mik09to oh man, i swear, it's like you hopped out of my brain and brought out all the stuff ive been rambling and mulling over to my friend for the past week! it's so cool to see folks with similar thoughts and observations like this, from the imeeji thing to the potential of there being more than just one alter in his system! :D

mik09to also no worries at all, sorry for the confusion! you got the orekoto thing completely correct - my bad for not clarifying!

mik09to would love to know when you think his eyes feel fake, since im super curious on other takes on it 👁 im chewing on the possibility of a third too, since im conflicted between "its just mikoto and orekoto and im overthinking the duality motif" vs "the duality motif is a red herring and meant to make you think theres only 2"; lots of thoughts on this, but im definitely rambling enough as is. sorry for blowing up your notifs!

(( no I’m so happy to be indulged!! I’ve been able to talk with friends about it too, but I feel that it’s s o nice to find people outside the bubble with these thoughts!!

And man y e ah, the duality thing seems....... I don’t know how to take it. From my understandings, it seems way more common to have far more than two in a system. But from a writer’s perspective, especially with such limited screentime, I couldn’t blame them for keeping it minimal, especially if they’re trying to be true to life in other aspects. So the duality aesthetics, calling the next song “Double,” like... are you trying to mislead us or really just doing two......... Or, could... Mikoto and Orekoto be trying to get our attention off the third..?

I have.......... way too many thoughts on the possibilities with this song. I’ll go under readmore to feel a little cleaner

So, my idea of three first came from reading the song as though everyone in the system has a section to themselves. Operating on that, I wanted to separate them by music style--

First comes the heavy metal style, and we watch the murder. Keeping in mind the voice drama, and going with the idea that “Mikoto” is the murderer, this calls the desire to link this style of music to him.

But then we get this music, and we get the pleas to look at him more closely, and just... this doesn’t really match the vibe Orekoto gave off, yknow? But, maybe it’s just an act, by him or mikoto. But-- who exactly would this act be for? And how? With every other prisoner, even if they try to put on airs, it feels more like it’s because they themselves buy into those airs, at least a little. It still reflects something genuine in them. With the nature of extractions, it doesn’t seem like it should be possible, for the songs themselves to purposefully look es/the audience in the eye and say “No, no, that isn’t true.”

I've thought about the possibility that this is still Mikoto, though-- and rather than pleading to reconsider that he’s a killer, the possibility came up that he could be.. unaware that he’s part of a system? And begging “It must be a mistake, take a good look at me”, could instead be denial to that fact? Maybe, it’s on the table for me.

Bu t back to the three person theory-- uhhh I’ll refer to this one as ‘Aokoto’ :>

So. Whoever this is, we don’t get to see their eyes the first time this scene comes up, besides the first time they open them. Hard to read from that. But sort of plays into the added theory at the end of this post--

The second time it goes back to this motif-- my girlfriend jus t pointed this out like last night I love her It follows the mirror scene, and there’s...

One-- who’s in the mirror

Two-- who’s head bows

Three...?

The one in the mirror changed expressions far too quickly, and the one closer to us isn’t making that expression; if it were his reflection, his thumb should be reflected too..?

We come back to blue, and he falls back-- This look of horror feels genuine. Again, maybe it could be Mikoto, simply unaware and being confronted with his DID-- Or could be Aokoto, being confronted with everything.

As the water goes red, if we assume it’s blood/representation of the murder, then.... Well, if Mikoto killed someone, and Orekoto was cleaning up the mess, then they both would be pretty well aware, right? So what’s this expression for?

We cut to him in the bath, washing off the blood. An air around him that reads more like Orekoto to me, but I digress-- We go back to blue.

And here.

These eyes feel fake.

I don’t know what exactly it is about it-- his eyes, expression, movement, but here, all I can read as genuine about him is desperation, to sweep it all under the rug, to convince. Maybe it’s Aokoto trying to convince himself. Maybe it’s Mikoto or Orekoto trying to convince you.

Personally, I feel like it’s Mikoto now, but that’s just personal vibes. I think Mikoto puts on the act, loosely mimicking Aokoto’s sweeter presence

then drops it, issuing a sort of warning,

and Orekoto comes in at the very end, telling us that we’re done now.

