Today is the day I have been waiting for!

About Face Beauty is on sale at Ulta today, 50% eye products. Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty is my favorite holiday (next to my birthday).

So, naturally, I went a little wild. With these sale prices, it would have been silly to like, not get me and bestie new makeup babies. It was for our greater good.

Today’s score included: mascara, brow artist, and line artist for bestie. brow artist, line artist, fractal glitter eye paint, a shadowstick, and two matte fluid eye paints for myself.

(I also got a buxom lip liner, also half off, but we’re not here for that)

Halsey created About Face Beauty with long lasting looks in mind. My trip to Bonnaroo this year cemented this brand as my event (and basically everyday) go-to. No touch ups required.

KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick in Moth Orchid

I have the original Everlasting liquid lipstick in the shade Lovecraft that is my all time favorite lippie. I wore it for my wedding and it did not budge! Since it has been discontinued, I will only wear it on special occasions. I’ve been intrigued by the KVD reformulation wondering how it compared to the OG so I was excited to receive the shade Moth Orchid in exchange for my honest review.

Unfortunately, the KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick doesn’t hold a candle to the original formula and there isn’t a shade close to my favorite Lovecraft. The original formula was super pigmented, easy to apply, and quite literally lasted all day. Moth Orchid is supposed to be a “soft pink” but it’s much brighter and more coral than I anticipated. Although it’s pigmented and it is indeed “hyper light” It’s also very streaky when applied, I had to stretch my lips out and swipe multiple times to get an even layer of color. I applied before leaving my house for work, and found lipstick on my coffee cup after my commute; by lunchtime it looked as though I just had some lipliner or very faded lipstick.

The formula does feel nice, very lightweight, and it’s not instantly transferrable like some other liquid lipsticks, but I wouldn’t describe it as transfer proof. If you’ve never used the original formula then this is a great liquid lipstick but even then there are better options out there. If you have used the original Kat Von D formula then the only similarities really is the name.

Little note about the lips; this mauve-pink lipstick actually has a beautiful gold shimmer sheen throughout, when you look closely. So I decided to play on that. Added the KvD, mostly concentrating on the centre of the lips, but it was very gold-tin-man-esque! Blotted, then applied the lipstick on top of what was already there. The gold could very much still be seen, but blended seamlessly with the lip colour, much better. I applied the teeniest bit of gloss in the centre for some shine. As the day wore on, I noticed the lip colour looked more coral with a gold sheen, than the pink it started out as (personally I preferred the pink), but it was pretty nonetheless.

Happy Monday! Or as I’ve been referring to it as: KVD Liquid Lip Day!

I’ve been very patiently awaiting this wonderful day of the Ulta Beauty 21 Days of Beauty Sale!

KVD transfer-proof liquid lips are half off today. I woke up a little earlier than usual and sleepily placed my order. I had myself a list of what shades I was after and I’m happy to report that I got ‘em all!
