth to a lizard instead of a daughter “who looks like” Daemon to replace the half-breeds).
And even though they took away her fire in the show and made her into some poor helpless unloved woman(aka a stereotype), she still made an impact because if she was truly a bump in the road they would’ve stopped talking about her as soon as she offed herself.
The bar is in hell yes, but they need to recognize where they stand.
Honestly this whole discourse is once again pathetic and riddled with Casper the unfriendly ghost sociopaths being butthurt that their ship is pathetic.
They have to use headcanons to prop it up cause the books make it clear Laena was Daemon’s most beloved wife and Valyrian Karen was abandoned for Nettles(let’s not get into that cause she sends the methheads into a rage) while the show has him beating their self insert black and blue.
No one is trying to make this about race, but when you have people calling fictional characters the n-word, comparing them to monkeys, saying it’s okay to cut a Black character because there are too many Black people on the show, saying that it’s a shame Daemon doesn’t have any daughters he can relate to cause the ones he has aren’t white, and saying that it’s a determintal character trait to have Daemon sleep with Black women, well how else are we supposed to view it?
This doesn’t even cover half the demented crap they’ve said and we aren’t even getting into how they start gang stalking you, and trying to gaslight you into believing their lies, when you call them out on the bullshit.
Someone who isn’t racist would say those things. You can dislike a character or characters, but when you base your hate on racism, well congratulations! You’re a racist!
It’s so frustrating dealing with this fandom because any time you point out the obvious misogynoir you become the bad guy, the hater, the bitch, whatever. People only like you when you don’t rock the boat(aka don’t say anything about this because you’re bringing down the vibes), but how are you supposed to turn the other cheek when you see that?
The moment Laena became Black she became worthless to this fandom and the showrunners, to the point where they are only comfortable with her fitting into a stereotype.
Well now we are both ranting so I think we are even 🤣 I do love Daemon, but I love to drag him when he does wrong(I love my girls more than him so he’s in the doghouse. Book!Daemon would be ashamed of show!Daemon). Thank God fanfiction exists(and the books). Can’t wait to read yours. I’ll be updating mines this weekend)🙌🏽