Maybe. I don’t know. I wish I knew a single thing about tarot cuz that might help.

But, my friends and I have been toying with the idea that Aokoto may have split off right after the murder-- An alter that’s meant to carry no stress at all, giving the body a few moments to just relax... Maybe? but that part’s not based on anything besides. there’s probably a lot of stress wrapped up in this boy.

-- Ah, I’m also leaning toward the idea that it was Aokoto who spoke for the first part of their interrogation with Es-- There could have been an act there too of course, but at times he just sounded... too genuinely confused, scared? It makes one wonder.

I am more of a report writer rather than creative writer anymore these days. So, if its bad then my bad LOOOOOL! If you don't want to read all that then here is this to get the gist of what is up with the world

"Some background:

Two species of humanoid now inhabit the same planet. One from another dead planet and seeking refuge and a new place to live (the humans). This was met with hostility from the original habitants (the larger one). A war broke out for 10 years, for the humans to come on top in the end. The larger species are now used as a sort of work horse in most cases. Some manual labor, others protecting the area and hunting, etc. there are still Nobels and high ups in politics but the less well-off tend to be put to difficult work and conditions. Even though the humans have the tech to make it easier, just don’t want to waste resources. It’s a political way to keep them down, busy and obedient basically. 🙃

Now for Alice, there is no stopping her now, every nook; every cranny is now hers to explore LOL no locks can keep her out now!! She is more of a danger to society's secrets now than she was before IM DYING LOOOOL

Okay hoooo boi do I have things to say about your fic and your writing🙌😭😭😭 (ps I still have plans to draw the reader and Din once I’m done with my commissions because your honor, I LOVE THEM)!

First thing’s first: your writing? Excellent. Characterization? Superb. MC is unlike any character I’ve read before. She’s sassy, really talkative, kinda reckless, definitely flirty, but what I love the most about her is the fact that beneath all of that, she’s been through her own stuff and has a sort of vulnerability that I adore.

That being said, my favorite parts of this fic are definitely when said vulnerability can be seen (added bonus when it’s seen by everyone’s favorite tin can, Din Djarin).

My absolute favorite chapter so far is Chapter 7 (“Kids, Cover Your Ears”), because not only do we get to see protective, Soft Din™️, but MC actually lets her guard down enough to forget herself and let us see her. Like when she reluctantly keeps her mouth shut “for the children”. Or when Kuill mentions her past and we see her struggle internally before running into Din, and for a split second, not keep up the walls she’s built around herself. Peak characterization, I say!!!! *shakes fist at the sky*

I hope this is all making sense😂 When you asked what we remember your writing by, for me, it’s that—characters that are more layered than any onion or ogre in existence😂

I admit I’ve flipped through your amazing fic countless times! (and reread the part where Din tells those people to let her go👀, when she wakes up and is finally honest with him, when he tells her to stay—gosh, my heart—😭).

You are AMAZING!!!! Please keep at it becauee you’ve got insane talent and I love your story!

I DIDN’T EVEN READ IT FOR THE FIRST 30 MINUTES BECAUSE I WAS ENJOYING THE FEELING OF JUST- KNOWING IT WAS THERE IF THAT MAKES SENSE

AHHH I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEM!!! I’ll also be sure to link to the fanart on both Ao3 and tumblr so everyone can see it!! (And for the record, I’ll also being to this with any fanart anyone sends in, such as this amazing fanart from @styxxus!)

Oh my goodness, I am always so thrilled when readers tell me they adore Ka’r’ika/Reader because she means SO MUCH to me. Ngl, she’s actually based on an old Clone Wars OC me and @sana-katarn created years ago.... There are significant differences, but the core personality was heavily influenced by her. So, I’m actually quite sentimental towards Ka’r’ika/Reader!

Ka’r’ika/Reader is a very complex, multi-faceted character. Yes, there’s that core personality- the real her- the person she would have been had she grown up with her family on Sularia. But the life she led after the Empire’s raid… Let’s just say it heightened certain negative characteristics she already possessed but would have been left much more dormant otherwise. Her fight for survival brought out both the best and worst in her. We will soon be learning much, much more about that “worst” side of Ka’r’ika/Reader.

