Was I talking about stumbling across things? Don’t think so, but an example of just that from a few months ago. No words needed to explain the images, but if needed - click through.

Different dance notation systems
The first two pictures are from a system called Labnotation, designed for analyzing and recording human movement invented by Austro-Hungarian choreographer and dancer Rudolf von Laban (1879-1958, a central figure in European modern dance), who developed his notation on movements in the 1920s.

These two are written with the notation system Beauchamp–Feuillet notation, a system of movement script for baroque Dance in 1700 in France.

I love how my professor describes how to write in a passive voice for a lab report! Have you heard of the Zombie test before? I guess the concept is that you should be able to add the phrase "... by zombies." to the end of any sentence. If it works you're set. What are some of your tips to write lab reports? All are welcome, but... the funnier the better. #labreports #OnlineLab #OnlineStudent #goodnotes #digitalnotes #digitalstudent #womeninscience #womanandgirlsinscience #studygram #studygrammer #studying #labnotes #notestagram #applepencil #studyaesthetic #paperlessstudent #productivity #digitalnotetaking #studyspiration #studygramcommunity #studymotivation #studyspo #studyblr #studygram #study #digitaldecluttering #learning #studytime #productivestudy #studyhard #ipadstudy https://www.instagram.com/p/CB_U9lMJlTH/?igshid=16gr2wkz8adlw

Module 4: Lab Notes
entropy: amount of organised things in the system
randomness: amount of disorganised things in the system
use password manager: i.e. “lastpass”
lastpass: single point of failure? Master password is encrypted so even if it is hacked, they won’t be able to get it
Encrypted Hardwares:
Linux where all the passwords are stored: “/etc/shadow”
Hardwares are not default because if you lose the encryption password, then you lose all your files
Hashing: condensing & summarising
Different hashing algorithms produce different result
“md5sum” type of hash result: condenses to 128 bits
Echo -n “hello” | md5sum
-n flag removes the newline character
Fingerprinting
3 types of things you want to avoid in hashes:
Collision Attacks
Pre-image Attacks: you have no plaintext, & you’re trying to find one
2nd Pre-image Attacks:
HMAC:
MAC: Message Authentication Code, only provides authentication, when you add hash to it, it also adds integrity
((Take plaintext and key) and hash it) password + hash
HMAC: doesn’t provide confidentiality as you have to send the file and hash across to the other person, if you want authentication, then use encryption methods
Bits of Security:
Question: Password file of 1000 hashes, assuming 50% of found in dictionary of 1,000,000 plaintext. 12 bits to hash one plaintext, 500 easy passwords
Take 1000000 passwords & hash it and then go through the hashes
Bits in 1million: 20, 2^20 = 2^10 x 2^10 ~ 1000 x 1000 = 1000000
Therefore: 2^2 x 2^20 = 2^32 = 32 bits of work
KALI:
BURPSuite: all packets go through proxy, intercepts your own packets
Case Study: Secret
Protecting Google’s new Research Lab: stick within things you know (nation
1. Main things that needed to be protected
People
Information (computer, stationary, disposal)
Site itself
Exits (for emergency)
Security through Obscurity: layers of obscurity is good as long as it isn’t the only form of security
2. List 3 key features of your security design
Design of actual building (layout)
Blending in
Multiple levels
2FA
Multi-sections

March 30, 2017 7/100 I missed yesterday's post because I was busy preparing for my lab exams. Here's a pic of my lab syllabus and behind it some of the previous labs. My study group pals and I went to the library to do some last minute studying and shared a lot of great tips. #studywithlexa #studyinspo #geography #examprep #geographylab #labnotes #studyblr #studentlife #studybuddies #syllabus #mymessywriting #100daysofproductivity