But honestly, I LOVE that in a character! A character who can be selfish yet selfless, bad yet good. People are complicated- so shouldn’t characters be as well? Ka’r’ika/Reader has created so many personas, so many masks, to survive. But as we will soon learn, she never settled for just “survival.” She fought to thrive, even in the most terrible situations. While a kind and childlike nature rests at her core, she has an equally selfish, self-destructive, and ruthless nature she fights against.

Chapter 7 was SO MUCH FUN TO WRITE! The “fight” scene was written all in one sitting at 3AM during a hyper-fixation session. I felt barely human once I was finished with it lolllll! Ka’r’ika/Reader’s weakness is certainly children. Children bring out the best in her- and again, we’ll be learning more about that soon. ;) But, even though Ka’r’ika/Reader thinks she’s this infallible, unreadable person, she’s actually pretty bad at keeping the “persona”, the “walls” up when she’s caught off guard or called out.

I hope this is all making sense😂 When you asked what we remember your writing by, for me, it’s that—characters that are more layered than any onion or ogre in existence😂

JHAHSHSHS THAT’S THE BEST COMPLIMENT EVER- A SHREK QUOTE HECC YEAAAAAA lol (And honestly, characters are the reason I write! I have SUCH extensive stories that intertwine for everyone! I even have backstories written for characters like Irea! lolllll)

A - Age: 19 B - Birthplace: São Paulo, Brazil C - Current time: 23:22 PM when I started, 00:08 now. I hate that it takes me so long to type out something this simple but yikes here we are. D - Drink you last had: soda/pop/whatever the hell you say on english i guess every region has a different word lmao why are you like this E- Easiest person to talk to: probably my friend @neecha though to be honest I still suck at talking like, always. F - Favorite song: I can’t pick just one but Heir of Grief from Homestuck and Dialga’s Fight to the Finish! from PMD: Explorers of Sky have been the mood recently. Gotta love final boss songs. G - Grossest memory: idk if it’s the grossest but it’s the one on my mind right now: last year, one of my cats had the brilliant idea of eating over 50cm of string, and the stuff... doesn’t come out nicely. I thankfully wasn’t there to see the worst part but still came home to a panicked family, a bunch of dirty bed sheets (because of course he vomited in the bed. where else would it be) and a cat with string dangling from his butt. If that’s the kind of stuff emergency vets deal with all the time then I really don’t envy them. (he ended up fine tho. Despite the panic and the mess he did poop most of the thing at home and the last centimeters came out two days later. I never thought that a piece of string mixed with poop in a litter box would ever be a relieving sight, but apparently that’s what the pet owner life teaches you) H - Horror yes or Horror no: usual horror? no. weird glitchy game creepypasta stuff? hell yes I’ll always watch and always love it and always mock how utterly silly and cliche it is and always be unable to sleep for a week anyway. That stuff is ridiculous and only babies would get scared of it. And I’m the baby, oh what a baby I am.

I - In love?: nah this is an aroace zone J - Jealous of people?: Hardly. Anytime I get jealous of people’s achievements I remember that to achieve the same they did I would have to live life the way they do, dedicating myself to the same things they like, and I don’t want that. Overall I like the way I’ve been living and my own interests, so I wouldn’t trade them. L - Love at first sight or should I walk by again?: again, aroace zone. M - Middle name: don’t have that. Actually I’m pretty sure these aren’t a thing here in Brazil, but I could be wrong I guess. N - Number of siblings: one (1) older sister O - One wish: uh the world peace thing would be a cliche and sounds fake but damn if it wouldn’t be nice, if you want a personal thing tho it would be being able to meet and talk to my pokemon, and if you actually want a realistic thing, it would be really nice if one day people loved my works as much as I love my favorite series. Like, at this point it’s basically my life goal I think. P - Person you called last: My dad Q - Question you are always asked: “So, how is it going at college?” is basically a greeting at this point. The good part is that it immediately gives me a subject to start the conversation, the bad one is that I’m never sure what and how much about college people actually want to hear. R - Reason to smile: Pokemon S - Song you last sang: King Dice’s theme from Cuphead but I don’t actually know much of the lyrics yet so I just sing the first verse a billion times. T - Time you woke up: 10am U - Underwear colour: I don’t care much, but anything darker tends to be cooler. gosh I can’t believe I just sounded this edgy about panties and boxers. I can only hope the ‘gosh’ up there balance things out. You gotta have your edgy and dork levels properly evened out that’s how it works. V - Vacation destination: no clue, just being able to take a vacation sounds good enough already. W - Worst habit: This biting nails things went a bit too far i would like it to stop X - X-rays: Only dentist stuff. I’m actually kinda lucky at this stuff and never broke or hurt bones or anything. It’s half cool for obvious reasons but half scary because I have no idea how I’ll react if I ever get that kind of injury. F - Favourite food: see this is a terrible question because the answer is technically ‘mayo salad’ but I think there’s a billion different mayo salads out there and I don’t know if any of them is the one my mom makes. Either way, it’s got potatoes and carrots and apples and eggs and string beans and etceteras and it’s awesome. (btw I love how this ‘alphabet questions’ thing was doing so well until here and then it all goes to hell here with this second F. I wonder how many other alphabetically themed things get wrecked by the solid fact that there’s nothing to do with a goddamn ‘Y’, even if it sorta sounds like a question all by itself. y this)

a - age: sixteen b - birthplace: australia c- current time: 19:15 d - drink you last had: a cup of water e - easiest person to talk to: i dont exactly have one person in particular that i can talk to about anything, but rather i have a few friends that i talk about different stuff to? im lowkey paranoid that 1. if i tell one person everything theyll be able to control my entire life and 2. somehow, somewhere all the people ive ever told anything about myself to will secretly meet up, discuss everything ive told them and together they will create this massive group and blackmail me and just somehow control everything i ever do f - favorite song: ummmmmm ... i cant answer this question, its too difficult :( g- grossest memory: uhhh honestly i cant really remember anything specific ... h - horror yes or horror no: only during the daytime and with someone else (who i wont mess with me afterwards) i - in love?: yes, but probs not the way you would typically imagine. im in love with the way the sky is painted nearly every night with the purest and most beautiful colours. im in love with the way my friends smile and laugh. im in love with the way my bed is always a safe place. im in love with the sound of rain pattering against windows. j - jealous of people?: nah, i cant really remember the last time i was jealous of someone. k - killed someone?: nope. BUT i did have a dream recently where i had to kill this one dude that i used to like (i really dislike him now though), but yeah i was on this secret mission thingy and it was at school, and i was trying to plan a way to kill him without being too suspicious or obvious that it was a murder and that it was me who was going to kill him. the dream ended before i could kill him so oh well. i dont think that quite counts though... l - love at first sight or should i walk by again: um, in a way?? like not exactly love, but definitely major attraction and/or infatuation. I definitely believe in infatuation at first sight, but probably not love. especially when youve never had a proper conversation with them about anything yet m - middle name: Sherilyn n - number of siblings: just two o - one wish: to be able to find whatever i need whenever i need it/them(?) p - person you called last: i called my mum last to tell her we got home safely (its been raining nonstop since last night bc of cyclone debbie) q - question you’re always asked: hmmm,,, people tend to ask me what i wanna do after school. and i tend to give them a very tentative answer r - reason to smile: one reason for you to smile, at any given time, is the fact that there is always someone who cares about you, someone somewhere loves you and though you may not feel like you are loved or appreciated all the time, there is someone who cares. s - song you sang last: im listening to the les miserables soundtrack, so at the moment One Day More t - time you woke up: we got up early because we went to school (only for it to be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions) so, i think i woke up at around 5:47 am or around that? u - underwear color: blue v - vacation destination: someone take me to europe and wander through art galleries with me please i beg of you w - worst habit: hmmmm this is a tough one buddy, ive got so many bad habits to choose from... but this is probably a tie between procrastination and overthinking x - x-rays: one time i pulled a muscle in my foot because i was doing a kick in my taekwondo class (this was like 5 or so years ago) and my foot kinda rolled underneath me and yeah, i was in a lot of pain and sometime in the following few days i got an xray for it bc they wanted to check whether there was any bone damage as well y - your favourite food: oh my gosh, i have quite a few... um i guess ill have to go with either watermelon, fish and chips, pasta, or potato bake. its a tough call my dude. there are a few more, but at the moment thats all i can think of z - zodiac sign: gemini
